• Difficulty Inserting from HTML form into MySQL (created in Workbench)

  I created a MySQL database in Workbench 5.2.35 for purposes of storing and using information submitted in html forms but I'm having difficulty inserting records from the html form. The relevant SQL script was saved as Demo2.sql, the schema is C2F, and the table is customer_info. I wasn't sure if that was the problem, so I tried replacing the database name (Demo2) with the schema name, but that didn't work either. • make java plugin use the browser certificates

  We have a java applet that communicates with a spring application running on tomcat and using spring's http invoker. We want to secure the applet using ssl with client authentication, we have a jsp page for login, after successful login the applet loads. The jsp page is secured with ssl, when the applet loads the http invoker inside the applet is doing a second handshake apparently not related to the browser handshake, OK, I don't mind that, but I want the java plugin to use browser certificates and client certificates but its not, I have to load the client certificate to the java plugin also using the java ControlPanel, and if my server's certificate is self signed then I have to load the server certificate also to the java ControlPanel and to the nrowser. Another thing is when the applet starts loading the java plugin pops a dialog asking for the client keystore password, I would like to avoid that. So to conclude: I would like the java plugin to use the browser's trusted certificates and client certificates, and to avoid the keystore password dialog that pops up. I have googled for it for two days and can't find any clue of how to accomplish that. I will appreciate any help. I'm using jdk 1.6.0 u23 and firefox 3.6.13.

• Replacing mysql user authentication with openid

  So, I'm working with a really old system which uses a person's mysql database credentials to authenticate to a web site (the database was originally only accessed from the command line, but is now accessed from a php frontend). Because of some internal reasons (and to preserve the user's history), I have to leave the old authentication intact. I've been charged with adding openid authentication to this system. Somehow I need to be able to retrieve a users mysql username and password upon logging into the site through openid (using the Zend framework, by the way). I've thought of simply requiring registration at the first login, where the user must provide their mysql credentials, but I'd rather not store the password plain text. I've also considered blanking everyone's mysql passwords, and just setting the user's mysql username manually (rather than having the user provide this, since they could provide any username). This is turning into a security nightmare. Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives? This is running on a Linux server, by the way. Also, I can't use mysql pluggable authentication because the mysql version is 5.0 (pluggable authentication requires mysql 5.5), and no, I can't update it.

I have created the first table, but not the second one for some reason. • How to enforce jsf to create new instance of bean instead of throwing NullPointerException?

  I'm almost sure that I do something wrong and thus the question's title is a bit incorrect. I have a form with several fields for creating a new User-objects (fields like login, password, birthday etc). And I have 2 buttons - Cancel and Create. I didn't finish Create yet :) , but when I press Cancel I see NullPointerException. • Paypal Sandbox 2014 Non US test account Sign Up proper link

  Ok I had a Paypal Sandbox account a year ago. I am developing a new site for a client and when I try to Login it won't recognize my email address. I tried forgot my password forgot password still nothing. So I guessed that maybe due to inactivity for such a long time they may have deleted my account. So then I try to Sign Up for a new one. I entered my details 3 times now and spent 6 hours trying to figure out what is the proper link to do this. Then I went to another Sandbox link which required me to entered a US Zip code and its a dead end. I am not even sure which Paypal account I signed up for those three times. No email nothing at all. I am a Non US developer and the FAQ link for Non US developers just points to their REST API. Can someone please guide me to the proper Paypal Sandbox Setup for Non US developers including the proper sign up links please. And I know Stackoverflow does not like rants but from my experience dealing with Paypal, GTA 6 should make a satirical Paypal company in their next Game with Paypal Developer Rampage mode for the main protagonist who also happens to be a Developer. EDIT: REST API does not include UK :(

• I have data about deadlocks, but I can't understand why they occur (MS SQL/ASP.NET MVC)

  I am receiving a lot of deadlocks in my big web application. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2941233/how-to-automatically-re-run-deadlocked-transaction-asp-net-mvc-sql-server Here I wanted to re-run deadlocked transactions, but I was told to get rid of the deadlocks - it's much better, than trying to catch the deadlocks. So I spent the whole day with SQL profiler, setting the tracing keys etc. And this is what I got. There's a Users table. I have a very high usable page with the following query (it's not the only query, but it's the one that causes troubles) UPDATE Users SET views = views + 1 WHERE ID IN (SELECT AuthorID FROM Articles WHERE ArticleID = @ArticleID) And then there's the following query in ALL pages: User = DB.Users.SingleOrDefault(u => u.Password == password && u.Name == username); That's where I get User from cookies. Very often a deadlock occurs and this second LINQ TO SQL query is chosen as a victim, so it's not run, and users of my site see an error screen. I read a lot about deadlocks... And I don't understand why this is causing a deadlock. So obviously both of this queries run very often. At least once a second. Maybe even more often (300-400 users online). So they can be run at the same time very easily, but why does it cause a deadlock? Please help. Thank you

  Hi, I have a Windows domain within which a machine is running SQL Server 2005 and which is configured to support only Windows authentication. I would like to run a C# client application on a machine on the same network, but which is NOT on the domain, and access a database on the SQL Server 2005 instance.   I am writing an app to connect to a third party application using REST web services. I have a configuration page that asks for an IP, Port, User Name & Password, currently it just blindly assumes you enter the correct details and attempts a connection. I want to create a test routine that goes through and checks off the following steps when setting up the config information Is the IP/Hostname correct (using ping or something) Is the Port correct Is the Username & Password correct then displays the results on screen as it's going so that if it can't connect to the service it's easier to identify where the issue is. To achieve step 1 I would like to use Ping or some equivalent that does not rely on a particular port being open. So I can eliminate dodgy DNS or a typo in the IP/Hostname. I understand from previous questions asked that ping wasn't possible in 7.0 but with Mango the sockets classes have been added in, is it possible now, if so how? If it still isn't possible is there a different way I can achieve step 1?

  I know this question has been asked over and over again, but I still haven't found the perfect answer for my liking, so here it goes again... I've been reading lots and lots polarizing comments about CI's xss_filter. Basically majority says that it's bad. Can someone elaborate how it's bad, or at least give 1 most probable scenario where it can be exploited? I've looked at the security class in CI 2.1 and I think it's pretty good as it doesn't allow malicious strings like document.cookie, document.write, etc. If the site has basically non-html presentation, is it safe to use global xss_filter (or if it's REALLY affecting performance that much, use it on per form post basis) before inserting to database ? I've been reading about pros and cons about whether to escape on input/output with majority says that we should escape on output only. But then again, why allow strings like <a href="javascript:stealCookie()">Click Me</a> to be saved in the database at all? The one thing I don't like is javascript: and such will be converted to [removed]. Can I extend the CI's security core $_never_allowed_str arrays so that the never allowed strings return empty rather than [removed]. The best reasonable wrongdoing example of this I've read is if a user has password of javascript:123 it will be cleaned into [removed]123 which means string like this document.write123 will also pass as the user's password. Then again, what is the odds of that to happen and even if it happens, I can't think of any real harm that can do to the site. Thanks

But this AlarmManager is meant to be run in the background (that is application will be alive only for the first few calls of the o fthe alrmamanager to the broadcast recevier) My Question Will AlarmManager make a copy of the global variables(the username and password) and maintain this copy to be passed along with the intent? Because, these values will be used in the broadcast receiver.

• How to make cakePHP retreive the data represented by a foreign key?

  Greetings cake experts, I have a question that I think would really help a lot of people getting started with cakePHP. I have a feeling it will be easy for some of you, but it is quite challenging to me. I have a simple database with multiple tables. I can't figure out how to make cakePHP display the values associated with a foreign key in an index view. Or create a view where the fields of my choice (the ones that make sense to users like location name - not location_id can be updated or viewed on a single page). I have created an example at http://lovecats.cakeapp.com that illustrate the question. If you look at the page and click the "list cats", you will notice that it shows the location_id field from the locations table. You will also notice that when you click "add cats", you must choose a location_id from the locations table. This is the automagic way that cakePHP builds the app. I want this to be the field location_name. The database is setup so that the table cats has a foreign key called location_id that has a relationship to a table called locations. This is my problem: I want these pages to display the location_name instead of the location_id. If you want to login to the application, you can go to http://cakeapp.com/sqldesigners/sql/lovecats and the password 'password' to look at the db relationships, etc. How do I have a page that shows the fields that I want? And is it possible to create a page that updates fields from all of the tables at once? This is the slice of cake that I have been trying to figure out and this would REALLY get me over a hump. • PHP PDO changes remote host to local hostname

  I'm trying to connect to a remote mysql server using PDO. However, regardless of the hostname or ip address i supply in the dsn, when the script is run it always reverts the address to the hostname of the local server where the webserver is running. Google suggests this could be something to do with SELinux and apaches ability to connect to remote databases, however i have SELinux disabled. Distro: Ubuntu 11.04 x64 Apache version: 2.2.17 PHP Version: PHP 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.11 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) Edit: Added code as requested. • Mysql configuration problem

  I have being trying since last night. At first it was working but this morning again its not working. I am installing mysql version 5.0 on vista machine. when i try to configure its says that: The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connnection had failed with the following error: Error Nr. 1045 access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'(using password:yes) if a personal firewall is runnig on your machine plaes make sure you have opened the tcp port 3306 for connections. otherwise no client applicaion can connect to the server. after you have opened the port please press retry to apply the secirity settings. if you are re-installing after you just installed the mysql server please not that the data directory was not removed automatically. therefore the old password from your last installation is still needed to connect to the server. in this case please select skip now and re-run the configuration wizard from the start menu. i tried disabling the wirefall, user accounts but getting the same error. can anyone suggest me something please.

• gmail app 504 server timeout

  this is the part of code I use for getting info from gmail, it's working alright on my localhost, but somehow when i deploy it online, I got 504 gateway timeout error. • DB Strategy for inserting into a high read table (Sql Server)

  Looking for strategies for a very large table with data maintained for reporting and historical purposes, a very small subset of that data is used in daily operations. Background: We have Visitor and Visits tables which are continuously updated by our consumer facing site. These tables contain information on every visit and visitor, including bots and crawlers, direct traffic that does not result in a conversion, etc. Our back end site allows management of the visitor's (leads) from the front end site. Most of the management occurs on a small subset of our visitors (visitors that become leads). The vast majority of the data in our visitor and visit tables is maintained only for a much smaller subset of user activity (basically reporting type functionality). This is NOT an indexing problem, we have done all we can with indexing and keeping our indexes clean, small, and not fragmented. ps: We do not currently have the budget or expertise for a data warehouse. The problem: We would like the system to be more responsive to our end users when they are querying, for instance, the list of their assigned leads. Currently the query is against a huge data set of mostly irrelevant data. I am pondering a few ideas. One involves new tables and a fairly major re-architecture, I'm not asking for help on that. The other involves creating redundant data, (for instance a Visitor_Archive and a Visitor_Small table) where the larger visitor and visit tables exist for inserts and history/reporting, the smaller visitor1 table would exist for managing leads, sending lead an email, need leads phone number, need my list of leads, etc.. The reason I am reaching out is that I would love opinions on the best way to keep the Visitor_Archive and the Visitor_Small tables in sync... Replication? Can I use replication to replicate only data with a certain column value (FooID = x) Any other strategies?
