  I'm on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). What's the best way to find a folder for which I'm not sure of the full name? For example, I know the folder name I want is like: "farm-animal-type" But the full name may be something like: "farm-animal-type-horse" On Windows, I would just use the find tool through Windows Explorer.

  I am looking to release and renew my IP address in OS X 10.4 using Terminal. Essentially, I need the OS X equivalent of Windows: C:\ ipconfig /release C:\ ipconfig /renew However, I need the interface to remain active during this process, so using ifconfig down/up will not work. I believe I can clear the IP with ifconfig delete but I'm not sure how to get the dhcp client to reassign the address. An article from 2002 suggests using set dhcp but Apple's ifconfig man page does not include this information.

  If an office workstation is turned on, either in wake/sleep/logged off/logged in mode, is it possible to remote desktop into that workstation given that I have full admin priviledge to the Windows Server and Active Directory governing the authentication? The following ACL entry is active as the first rule that applies: {0}to dn.subtree="ou=some,ou=where,ou=beneath,dc=the,dc=rain,dc=bow" attrs=entry,children by users write Now the strange thing that happens is that given that rule I can add an entry to the respective DN but if I want to modify it with the very same user, then I get 0x32 (LDAP_INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS) Can someone give me a hint what the problem could be?

• KeePass does not offer `Open with Google Chrome`

  I'm using KeePass and Google Chrome (not plug-ins) for quite some time. I have reinstalled my operating system (Windows 7) and both KeePass and Google Chrome and since then, when I right-click an entry and chose URL I don't have the Open with Google Chrome option - only internet explorer is available. Seems like KeePass did not recognize Chrome - any idea how to fix it? I re-installed KeePass but did not reinstall Chrome yet.

  There are times when instead of scrolling vertically in file explorer I accidentally move a folder to within another folder. Great! It happens so quick I don't know which folder was moved and this means I just screwed up an application installation. Is there a way to undo this operation?   My cable TV company gives me a Cisco Explorer 8640HDC DVR box that can record shows from TV. I know that it contains a hard drive to save the shows on. What format and file system are used to store the videos on the hard drive? I have looked at the documentation for this DVR box and there is no technical information about the manner in which recordings are stored. Is it possible to connect the hard drive to a computer and extract the recordings from it?

  I have used Visio to map out my network structure, and have used the export function to create an HTML page that is searchable by IP, hostname etc. This is a really nice tool and I use it often. However, I would like for users who do not use Internet Explorer to be able to use the search features. What are some alternatives to Visio here? • Why are all google website suddenly giving untrusted certificate warnings in my Firefox v10?

  Today, I am suddenly getting the untrusted website error for all Google websites, but not for any other. Internet Explorer gives no such error. Reboot of this Windows 7 computer does not help. Is this some kind of virus infection that is hijacking DNS resolution away from Google to some spoofer? How can I resolve this issue and get Google websites working again normally? If I manually enter a Google IP Address, the page loads correctly.

  I'm trying to measure would it be better to have prefork or worker mpm apache module for the server I'm working on, which is Amazon X-Large 15 GB memory 8 EC2 Compute Units (4 virtual cores with 2 EC2 Compute Units each) and that will run a Magento website with about 50 active users at once. Site serves a lot of images and about 45 requests per page. Images sometimes hang, so it seems worker would be a better option? Thanks

  From time to time I want to copy and paste a portion of a web document (viewed in both IE Explorer 7 and 8) into MS Word 2007. The selected text copies and pastes fine, but I am left with only place holders for the images (png). Right clicking the image and clicking copy, then pasting into MS Word doesn't work either. If I paste the image into MS Paint and copy it from there, I can paste it into the Word document. What gives?

  I restarted my system today and after logging in, i could see see nothing but a black screen with mouse pointer. I can start task manager via alt+ctrl+del, Task manager and msconfig show fine but when i try to run 'explorer' nothing happens. In safe mode everything seems fine. I do not have any system restore points and repair options from the DVD show "this option is not available for the selected OS" I've also updated my graphic drivers. Didn't help

  Normally we create service accounts in Active Directory, and if we install things like SQL Server, etc, we set the software services we set them to use those service accounts. The service accounts don't have the ability to be used to log into a workstation interactively. For Proof of concepts, we're installing SQL Server and other software on Virtual windows 7 workstations that aren't part of a domain, so we are creating local accounts that will be used by windows services. Is it possible to stop those users from appearing as options on the login screen?

• How to show the "Home" folder for SSRS 2008 in SQL Management Studio

  I just installed SSRS 2008 on a development server and when I connect to it with SQL Management Studio I do not have all of the items in Object Explorer that I had with our SSRS 2005 installation. For example, we are missing the "Home" folder which lists all the reports. When we browse to our /ReportServer URL we can view and run our reports, so I know they are on the server. Does anyone know if this is a permissions issue or something else?

• Is it safe to run two instances of svnserve on one repository, or only one?

  We've two nodes running heartbeat/drbd, and one of the services we're using is subversion. What I want to know is: is it safe to run svnserve on both nodes all the time, or should it only run on the active node? Does svnserve use file-level locking, or is it all in memory? What are the implications of running svnserve without its repositories accessible? Please let me know if this isn't clear, and I'll try my best to rephrase/clarify. :)

• unlock-bde application not found error prevalent in Windows 8

  I have encrypted a drive with BitLocker in Windows 8 Pro, but the drive will not auto-unlock. I can manually unlock the drive from BitLocker in the Control Panel. However from Windows Explorer, I keep seeing the "unlock-bde" command that reports the error "application not found." Anyone know how to permanently fix this issue so it will auto-unlock the encrypted drive upon login to Windows 8 and it does not reoccur?
