  • Linq Aggregate on object and List

    - by Kris-I
    I do this query with NHibernate: var test = _session.CreateCriteria(typeof(Estimation)) .SetFetchMode("EstimationItems", FetchMode.Eager) .List(); An "Estimation" can have several "EstimationItems" (Quantity, Price and ProductId) I'd like a list of "Estimation" with these constraints : One line by "Estimation" code on the picture (ex : 2011/0001 and 2011/0003) By estimation (means on each line) the number of "EstimationItems" By Estimation (means on each line) the total price (Quantity * Price) for each "EstimationItems" I hope the structure will be clearer with the picture below. Thanks,

  • ASP.NET MVC image upload store location (db vs filesystem)

    - by adrin
    I am writing web application using ASP.NET MVC + NHibernate + Postres stack. I wonder if images uploaded should be stored in database as binary blobs or on filesystem (and reference only in db). One advantage of db storage I can think of is easy backup/recovery of all data without reverting to filesystem copy tools. On the other hand I suspect that filesystem access may be faster (but is it especially when dealing with many concurrent requests?) What are your suggestions?

  • Merge Function In Entity FrameWork?

    - by Ahmed
    In NHibernate there is a merge function that does the following: if there is a persistent instance with the same identifier currently associated with the session, copy the state of the given object onto the persistent instance if there is no persistent instance currently associated with the session, try to load it from the database, or create a new persistent instance the persistent instance is returned Is this possible in EF? I mean this part : copy the state of the given object onto the persistent instance. And if i used ApplyCurrentValues it seemes to be as update behavior or not?

  • Parent reference in automapped component

    - by asgerhallas
    In Fluent NHibernate, given an automapped component, is there a convention for setting up a parent reference back to the "holder" of the component? By having for example a property named Parent or something like that? I can't seem to find any information about how to do it or issues about it.

  • Mocking ISession.Query<T>() for testing consumer

    - by TheCloudlessSky
    I'm trying to avoid using an in memory database for testing (though I might have to do this if the following is impossible). I'm using NHibernate 3.0 with LINQ. I'd like to be able to mock session.Query<T>() to return some dummy values but I can't since it's an extension method and these are pretty much impossible to test. Does anyone have any suggestions (other than using an in memory database) for testing session queries with LINQ?

  • Why can't I reference child entities with part of the parent entities composite key

    - by tigermain
    I am trying to reference some child entities with part of the parents composite key not all of it, why cant I? This happens when I use the following mapping instead of that which is commented. I get the following error Foreign key in table VolatileEventContent must have same number of columns as referenced primary key in table LocationSearchView <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <hibernate-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2" namespace="JeanieMaster.Domain.Entities" assembly="JeanieMaster.Domain"> <class name="LocationSearchView" table="LocationSearchView"> <composite-id> <key-property name="LocationId" type="Int32"></key-property> <key-property name="ContentProviderId" type="Int32"></key-property> <key-property name="CategoryId" type="Int32"></key-property> </composite-id> <property name="CompanyName" type="String" not-null="true" update="false" insert="false"/> <property name="Description" type="String" not-null="true" update="false" insert="false"/> <property name="CategoryId" type="Int32" not-null="true" update="false" insert="false"/> <property name="ContentProviderId" type="Int32" not-null="true" update="false" insert="false"/> <property name="LocationId" type="Int32" not-null="true" update="false" insert="false"/> <property name="Latitude" type="Double" update="false" insert="false" /> <property name="Longitude" type="Double" update="false" insert="false" /> <bag name="Events" table="VolatileEventContent" where="DeactivatedOn IS NULL" order-by="StartDate DESC" lazy="false" cascade="none"> <key> <column name="LocationId"></column> <column name="ContentProviderId"></column> <!--<column name="LocationId"></column> <column name="ContentProviderId"></column> <column name="CategoryId"></column>--> </key> <one-to-many class="Event" column="VolatileEventContentId"></one-to-many> </bag> </class> </hibernate-mapping> And VolatileEventContent mapping file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <hibernate-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2" namespace="JeanieMaster.Domain.Entities" assembly="JeanieMaster.Domain"> <class name="Event" table="VolatileEventContent" select-before-update="false" optimistic-lock="none"> <composite-id> <key-property name="LocationId" type="Int32"></key-property> <key-property name="ContentProviderId" type="Int32"></key-property> </composite-id> <property name="Description" type="String" not-null="true" update="false" insert="false"/> <property name="StartDate" type="DateTime" not-null="true" update="false" insert="false" /> <property name="EndDate" type="DateTime" not-null="true" update="false" insert="false" /> <property name="CreatedOn" type="DateTime" not-null="true" update="false" insert="false" /> <property name="ModifiedOn" type="DateTime" not-null="false" update="false" insert="false" /> <many-to-one name="Location" class="Location" column="LocationId" /> <bag name="Artistes" table="EventArtiste" lazy="false" cascade="none"> <key name="VolatileEventContentId" /> <many-to-many class="Artiste" column="ArtisteId" ></many-to-many> </bag> </class> </hibernate-mapping>

    I've an mvc + nh asp.net application. On my dev machine (win 7 Ent) all works fine, if deployed on a Win 2k3 (tried 2 different vm and one phisical machine) I got the following error.. anyone can help? • Arguments of using WCF/OData as access layer instead of EF/L2S/nHibernate directly

    - by Carl Hörberg
    We develop mostly low traffic but highly specialized web applications. Normally we use L2S, EF or nHibernate as access layer and then throws Asp.Net MVC to it and in which for normal crud operations we query the ISession/DataContext directly but for more advanced functions/side effects we put it in a some kind of service layer. Now, i was think about publishing the data through OData (WCF Data Service) and query that from the controllers (or even from jQuery when the a good template engine shows up) and publish the service operations through a WCF service (or as custom methods on the WCF Data Service?). What advantages/disadvantages does this architecture poses? Do I gain something except higher complexity and latency? Better separations of concerns (or is it just a illusion)?

  • Fluent composite foreign key mapping

    - by Fionn
    Hi, I wonder if this is possible to map the following with fluent nhibernate: A document table and a document_revision table will be the target tables. The document_revision table should have a composite unique key consisting of the document_id and the revision number (where the document_id is also the foreign key to the document table). class Document { Guid Id; //other members omitted } class DocumentRevision { Guid document_id; //Part one of the primary key and also foreign key to Document.Id int revision; //Part two of the primary key //other members omitted }

  • HiLo: how to control Low values

    - by Sandor Drieënhuizen
    I'm using the HiLo generator in my S#rpArchitecture/NHibernate project and I'm performing a large import batch. I've read somewhere about the possibility to predict the Low values of any new records because they are generated on the client. I figure this means I can control the Low values myself or at least fetch the next Low value from somewhere. The reason I want to use this is that I want to set relations to other entities I'm about to insert. They do not exist yet but will be inserted before the batch transaction completes. However, I cannot find information about how to set the Low values or how to get what Low value is up next. Any ideas?

  • using second level cache vs pushing objects into the session

    - by AhmetC
    I have some big entities which are frequently accessed in same session. For example, in my application there is a reporting page which consist of dynamically generated chart images. For each chart image on page, client makes requests to corresponding controller and the controller generates images using some entities. I can either use asp.net's session dictionary for "caching" those entities or rely on nhibernate's second level cache support with using cached queries for example. What is your opinion? By the way I will use shared hosting, is second level cache hosting friendly? Thanks.

  • NDbUnit MySQL Assembly Version Conflict

    - by LnDCobra
    I am trying to use NHiberanate with NDbUnit but I cannot as NDbUnit tried to load MySql.Data version 1.0.10.1 and NHibernate tries to load version 6.2.2.0 and I can only reference one of them. Here is the error I get when i try to run NDbUnit Set Up System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'MySql.Data, Version=1.0.10.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d' or one of its dependencies. • Why can event handlers can only be bound to HttpApplication events during IHttpModule initialization

    - by Venemo
    This is just another "working in dev server, why not working in IIS" type question. So, I created a nice DAL using NHibernate as described here. When creating an ISession, I hook up an event handler to the HttpApplication.EndRequest to take care of cleaning it up. However, I deployed my site to IIS and it says: Event handlers can only be bound to HttpApplication events during IHttpModule initialization. Since when? What for? Why? How can I bypass it?

  • ASP.Net MVC and N-Tier

    - by Damien
    Greetings, Apologies in advance that I have not researched this toughly enough to answer the question myself, but I imagine it would take me some time and I would rather know now before I invest more time in learning it. I couldn't find anything in my initial research.. Why use ASP.Net MVC if your already using a multi-tier architecture (Data Layer, Logic Layer, Presentation Layer)? Other than the fact the controller has more power than the logic layer. Am I right in thinking I can use nHibernate and all my data access classes, entities, and mappings in the Model part of the MVC? When using controllers, is it best to separate a lot of the logic into a separate class so I can call it from multiple controllers? Or can I call them from the controllers themselves, considering the fact that I would not want all of them to be Actions, just normal methods. Thanks

  • Finding parents where child collection does not contain an item with a specific property value

    - by Colin Bowern
    I am trying to get a list of parents where the child collection does not contain an item of a specific type. The LINQ equivalent would be something like: dataset.Where(x => x.Items.FirstOrDefault(y => y.Type.Code == "ABC") == null) The object model is Parent Child (Items) Type Code If Parent is my aggregate root, how would I model this in NHibernate criteria/query? Here's my first attempt: var results = session.CreateCriteria<Parent>() .CreateCriteria("Items") .CreateCriteria("Type") .Add(Restrictions.Not(Restrictions.Eq("Code", "ABC"))) .SetResultTransformer(Transformers.DistinctRootEntity) .List<Parent>(); This doesn't seem to return the right entities - it just returns them all.

  • Best way to store enum values in database - String or Int

    - by inutan
    Hello there, I have a number of enums in my application which are used as property type in some classes. What is the best way to store these values in database, as String or Int? FYI, I will also be mapping these attribute types using fluent Nhibernate. Sample code: public enum ReportOutputFormat { DOCX, PDF, HTML } public enum ReportOutputMethod { Save, Email, SaveAndEmail } public class ReportRequest { public Int32 TemplateId { get { return templateId; } set { templateId = value; } } public ReportOutputFormat OutputFormat { get { return outputFormat; } set { outputFormat = value; } } public ReportOutputMethod OutputMethod { get { return outputMethod; } set { outputMethod = value; } } }

  • Problem using FluentNHibernate, SQLite and Enums

    - by weenet
    I have a Sharp Architecture based app using Fluent NHibernate with Automapping. I have the following Enum: public enum Topics { AdditionSubtraction = 1, MultiplicationDivision = 2, DecimalsFractions = 3 } and the following Class: public class Strategy : BaseEntity { public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual Topics Topic { get; set; } public virtual IList Items { get; set; } } If I create an instance of the class thusly: Strategy s = new Strategy { Name = "Test", Topic = Topics.AdditionSubtraction }; it Saves correctly (thanks to this mapping convention: public class EnumConvention : IPropertyConvention, IPropertyConventionAcceptance { public void Apply(FluentNHibernate.Conventions.Instances.IPropertyInstance instance) { instance.CustomType(instance.Property.PropertyType); } public void Accept(FluentNHibernate.Conventions.AcceptanceCriteria.IAcceptanceCriteria criteria) { criteria.Expect(x = x.Property.PropertyType.IsEnum); } } However, upon retrieval, I get an error regarding an attempt to convert Int64 to Topics. This works fine in SQL Server. Any ideas for a workaround? Thanks.

  • ActiveRecord Mapping

    - by Diego Dias
    Good morning, guys. I'm with a problem with the query that NHibernate generates. My mapping is like bellow: public class Matricula { [BelongsTo("IdTurma", NotNull=True)] public Turma {get;set;} } public class Turma { [BelongsTo("IdCurso", NotNull=True)] public Curso {get;set;} } public class Curso { [PrimaryKey("IdCurso", Generator=PrimaryKeyType.Identity)] public int IdCurso{get;set;} } The problem is: The Nh generates the query with left where should be inner. Between Matricula and Turma they makes inner, but between Turma and Curso they makes left outer. What's problem? What's wrong?

  • TooManyRowsAffectedException with encrypted triggers

    - by Jon Masters
    I'm using nHibernate to update 2 columns in a table that has 3 encrypted triggers on it. The triggers are not owned by me and I can not make changes to them, so unfortunately I can't SET NOCOUNT ON inside of them. Is there another way to get around the TooManyRowsAffectedException that is thrown on commit? Update 1 So far only way I've gotten around the issue is to step around the .Save routine with var query = session.CreateSQLQuery("update Orders set Notes = :Notes, Status = :Status where OrderId = :Order"); query.SetString("Notes", orderHeader.Notes); query.SetString("Status", orderHeader.OrderStatus); query.SetInt32("Order", orderHeader.OrderHeaderId); query.ExecuteUpdate(); It feels dirty and is not easily to extend, but it doesn't crater.

  • What is the equivalent of <composite-element> in Castle ActiveRecord?

    - by Daniel T.
    I have a TrackLog that has a collection of TrackPoints: public class TrackLog { public string Name { get; set; } public ISet<TrackPoint> TrackPoints { get; set; } } public class TrackPoint { public DateTime Timestamp { get; set; } public double Latitude { get; set; } public double Longitude { get; set; } } I'd like to map the track points as a collection of components, as this makes the most sense. According to the book NHibernate in Action, on page 187: Collections of components are mapped similarily to other collections of value type instances. The only difference is the use of <composite-element> in place of the familiar <element> tag. How would I do this using Castle ActiveRecord attributes?
