• [WM6] Owner of a component. What exactly is this for?

  I am developing an app for Windows Mobile 6 and there is a CameraCaptureDialog class that enables me to call a camera app from my own application. The class has an Owner property that most examples on the internet set to "this". cam.Owner = this; What exactly does this do? I've seen a similar scenario with Windows Forms components/controls by setting the Parent control. In that case I guess it's used only for layout algorithms, but other than that, is there any useful purpose? I don't see how setting an owner of the CameraCaptureDialog can (and actually does not) make any difference (at least not a visible one). Any insight would be appreciated.

• onTextChanged Event for many Textboxes c#

  Hi, I am currently building a prototype for a new system screen, and i am using c# to build this. The question i have is, i currently have 14 textboxes which are filled from a condition from a couple of other controls on the screen. these 14 textboxes all add up to a total shown in another textbox. as these textboxes are editable (in case the client wishes to increase the value) (cant go into to much detail but they will) I need to have a firable ontextchange event for when the values change so the total box updates. however i have a feeling there must be a way of not having to create 14 different events, is there a way that i can have 1 event which fires if any of the 14 text boxes are fired? thanks Alan

• Debugging kernel hang

  I am trying to run an app which is using a kernel mode driver. System locks up every hour and the only way to recover it is a hard reset. Sysrq stops responding, telnet sessions hang and there are no error messages of any kind. Unfortunately the board does not have ejtag support. I have been trying to isolate it functionally, but this is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Any suggestions? PS: This is a mips linux system (2.6.31).

I am getting the output result exactly what I am expecting... now I have one more action result calls LIST( List for that Deatils).. when User click on any row in the Jquery grid I need to pass ID( for that Employee to the DB2 to get that Employee List) and this Grid I need to show i nthe bottom of the first grid, Like If I click on second row I need to pass the ID to the DB2 to get second user result to display on the second grid. can anybody help me with the code.. • Problem setting focus to validationsummary control after validation

  Hi, I have a validationsummary control which displays the summary of a few validationrequired controls and all of them belong to a validationgroup. My submit button also has the same validationgroup so it validates everything upon it being clicked. The problem i am having is setting the focus to the validationsummary control after validation occurs when my submit button is clicked. The focus goes to the top of my webform. I need the focus to be put at the validationsummary control. How do i achieve this? FYI:SetFocusOnError="true" did not work. Thanks for reading.

• CRXIR2 doesn't work with VS2010 on Windows 7 nor on Vista

  We're upgrading from VS2005 to VS2010. We are almost there but there is a problem with Crystal Reports. We use the RDC (COM-based) component within our C++ application. On Windows 7 or on VISTA, I can't get the viewer nor the designer controls working. I get Access Violations when the control is activated: // from atlhost.h (line 2208) hr = m_spOleObject->DoVerb(OLEIVERB_INPLACEACTIVATE, NULL, spClientSite, 0, m_hWnd, &m_rcPos); The strange thing is that when I run the same exe on a XP machine, it seems to work. We basically use "AtlAxWin100" window class to host the Crystal report control ("CrystalReports11.ActiveXReportViewer.1") in. I'm using the SP6 version of Crystal reports so that's the latest version. Also, when I compile the same code with VS2005 and run it on Windows7 or Vista everything works out just fine. Does anybody have any idea about what might cause the problem, or ideas for further investigations?

  I am trying to create a Validation in a reusable fashion. Purpose: Make the validation control reusable. Error Provider should associate with control passed dynamically and can be set or cleared at run time.   I'm learning WPF with MVVM and for a starter, I viewed Jason Dolinger's video on MVVM . In that he mentioned, that one of the advantage of using MVVM with WPF is two-way data binding. My question is what does he mean by two-way data binding? Is that the feature of ability to 1) bind data from controls(View) to properties in VM and 2) any change in collections or properties are reflected in the view? If I'm wrong, can anyone please explain me in detail what it is and what are its advantages? This might be a very simple doubt, but I'm very new to WPF and it's terminologies and moving away from WinForms now.

• "Thread-Safe Calls" with "Invoke" method to Winform control leads very heavy memory leak!!

But if the thread is in a while loop, it will cause the heavy memory leak. As I use taskmanage I can see the memory is increasing. • C# Processing Enter Key on Custom Container

  I am currently building a custom container control. Everything was going along smoothly until I hit a snag during testing. I noticed that the Enter key is not getting processed to the control that has focus inside the container. Everything else works as expected though. I am able to click the button with either the mouse or space bar, but enter does not want to get processed. After doing endless searches on container controls and processing the enter key I have come up with no solution. I tried returning Enter as true in IsInputKey(Keys keyData) and that didn't work. Neither did setting KeyPreview on the form. I have tried it with my custom button and .NET's standard button. Like I mentioned earlier, spacebar will trigger the desired effect. Please tell me what I am missing. There has to be an easy / stupid simple way to get Enter to process over to the active child control.

• Is there a recommended command for "hg bisect --command"?

  I have an emergent bug that I've got to track down tomorrow. I know a previous hg revision which was good so I'm thinking about using hg bisect. However, I'm on Windows and don't want to get into DOS scripting. Ideally, I'd be able to write a Python unit test and have hg bisect use that.   I'm tying to use one database call and reuse that data for other controls - without having to do another call. Scenario: I call the books table which returns all the authors and titles. I create an author's list control called list1 to displays all the titles by Shakespeare and a list2 to display titles by Charles Dickens. • Differnece between the IE6 and IE8 for Asp.net MVC

  I am working on my Office PC I dont have, I dont not have Admin rights to download IE8 in my PC..currently I am working in asp.net mvc application with IE6 Browser..some of the things are not working in IE6 for my application, can any body explain me what is the Differnce between IE6 and IE8 for web application, is there any chance that if the web pages are not showing correctly in IE6 it wil show in IE8? Ex: I used Microsoft Charting Controls to dispaly Pie chart for my applciation. the pie chart displaying in Firefox but not in IE6 Ex: some of the checkbox check events not working in IE6 but its working with Firefox. what is the good way to test wihout instaling IE8 on my PC? is there any tools are there? any documents to refer these stuff..? thanks

  I'm attempting to use 'jQuery Validate' on a form that requires an email address plus either all items of a shipping address completed or none at all. Using the sample provided by the solution to this question: jQuery Validate - “Either skip these fields, or fill at least X of them”, I have been able to successfully solve the validation of the address group. The problem, however, is that the logic for validating the email address field does not work. From debugging the Validate scripts, the "re-entrant" validation code triggered by calling 'fields.data('being_validated', true).valid();' in the linked example results in a reset of all previously validated errors (i.e. the email validation error is cleared). I have modified some existing samples, the first in which removes the offending line and the second with it included.   Hi, I have deployed my application on subdomain.domain.com (it works only on that one subdomain). Everything works fine except the fact that from time to time users cannot log in to application (the message "Looks like your browser isn't configured to accept cookies. Please enable cookies, reload this page, and try again" is shown when trying to log into admin panel). I've noticed that restarting the web server eliminates this problem for some time. Does anyone have experience with setting up django project on subdomain and can guide me how to configure my application to make it work correctly without need to ocasionally make reset?

• ScrollViewer GridView XAML

  I am currently building a Windows 8 XAML C# application. In a page I have a scrollviewer for horizontal swiping and scrolling. I have several controls in it which work really well with the scorllviewer. But when you scroll and your cursor is on top of the ListView / GridView, then that control will handle scrollnig instead of the scrollviewer. With swiping this doesn't happen, but with the mouse scrollwheel it stops the scrollvieweing scroll. Does anybody know how to disable this behavior or have a workaround?

  I have the misfortune of having use conio.h in vc++ 6 for a college assignment, My problem is that my graphic setup is in the center of the screen... e.g. gotoxy( getcols()/2, getrows()/2); printf("Enter something"); scanf( "%d", &something ); now if someone accidentally hits enter before they enter the "something", then the cursor gets reset to the left of the screen on the next line. Iv tried flushing the keyboard and bios buffers with fflush(stdin) and getchar(), which like I expected didn't work! Any help/ideas would be appreciated, Thanks, V

• Magento Search returns All Products

  I have set up a website (www.autobodypartsnow.com) and the search function has gone haywire. Whenever you search for anything, it returns every product in the system making it useless. I have fiddled around with it with no prevail. I have done the Like and FullText thing in the Configuration - nothing. I have reset the Search and FS cache. I have actually gone in the product attributes and disabled all the attributes from being searchable (just to see) and Rebuilt the Search Cache, cleared the FS cache and it still does the same thing - which tells me that something it pretty wrong.   Recently I use data binding to speed up my development of C# winforms application. But I found that data binding is just useful when the control is Textbox or textare and text kind of controls. If things come to be radio button, image control or datagridview, it's hard for me to use data binding. For example, it's hard for me to bind a group of radio button to a database field. It's hard for me to pre-process the data in database and then bind to datagridview control(I know I can use view to do this, but it is not that convenient) So I really want to know, most of you guys when will use data binding? • Web Service appears as website instead of developer web server

  I recently reimaged my PC and regrabbed one of our projects from Source Safe. In our solution we have a web service that normally runs on a server, however we can build the webservice on our localhost for debugging as well. However, now whenever I grab the project from source safe it is building the webservice as a website instead of a developer web server. This is causing a variety of issue, specifically I am no longer able to specify which port I would like that webservice to use. As a result I cannot connect to our database through my local webservice. How can I change the project in my solution that controls the webservice from a website to a developer web server? • How do I create a SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services Template to a Default Font?

  I'm creating a new template to create reports from at a later date. I know how to create one, and I know where to save it. However, the problem is this. Everything that is created on the report uses the default font of Arial with a size of 10pt. I need to set mine to default to Tahoma 11pt. I can create a mock title, mock tables, etc and save those to Tahoma 11pt, but any new controls that are used on any version of this report will default back to Arial 10pt. How do I fix this?

Why does it not add work for subssequent clicks. • Why are not all texts of my MFC applicatiopn displayed using ClearType?

  I've got an MFC application that is built with VC6. When ClearType is enabled (Windows XP) some texts are rendered smoothly, i.e. with ClearType, and others are not. Dialog texts don't seem to ever get rendered with ClearType. Some list controls, however, have it enabled completely, others only in their headers. What could be the reason for this? Where should I look to find out why it works only in some places and doesn't in others?
