  • Getting live traffic/visitor analytics when using a reverse proxy

    I'm in process of implementing Varnish as a reverse proxy for a Ruby on Rails app and I'm using Google Analytics (JS/client side script to record visitor data) but it's several hours delayed so its useless for knowing what's going on now. I need at a glance live data that includes referring traffic and what current req/sec is. Right now I am using a simple Rack middleware application to do the live stats (gist.github.com/235745) but if the majority of traffic hits Varnish, Rack will never be hit so this won't work. The closest solution I've found so far is http://www.reinvigorate.net/ but it's in beta (there are also no implementation details on their front page). Does Varnish have traffic logs that I can custom format to match my Apache logs so I can combine them, or will I have to roll my own JS implementation like GA that shows the data in real time?

  • MSSQL Replace Database in Live Web App

    I have a web app that is currently live. I had the need to make major modifications to the database and now I need to replace the current one. My dev SQL instance is not the live one. I usually just make a backup of the new DB, blow the old one away and Restore my updated one. But now I have data I need to preserve. Most of the current tables have changed, in that extra columns have been added, all existing columns are still there and unchanged. I have access to Management Studio. What is the right way to do this?

  • 8007064c(2011) and 80280007(2009) persistant after all known repairs

    I'm on Windows 7 Home x64, and have ran into a major issue with Live Messenger(which I use daily). I have full offline installers for both 2011 and the last Wave 3 2009(14.0.8117.0416) Suites. Both give the following errors: Live Essentials 2011 Offline installer(official): An unknown error occured. Error:0x8007064c Source WLXSuite WL 2009 offline installer(official): You already have a more recent version of Windows Live. Error: OnCatalogResult:0x80280007 Next steps: If you want to install this older version, first uninstall any later versions that are on your computer. Get help with this error The 2011 installer also says it is updating messenger, I don't select anything else. Then last 2009 installer says their is a newer version that needs uninstalled even after the following procedures. MS Help pages provided all basically lead to using uninstall from control panel. Which I've uninstalled all Live components including watcom safety scanner and portable SQL from. I've followed online instructions for manually deleting folders from Program Files(x86), Appdata, and some others under \User\All Users and the one for the one account on the machine. I've used CCcleaner 3.01, ASC 3.7.3 and Beta 4 with deep scan along with deleting folders, and checked their uninstallers for Live components too, and none were there. wlmuninstaller.exe tool reports nothing, but after a failed install it finds something, but failes to clean it under all user admin privilege. The same errors still occur after all of that. Google searching I see people on forums suggesting reinstalling the OS cause MS doesn't even know how to fix this, but I'm hoping someone here can help. NOTE: I don't have System Restore or any other state freeze utilities going, and I don't have any real time AV going(I sometime scan with defender, anti rootkits, and online scanners).   • Windows Live Mail doesn't respond to clicking Allow Sender

    This is a problem that I experience for a couple of years now.. I'm having the latest version of Windows Live Mail. The overall behavior works just fine, but when I want to click 'Allow Sender' in the yellow bar above my e-mail, the text button does nothing. My mouse pointer turns into a finger hand, but the click event does nothing.. Sometimes with other e-mails, the button works and the yellow bar dissappears.. I have also experienced this in previous versions of Windows Live Mail.. Does anybody know what it could be..

  • Live Folder: browser intent error

    I'm trying to make a Live Folder with URIs. The intent I set to the Live Folder items is an Intent{Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse(url)}. I have verified url is indeed http://www.google.com (for testing purposes). But when I click the item in the live folder I get an error message: "Application is not installed on your phone." I guess I'm missing something, but I have no idea how to make the browser launch.

  • Remove Live ID authentication from user account

    I've just run in to a really annoying issue with Windows 8.1 - it seems I cannot remove the need to use Live ID credentials from an account without completely deleting that account. I know the process to do it - use the Disconnect link from the Accounts-Your account screen. The trouble comes when you get to the Switch to a local account screen, it will not let you enter the current account for the user name, instead you must enter a new one thus creating a new user account. Can I revert back to using just a local login without having to recreate the account? It seems quite retarded that I have to recreate the account, as deep down the only change required is which credential provider is used to authenticate the login. (Note that this Live ID linkage was created by using the Windows Store, not as a result of an upgrade from 8 to 8.1).

    In my query, I use the IIF function to assign either "Before" or "After" to a field named BeforeOrAfter using AS. When I run this query, however, the "Enter Parameter Value" dialog appears, requesting a value for BeforeOrAfter. If I remove BeforeOrAfter DESC from the ORDER BY clause, I don't get the dialog. Here is the offending query: SELECT d.Scenario, e.Event, IIF(d.LogTime < e.Time, 'Before','After') AS BeforeOrAfter, d.HeartRate FROM Data d INNER JOIN Events e ON d.Scenario = e.Scenario WHERE e.Include = Yes ORDER BY d.Scenario, e.Id, BeforeOrAfter DESC Question: Why is my AS BeforeOrAfter not being recognized by the ORDER BY clause? Why does it ask me to enter a parameter value for "BeforeOrAfter" when I run this query? Note: I tried using brackets, single quotes, double quotes, etc., but none of that made any difference.

    I have a live video streaming in my server using nginx + php. the php file reas a live streaming and it directly sends it to the client. I have only one problem. The problem is that i want each request to be in a new process of php-fpm. In a few words i don't want to have idle timeout for a process but instead i want them to close instant when a request is being closed. With idle timeout i have huge problems which are hard to explain at the moment but i'm really sure that if i disable the idle timeout everything will be perfect. Is there any way to do this? I'm using on demand php-fpm

    Apache webserver setup added: AddType application/x-mpegURL .m3u8 AddType video/MP2T .ts to "httpd.conf" file. Movie file preparation I have 3 movie files (9mb - 25mb each). Used QuickTime to convert movies into iPhone format. Used mediafilesegmenter to convert .m4v into 10-second segments of .ts files, with an accompanying .m3u8 file. Placed these in a folder on webserver. iPhone App implementation Created UIWebView whose URL points to http://71.191.59.68/~yujean/stream.html Simulator accesses the site and streams the movie-files just fine. Question Will I still get rejected by apple for bandwidth issues over the 3G and/or Edge network? Do I need to somehow check which network the end-user is on first? And then provide a different movie accordingly? If so, how do I do that ...? Thank you in advance, Eugene

    So I wrote a project-management program for a small business using Microsoft Access 2007. Now they've requested lots of additional features (timekeeping, privileged data tiers ...) I personally use Linux, but the whole office uses Windows. I'm relatively new to programming but like to teach myself using projects like this. I'm right on the edge on this -- I can't really tell what the path of least resistance here is: do I stay in access + VBA and teach myself a dying, annoying language -- while struggling against all the limitations of Access? Or do I move to something else? Python seems simple enough ... Whatever I use, i need to be able to offer a GUI.

    I'm trying to create Ranking that shows the sequence of agreements for the two fields Customers and Agreements. The number for agreements must be unique, whereas customers can repeat. The formula RankOfDup: (SELECT Count(*) FROM Data a WHERE a.customer=Data.customer And a.agreement >= Data.agreement) Works beautifully but after this query with columns Agreement, Customer and RankofDup, I need to create crosstab that transposes the RankofDub. It works when I make the table first and then create query but my data is too large so I'm trying to put the select query with the ranking in a crosstab query. However, when I try to do this Access gives error message that microsoft jet ... doesn't recognise Data.customer? Any ideas how I can fix this?
