  • Better control on code updates

    I will briefly explain my situation. I have a website in PHP, this website is powered by a custom framework + some "plug-in" made ad hoc for it. I am the only developer of this. Until now I just test locally any changes than I upload the php files via FTP. I don't feel confortable anymore with this. The code base has grown quite a lot and I need some sort of system that helps to keep track of changes (line by line) and can restore to an old version easly if something goes wrong. Are there any good solution for this? Note: I never used something like version control or subversion because I think they are too much for this situation (I am the only developer and I just need basic feature) Note2: Something with a nice web interface would be perfect, I can pay for a good service too As now I found: http://beanstalkapp.com/ http://github.com/ http://www.codespaces.com/ http://codesion.com/ https://bitbucket.org/

    The SQL Server team has released SQL Server 2012 SP2 Cumulative Update #1. This cumulative updates Service Pack 2 to include the fixes from SP1 CU#10 and a few from CU#11, including the fix for the online index rebuild corruption issue I discussed recently on SQLPerformance.com .   • Firewall Deep Inspection Updates and Antivirus Subscription, worth it?

    I realize that this is a subjective question, but I'm trying to get some experiences We have Juniper firewalls in our organization (SSG-320M, SSG-5, and some old NS-5GT). We have the option of a yearly subscription for: Deep Inspection Signature Updates Juniper-Kaspersky Antivirus I seem similar services available from other Firewall vendors. We have Symantec Endpoint Protection deployed to all workstations and servers, plus a dedicated appliance for e-mail spam/virus filtering. So, I'm not sure what these firewall-base services will bring to the table that I don't already have. I would appreciate some feedback from people using these firewall services (Juniper or otherwise). Are these services generally worth it? Do they really catch anything? Do they interfere with normal traffic (false positives)?

    I'm trying to make a collider appear every 1 second. But I can't get the code right. I tried enabling the collider in the Update function and putting a yield to make it update every second or so. But it's not working (it gives me an error: Update() cannot be a coroutine.) How would I fix this? Documentation for the new versions of the following tools is available: JavaTest Harness 4.6. The JavaTest harness is a general purpose, fully-featured, flexible, and configurable test harness that is suited for most types of unit testing. See the JavaTest tab for documentation. SigTest 3.1. SigTest is a collection of tools that can be used to compare APIs and to measure the test coverage of an API. See the SigTest tab for documentation.   • JCP.Next Progress Updates

    JSR 355, JCP Executive Committee Merge, is currently nearing the end of the Public Review period.  Review the current draft here and provide feedback here.  The review closes on 12 June 2012.  The JCP Executive Committee met face to face in Sao Paulo, Brazil earlier in May, and has published a revision (version 2.1) of the EC Standing Rules.  The EC Standing Rules were introduced in October 2011 with the launch of JCP version 2.8 (JSR 348).  Version 2.1 of the EC Standing Rules will modify rules for attendance at EC face-to-face meetings. Remote observers will be permitted in "read-only" mode but unless a member attends in person they will be counted as absent.  The review period for these changes will close on June 30 2012.  Please comment on the proposed changes by logging an issue in the JCP EC issue tracker.

    I downloaded 12.10 a day after it was released. It is a little buggy in my system - shows the errors such as a problem has occurred frequently. The developers probably have fixed most of the issues by now. So I was wondering if I was to download a fresh copy of the distribution from ubuntu.com, will the distribution have all the bug patches and updates integrated? Or will I have to run update again to install the patches separately?

JSR 337,  Java SE 8 Release Contents, published an Early Draft Review. JSR 351, Java Identity API, published an Early Draft Review. JSR 360, Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) 8, passed the EC Public Review Ballot with 21 yes votes. JSR 361, Java ME Embedded Profile, passed the EC Public Review Ballot with 20 yes votes. JSR 107, JCACHE-Java Temporary Caching API, published an update to their JSR Community Update Page.  You can find schedule information (plans to submit Proposed Final Draft very soon), Adopt-a-JSR suggestions, and presentation material from JavaOne.

  • Caching preventing users seeing site updates

    I'm experiencing a caching issue I can't explain. This is happening across browsers, IPs and ISPs. If a user force-refreshes, they see the new content. If they then refresh or return to the page, the old one displays. I've tried using headers via PHP such as header( 'Expires: Sat, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT' ); header( 'Last-Modified: ' . gmdate( 'D, d M Y H:i:s' ) . ' GMT' ); header( 'Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate' ); header( 'Cache-Control: post-check=0, pre-check=0', false ); header( 'Pragma: no-cache' ); Laid out correctly, at the very beginning of the file. The problem persists. A pan-ISP proxy is unlikely. Suggestions?

  • Ubuntu 14.04 + nvidia-331-updates makes a blank desktop screen

    I upgraded my installation from 13.10 to 14.04. The problem is that whenever I install the Nvidia drivers from the GUI, upon reboot or trying to login again it only shows the wallpaper of my desktop and nothing else. The mouse does move around, but nothing works. I am unable to open a terminal or do anything else. If I go into the tty console and purge the drivers, then things seem to work again. I have an Optimus setup, with an onboard Intel and discrete Nvidia GTX770M card. It's a 64-bit architecture. I really need to work with CUDA, and was hopeful after hearing that nvidia-prime was released, but this is a real downer. Any help on this?
