• jQuery + Simple Dialog

  Hi, I have a jQuery Model windows which contains a form. On creating of the page, I'm able to see the fields although in my dialog, i have set autoOpen to false. All the forms are in a div. a sample of my dialog looks like this: $("#dialog-form").dialog({ autoOpen: false, height: 460, width: 750, modal: true, buttons: { 'Create Map': function() { document.registerFrm.submit(); }, Cancel: function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } }, close: function() { allFields.val('').removeClass('ui-state-error'); } }); Any way to resolve, I don't want the form fields to be visible on load/creation of the page.

• DateFormat on DisplayFor not working

  I've set the Data Annotation for date, it works when I use the EditorFor but when I use the DisplayFor it is not working. The date is come from a collection of data. I get this format 8/13/2011 12:00:00 AM instead of 8/13/2011. What is wrong with the code. • Can't recover hard drive

  My drive got corrupt after a thunderstorm. It used to be 1 partition of 2.5tb but now it shows 2 partitions. It's weird because 300gig free space is about how much it had before corrupting, but it was part of the first partition. I tried $ sudo resize2fs -f /dev/sdb1 Resizing the filesystem on /dev/sdb1 to 536870911 (4k) blocks. resize2fs: Can't read an block bitmap while trying to resize /dev/sdb1 Please run 'e2fsck -fy /dev/sdb1' to fix the filesystem after the aborted resize operation. sudo e2fsck -f /dev/sdb1 e2fsck 1.42 (29-Nov-2011) The filesystem size (according to the superblock) is 610471680 blocks The physical size of the device is 536870911 blocks Either the superblock or the partition table is likely to be corrupt! Abort? n .... Error reading block 537395215 (Invalid argument) while reading inode and block bitmaps. Ignore error<y>? yes Force rewrite<y>? yes Error writing block 537395215 (Invalid argument) while reading inode and block bitmaps. Ignore error<y>? yes ... A lot of these. I can't use e2fsck -y because the first question aborts if I say "y". If I put a weight on the 'y' key it fails because none of the errors were really fixed. I asked this question before and tried using gparted but gparted fails because the first thing it does is: e2fsck -f -y -v /dev/sdb1 giving the same error. The disk status says healthy. There are no bad blocks. This is very frustrating because I can see the data in testdisk and it looks like it's all there. I already bought another 2.5tb drive and made a clone using dd. • rails - form to disply non-input type fields in nested form

  Hi, I guess this is a newbie question, but what is the syntax in a form to show contents of fields not as a text box/area, but rather like label would appear. <% form_for @user do |f| %> <% f.fields_for :user_ingreds do |builder| %> <p> <%= builder.??? %> </p> <% end %> <% end%> user has many user_ingreds and accepts_nested_attributes for user_ingreds. Basically I want to make a list of user_ingreds where the user can't edit the data but can remove the record from the list via a button - however the fields_for builder doesn't recognize a direct call to to the fields in user_ingreds model (ie, builder.user_id throws and error.

• How can one use multi threading in php applications

  Is there a realistic way of implementing a multi-threaded model in php whether truly or just simulating it. Some time back it was suggested that you can force the operating system to load another instance of the php executable and handle other simultaneous processes. The problem with this is that when the php code finished executing the php instance remains in memory because there is no way to kill it from within php. so if you are simulating several threads you can imagine whats going to happen. So am still looking for a way multi-threading can be done or simulated effectively from within php. Any ideas?

  Hi Say I have a model Taggable has_many tags, how may I find all taggables by their associated tag's taggable_id field? Taggable.find(:all, :joins => :tags, :conditions => {:tags => {:taggable_id => [1,2,3]}}) results in this: SELECT `taggables`.* FROM `taggables` INNER JOIN `tags` ON tags.taggable_id = taggables.id WHERE (`tag`.`taggable_id` IN (1,2,3)) The syntax is incredible but does not fit my needs in that the resulting sql returns any taggable that has any, some or all of the tags. How can I find taggables with related tags of field taggable_id valued 1, 2 and 3? Thanks for any advice. :)

• Error handling with Python + Pylons

  What is the proper way to handle errors with Python + Pylons? Say a user sets a password via a form that, when passed to a model class via the controller, throws an error because it's too short. How should that error be handled so that an error message gets displayed on the web page rather than the entire script terminating to an error page? Should there be any error handling in the controller itself? I hope I am explaining myself clearly. Thank you.

• How do I setup a shared session between two users on my Ruby on Rails powered site?

  Hey guys, The website that I'm building includes a section where two users can interact. I think I know how to do most of it, except the actual session sharing part. I'm using Ruby on Rails & Javascript (jquery), and I've got user login and session management all working okay. Would the best way to create a shared session be to have a SharedSession model, with accompanying database table, with participant1ID, participant2ID etc? Is there a better way? • Checking for duplicates with nested forms

  I'm making a rails 3.2.9 app that allows users to create pages and they can embed youtube videos through a nested form. I'm trying to figure out how to make it so that I can prevent duplicate video records from being stored in my db. So I have a Video model that takes the youtube url and just parses out the video id and stores that instead of the full user submitted youtube url, which may have extraneous url query parameters. So here's the situation that I'm trying to figure out: There's page1 with video1 - url: 123 and video2 - url: abc Then another user creates page2 and submits video3 - url: def and video4 - url: 123 Currently each page has_many videos. But I think I should change it to a many-to-many relationship. But how would I make it so that the url submitted as video4 in the nested form points to video1? Also I how would I make a nested form that creates objects that are connected through a join table?

  Hi! This question follows this: handling to onchange event of AutoCompleteTextField in wicket I'm trying to use the AutoCompleteTextField with a custom class as the generic type, and to add an AjaxFormComponentUpdatingBehavior. What I mean is I want to have a AutoCompleteTextField<SomeClass> myAutoComplete = ...; and after that add a AjaxFormComponentUpdatingBehavior: myAutoComplete.add(new AjaxFormComponentUpdatingBehavior("onchange") { @Override protected void onUpdate(AjaxRequestTarget target) { System.out.println( "Value: "+getValue() ); } }); The problem is that for some reason, adding that behavior makes the form try to set the model object with a String (even though the AutoCompleteTextField has a generic type of SomeClass), causing a ClassCastException when the onchange event fires. Is there a way to use AutoCompleteTextField without it being AutoCompleteTextField<String>? I couldn't find any example.   I'm trying to figure out why insertNewObjectForEntityForName is not working. I assume it's something to do with my data model but can't be sure. Xcode does not report any errors nor does it crash. All I get is the first log statement output to the console. • How Many HABTM relationships in cakephp is too many?

  Hi all, I'm struggling with deciding how many HABTM relationships I really need in my cakephp app. I guess I don't quite get what "has" truly means. I don't want to have more HABTM tables than necessary. Here's what I have in my database: Users Properties Leases Payments Repairs user HABTM properties, user HABTM leases, user HABTM users, user HABTM repairs, property hasMany repairs, property hasMany leases, lease hasMany repairs. Also, I have two aliases for my users model (manager and tenant). This is one of the reasons I ended up with so many HABTM relationships, but I'm not sure it's necessary. Do I have too many user HABTM relationships? Would it be better to just have cake recurse through my models? Thanks!

  I have a very annoying issue and I would love a solution. The problem: I followed the MDSN tutorial- http://www.asp.net/mvc/tutorials/mvc-4/getting-started-with-aspnet-mvc4/adding-a-model Then I tried this guide according to my needs and I set up a database GAMES.MDF.   Then, I deleted the database and set it up again, is supposedly work (I can write and read data), but There is no such database in the APP_DATA folder. Like it keeps it somewhere in my PC and reuse it.   I even tried a new project and it did not work, works but not in the library, and it even uses the data I created before. I even deleted the DB from SQL Server Management Studio 2008. Does anyone know what the hell? How do I delete it permanently, not to remain any trace of him?   Thank you.  Ido

The app is based on screen-flows , i.e each screen is defined with some visual elements with some buttons which have async events associated with them(consuming web services basically). The buttons also have functionality to go back and forth between screens and jump to any screen. I want to define all of the visual elements and the functionality of the events in a XML file. Thus the model, view and controller are all in the XML. Does any framework allow this like Pure MVC? Where can I find some examples of this kind of functionality that I want?

  Hello, I have a custom type I'd like to use with QVariant but I don't know how to get the QVariant to display in a table or have it sort in a QSortFilterProxyModel. I register the type with Q_DECLARE_METATYPE and wrote streaming operators registered via qRegisterMetaTypeStreamOperators but for whatever reason when I use the type with a table model, it doesn't display anything and it doesn't sort. I should specify that this custom type can not be modified. It has a copy and default constructor, but I can not go in and modify the source code to get it to work with QVariant. Is there a way of non-intrusively getting the behaviour I'd like?

• Active Scaffold + Ruby 2.3.5 not working

  Hello, I have an application with Rails 2.3.5. And Im trying to use AS latest version, I have used it previously but cant make it work here. I have my ingredient_categories Controller, where i put class Administration::IngredientCategoriesController < ApplicationController layout "default" active_scaffold :ingredient_categories end I have this set up on routes to be :active_scaffold=true I have a model also called ingredient_category, and in the views folder (inside administration/ingredient_categories, and /ingredient_categories) i have nothing as it is usual. And Im getting over and over again: Template is missing Missing template ingredient_categories/list.html in view path themes/aqueouslight:app/views I had an error before asking me for a list.erb, which I created and put <%= render :active_scaffold = 'ingredient_categories', :label = 'Categorias' % And now this error of the list.thml... Cant make it work! dont know whhy really... whould be SO simple and its burning my head now.. Thanks!

• MVC Pages that require the user to be logged in

  I'm working on a little MVC framework and I'm wondering what the "best way" is to structure things so secure pages/controllers always ensure the user is logged in (and thus automatically redirects to a login page--or elsewhere--if not). Obviously, there are a lot of ways to do it, but I'm wondering what solution(s) are the most common or are considered the best practice. Some ideas I had: Explicitly call user->isLoggedIn() at the beginning of your controller action method? (Seems far too easy to forget and leave an important page unsecure on accident) Make your controller extend a secureController that always checks for login in the constructor? Do this check in the model when secure information is requested? (Seems like redundant calls would be made) Something else entirely? Note: I'm working in PHP, though the question is not language-dependent.

• Tool to maintain a Data Mapping between two systems

  We have XML interfaces between multiple systems. An Enterprise Domain Model is missing in the overall architecture, hence the terms Product/Customer/User means different things to different systems. We currently use excel sheets to map the elements in incoming XML to what the actual Field means within our system. Additionally, it contains the values of Mandatory/Optional and length of each field. We call this the Data Dictionary. Any changes to the XML go through rounds of deliberation and updates to Word and Excel documents. Is there a better way to do this? Any tool/GUI based approach which all systems and owners can view?
