  • jquery: .attr() fails for child element

    - by user984003
    I'm going crazy staring at this. I need to change the attribute of an element, something which I have done many times before. But it fails. Now I can't even get jquery to show me the attribute that it has. Does it have to do with what is returned by find()? var c = new_photo_div.find('[class = photo]')[0]; alert(c); alert(new_photo_div.attr('class')); alert(c.attr('class')); The first alert correctly identifies the element: Object HTMLImageElement The second alert correctly gives me the class of new_photo_div. The third alert fails. No alert. I think it should say: photo

  • jQuery UI: how to run evaluation

    - by mikkelbreum
    I want to add 'Year' or Years' to the end of a string depending on the string. Like this: $("#selector").val(conditional_value_here); Using jQuery UI I have a slider that manipulates a value: $("#slider").slider({ value: 1, min: 1, max: 25, step: 1, slide: function(event, ui) { $("#amount").val(ui.value + ' Year' + function(){return (ui.value == 1) ? '' : 's';} ); } }); // and again I want to do the same for the initialization of the value: $("#amount_3").val($("#slider_3").slider("value") + ' Jahr' + function(){return ($("#slider_3").slider("value") == 1) ? '' : 's';}); This does not work. What is the correct way to to this?

  • jQuery Mobile tap bug : same target twice

    - by hugo
    I'm working on displaying some text in an UIWebView on iOS. I'd like to get the content of the HTML element tapped by the user. If he taps on a paragraph for example, a popup shows the paragraph content. I'm using jQuery Mobile to achieve this. Here's what I'm doing : $('body').tap(function(e) { var tappedElement = $(e.target); alert(tappedElement.text()); }); It works for the first tap. The second tap no matter where it is, returns the same text. The event seems to be ok but the target property of the second tap is wrong. On the third tap all comes back to normal and so on ... What am I missing here ? thx

  • Rejoin branching using jQuery formwizard?

    - by Vinay
    jQuery formwizard (http://thecodemine.org/) allows you to branch a form wizard based on inputs. I am trying to figure out if it possible to rejoin the branches (and not just for the last step.) e.g. Based on the inputs to Step 1, I'd like to present the user with a different step 2. However, after step 2, the remaining steps (step 3, 4, 5, etc.) should all be the same. How can this be done? Thanks!

  • How set default opened JQuery UI tab another than first

    - by user568920
    I have big web application using JQuery UI Tabs. In central JS file I have setted all tabs. Using $("#tabs").tabs; But on one page I need to have selected another tab than first. If I use $("#tabs").{ selected: add }); (name of tab is #add) Its not running, probably because Tabs are already set up. Does anyone know how to set opened another than first tab (in default state - after loading page) if tabs are already turned on? I hope, you will understand, my English is pretty terrible.

  • jQuery is only returning first item

    - by Andy
    For some strange reason, whenever I have a selector and expect to get multiple items, jQuery is only returning the first item, instead of the entire collection. This is the HTML I have: <a id="reply-424880" class="reply" href="#" rel="nofollow">Reply</a> <a id="reply-424885" class="reply" href="#" rel="nofollow">Reply</a> And the selector: $('.reply').unbind('click').click(function(event) { ... } I have tried debugging using FireBug, and still get the same results. Using the work around I can get it to work: $('a').each(function (index, element) { if ($(element).attr('class') == 'reply') { $(this).unbind('click').click(function(event) { ... }); } }); I would like to use the built-in functionality instead of my work around. Any idea why only the first element would be returned?

  • jquery - appended element not draggable

    - by kikkoman90
    Hello, So i have one div element that i append on my DOM with a click of a link. The problem is that i should be able to move that element around, but if i append it to my DOM i can't drag it at all. So is the live()-function solution? If it is, how should i use it? I kinda don't know how. Here's the minimalistic code: element to be appended (data.html): <div id="menu"> <p>random stuff here</p> </div> jquery: $("#menu").draggable(); $("#button").click(function(){ //custom function for exists() if ($("#menu").exists()){ $("#menu").remove(); } else { $.get("data.html", function(data){ $("body").append(data); }); } });

  • Trouble with Perfect Scrollbar jQuery

    - by coolpup
    I'm using the Perfect Scrollbar jQuery app (http://www.yuiazu.net/perfect-scrollbar/) for this site: http://thehummingbirdplace.com/ The scrollbar shows up when you hover over the News section, but it won't scroll down to reveal the content. I've used this scrollbar before successfully, so I'm stumped as to what is different now. I haven't been able to replicate this on a simpler page, when I experiment on another page it either works or just vanishes, so I'm not sure why it is successfully showing up, yet not scrolling on the main page. Any help would be appreciated!!

  • jquery plugin pattern using jquery.data

    - by web_dev
    I have seen this piece of code in jquery plugin patterns and the notes section mention that we could attach the plugin to the DOM element using the jQuery.data function. What I don't understand is how do I make use of this piece of code. Can somebody provide examples of how to use this functionality and explain its significance? $.fn[pluginName] = function (options) { return $Extend(this).each(function () { if (!$.data(this, 'plugin_' + pluginName)) { $.data(this, 'plugin_' + pluginName, new Plugin( this, options )); } }); };

  • jQuery plugin to style objects

    - by Alex
    Hi. I've been looking at the various JavaScript UI libraries and am wondering if there's one that can add some styling to page elements. I'm currently adding rounded corners, shadows, borders, and gradients via my own CSS + hacks to get it working on IE. I'm using jQuery for a number of tasks and wondered if there's a plugin that can add these design flairs more easily to DIVs. Not that you want to go overboard with this stuff, but when you need to use it, you'd like to depend on cross-browser and tried-and-tested solutions. Thanks.

  • Jquery UI in IE10

    - by Coelho
    I have this code on my system, and it works very well in all "real browsers", but now I need put this working on IE10. Because this development is inside a CMS I can't do upgrade on Jquery or UI. The $ version is 1.3.2 an UI version is 1.7.3. In IE I don't receive any message of error. And the Items with a class = "container myDevelopment" aren't sortables. Some one know what it's doesn't work? $(".container.myDevelopment").sortable({ connectWith: ".container.myDevelopment", receive: function (event, ui) { var issuecode = ui.item.attr("id"); var issueStatus = this.getAttribute("data-status"); alert("it's works"); } }).disableSelection();

  • Calling a function when using <button> tag with jQuery Mobile

    - by u2sonderzug
    I already asked a similar question for buttons in tags, but I find that solution doesn't work using tags. So, if I am using a script that references jQuery Mobile I have the following line: <button id="buttonAnswer1" data-inline="true">Click me</button> How would I add a listener for when this button is clicked and lets say call the hello() function? i.e. <button id="buttonAnswer1" data-inline="true">Click me</button> <script> function hello(){ console.log("hello world"); } </script>

  • jQuery live draggable / live droppable?

    - by Henk
    Hi all, Basically there are two tables: Companies and visitors. Currently it's possible to drag visitors to companies. Works great. As soon as the drop function occurs, there are two $.post's. The first one saves the drag to the database. The second one updates the visitors, because the information constantly changes. The problem, however is that as soon as the second $.post finishes, Firebug keeps popping the following error: d(this).data("draggable") is null Which occurs in the jQuery UI file. On line 56. about 400 times or so. So basically I'm looking for a way to do live() with draggable and droppable. The .draggables are in #visitors (an ul). The droppables are in #companies (a table). Thanks! $(".draggable").draggable({ revert:true }); $(".droppable").droppable({ drop: function(ev, ui) { $(this).text($(ui.draggable).text()); $.post('planning/save_visit', {user_id: $(ui.draggable).attr('id'), company_id: $(this).attr('id'), period: $('ul.periods li.active').attr('id')}); $.post('planning/' + $('ul.periods li.active').attr('id'), {visitors:true}, function(data){ $('#visitors').html(data); }); }, hoverClass: 'drophover' });

  • Using JQuery to replace multiple instances of HTML on one page

    - by Kenneth B
    I've made a script which copies the alt attribute of an image and puts it into a <span>. It also formulates the information divided by a hyphen. It works like a charm, but only with one image. I would also like to wrap a <div> around the image to prevent unnecessary markup. Script snippets: HTML: <div id="hoejre"> <p> <span class="alignright"> <img src="tommy_stor.jpg" alt="Name - Title" width="162" height="219" /> <span></span> </span> </p> </div> jQuery: var alt = $("#hoejre p span img").attr("alt"); $('#hoejre p span span') .html("<strong>" + alt.replace("-", "</strong> <em>") + "</em>"); Output: <span class="alignright"> <img height="219" width="162" alt="Name - Title" src="tommy_stor.jpg"> <span> <strong>Name</strong><em>Title</em> </span> </span> How do you I repeat the effect on several images, with different information within?

  • Problems with jQuery getJSON using local files in Chrome

    - by Tauren
    I have a very simple test page that uses XHR requests with jQuery's $.getJSON and $.ajax methods. The same page works in some situations and not in others. Specificially, it doesn't work in Chrome on Ubuntu. I'm testing on Ubuntu 9.10 with Chrome 5.0.342.7 beta and Mac OSX 10.6.2 with Chrome 5.0.307.9 beta. It works correctly when files are installed on a web server from both Ubuntu/Chrome and Mac/Chrome (try it out here). It works correctly when files are installed on local hard drive in Mac/Chrome (accessed with file:///...). It FAILS when files are installed on local hard drive in Ubuntu/Chrome (access with file:///...). The small set of 3 files can be downloaded in a tar/gzip file from here: http://issues.tauren.com/testjson/testjson.tgz When it works, the Chrome console will say: XHR finished loading: "http://issues.tauren.com/testjson/data.json". index.html:16Using getJSON index.html:21 Object result: "success" __proto__: Object index.html:22success XHR finished loading: "http://issues.tauren.com/testjson/data.json". index.html:29Using ajax with json dataType index.html:34 Object result: "success" __proto__: Object index.html:35success XHR finished loading: "http://issues.tauren.com/testjson/data.json". index.html:46Using ajax with text dataType index.html:51{"result":"success"} index.html:52undefined When it doesn't work, the Chrome console will show this: index.html:16Using getJSON index.html:21null index.html:22Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'result' of null index.html:29Using ajax with json dataType index.html:34null index.html:35Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'result' of null index.html:46Using ajax with text dataType index.html:51 index.html:52undefined Notice that it doesn't even show the XHR requests, although the success handler is run. I swear this was working previously in Ubuntu/Chrome, and am worried something got messed up. I already uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, but that didn't help. Can someone try it out locally on your Ubuntu system and tell me if you have any troubles? Note that it seems to be working fine in Firefox.

  • jQuery autocomplete - update options on dynamically created elements

    - by Ian Robinson
    Background The user enters values into multiple inputs on the page. Think of entering a list of widgets for sale. The user would select the type of a widget from a drop down. Then enter the name of the Widget vendor, and then the actual name of the widget. These UI elements would all appear as one row. The user is able to click an "add another widget" link and a new row is created. The two input elements have autocomplete functionality attached to them using the DevBridge jQuery plugin. It suggests the name of the vendor and the name of the widget. I have recently wired up the logic to filter the name of the widget based on the name of the vendor you entered. This means setting the (custom) vendorName parameter when attaching the autocomplete plugin so it can be passed to the server side to retrieve the widget names for that vendor that match the name the user entered. To achieve this functionality I'm dynamically attaching the autocomplete functionality to the second element (the widget name text box) when it receives focus. Here is an example: $('.autocomplete-widget').live('focus', function () { $(this).autocomplete({ serviceUrl: '/something.ashx', params: { type: 'widget', vendorName: $(this).parent().prev().find('.autocomplete-vendor').val()} }); }); Problem At first glance, this looks to function quite well. However I started noticing some inconsistencies, and upon inspection, I found out that the call to the server is actually happening several times in some cases. Each time the widget name input element receives focus the autocomplete functionality is attached. And what I'm seeing is that the call to the server is made in proportion to how many times the input element has gained focus. I'd like to avoid making the call more than once, but retain the ability to attach (or update) the autocomplete functionality "on focus". I've tried to use the autocomplete 'setOptions' method but have only been able to get it to work with the static elements, not the dynamically created elements. Question Is there a way I can clear out the autocomplete functionality before I attach another one?
