  • AJAX with Ruby on Rails?

    - by Zachary
    This is probably a really dumb question with a simple answer but... I am working on a project where I need to use AJAX to send/receive information. I am using Ruby on Rails (which I am pretty new to), but rather than using the helper methods or the built in functionality in the 'defaults' Javascript file, I need to do this manually in my own Javascript. I believe that ultimately I will want to send a request with a JSON object, then have the controller return another JSON object containing the requested information. The problem is that I cannot seem to find the syntax for sending something to a specific controller method, with parameters, directly from Javascript - everything I Google ends up being tutorials for using the Rails AJAX helper methods.

  • Bound DataGridView not updating data source

    - by Max Yaffe
    I'm trying to bind a table of structures to a DataGridView. Loading and viewing the table is working fine but I can't edit a value and get it stored back into the table. Here's what I'm doing. I have a "primitive" data type, Real defined by public struct MyReal:IMyPrimative { public Double m_Real; //... public MyReal(String val) { m_Real = default(Double); Init(val); } //... } It gets used in a structure: public struct MyReal_Record : IMyRecord { public MyReal Freq { get; set;} MyReal_Record(String[] vals) { Init(vals); } } And the structure is used to define a table using a generic Binding List public class MyTable<S> : BindingList<S> where S: struct, IMyRecord { public Type typeofS; public MyTable() { typeofS = typeof(S); // ... } This table is used as a binding source for a grid, dynamically. private void miLoadFile_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { MyModel.Table<Real_Record> RTable = new MyModel.Table<Real_Record>(); //... Table initialized here //set up grid with virtual mode dataGridView1.DataSource = RTable; } All of this works fine and I can create RTable, initialize it and display it in a grid. The grid allows editing and has events set for CellParsing and CellFormatting which look like: private void dataGridView1_CellFormatting(object sender, DataGridViewCellFormattingEventArgs e) { if (e.DesiredType != typeof(String)) return; e.Value = e.Value.ToString(); } private void dataGridView1_CellParsing(object sender, DataGridViewCellParsingEventArgs e) { if (e.DesiredType != typeof(MyReal)) return; e.Value = new MyReal(e.Value.ToString()); e.ParsingApplied = true; this.dataGridView1.UpdateCellValue(e.ColumnIndex, e.RowIndex); } When I edit a value in a cell, I can change the text. On leaving the cell, CellParsing fires and the event handler is called. Everything seems to be correct going into the CellParsing handler. e.DesiredType is MyReal. e.Value is a string with the new value. After the new MyReal is created from the string, e.Value is set correctly. RowIndex and ColumnIndex are correct. ReadOnly is set false. However, when I leave the cell, the system restores the original value to the cell. I thought the UpdateCellValue would replace the value in the dataSource but I seem to be missing something. What did I miss? Thanks, Max

  • CakePHP 1.3.4: EmailComponent error - Undefined property: EmailComponent::$Controller

    - by Kevin S.
    I'm trying to develop an invitation system for my website which runs on CakePHP 1.3.4. I am trying to use the built in EmailComponent to send an email. I'm getting this error (expanded): Notice (8): Undefined property: EmailComponent::$Controller [CORE/cake/libs/controller/components/email.php, line 428] Code | Context */ function _render($content) { $viewClass = $this-Controller-view; $content = array( "", "" ) EmailComponent::_render() - CORE/cake/libs/controller/components/email.php, line 428 EmailComponent::send() - CORE/cake/libs/controller/components/email.php, line 368 UsersController::send_quick_add_email() - APP/controllers/users_controller.php, line 77 UsersController::quick_add() - APP/controllers/users_controller.php, line 104 SinglesResultsController::quick_add() - APP/controllers/singles_results_controller.php, line 63 Dispatcher::_invoke() - CORE/cake/dispatcher.php, line 204 Dispatcher::dispatch() - CORE/cake/dispatcher.php, line 171 [main] - APP/webroot/index.php, line 83 I also get the following, which I can expand if necessary: Notice (8): Trying to get property of non-object [CORE/cake/libs/controller/components/email.php, line 428] Notice (8): Undefined property: EmailComponent::$Controller [CORE/cake/libs/controller/components/email.php, line 433] Notice (8): Trying to get property of non-object [CORE/cake/libs/controller/components/email.php, line 433] Notice (8): Undefined property: View::$webroot [CORE/cake/libs/view/view.php, line 805] Warning (2): Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/cake/cake/libs/debugger.php:673) [CORE/cake/libs/controller/controller.php, line 746] I think that the EmailComponent object holds a reference to the controller it's being called from. I don't know why it's undefined in this case. Here is the code that fails (specifically, it errors on the call to $this-Email-send()): function send_quick_add_email($email) { if($email) { $this->Email->reset(); $this->Email->to = $email; $this->Email->subject = 'Some subject text'; $this->Email->from = '[email protected]'; $this->Email->template = 'email_template'; $this->set('user', $user); $this->set('token', $token); $this->Email->delivery = 'debug'; $this->Email->send(); } } Ok, for more clarification: The main data I am collecting on the site is results of a game played in meatspace. SinglesResultsController has an action, quick_add, which expects email addresses of people not already registered on the site. If the email addresses aren't associated with Users, UsersController::quick_add is called, which creates an inactive user, and sends an invitation email in UsersController::send_quick_add_email() I think the problem is related to the fact that the email isn't being sent in the first controller initialized (SinglesResultsController). Any thoughts on how to make it work? The Email component is declared at the top of both Controllers.

  • Getting JSON data in PHP

    - by domagoj412
    I have a JSON data like this: { "hello": { "first":"firstvalue", "second":"secondvalue" }, "hello2": { "first2":"firstvalue2", "second2":"secondvalue2" } } I know how to retrieve data from object "first" (firstvalue) and second (secondvalue) but I would like to loop trough this object and as a result get values: "hello" and "hello2"... This is my PHP code: <?php $jsonData='{"hello":{"first":"firstvalue","second":"secondvalue"},""hello2":{"first2":"firstvalue2","second2":"secondvalue2"}}'; $jsonData=stripslashes($jsonData); $obj = json_decode($jsonData); echo $obj->{"hello"}->{"first"}; //result: "firstvalue" ?> Can it be done?

  • Concatenating databases with Squeryl

    - by Pengin
    I'm trying to use Squeryl to take the contents of a table from one database, and append it to the equivalent table in another database. The primary key will have to be reassigned in the process, but I'm getting the error NULL not allowed for column "SIMID". Why is this? object Concatenator { def main(args: Array[String]) { Class.forName("org.h2.Driver"); val seshA = Session.create( java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:h2:file:data/resultsA", "sa", "password"), new H2Adapter ) val seshB = Session.create( java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:h2:file:data/resultsB", "sa", "password"), new H2Adapter ) using(seshA){ import Library._ from(sims){s => select(s)}.foreach{item => using(seshB){ sims.insert(item); } } } } case class Simulation( @Column("SIMID") var id: Long, val date: Date ) extends KeyedEntity[Long] object Library extends Schema { val sims = table[Simulation] on(sims)(s => declare( s.id is(unique, indexed, autoIncremented) )) } }

  • Looking for RESTful Suggestions In Porting ASP.NET to MVC.NET

    - by DaveDev
    I've been tasked with porting/refactoring a Web Application Platform that we have from ASP.NET to MVC.NET. Ideally I could use all the existing platform's configurations to determine the properties of the site that is presented. Is it RESTful to keep a SiteConfiguration object which contains all of our various page configuration data in the System.Web.Caching.Cache? There are a lot of settings that need to be loaded when the user acceses our site so it's inefficient for each user to have to load the same settings every time they access. Some data the SiteConfiguration object contains is as follows and it determines what Master Page / site configuration / style / UserControls are available to the client, public string SiteTheme { get; set; } public string Region { private get; set; } public string DateFormat { get; set; } public string NumberFormat { get; set; } public int WrapperType { private get; set; } public string LabelFileName { get; set; } public LabelFile LabelFile { get; set; } // the following two are the heavy ones // PageConfiguration contains lots of configuration data for each panel on the page public IList<PageConfiguration> Pages { get; set; } // This contains all the configurations for the factsheets we produce public List<ConfiguredFactsheet> ConfiguredFactsheets { get; set; } I was thinking of having a URL structure like this: www.MySite1.com/PageTemplate/UserControl/ the domain determines the SiteConfiguration object that is created, where MySite1.com is SiteId = 1, MySite2.com is SiteId = 2. (and in turn, style, configurations for various pages, etc.) PageTemplate is the View that will be rendered and simply defines a layout for where I'm going to inject the UserControls Can somebody please tell me if I'm completely missing the RESTful point here? I'd like to refactor the platform into MVC because it's better to work in but I want to do it right but with a minimum of reinventing-the-wheel because otherwise it won't get approval. Any suggestions otherwise? Thanks

  • Is there a better way to avoid an infinite loop using winforms?

    - by Hamish Grubijan
    I am using .Net 3.5 for now. Right now I am using a using trick to disable and enable events around certain sections of code. The user can change either days, hours, minutes or total minutes, and that should not cause an infinite cascade of events (e.g. minutes changing total, total changing minutes, etc.) While the code does what I want, there might be a better / more straight-forward way. Do you know of any? For brawny points: This control will be used by multiple teams - I do not want to make it embarrassing. I suspect that I do not need to reinvent the wheel when defining hours in a day, days in week, etc. Some other standard .Net library out there must have it. Any other remarks regarding code? This using (EventHacker.DisableEvents(this)) business - that must be a common pattern in .Net ... changing the setting temporarily. What is the name of it? I'd like to be able to refer to it in a comment and also read up more on current implementations. In the general case not only a handle to the thing being changed needs to be remembered, but also the previous state (in this case previous state does not matter - events are turned on and off unconditionally). Then there is also a possibility of multi-threaded hacking. One could also utilize generics to make the code arguably cleaner. Figuring all this out can lead to a multi-page blog post. I'd be happy to hear some of the answers. P.S. Does it seem like I suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder? Some people like to get things finished and move on; I like to keep them open ... there is always a better way. // Corresponding Designer class is omitted. using System; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace XYZ // Real name masked { interface IEventHackable { void EnableEvents(); void DisableEvents(); } public partial class PollingIntervalGroupBox : GroupBox, IEventHackable { private const int DAYS_IN_WEEK = 7; private const int MINUTES_IN_HOUR = 60; private const int HOURS_IN_DAY = 24; private const int MINUTES_IN_DAY = MINUTES_IN_HOUR * HOURS_IN_DAY; private const int MAX_TOTAL_DAYS = 100; private static readonly decimal MIN_TOTAL_NUM_MINUTES = 1; // Anything faster than once per minute can bog down our servers. private static readonly decimal MAX_TOTAL_NUM_MINUTES = (MAX_TOTAL_DAYS * MINUTES_IN_DAY) - 1; // 99 days should be plenty. // The value above was chosen so to not cause an overflow exception. // Watch out for it - numericUpDownControls each have a MaximumValue setting. public PollingIntervalGroupBox() { InitializeComponent(); InitializeComponentCustom(); } private void InitializeComponentCustom() { this.m_upDownDays.Maximum = MAX_TOTAL_DAYS - 1; this.m_upDownHours.Maximum = HOURS_IN_DAY - 1; this.m_upDownMinutes.Maximum = MINUTES_IN_HOUR - 1; this.m_upDownTotalMinutes.Maximum = MAX_TOTAL_NUM_MINUTES; this.m_upDownTotalMinutes.Minimum = MIN_TOTAL_NUM_MINUTES; } private void m_upDownTotalMinutes_ValueChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { setTotalMinutes(this.m_upDownTotalMinutes.Value); } private void m_upDownDays_ValueChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { updateTotalMinutes(); } private void m_upDownHours_ValueChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { updateTotalMinutes(); } private void m_upDownMinutes_ValueChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { updateTotalMinutes(); } private void updateTotalMinutes() { this.setTotalMinutes( MINUTES_IN_DAY * m_upDownDays.Value + MINUTES_IN_HOUR * m_upDownHours.Value + m_upDownMinutes.Value); } public decimal TotalMinutes { get { return m_upDownTotalMinutes.Value; } set { m_upDownTotalMinutes.Value = value; } } public decimal TotalHours { set { setTotalMinutes(value * MINUTES_IN_HOUR); } } public decimal TotalDays { set { setTotalMinutes(value * MINUTES_IN_DAY); } } public decimal TotalWeeks { set { setTotalMinutes(value * DAYS_IN_WEEK * MINUTES_IN_DAY); } } private void setTotalMinutes(decimal nTotalMinutes) { if (nTotalMinutes < MIN_TOTAL_NUM_MINUTES) { setTotalMinutes(MIN_TOTAL_NUM_MINUTES); return; // Must be carefull with recursion. } if (nTotalMinutes > MAX_TOTAL_NUM_MINUTES) { setTotalMinutes(MAX_TOTAL_NUM_MINUTES); return; // Must be carefull with recursion. } using (EventHacker.DisableEvents(this)) { // First set the total minutes this.m_upDownTotalMinutes.Value = nTotalMinutes; // Then set the rest this.m_upDownDays.Value = (int)(nTotalMinutes / MINUTES_IN_DAY); nTotalMinutes = nTotalMinutes % MINUTES_IN_DAY; // variable reuse. this.m_upDownHours.Value = (int)(nTotalMinutes / MINUTES_IN_HOUR); nTotalMinutes = nTotalMinutes % MINUTES_IN_HOUR; this.m_upDownMinutes.Value = nTotalMinutes; } } // Event magic public void EnableEvents() { this.m_upDownTotalMinutes.ValueChanged += this.m_upDownTotalMinutes_ValueChanged; this.m_upDownDays.ValueChanged += this.m_upDownDays_ValueChanged; this.m_upDownHours.ValueChanged += this.m_upDownHours_ValueChanged; this.m_upDownMinutes.ValueChanged += this.m_upDownMinutes_ValueChanged; } public void DisableEvents() { this.m_upDownTotalMinutes.ValueChanged -= this.m_upDownTotalMinutes_ValueChanged; this.m_upDownDays.ValueChanged -= this.m_upDownDays_ValueChanged; this.m_upDownHours.ValueChanged -= this.m_upDownHours_ValueChanged; this.m_upDownMinutes.ValueChanged -= this.m_upDownMinutes_ValueChanged; } // We give as little info as possible to the 'hacker'. private sealed class EventHacker : IDisposable { IEventHackable _hackableHandle; public static IDisposable DisableEvents(IEventHackable hackableHandle) { return new EventHacker(hackableHandle); } public EventHacker(IEventHackable hackableHandle) { this._hackableHandle = hackableHandle; this._hackableHandle.DisableEvents(); } public void Dispose() { this._hackableHandle.EnableEvents(); } } } }

  • Synclock a section of code while waiting for ShowDialog to return

    - by clawson
    I'm having trouble working out how to lock my application out of a section of code while it waits for a response from an external program. I've used Synclock on a section of code with the Me object in the expression. In this Synclock I call an overridden ShowDialog method of a dialog box, which has a timeout parameter, but does return the value from the underlying ShowDialog function call ,once the timer is setup. Works like this. SyncLock Me Dim frmDlgWithTimeout As New frmDlgWithTimeout ' dialog box with overridden ShowDialog ' Dim res As DialogResult = frmDlgWithTimeout.ShowDialog(10 * 1000) ' 10 sec timeout ' End SyncLock Now, external programs may raise events that bring my application to this Synclock but it doesn't prevent it from entering it, even though the ShowDialog function hasn't returned a value (and hence what I thought would keep the section of code locked). There is only one instance of the object that is used for lock in the program. Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • How to effectively draw on desktop in C#?

    - by Lazlo
    I want to draw directly on the desktop in C#. From searching a bit, I ended up using a Graphics object from the Desktop HDC (null). Then, I painted normally using this Graphics object. The problem is that my shapes get lost when any part of the screen is redrawn. I tried a While loop, but it actually ends up drawing as fast as the application can, which is not the update rate of the desktop. Normally, I would need to put my drawing code in a "OnPaint" event, but such thing does not exist for the desktop. How would I do it? Example code: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1536141/how-to-draw-directly-on-the-windows-desktop-c

  • Cached ObjectDataSource not firing Select Event even Cache Dependecy Removed

    - by John Polvora
    I have the following scenario. A Page with a DetailsView binded to an ObjectDatasource with cache-enabled. The SelectMethod is assigned at Page_Load event, depending on my User Level Logic. After assigned the selectMethod and Parameters for the ODS, if Cache not exists, then ODS will be cached the first time. The next time, the cache will be applied to the ODS and the select event don't need to be fired since the dataresult is cached. The problem is, the ODS Cache works fine, but I have a Refresh button to clear the cache and rebind the DetailsView. Am I doing correctly ? Below is my code. <asp:DetailsView ID="DetailsView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="ObjectDataSource_Summary" EnableModelValidation="True" EnableViewState="False" ForeColor="#333333" GridLines="None"> </asp:DetailsView> <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="ObjectDataSource_Summary" runat="server" SelectMethod="" TypeName="BL.BusinessLogic" EnableCaching="true"> <SelectParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="idCompany" Type="String" /> <SelectParameters> </asp:ObjectDataSource> <asp:ImageButton ID="ImageButton_Refresh" runat="server" OnClick="RefreshClick" ImageUrl="~/img/refresh.png" /> And here is the code behind public partial class Index : Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { ObjectDataSource_Summary.SelectMethod = ""; ObjectDataSource_Summary.SelectParameters[0].DefaultValue = ""; switch (this._loginData.UserLevel) //this is a struct I use for control permissions e pages behaviour { case OperNivel.SysAdmin: case OperNivel.SysOperator: { ObjectDataSource_Summary.SelectMethod = "SystemSummary"; ObjectDataSource_Summary.SelectParameters[0].DefaultValue = "0"; break; } case OperNivel.CompanyAdmin: case OperNivel.CompanyOperator: { ObjectDataSource_Summary.SelectMethod = "CompanySummary"; ObjectDataSource_Summary.SelectParameters[0].DefaultValue = this._loginData.UserLevel.ToString(); break; } default: break; } } protected void Page_LoadComplete(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (Cache[ObjectDataSource_Summary.CacheKeyDependency] == null) { this._loginData.LoginDatetime = DateTime.Now; Session["loginData"] = _loginData; Cache[ObjectDataSource_Summary.CacheKeyDependency] = _loginData; DetailsView1.DataBind(); } } protected void RefreshClick(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e) { Cache.Remove(ObjectDataSource_Summary.CacheKeyDependency); } } Can anyone help me? The Select() Event of the ObjectDasource is not firing even I Remove the CacheKey Dependency

  • many-to-many performance concerns with fluent nhibernate.

    - by Ciel
    I have a situation where I have several many-to-many associations. In the upwards of 12 to 15. Reading around I've seen that it's generally believed that many-to-many associations are not 'typical', yet they are the only way I have been able to create the associations appropriate for my case, so I'm not sure how to optimize any further. Here is my basic scenario. class Page { IList<Tag> Tags { get; set; } IList<Modification> Modifications { get; set; } IList<Aspect> Aspects { get; set; } } This is one of my 'core' classes, and coincidentally one of my core tables. Virtually half of the objects in my code can have an IList<Page>, and some of them have IList<T> where T has its own IList<Page>. As you can see, from an object oriented standpoint, this is not really a problem. But from a database standpoint this begins to introduce a lot of junction tables. So far it has worked fine for me, but I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I could improve on this structure. I've spent a long time thinking and in order to achieve the appropriate level of association required, I cannot think of any way to improve it. The only thing I have come up with is to make intermediate classes for each object that has an IList<Page>, but that doesn't really do anything that the HasManyToMany does not already do except introduce another class. It does not extend the functionality and, from what I can tell, it does not improve performance. Any thoughts? I am also concerned about Primary Key limits in this scenario. Most everything needs to be able to have these properties, but the Pages cannot be unique to each object, because they are going to be frequently shared and joined between multiple objects. All relationships are one-sided. (That is, a Page has no knowledge of what owns it). Because of this, I also have no Inverse() mapped HasManyToMany collections. Also, I have read the similar question : Usage of ORMs like NHibernate when there are many associations - performance concerns But it really did not answer my concerns.

  • Socket programming and telnet with VB.net

    - by Mike
    I'm writing a GUI-based app in VB.net that talks to a LambdaMOO server via telnet, sends commands to display the object hierarchy, then parses the output and creates a visual representation of the object hierarchy. So my question is: is there some kind of "telnet client" class for .NET to simplify the sending and receiving of data, or do I have to write my own using the socket API? Does Mono have something like this? Barring an easy solution, does anyone have a good tutorial they can point to for telnet client programming in VB.net?

  • Twisted - how to create multi protocol process and send the data between the protocols

    - by SpankMe
    Hey, Im trying to write a program that would be listening for data (simple text messages) on some port (say tcp 6666) and then pass them to one or more different protocols - irc, xmpp and so on. I've tried many approaches and digged the Internet, but I cant find easy and working solution for such task. The code I am currently fighting with is here: http://pastebin.com/ri7caXih I would like to know how to from object like: ircf = ircFactory('asdfasdf', '#asdf666') get access to self protocol methods, because this: self.protocol.dupa1(msg) returns error about self not being passed to active protocol object. Or maybe there is other, better, easier and more kosher way to create single reactor with multiple protocols and have actions triggeres when a message arrives on any of them, and then pass that message to other protocols for handling/processing/sending? Any help will be highly appreciated!

  • Is it possible to have an out-of-process COM server where a separate O/S process is used for each ob

    - by Tom Williams
    I have a legacy C++ "solution engine" that I have already wrapped as an in-process COM object for use by client applications that only require a single "solution engine". However I now have a client application that requires multiple "solution engines". Unfortunately the underlying legacy code has enough global data, singletons and threading horrors that given available resources it isn't possible to have multiple instances of it in-process simultaneously. What I am hoping is that some kind soul can tell me of some COM magic where with the flip of a couple of registry settings it is possible to have a separate out-of-process COM server (separate operating system process) for each instance of the COM object requested. Am I in luck?

It works perfectly locally, but when i uploaded it to my server, I get the following page: "Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Configuration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: The connection name 'LocalSqlServer' was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty. Source Error: [No relevant source lines] Source File: machine.config Line: 160 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.4200; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.4016 " Does anybody know why I'm seeing this and how I may go about fixinf this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Bael. EDIT: I have just looked at my web.config file after reading the following line in the error message: "The connection name 'LocalSqlServer' was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty." ... And have noticed that the following element is completely empty: <connectionStrings/> // Is this one supposed to be empty? if not what should go here? In the error it implies it shouldn't be empty. Also, I don't know where I should place LocalSqlServer LATEST EDIT After changing DataSource to LocalHost i get the following error: Server Error in '/JTS' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. • ASP.Net: Finding the cause of OutOfMemoryExpcetions

    - by Keith Bloom
    I trying to track down the cause of an OutOfMemory for a website. This site has ~12,000 .aspx pages and the last time it crashed I captured a memory dump using adplus. After some investigation I found a lot of heap fragmentation, there are around 100MB of Free blocks which can't be assigned. Digging deeper one of the Large Object Heaps is fragmented and the causes seems to be String interning as described [here][1] Could this be caused by the number of pages in the site? As they are all compiled they sit in memory and by looking at the dump they are interned and PINNED which I think means they stick around for a while. I would find this odd as there are many sites with more pages, but dynamic compilation could account for the growth in memory. What other methods are there for finding the cause of the memory leak? I have tried to capture a dump using adplus in hang mode but this fails and the IIS worker process get recycled. [1]: • http://stackoverflow.com/questions/686950/large-object-heap-fragmentation

  • Custom Validator and specifying type of message

    - by user102533
    I have a custom validation in the enterprise validation block. The DoValidate method is as shown below. protected override void DoValidate(Double objectToValidate, object currentTarget, string key, ValidationResults validationResults) { if (!IsSalMoreThanMinWage(objectToValidate)) { //Here I need to mark this message as a "Warning" LogValidationResult(validationResults, "Salary is too low for this state", currentTarget, key); } } I'd need to mark this validation failure as a "warning" message. In the front end, when I iterate through the ValidationResults collection and grab a ValidationResult object, I would need to identify and group different types of messages and render them differently. My question is - how do I mark a failure as a warning?

  • How to convert a DOM node list to an array in Javascript?

    - by Guss
    I have a Javascript function that accepts a list of HTML nodes, but it expects a Javascript array (it runs some Array methods on that) and I want to feed it the output of Document.getElementsByTagName that returns a DOM node list. Initially I thought of using something simple like: Array.prototype.slice.call(list,0) And that works fine in all browsers, except of course Internet Explorer which returns the error "JScript object expected", as apparently the DOM node list returned by Document.getElement* methods is not a JScript object enough to be the target of a function call. Caveats: I don't mind writing Internet Explorer specific code, but I'm not allowed to use any Javascript libraries such as JQuery because I'm writing a widget to be embedded into 3rd party web site, and I cannot load external libraries that will create conflict for the clients. My last ditch effort is to iterate over the DOM node list and create an array myself, but is there a nicer way to do that?

  • How can you tell the source of the data when using the Stream.BeginRead Method?

    - by xarzu
    When using the Stream.BeginRead Method, and you are reading from a stream into a memory, how is it determined where you are reading the data from? See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.stream.beginread.aspx In the list of parameters, I do not see one that tells where the data is being read from: Parameters buffer Type: System.Byte[] The buffer to read the data into. offset Type: System.Int32 The byte offset in buffer at which to begin writing data read from the stream. count Type: System.Int32 The maximum number of bytes to read. callback Type: System.AsyncCallback An optional asynchronous callback, to be called when the read is complete. state Type: System.Object A user-provided object that distinguishes this particular asynchronous read request from other requests.
