  • Why is Apache + Rails is spitting out two status headers for code 500?

    I have a rails app that is working fine except for one thing. When I request something that doesn't exist (i.e. /not_a_controller_or_file.txt) and rails throws a "No Route matches..." exception, the response is this (blank line intentional): HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Thu, 02 Oct 2008 10:28:02 GMT Content-Type: text/html Content-Length: 122 Vary: Accept-Encoding Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=100 Connection: Keep-Alive Status: 500 Internal Server Error Content-Type: text/html <html><body><h1>500 Internal Server Error</h1></body></html> I have the ExceptionLogger plugin in /vendor, though that doesn't seem to be the problem. I haven't added any error handling beyond the custom 500.html in public (though the response doesn't contain that HTML) and I have no idea where this bit of html is coming from. So Something, somewhere is adding that HTTP/1.1 200 status code too early, or the Status: 500 too late. I suspect it's Apache because I get the appropriate HTTP/1.1 500 header (at the top) when I use Webrick. My production stack is as follows: Apache 2 Mongrel (5 instances) RubyOnRails 2.1.1 (happens in both 1.2 and 2.1.1) I forgot to mention, the error is caused by a "no route matches..." exception

  • When clicking on ajax.actionlink in its oncomplete function I can't update the html of a div whith requested data

    In one partial view I've got some ajax.ActionLinks which when clicked update the div 'importpartupdate' (they just updates the div whith new ajax.actionLinks with other routevalues). The problem is that when this update is competed I have to update another div - depending on which link is clicked . That's why in my OnComplete function of my ajax.ActionLink I make an ajax request to the action'GridViewLanguage' which returns me the partial view which should uodate this other div which claass .floatLanguage. So the first time when I click a link eeverything works correctly and my two divs are correctly updated.   • What's the recommended way to create an HTML elemnt and bind a listener to it using jQuery?

    At the moment I achieve this using something like this: var myElem = "<tr id='tr-1'><td>content</td></tr>"; $("#myTable").append(myElem); $("#tr-1").click(function() { // blah blah }); Traditionally, when I wasn't using jQuery, I used to do something like this: var myElem = document.createElement(...); var myTable = document.getElementById("myTable"); myTable.appendChild(myElem); myElem.onclick = function() { // blah blah } The thing is, in the second approach I already have a reference to myElem and I don't have to scan the DOM ($("#tr-1")) to find it, like the jQuery approach, and hence it should be much faster especially in big pages. Isn't there a better jQuery-ish way to accomplish this task?

It seems to me that template parameter packs are greedy in a sense that they consume all matching arguments, which in this case means that OtherElements consumes all three arguments (int, float and char) and then there is nothing left for LastElement so the compilation fails. Am i correct in the assumption? EDIT: To clarify: I am not asking how to extract the last element from the parameter pack, i know how to do that. What i actually want is to pick the pack apart from the back as opposed to the front, and as such recursing all the way to the back for each element would be ineffective. Apparentely reversing the sequence beforehand is the most sensible choice.

  • What's the status of the HTML 5 <video> tag and webcam integration?

    Even though it seems to be in some kind of jeopardy, the open video standard is a great idea. I saw some demos on motion tracking with it - just proofs-of-concept, but interesting nonetheless. Now, I'd say that concepts like these would really be a gain, if there would be access to the user's webcam... Just imagine browsing through Flickr with your hands in mid-air. I have Googled a little, but I can't find any detailed discussion on the subject. It is mentioned in some places, but that doesn't get me very far. Does anybody know whether support for this is planned? If yes, any prognosis on the 'when'? ;-) Of course, I guess they'd have to dream up a pretty good security model for it...

  • Parallel MySQL queries for HTML table - WHILE(x or y)?

    I'm trying to create a table using PHP. What I need is a table with two columns. So I have an SQL table with 4 fields - primary key id, language, word and definition. The language for each is either Arabic or Russian. I want a table that does the following: | defintion | |____________________| | | | rus1 | arab1 | | rus2 | arab2 | | rus3 | arab3 | | rus4 | | So it divides the list by English word, creates a for each English word, then lists Russian equivalents in the left column and Arabic in the right. However there are often not the same number for both. What I am doing right now is running a WHILE loop in a WHILE loop. The outer loop is running fine but I think I am doing the inner loop wrong. Here is the bulk of the code: $definitions=mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT definition FROM words") WHILE($row=mysql_fetch_array($definitions) { ECHO '<tr><th colspan="2">' . $row['definition'] .   • Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

    Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia.   • jqGrid - Problems opening in jquery tabs (on Firefox and Google Chrome)

    I have developed a very simple MVC app to test out trirand's jqGrid for MVC. The app opens a jqgrid in a jquery tab group and everything is ok with IE. However when I use Firefox jqgrid only opens occasionaly in the first tab (but not under any other tab), and in Chrome my jqgrids dont appear to open under any tab of the group. I'm a bit of an MVC newbie (and have only been testing jqgrid out for a few days), but I know my users will want to use different browsers. Trirand have not come back with any answer so wondered if anyone else had had a similar issue. I have really just implemented jqgrid as per the controllers and model in the sample application on the Trirand site, and then combined it with a straightforward jquery tab group.   • Can't disable jQuery cache

    Update I figured out that it must be caching problem but I can't turn cache off.     Table Product Product Id Product Name Table ProductSupplier ProductSupplierId ProductId SupplierId Table Supplier SupplierId SupplierName I have the above 3 tables in my database, ProductSupplier is the lookup table. Each Product can have many suppliers. I am using Entity Framework. Using Web Forms it was fairly easy to display a Product on a web page and bind a repeater with the suppliers information. Also, with Web Forms it was easy to Add new Product and suppliers, the linkage seemed easy. How do you do this sort of functionality in MVC? In the Create View below, I want to be able to Add the Supplier as well. Is there a better approach that I might be missing here? This is how I did it with Web Forms. Beyond the code below I am totally lost. I can show data in a list and also display the Suppliers for each Product, but how do I Add and Edit. Should I break it into different views?
