• Raid 5 mdadm Problem - Help Please

  My Raid 5 array (4 1tb Disks WD10EARS) had was showing as degraded. • I have two 'WsusContent' folders. One has about 55gb of files in it. How do I clear it out?

  I ran the WSUS cleanup wizard in the WSUS MMC snap-in but this made no difference. I think the files are associated with System Center Essentials because they are in a folder called "data\SCE2007\WsusContent" I've looked for a similar cleanup wizard in System Center Essentials but can't find one. Is there a way to clear these files out that doesn't cause issues for SCE or anything else? FYI I've got both SCE and standalone WSUS settings already set to minimize the amount of updates downloaded from Microsoft to only those that are needed.

• Creating a UIImage from a rotated UIImageView...

  I have a UIImageView with an image in it. I have rotated the image prior to display by setting the transform property of the UIImageView to CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(angle) where angle is the angle in radians. I want to be able to create another UIImage that corresponds to the rotated version that I can see in my view. • Have I fixed my partition problem with os x 10.5.8? Are my GPT and MBR back to normal?

  I'm new to linux and I have overstepped by abilities. I tried dual booting os x 10.5.8 with ubuntu 11.10 with rEFIt, but I been having problems with partitioning. Instead of enduring more headaches, I've made the decision to simply use ubuntu on VirtualBox. I've tried to return my HDD to normal, but I am looking for confirmation that my partitions are ok.   I have just got new hosting for my website and I have a directory /www which I put all my website files within and a folder in that directory called 'store'. Within 'store' is several files and folders, I want to give the folder 'store' and all files and folders within the 'store' folder all permissions. How do I do this? I am guessing via .htaccess. I have tried inserting chmod 777 -R /store Into the .htaccess file but didn't work. Threw a big on screen error at me. I want to make all the files and folders within /store writable.

• Branching and Merging Improvements in TFS2010

  Introducing the concept of “first class branches” is a significant improvement as part of the 2010 release with respect to version control.  Not only does it help to distinguish between folders and branches, but it enables branch visualizations. Let us see improvements in detail. ·         In TFS2008, you don’t know which of the folders are Branches: All folders looks the same, all have the folder icon. Now, In TFS 2010 there is a new icon that shows which of the folder is a Branch.       ·      There is no visual means to manage branches in TFS2008:   You dont have any means to identify which branches are related and the relation type. Now, In TFS 2010 you have visual tools to see the Branches Hierarchy. In order to see a Branch Hierarchy just Right Click the Branch and choose: Branching and Merging –> View Hierarchy     ·         In TFS2008, there is no option to track changes path between the Branches:  If you have made a merge in a Branch you can’t track from which Branch this Merge came from. Now, you have the tools that shows the path of change between the Branches, you can also see where change was added on a timeline.  In order to track a change do the following: Step1: Right click the Branch and click View History   Step 2: Choose a changeset to track and click the “Track Changeset” button.     Step 3: Choose the branches that will be in the view and click “Visualize”. In above visual, you can see that Changesets 108,109,110 and 119 where merged from Main to Release1.0 Branch and then “Release_1.0” Branched to “Dev1.0. Step4: You can also see the Merges on a Timeline by clicking on the “Timeline Tracking” button.   Creating New Branches: In TFS 2010, the creation of branches has been streamlined a bit from the process in 2008.  In 2008, creating a new branch was like every other action in the system – changes were pended on the client, and then checked in to the server. Because of this creating new branch in TFS2008 was time-consuming process.  In TFS2010, the step where changes are pended has been bypassed and now performing the branch creation is entirely on the server.  With this approach, the round trip time for downloading a copy of each file on the branch and then uploading each file again has been eliminated.  Note: In TFS2010, the new branch will be created and committed as a single operation on the server. Pending changes will not be created, it doesn’t require a check-in as it will be carried out as a single operation and it’s not possible to cancel.     Manage Branch Permissions: The properties view for branches is also different than that of ordinary folders or file, containing some metadata for the branch, relationship information, and permissions for the branch. In TFS2008, the users who have checkout and Check-in permissions can create a branch. But, In TFS2010 you can control the permissions for Branches using Manage Branch permissions.   Reparent option in TFS2010: In TFS2008, if we have two branches which don’t have parent-child relation and we want perform merge between these two branches then we have to perform baseless merge using tf.exe command line. I have two branches Release_1.0 and Dev1.0_F2 which don’t have any relation between them, that’s why when I click on merge option in Release_1.0, in Target Branch it’s not showing Dev1.0_F2 branch to perform the merges.     Let us see what can we do for this in TFS2010, first perform a TFS baseless merge to establish a relationship between the parent branch and the child branches.  It will only merge the folder, not its contents. TFS baseless merges are performed via the command line using VS2010 command prompt and do the following:   tf merge /baseless <ParentBranch> <childBranch> Check in your pending changes. It will create the link between the branches but the relationships are still not completed.  Now, select the child branch in Source Control Explorer and from the File menu choose Source Control –> Branching and Merging –> Reparent.      In the dialog box,  choose the appropriate branch as the new parent.   Click Reparent and then go to parent branch and click merge. Now, will see that in Target Branch option Dev1.0_F2 branch is added.         Converting Folders to Branches and Branches to Folders: You can convert any Folder as Branch from Context Menu by performing right click on the folderàBranching and MergingàConvert to Branch. In similar way, you can convert the Branches to Folder using Convert to Folder option available in File Menu (FileàSource ControlàBranching and MergingàConvert to Branch). This option is not available in context menu.

• Thunderbird/Firefox with shared profiles (Lubuntu+WinXP)

  I use Thunderbird and Firefox both on WinXP and Lubuntu 11.10. The profile folders are on the NTFS-partition of Windows and I'm sure that I've edited the profile paths correctly. Windows doesn't show any problems but Lubuntu shows the error dialog saying that another instance of Thunderbird/Firefox is already running..." The funny thing is, that as soon as I've opened the profile folders in my explorer, firefox and thunderbird can be started. I don't have to change any files or something (Have made some experiments with .parentlock) Do you have an idea how I could solve this problem, as I don't want to open the profile folders after every reboot.   I understand robots.txt and its purpose. I have read some people saying that using a Robots.txt gives "bad" robots or robots who do not obey a robots.txt a way to access pages on your site that you do not want accessed. While I am not looking to get into a debate about that I do have a question: If I have a structure like this: /Folder/ /Sub-Folder 1/ /Sub-Folder 2/ (Note: There are no pages within /Folder/ only other folders.) If I Disallow: /Folder/ it will prevent "good" robots from accessing the directory and any contents within the sub-folders. While we know that bad robots will see the /Folder/ will they be able to see and acess the sub-folders and the pages within the subfolders if they are not listed in the robots.txt? (Note: I do not fully understand how robots good or bad crawl a site beyond using a robots.txt and links within the site.)

• No method found compiler warning

  I have create a class from a string, check it is valid and then check if it responds to a particular method. If it does then I call the method. It all works fine, except I get an annoying compiler warning: "warning: no '-setCurrentID:' method found". Am I doing something wrong here? Is there anyway to tell the compiler all is ok and stop it reporting a warning?   I want to be able to create a greyscale image with no alpha from a png in the app bundle. I've tried creating a bitmap context thus: CGColorSpaceRef colorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceGray(); CGContextRef ctx =CGBitmapContextCreate(nil, rectangleOfOverlap.size.width, rectangleOfOverlap.size.height, 8, rectangleOfOverlap.size.width , colorSpace, kCGImageAlphaNone); UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext returns zero and the resulting image is not created. • Nautilus tags/labels/marks/emblems for directories

  Is there any way how to mark folders or files with tags(or labels or whatever) in Nautilus? It would be nice to sort marked folders or files through this tags. I am familiar with emblems but I cant sort through it and its complicated to assign emblem to folder(3 clicks at least). Especially my first idea was to mark folders in my Movie directory with tags seen, not seen, must see, and so on. Then I realized it would be useful in any other workspace with any custom tags... Is there any nautilus extension for this? Or any other file manager which can do this?

• Using the contents of an array to set individual pixels in a Quartz bitmap context

  I have an array that contains the RGB colour values for each pixel in a 320 x 180 display. I would like to be able to set individual pixel values in the a bitmap context of the same size offscreen then display the bitmap context in a view. It appears that I have to create 1x1 rects and either put a stroke on them or a line of length 1 at the point in question. Is that correct? I'm looking for a very efficient way of getting the array data onto the graphics context as you can imagine this is going to be an image buffer that cycles at 25 frames per second and drawing in this way seems inefficient. I guess the other question is should I use OPENGL ES instead? Thoughts/best practice would be much appreciated. • What is the best approach to 2D collision detection on the iPhone?

  Been working on this problem of collision detection and there appears to be 3 main approaches I could take: Sprite and mask approach. (AND the overlap of the sprites and check for a non-zero number in the resulting sprite pixel data). Bounding circles, rectangles or polygons. (Create one or more shapes that enclose the sprites and do the basic maths to check for overlaps). Use an existing sprite library. The first approach, even though it would have been the way I would have done it in the old days of 16x16 sprite blocks, it appears that there just isn’t an easy way of getting at the individual image pixel data and/or alpha channel within Quartz (or OPENGL for that matter). Detecting the overlap of the bounding box is easy, but then creating a 3rd image from the overlap and then testing it for pixels is complicated and my gut feel is that even if we could get it to work would be slow. Am I missing something neat here? The second approach involves dividing up our sprites into several polygons and testing them for overlaps. The more polygons the more accurate the collision detection. The benefit is that it is fast, and can be accurate. The downside is it makes the sprite creation more complicated. i.e., we have to create the polygons for each sprite. For speed the best approach is to create a tree of polygons. The 3rd approach I’m not sure about as it involves buying code (or using an open source licence). I am not sure what the best library to use is or whether this would make life easier or give us a problem integrating this into our app. So in short I am favouring the polygon and tree approach and would appreciate you views on this before I go and write lots of code.   In IOS 3.2 I was able to display my UISplitViewController side by side like in landscape mode. In IOS 4.2 the RootViewController (MasterView) is not showing up in portrait mode. Does anyone know if we need to display the rootviewcontroll in a popover? Can we display it side by side like how it is in landscape mode? I want to avoid having to click on a button to show the masterview (when in portrait mode)

• Hiding recent files in Unity dashboard

  Ubuntu 13.04 (though had the same issue in both 12.04 LTS and 12.10). Unity desktop (yes I like it, shush). Anyways, when clicking on the dashboard there is a tab for 'Files and Folders'. I don't have any files on this computer that isn't porn. In other words, it displays the images there (as it's supposed to), but I can't have it displaying the porn for obvious reasons. I have disabled 'recent activity' and even added the folder it's all in to the 'do not record activity in the following folders'. I'm assuming that works but as I don't actually have any other files, it still displays them. I don't want to have to make it a hidden folder because it's on an external HDD and causes issues when moving from computer to computer (I have other movies on it as well). TL;DR: Get rid of the 'Files and Folders' tab in the dashboard. Is it possible?

• iPhone 4.0 Screen Resolution and writing robust code...

  Does anyone know what will happen with existing apps when they run on the iPhone 4.0 in terms of the new screen resolution? I am assuming, just like developing for the iPad that there should be no hard coded screen resolutions in your code. I'd also like advice on the best way of writing robust code to work well on any device. For instance, detecting the screen resolution is not enough - on the iPad the screen is physically bigger so you can display more items on it. On the new iPhone the screen is the same physical size but higher resolution, so the likely thing is that you wont want to display more items, just higher resolution versions of them. Any help would be useful, Regards Dave EDIT: I have read the other similar posts, I guess what I really would like to know is what is the recommended way to write code for all App Store devices in a robust way so they a) all work b) make best use of the device.

• React to a modified directory

  In linux everything is considered as file, Now if I want to find only folders/directories not the files then how can i do that? I am getting all the modified files with the following command. find /Users/ghanshyam -type f -mmin -5 -print My goal is to generate the log file with all the modified/access folders. Here two options are available. create a module and call every time when a folder is modified (this one is bit difficult because I need to check particular event) create a cron task that will run after every 5 minutes. cron task will execute shell script and generate the log entries with the modified folders. Do you have any other option to do this task ?

• samba share not allowing windows pc to access

  I have been trying to no avail, to share folders on my ubuntu pc with a windows network. The windows network isn't a homegroup, just a straight up access to folders made public. I can see the ubuntu shares I make, but when I try to access them I get a permission denied contact your system administrator type message. Could someone clarify the area re adding a user to samba, as there are about 30 different unix usernames! I just want my windows network to have unrestricted access to my linux folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated

• Ubuntu One not syncing fully

  I have uploaded several folders of data to Ubuntu One from my desktop computer, over the last few weeks, and I can see that all the contents are there when I look at my account on the web. When I look at my laptop (connected to the same account), one of the first folders I uploaded hasn't downloaded completely. New folders added from either device seem to sync correctly, but this one older folder remains almost empty, even though the control panel says file syncing is up-to-date. I have plenty of space available. Stopping and restarting the sync daemon and rebooting the laptop are both ineffective. What can I do to make this folder sync fully? I don't want to risk losing the data (which now exists only in Ubuntu One), and I don't have a lot of broadband data to play with. I've seen several bugs relating to this sort of issue but they're all quite old and apparently fixed, while this is happening on new 13.04 installations on both desktop and laptop.
