  • OJB / Oracle XE sql debug-display problem

    - by Jay
Hello, I have a Java application, and use OJB as my ORM technology. I have an Oracle XE installation locally to develop against. The problem is when I need to debug a problem, I like looking at the SQL output. Here is an example of SQL I can view through the "Top SQL" interface in Oracle XE: select a_bunch_of_fields from KREW_DOC_TYP_T A0 WHERE ((UPPER(A0.DOC_TYP_NM) LIKE :1) AND A0.ACTV_IND = :2) AND A0.CUR_IND = :3 The problem is I would like to see the real value instead of ":1". I can't seem to find how I can configure this. I know the real values are working, because the application is responding as expected, for the most part (hence the bugs I am working on). Thanks, Jay

  • How can I compare my PHPASS-hashed stored password to my incoming POST data?

    - by Ygam
    Here's a better example, just a simple checking..stored value in database has password: fafa (hashed with phpass in registration) and username: fafa; i am using the phpass password hashing framework public function demoHash($data) //$data is the post data named password { $hash =new PasswordHash(8, false); $query = ORM::factory('user'); $result = $query ->select('username, password') ->where('username', 'fafa') ->find(); $hashed = $hash->HashPassword($data); $check = $hash->CheckPassword($hashed, $result->password); echo $result->username . "<br/>"; echo $result->password . "<br/>"; return $check; } check is returning false

  • Visual Studio: What approach do you use to 'template' plumbing for similiar projects?

    - by Sosh
When building ASP.NET projects there is a certain amount of boilerplate, or plumbing that needs to be done, which is often identical across projects. This is especially the case with MVC and ALT.NET approaches. [I'm thinking of things such as: IoC, ORM, Solution structure (projects), Session Management, User Management, I18n etc.] I would like to know what approach you find best for 'reusing' this plumbing accross projects? Have a 'master solution' which you duplicate and rename somehow? (I'm using a this to a degree at the moment, but it's fairly messy. Would be interested how people do this 'better') Mainly rely on Shared Library projects? (I find this appropriate for some things, but too restrictive for things that have to be customised) Code generation tools, such as T4? (Similar to the approach used by SharpArchitecture - have not tried this myself) Something else? Thanks for sharing your experiences!

  • Injecting dependency into entity repository

    - by Hubert Perron
Is there a simple way to inject a dependency into every repository instance in Doctrine2 ? I have tried listening to the loadClassMetadata event and using setter injection on the repository but this naturally resulted in a infinite loop as calling getRepository in the event triggered the same event. After taking a look at the Doctrine\ORM\EntityManager::getRepository method it seems like repositories are not using dependency injection at all, instead they are instantiated at the function level: public function getRepository($entityName) { $entityName = ltrim($entityName, '\\'); if (isset($this->repositories[$entityName])) { return $this->repositories[$entityName]; } $metadata = $this->getClassMetadata($entityName); $customRepositoryClassName = $metadata->customRepositoryClassName; if ($customRepositoryClassName !== null) { $repository = new $customRepositoryClassName($this, $metadata); } else { $repository = new EntityRepository($this, $metadata); } $this->repositories[$entityName] = $repository; return $repository; } Any ideas ?

  • How to model my database when using entity framework 4?

    - by Junior Ewing
Trying to wrap my head around the best approach in modelling a database when we are using Entity Framework 4 as the ORM layer. We are going to use asp.net mvc 2 for the application. Is it worth trying to model using the class diagram modeller that comes with Visual Studio 2010 where you graphically configure your models into the EDMX file and then generate out the database structure? I have run into a bunch of non trivial issues and for complex many to many mappings or multi primary key entities the answer is not that obvious even after poking around a while with the tools. I figure its easy at this point to give up and start modelling the DB using real, working DB modelling tools and then try to generate out the EDMX from the database, rather than trying to do the model first approach.

  • Service injection into Controller (Spring MVC)

    - by ThaSaleni
Hi I have a Spring web application, I have built it up to the controller stage and I could inject my Daos, into my Services fine. Now when I want to inject my Service into my controller i get an error for dependency with the Dao and further down the sessionFactory. I don't want to inject these again cause this will ultimately lead me to eventually create a data source but I have my Daos for data access and they already know about sessionFactory. Am I missing something here? here's the sample code snippets My Service: @Service("productService") @Transactional public class ProductServiceImpl implements ProductService { private ProductDao productDao; @Autowired public void setDao(ProductDao productDao) { this.productDao = productDao; } My Controller @Controller @WebServlet(name="controllerServlet", loadOnStartup= urlPatterns=...}) public class ControllerServlet extends HttpServlet { boolean isUserLogedIn =false; @Autowired private ProductService productService; public void setProductService(ProductService productService){ this.productService = productService; } Servlet-context Stack trace javax.servlet.ServletException: Servlet.init() for servlet mvcServlet threw exception org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase.invoke(AuthenticatorBase.java:472) org.apache.catalina.valves.ErrorReportValve.invoke(ErrorReportValve.java:98) org.apache.catalina.valves.AccessLogValve.invoke(AccessLogValve.java:927) org.apache.catalina.connector.CoyoteAdapter.service(CoyoteAdapter.java:407) org.apache.coyote.http11.AbstractHttp11Processor.process(AbstractHttp11Processor.java:999) org.apache.coyote.AbstractProtocol$AbstractConnectionHandler.process(AbstractProtocol.java: 565) org.apache.tomcat.util.net.AprEndpoint$SocketProcessor.run(AprEndpoint.java:1812) java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.runTask(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:886) java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:908) java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:662) root cause org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'controllerServlet': Injection of autowired dependencies failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Could not autowire field: private com.phumzile.acme.services.ProductService com.phumzile.acme.client.web.controller.ControllerServlet.productService; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No matching bean of type [com.phumzile.acme.services.ProductService] found for dependency: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency. • Why is the C# SerializedAttribute is sealed?

    - by ahmet alp balkan
I was trying to create an attribute that implies [Serializable] but I noticed that this SerializableAttribute class is sealed. In Java it was possible to create an interface (say, MyInterface) that is inherited from Serializable interface and so all the subclasses of MyInterface would also be serializable, even its sub-sub classes would be so. Let's say I am creating an ORM and I want customers to annotate their entity classes as [DatabaseEntity] but in order to make sure that entities are serializable, I also need to ask them to attribute their classes with extra [Serializable] which does not look quite compact and neat. I am wondering why SerializableAttribute class is sealed and why has Inherited=false which implies that subclasses of serializable class will not be serializable unless it is explicitly stated. What motives are behind these design choices?

  • Using protocol buffers for a comprehensive data strategy for Windows Mobile devices

    - by Steve
I have started reading some of the posts related to protocol buffers. The serialization method seems very appropriate for the transfer of data to and from web servers. Has anyone considered using a method like this to save and retrieve data on the mobile device itself? (i.e. a replacement for a traditional database / orm layer) Where would the data be persisted? How would the data be queried? Would it make sense to store the data in a traditional database (SqlCE or SqlLite) with a few "searchable" columns and then one column for the serialized data? Thoughts? Am I out on a limb here? Thank you!

  • Does php mvc framework agavi use CRUD compliant to REST?

    - by txwikinger
The agavi framework uses the PUT request for create and POST for updating information. Usually in REST this is used the other way around (often referring to POST adding information while PUT replacing the whole data record). If I understand it correctly, the important issue is that PUT must be idempotent, while POST does not have this requirement. Therefore, I wounder how creating a new record can be idempotent (i.e. multiple request do not lead to multiple creations of a record) in particular when usually the ORM uses an id as a primary key and the id of a new record would not be known to the client (since it is autocreated in the database), hence cannot be part of the request. How does agavi maintain the requirement of idempotence in light of this for the PUT request. Thanks.

  • LINQ to SQL or Entities, at this point?

    - by orlon
I'm a bit late to the game and have decided to spend some spare time learning LINQ. As an exercise, I'm going to rewrite a WebForms app in MVC 2 (which is also new to me). I managed to find a few topics regarding LINQ here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16322/learning-about-linq, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8050/beginners-guide-to-linq, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/252683/is-linq-to-sql-doa), which brought the concern of Entities vs SQL to my attention. The threads are all over a year old however, and I can't seem to find any definitive information on which ORM is preferable. Is Entities more or less LINQ to SQL 2.0 at this point? Is it still more difficult to use? Is there any reason to use LINQ to SQL, or should I just jump into Entities? The applications I write at my present employer have a lengthy lifecycle (~10 years), so I'm trying to pick the best technology available.

  • [Zend Framework] Is there any way to use more than 1 bootstrap class?

    - by rasouza
It should sound workaround or something like, but I'll tell you what: I chose to have a separated "project" with every library I could use. It's like a global library which I included Zend library, Doctrine ORM, JQuery, Blueprint CSS, etc. Then I set the include path. Nothing wrong. The problem is: I'd like to have also a global bootstrap class inside the library folder and an individual bootstrap class on each project I create for individual use. I don't know how to set more than 1 bootstrap class. Is it possible?

  • Resetting Objects vs. Constructing New Objects

    - by byronh
Is it considered better practice and/or more efficient to create a 'reset' function for a particular object that clears/defaults all the necessary member variables to allow for further operations, or to simply construct a new object from outside? I've seen both methods employed a lot, but I can't decide which one is better. Of course, for classes that represent database connections, you'd have to use a reset method rather than constructing a new one resulting in needless connecting/disconnecting, but I'm talking more in terms of abstraction classes. Can anyone give me some real-world examples of when to use each method? In my particular case I'm thinking mostly in terms of ORM or the Model in MVC. For example, if I would want to retrieve a bunch of database objects for display and modify them in one operation.

  • DAO design pattern and using it across multiple tables

    - by Casey
I'm looking for feedback on the Data Access Object design pattern and using it when you have to access data across multiple tables. It seems like that pattern, which has a DAO for each table along with a Data Transfer Object (DTO) that represents a single row, isn't too useful for when dealing with data from multiple tables. I was thinking about creating a composite DAO and corresponding DTO that would return the result of, let's say performing a join on two tables. This way I can use SQL to grab all the data instead of first grabbing data from one using one DAO and than the second table using the second DAO, and than composing them together in Java. Is there a better solution? And no, I'm not able to move to Hibernate or another ORM tool at the moment. Just straight JDBC for this project.

  • Communication between (Desktop/Smartphone) Application and Web Application

    - by erlord
Hi all I wonder what is the commonly used method and protocol for a, say, smartphone application to send its data to a web application (where these data should be proceeded and stored). My naive beginner's approach would be something like this: From my smartphone app, use a framework encoding my data object into a json object Send this object via http to a listener addressed by a dedicated URL On the server side, use a JSON parser and store it via ORM etc. into a database Questions: Is this too naive? 2a. If yes: What is the appropiate way to tackle this workflow? 2b. If no: What frameworks to use in JAVA for serializing/deserializing to/from JSON objects? Any example for a json listener in the web? Tutorial for a http-protocol based Java listener? Thanks for all answers and suggestions in advance. Regs Me

  • Exception "Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions" when saving object

    - by Alex
I am using CastleProject ActiveRecord and I use lazy load feature of this ORM. In order to make lazy load work, it is required to create SessionScope. I do this in Program.cs: public static SessionScope sessionScope; private static void InitializeActiveRecord() { ActiveRecordStarter.Initialize(); sessionScope = new SessionScope(); } This works fine for loading, however, when I try to save my objects, I get an exception saying "Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions". I guess this is due to the fact that I created one session myself. How to avoid this exception?

  • Why can't I retrieve the entities I've just persisted?

    - by felipecao
I've got this web service that basically queries the database and returns all persisted entities. For testing purposes, I've created a TestDataManager that persists 2 example entities after Spring context is loaded (BTW, I'm using JAX-WS, Spring, Hibernate and HSQLDB). My TestDataManager looks like this: @Component public class TestDataManager { @Resource private SessionFactory sf; @PostConstruct @Transactional(readOnly = false, propagation = Propagation.REQUIRES_NEW) public void insertTestData(){ sf.openSession(); sf.openSession().beginTransaction(); sf.openSession().persist(new Site("site one")); sf.openSession().persist(new Site("site two")); sf.openSession().flush(); } } My JAX-WS endpoint looks like this: @WebService public class SmartBrickEndpoint { @Resource private WebServiceContext context; public Set<Site> getSitesForUser(String user){ return getSiteService().findByUser(new User(user)); } private ISiteService getSiteService(){ ServletContext servletContext = (ServletContext) context.getMessageContext().get("javax.xml.ws.servlet.context"); return (ISiteService) BeanRetriever.getBean(servletContext, ISiteService.class); } } This my Service class: @Component @Transactional(readOnly = true) public class SiteService implements ISiteService { @Resource private ISiteDao siteDao; @Override public Set<Site> findByUser(User user) { return siteDao.findByUser(user); } } This is my DAO: @Component @Transactional(readOnly = true) public class SiteDao implements ISiteDao { @Resource private SessionFactory sessionFactory; @Override public Set<Site> findByUser(User user) { Set<Site> sites = new LinkedHashSet<Site>(sessionFactory.getCurrentSession().createCriteria(Site.class).list()); return sites; } } This is my applicationContext.xml: <context:annotation-config /> <context:component-scan base-package="br.unirio.wsimxp.dao"/> <context:component-scan base-package="br.unirio.wsimxp.service"/> <context:component-scan base-package="br.unirio.wsimxp.spring"/> <bean id="applicationDS" class="org.springframework.jdbc.datasource.DriverManagerDataSource"> <property name="driverClassName" value="org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver"/> <property name="url" value="jdbc:hsqldb:file:sites"/> </bean> <bean id="sessionFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.annotation.AnnotationSessionFactoryBean"> <property name="dataSource" ref="applicationDS" /> <property name="configLocation"> <value>classpath:hibernate.cfg.xml</value> </property> <property name="hibernateProperties"> <props> <prop key="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.HSQLDialect</prop> <prop key="hibernate.show_sql">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.format_sql">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.connection.release_mode">on_close</prop> <!--<prop key="hibernate.current_session_context_class">thread</prop>--> <prop key="hibernate.query.factory_class">org.hibernate.hql.classic.ClassicQueryTranslatorFactory</prop> <prop key="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto">create-drop</prop> </props> </property> </bean> <bean id="transactionManager" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager"> <property name="sessionFactory" ref="sessionFactory" /> </bean> <tx:annotation-driven transaction-manager="transactionManager" /> This is what's going on now: when the app is deployed, TestDataManager#insertTestData kicks-in (due to @PostConstruct) and persist does not raise any exception. I should have 2 entities in the DB by now. Afterwards, I invoke the endpoint by a SOAP client, and the request goes all the way up to the DAO. The Hibernate invocation does not raise any exception, but the returned list is empty. The odd thing is, in TestDataManager, if I switch from sf.openSession() to sf.getCurrentSession(), I get an error message: "No Hibernate Session bound to thread, and configuration does not allow creation of non-transactional one here". What I am doing wrong here? Why is the query "not seeing" the persisted entities? Why do I need to invoke sf.openSession() on TestDataManager although it's annotated with @Transactional? I have done some tests with hibernate.current_session_context_class=thread in application.xml, but then I just switch problems in each class. I'd like not needing to manually invoke sf.openSession() and leave that for Hibernate to take care. Thanks a lot for any help!

  • How can I load a sql "dump" file into sql alchemy

    - by JudoWill
I have a large sql dump file ... with multiple CREATE TABLE and INSERT INTO statements. Is there any way to load these all into a SQLAlchemy sqlite database at once. I plan to use the introspected ORM from sqlsoup after I've created the tables. However, when I use the engine.execute() method it complains: sqlite3.Warning: You can only execute one statement at a time. Is there a way to work around this issue. Perhaps splitting the file with a regexp or some kind of parser, but I don't know enough SQL to get all of the cases for the regexp. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will EDIT: Since this seems important ... The dump file was created with a MySQL database and so it has quite a few commands/syntax that sqlite3 does not understand correctly.

  • Datagrid for Symfony?

    - by Stick it to THE MAN
I want to use a datagrid in one of my modules (Symfony 1.3, Propel ORM). I have spent a while searching the web, but everything I found expects a direct connection to teh db (mySQL) or is otherwise unsuitable. I found the datagrid plugin (http://symfony.swisscenter.com/datagrid/exemples), but the documentation/examples are in French - and I'm not too keen on learning French just for the sake of using the plugin - besides, if all the users are French speakers, then it will be difficult to get support/help if/when I do hget stuck. So my questions are: Is anyone aware of a good (PHP) datagrid component that I can use with SF? Is anyone out there (English speaker), using the SF datagrid plugin?

  • LLBLGen and the repository pattern

    - by user137348
I was wondering if building a repository on the top LLBLGen (adapter) is a good idea. I don't want to overengineer and reinvent the wheel again. The DataAccessAdapter class could be some kind of a generic repository. It has all the CRUD methods you need. But on the other side for a larger project it could be good to have a layer between your ORM and service layer. I'd like to hear your opinions, if your using the repository pattern with LLBLGen,if yes why if no why not. If you have some implementation, post it please.

I know how to do it without declarative syntax (model/_init_.py): def init_model(engine): """Call me before using any of the tables or classes in the model""" t_events = Table('events', Base.metadata, schema='events', autoload=True, autoload_with=engine) orm.mapper(Event, t_events) Session.configure(bind=engine) class Event(object): pass This works fine, but I would like to use declarative syntax: class Event(Base): __tablename__ = 'events' __table_args__ = {'schema': 'events', 'autoload': True} Unfortunately, this way I get: sqlalchemy.exc.UnboundExecutionError: No engine is bound to this Table's MetaData. Pass an engine to the Table via autoload_with=<someengine>, or associate the MetaData with an engine via metadata.bind=<someengine> The problem here is that I don't know where to get the engine from (to use it in autoload_with) at the stage of importing the model (it's available in init_model()). I tried adding meta.Base.metadata.bind(engine) to environment.py but it doesn't work. Anyone has found some elegant solution?

  • Rails ActiveRecord- has_many through and belongs_to a related model

    - by Nick
I have 3 models sites, user_favorites and users. Relevant relationships: class Site < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :users, :through => :user_favorites class UserFavorite < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user, :counter_cache => true belongs_to :site end class User < ActiveRecord:Base has_many :user_favorites has_many :sites, :through => :user_favorites All of that works just fine. I'd like to add a new attribute to the Site model to indicate which user created it. I don't believe this constitutes a has_and_belongs_to_many scenario. A site has many users through user_favorites but I want it to belong to a single user reflecting the owner/creator. I'm wondering what the ORM best practice is for this. SQL wise I'd just use different joins depending on what I was trying to query with a created_by FK in Site. Sorry if I'm missing something basic here. Thanks
