  • How to change text via jQuery?

    - by Will Merydith
    I am trying to change the "show more" text depending on the state. This isn't working: <div id="description"> text goes here </div> <div id="more-less-container"> <a href="#" id="more-less">expand / collapse</a> </div> <script> var open = false; $('#more-less').click(function() { if (open) { $('#description').animate({height:'10em'}); $('#more-less').innerHTML ='show less'; } else { $('#description').animate({height:'100%'}); $('#more-less').innerHTML ='show more'; } open = !open; }); </script>

  • Is there a greasemonkey for IE? or, how do I get a website to use MSXML6 instead of MSXML5 ?

    - by Cheeso
    I don't know greasemonkey but I think it is a way to script or extend Firefox. Is there a greasemonkey for IE? for example: There's a website that is hosting a page that asks me to install MSXML5.0. I don't want MSXML5.0. I was thinking if I had a greasemonkey capability (if it is what I think it is), I'd be able to write a script that changes the 5.0 to 6.0 and everything would be cool. I know there's a way to do this kind of thing in Fiddler, if I have it running, and set up as a proxy.

  • trying to understand some codes related to window.onload in js

    - by user2507818
    <body> <script language="javascript"> window.tdiff = []; fred = function(a,b){return a-b;}; window.onload = function(e){ console.log("window.onload", e, Date.now() ,window.tdiff, (window.tdiff[1] = Date.now()) && window.tdiff.reduce(fred) ); } </script> </body> Above code is taken from a site. In firefox-console, it shows: window.onload load 1372646227664 [undefined, 1372646227664] 1372646227664 Question: For window.tdiff->[undefined, 1372646227664], why not:[], because when runs to code:window.tdiff, it is still an empty array? For window.tdiff.reduce(fred)->1372646227664, window.tdiff = [undefined, 1372646227664], undefined - 1372646227664, should be NaN, why it shows 1372646227664?

  • Chrome/IE table cell positioning help

    - by Checksum
    I am making a tiny script to make a HTML element editable. When you click on an element, it gets replaced with a textarea, and you can basically enter the new text. When you press enter, the textarea is replaced with the original element with its innerHTML updated. The demo of the script is here: http://iambot.net/demo/editable/ Now the problem is with the inline table editing. It works perfectly on FF 3.6, but on Chrome/Safari, once the value of a cell is updated, the position of the updated cell shifts to the right by the width of a cell.(Just try the demo in Chrome/Safari) It totally messes up the whole table. I am a beginner in CSS and not able to identify where exactly I'm going wrong. Any help/pointers appreciated! Thanks.

  • Getting rails to execute root level file edits on system files without compromising security.

    - by voxobscuro
    I'm writing a Rails 3 application that needs to be able to trigger modifications to unix system config files. I'd like to insulate the file modifications from the consumer side by running them in a background process. I've considered writing out a temp file in rails and then copying the file with a bash script but that doesn't really insulate the system. I've also considered pulling from the database manually with a cron based script and updating the configs. But what I would really like is a component that can hook into the rails environment, read out what is needed from the database, and update the config files. This process needs to be run as root because the config files mostly live in /etc/whatever. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Recursive MySQL function call eats up too much memory and dies.

    - by kylex
    I have the following recursive function which works... up until a point. Then the script asks for more memory once the queries exceed about 100, and when I add more memory, the script typically just dies (I end up with a white screen on my browser). public function returnPArray($parent=0,$depth=0,$orderBy = 'showOrder ASC'){ $query = mysql_query("SELECT *, UNIX_TIMESTAMP(lastDate) AS whenTime FROM these_pages WHERE parent = '".$parent."' AND deleted = 'N' ORDER BY ".$orderBy.""); $rows = mysql_num_rows($query); while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)){ // This uses my class and places the content in an array. MyClass::$_navArray[] = array( 'id' => $row['id'], 'parent' => $row['parent'] ); MyClass::returnPArray($row['id'],($depth+1)); } $i++; } Can anyone help me make this query less resource intensive?

  • Online image resizer

    - by Happy
    Searching for some script or service for online image resizing. I should have the ability to throw my imagelink, like http://site.com/bigimage.jpg, and it must give me this image after resizing like http://site-were-image-resized.com/sdf4234f21f.png. It would be amazing, if I can give some values, like height and width. If I upload script on my own site, it should have the ability to resize external images from some domains. Tryed to use http://www.darrenhoyt.com/demo/timthumb/, but it doesn't work with external images.

  • what's the javascript "var _gaq = _gaq || []; " for ?

    - by parvas
    The Async Tracking in google analytics looks like this: var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-XXXXX-X']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); About The first line var _gaq = _gaq || []; I think it ensures that if _gaq is already defined we should use it otherwise we should an array. Can anybody explain what this is for ? Also, does it matter if _gaq gets renamed ? in other words does google analytics rely on a global object named _gaq ? Thanks Parvas

  • jquery insert a html block so it starts before the target and ends after the target - is this possib

    - by Chris
    Hi all, I understand you can add insert blocks of html before and after a target using before(), insertBefore(), after() and insertAfter(). I tried to do something similar to this <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("p").before("<div class='myContainer'>"); $("p").after("</div>"); }); </script> <p>paragraph</p> But the inject seems to automatically create closing tags for me, is there a way around this? Cheers

  • Change URL of a saved HTML file

    - by Paul Camilleri
    I am new to HTML so this question might sound a bit lame. Anyways I have a saved webpage on my desktop that when i open it in google chrome i want it to show a specific URL instead of its current location. Any ideas how i might get this to work? I tried using the history.pushState but i have no idea why it is not working. I created a simple page for now to test it: <html> <head> <script> function setURL() { history.pushState("Test","page2", "www.test.com"); } </script> </head> <body> <button type="button" onclick="setURL()">Set Url</button> </body> </html> Any help would be greatly appreciated. • External files (css, js) in embedded jetty

    - by user1938185
    With jetty, you can easily produce "html" response importing external file like : <head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="myStyle.css"> <script src="myScript.js"></script> <head> However, where do you put myStyle.css and myScript.js, when jetty is embedded? Especially when the jetty server is a large OpenSource project not written by you? Is there by any chance a nice out.println(???); in the servlet.doGet that would provide the answer, or something similar?

  • Problem with a large CSV file

    - by moustafa
    I have a very large CSV file. 51427 lines to be exact. I need to import the entire file into a MySQL database, however, the script times out due to server settings and slow connection (and maybe other reasons that I am not aware of). So - I am now passing parameters START and LIMIT via address bar to import, like this: http://my.server.address/import.php?...000&limit=1000 This reads the entire CSV file into an array, and starts at line 10000 of the array and inserts into the database until it reaches line 11000, and then terminates the script. This works very nicely, however, I am not happy having to reach the entire 51427 lines of the CSV file into an array before processing. Is there not a way where I can only read the required lines into an array? That would speed things up significantly.

  • javascript will not work onload

    - by user2711818
    The javascript on the page needs to work onpage load. So I tried adding the document ready function into the code. It doesn't seem to work. http://janeucreative.com/daddychallenge/bag.html <script>$(document).ready(function() { function addItem(item) { var itemInCart = item.cloneNode(true); itemInCart.onclick = function() { removeItem(this); }; var cart = document.getElementById("cart"); cart.appendChild(itemInCart); } function removeItem(item) { var itemInItems = item.cloneNode(true); itemInItems.onclick = function() { addItem(this); }; var cart = document.getElementById("cart"); cart.removeChild(item); } init(); });</script> Any advice would be much appreciated! I'm very new to javascript and just trying to learn it a step at a time.

  • Is this a php memory leak?

    - by mseifert
    I have memory_get_usage() in the footer of my page and with each refresh of the page, I watch it increase by about 100k each time. My page load creates many objects and destroys them when done . My parent objects each have __destruct() which uses unset() with all child objects. Child objects with a reference back to the parent, have __destruct() to unset() these references. Inserting memory_get_usage() before and after processing different parts of my page only tells me how much of the total usage was added due to that part of the script. How do I go about determining what memory is lost and not recycled for garbage collection after the page finishes loading? I have one global $_SESSION var containing objects storing user info, but have verified using strlen(serialize($object)) that this object is not growing in size. I presume that what I am seeing is a memory leak and that php garbage collection should be in effect after the script ends. Any ideas how to debug this?

  • difficulty with deleting a function from jquery snippet

    - by user1691389
    I'm trying to get rid of a function that appends a loading gif while the script is busy ajax'ing in new content, but I keep breaking the script so I'm posting it here hoping someone can just kindly edit it for me correctly. (I'd like to get rid of everything that has to do with #load and keep everything else intact.) $('#header_nav_content_container a, a.scroll_to_top, a.clear_banner, a.desire').not('.exception').click(function(){ var toLoad = $(this).attr('href')+' #content'; $('#content').hide(1555,'easeInOutQuint',loadContent); $('#load').remove(); $('body').append('<span id="load">LOADING...</span>'); $('#load').fadeIn(888); window.location.hash = $(this).attr('href').substr(0,$(this).attr('href').length-0); function loadContent() { $('#content').load(toLoad,'',showNewContent); } function showNewContent() { $('#content').show(777,'',hideLoader); } function hideLoader() { $('#load').fadeOut(888); } return false; }); Thanks for your help.

  • How can I start a new glutMainLoop() after exiting one?

    - by angaran
    I've written a PERL script using OpenGL. It calls glutMainLoop() to let the user view some stuff, then the user closes the window but I want to let him continue using the script and reopening a new window and seeing some other stuff. Is that possible? I've found that it is possible to execute this instruction: glutSetOption(GLUT_ACTION_ON_WINDOW_CLOSE,GLUT_ACTION_GLUTMAINLOOP_RETURNS); to return to the code after the window is closed. But then if I call again a glut* function it tells me that I can't call it without calling glutInit and if I call glutInit it tells me that I can't just call it again! Is there some trick?
