• Trouble with an depreciated constructor visual basic visual studio 2010

  My goal is to print labels with barcodes and a date stamp from an entry to a zebra TLP 2844 when the user clicks the ok button/hits enter. i found what i think might be the code for this from zebras site and have been integrating it into my program but part of it is depreciated and i cant quite figure out how to update it. below is what i have so far. • Problem with setVisible (true)

  The two examples shown below are same. Both are supposed to produce same result e.g. generate the coordinates of images displayed on JPanel. Example 1, works perfectly (print the coordinates of images), however example 2 returning 0 for the coordinate. I was wondering why because, I have put the setvisible (true) after adding the panel, in both examples. • Visual Studio identical token highlighting

  I coded a Mancala game in Java for a college class this past spring, and I used the Eclipse IDE to write it. One of the great (and fairly simple) visual aids in Eclipse is if you select a particular token, say a declared variable, then the IDE will automatically highlight all other references to that token on your screen. Notepad++, my preferred Notepad replacement, also does this. Another neat and similar feature in Eclipse was the vertical "error bar" to the right of your code (not sure what to call it). It display little red boxes for all of the syntax errors in your document, yellow boxes for warnings like "variable declared but not used", and if you select a word, boxes appear in the bar for each occurance of the word in the document. A screenshot of these features in action: After a half hour of searching, I've determined that Visual Studio cannot do this on its own, so my question is: does anyone know of any add-ins for 2005 or 2008 that can provide either one of the aforementioned features? Being able to highlight the current line your cursor is on would be nice too. I believe the add-in ReSharper can do this, but I'd prefer to use a free add-in rather than purchase one.

  Hi, I've completed a OOP course assignment where I design and code a Complex Number class. For extra credit, I can do the following: Add two complex numbers. The function will take one complex number object as a parameter and return a complex number object. When adding two complex numbers, the real part of the calling object is added to the real part of the complex number object passed as a parameter, and the imaginary part of the calling object is added to the imaginary part of the complex number object passed as a parameter. Subtract two complex numbers. The function will take one complex number object as a parameter and return a complex number object. When subtracting two complex numbers, the real part of the complex number object passed as a parameter is subtracted from the real part of the calling object, and the imaginary part of the complex number object passed as a parameter is subtracted from the imaginary part of the calling object.   Hello, The other day i just accidently visited the site myheritage.com. I was just wondering, how they must have created one? Can anybody tell me what can be their database design? and if possible, algorithm that we can use to generate such a tree? Generating simple binary tree is very easy using recursion. But if you have a look at the site(if you have time please make account on it and add few nodes to feel) when we add son to a father, it's mother is automatically added(if you don't add explicitly). Mother's family tree is also generated side by side and many such fancy things are happening. In a simple binary tree we have a root node and then many nodes below it. Thus we cannot show wife and husband in the tree and then show a line from wife and husband to child. In spare time, can anybody discuss what can be it's database design and the recursive algorithm that we can follow to generate it? I hope i am not asking too much from you :).

• for cycle not works allright

  Hello. I call addNotify() method in class that I posted here. The problem is, that when I call addNotify() as it is in the code, setKeys(objs) do nothing. Nothing appears in my explorer of running app. But when I call addNotify()without loop(for int....), and add only one item to ArrayList, it shows that one item correctly. Does anybody knows where can be problem? It would be good If we can iterate without using MSXML2.DOMDocument I see the this question which answers part of my question on how to retrieve the CustomXMLPart.   Hi, I'm building simple application on as3. Kind of starship game. What I want to do is to create several different star ships. Each one should have different images (different look), different sets of animation (e.g. when it's flying, burning, damaged), different kind of weapon and also different controllers (e.g. one can be managed by user, another one by computer, and I want to be able to reuse same ships for AI controller as well as for users controls). Each ship is created in the following way: Create entity Add spatial Add renderers Add other components.... ...... n. init the ship So what I am trying to do: 1) Create StarShip superclass, to store HP (as every ship has it), store spatial (same reason) 2) Create inherited class for any other ship... (It will contain renderer - (responsible for display part), weapon, set of animations), etc What do you think about such way of composition? Maybe it's better to place everything in super class, and then just create instances using long, long, long constructors like: StarShip(hp:HP, animations:DICT, weapon:Weapon, ....) Need advice

  At first I was using this as an extension method to update my detached entities... Correct me if I am wrong but that is because "ApplyCurrentValues" only supports scalars. To get around this I was just saving the FK_ID field instead of the entity object relation. Now I am faced with a many to many relationship so its not that simple. I would like to do something like this... Dim Resource = RelatedResource.GetByID(item.Value) Condition.RelatedResources.Add(Resource) But when I call SaveChanges the added Resources aren't saved. I started to play around with self-tracking entities (not sure if they will help solve my prob) but it seems they cannot be serialized to ViewState and this is a requirement for me. I guess one solution would be to add the xRef table as an entity and add the fks myself but I would rather it just work how I expect it too. I am open to any suggestions on how to either save my many to many relationships or serialize self-tracking entities (if self-trackingwould even solve my problem). Thanks!

• How am I able to create A List<T> containing a generic Interface?

  I have a List which must contain IInteract Objects. But IInteract is a generic interface which requires 2 type arguments. My main idea is iterate through a list of Objects and "Interact" one with another if they didn't interact yet. So i have this object List<IObject> WorldObjects = new List<IObject>(); and this one: private List<IInteract> = new List<IInteract>(); Except I can't compile the last line because IInteract requires 2 type arguments. But I don't know what the arguments are until I add them. I could add interactions between Objects of Type A and A... or Objects of Type B and C. I want to create "Interaction" classes which do something with the "acting" object and the "target" object, but I want them to be independent from the objects... so I could add an Interaction between for instance... "SuperUltraClass" and... an "integer". Am I using the wrong approach?

• Duplicate elements when adding XElement to XDocument

  I'm writing a program in C# that will go through a bunch of config.xml files and update certain elements, or add them if they don't exist. I have the portion down that updates an element if it exists with this code: XDocument xdoc = XDocument.Parse(ReadFile(_file)); XElement element = xdoc.Elements("project").Elements("logRotator") .Elements("daysToKeep").Single(); element.Value = _DoRevert; But I'm running into issues when I want to add an element that doesn't exist. Most of the time part of the tree is in place and when I use my code it adds another identical tree, and that causes the program reading the xml to blow up. here is how I am attempting to do it xdoc.Element("project").Add(new XElement("logRotator", new XElement("daysToKeep", _day))); and that results in a structure like this(The numToKeep tag was already there): <project> <logRotator> <daysToKeep>10</daysToKeep> </logRotator> <logRotator> <numToKeep>13</numToKeep> </logRotator> </project> but this is what I want <project> <logRotator> <daysToKeep>10</daysToKeep> <numToKeep>13</numToKeep> </logRotator> </project>

  I'm trying to add an image to a generated html word document that is embedded in a classic ASP page. Your computer may not have enough memory to open the image, or the image may be corrupted. Restart your computer, and then open the file again. If the red x still appears, you may have to delete the image and then insert it again. If i copy the html code and try to open the word document on my local machine, it displays the image correctly. It just doesn't work when retrieving the document from the server. This happens for any images I try to add. Is there another way to add images to html-generated word documents that can be output from an asp page? Thanks.

  Hi, In my Qt Application I am dynamically creating QGraphicsView(s) and adding them inside a QGridLayout. When I add first view inside grid, the view covers all the available space inside grid. Then I add second view and there are now two equally sized views inside grid. Then I add third view and there are now three equally sized views inside grid. And so on. How can I get updated size of first view? • Making a simple searchable directory of people and their skills in a day - Which technologies?

  Hi All, I am working with a small theatre company. Currently they have a list of people on paper with notes about their skills next to each one. I want to create a database / directory for them so that they can add, delete, update and search for people. It is a very simple and common scenario I know but the issue here is that I only have a day to build a working solution. The search has to be very simple At first I was thinking LAMP but I'd rather not have to create it all from scratch and host it myself. That lead me to Google Spreadsheet as a database, this has the advantage that they already use google docs for everything and if my front end goes tits up they can still get to the data. Presuming none of you can think of some existing software which does exactly what I want the next step is to make a front end for the database. You can create forms for Google Spreadsheets but they only let you add new entries, I can make a Google Gadget but that will only let me implement the search as the Google Visualisation API provides read only access. It's at this point I'm stuck, should I just create a Java Servlet front end for the Google Spreadsheet and use the Java API to add, search and update? I know this is a broad question but I'm just asking 'What would you do?' to implement this system with a day's development time? Gav

  Hello, I have a window that has two layers: a static background and a foreground that contains moving objects. My idea is to draw the background just once (because it's not going to change), so I make the changing panel transparent and add it on top of the static background. Here is the code for this: public static void main(String[] args) { JPanel changingPanel = new JPanel() { @Override public void paintComponent(Graphics g) { super.paintComponent(g); g.setColor(Color.RED); g.fillRect(100, 100, 100, 100); } }; changingPanel.setOpaque(false); JPanel staticPanel = new JPanel(); staticPanel.setBackground(Color.BLUE); staticPanel.setLayout(new BorderLayout()); staticPanel.add(changingPanel); JFrame frame = new JFrame(); frame.add(staticPanel); frame.setSize(800, 600); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setVisible(true); } This piece of code gives me the correct image I want, but every time I repaint changingPanel, staticPanel gets repainted as well (which is obviously against the whole idea of painting the static panel just once). Can somebody show me what's wrong? FYI I am using the javax.swing.Timer to recalculate and repaint the changing panel 24 times every second.
