• Mounting Google Driva via WebDav directly on Google

  I would like to mount on my RPi my Google Drive using davfs2 but I did not find any direct way to do it for Google Drive. There are instructions on how to use dav-pocket to indirectly do that but these are from 2010. Google group discussions about the lack of direct WebDAV access to Google are roughly from the same time and I could not find any other way to do the mount. Has anything changed and would anyone know if Google enabled WebDAV - and if so what is the URL? An alternate synchronization system would be fine as well (rsync for instance) - I did not find any particular infos either Thank you!

  Hi friends, I'm badly affected with 'Google AppEngine-Google' UserAgent.. receiving 5/6 requests per second on http server. This bot is crawling my site just like GoogleBot does. Following is the sample of url in my access logs. 72.14.192.3 - - [19/May/2010:01:27:06 +0000] "GET /some-url/etc-123.htm HTTP/1.1" 200 4707 "-" "AppEngine-Google; (+http://code.google.com/appengine; appid: harpy000)" I have checked the ip address it is registered with Google Inc. Can anyone tell me where i can report Abuse to Google Inc. Or any information about this issue. Thank you!

• Compiling zip component for PHP 5.2.11 in MAMP PRO

  I installed MAMP PRO on my Macbook Pro (10.6) some time ago. Now I would like to use zip functions in php. I found that I must add zip.so to my extension folder and edited php.ini. On my computer I have two different versions of PHP one in MAMP folder and other in user/lib which was pre-installed on my system. Now I wish to compile my zip library for MAMP version. I got zip sources for my version of PHP then in terminal called function /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize so it uses mamp php version ./configure make then I moved compile zip.so to extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613. When MAMP is launched it returns this error [11-Apr-2010 16:33:27] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: zip: Unable to initialize module Module compiled with module API=20090626, debug=0, thread-safety=0 PHP compiled with module API=20060613, debug=0, thread-safety=0 These options need to match in Unknown on line 0 Can somebody explain to me how to do this the right way.

• Disable creation of appointment when typing into Outlook calendar

  Outlook (both 2010 and 2007) has a "feature" that creates an appointment if I type some text while the calendar window has focus. This keeps biting me every now and then when I erroneously have focus on the calendar window and start typing. To me, this feature is twice as annoying: There is no easy way to escape out of it - I end up using mouse to select the newly created bogus event and then to delete it. Sometimes, if the focus is on an already existing event, such spurious typing changes the text without an easy way to undo. Question: is there a way to make Outlook stop creating/modifying events upon typing, forcing me instead to double click an event or Ctrl-N in order to process my input?

• Kaspersky AV is slowing down my connection significantly

  Hi, I'm using Kaspersky AV 2010, and I've noticed recently in Firefox (DownThemAll download manager) that my download speed has been significantly reduced after installing Kaspersky (from 450 kb/s to 30 kb/s!!). I can solve the issue temporarily by pausing protection and then resuming it again. But it's getting frustrating since I have to do this every few hours. Also another issue I have with the AV (which could be related) is that it forces all network traffic to go through it! (Nod32 didnt do that). Any idea what could be causing this? Your help is much appreciated

• Update openssl in debian squeeze

  There is this CVE-2014-0224 bug in openssl so I would like to update my affected # openssl version OpenSSL 0.9.8o 01 Jun 2010 But there is no update for squeeze. I read the it is already fixed in squeeze-LTS. What I am supposed to do? Will there be an fix for squeeze and I just need to wait? Should I install an openssl update manually? How? I tried to install openssl-0.9.8za and openssl-1.0.1h with wget, ./config, make, make install but openssl version is still that same. I also tried config parameters but with this build fails.

  A DotNetNuke i'm supporting has had a paypal "buy now" button and other variations with custom fields for a while now. About 2 weeks ago (somewhere in March 2010) they all stopped working. The problem manifested such that once you clicked the "buy now" button, Paypal site would throw a scary error page to the effect of: "Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log" Once I verified no cheeky content editor changed the page, I went digging for answers. The main source incompatibility of PayPal's simple HTML forms is that DNN includes a form on every page, and nested forms are not really supported. As blogged here and lamented here, the solution I came up with is simply to modify the form enctype to 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded' as illustrated below: 1: <input type="image" border="0" 2: src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynowCC_LG.gif" 3: name="submit" 4: alt="PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!" 5: onClick="this.form.action='https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr'; this.form.enctype='application/x-www-form-urlencoded';this.form.submit();" /> One would think that PayPal would want the masses submitting HTML in all manners of "enctype", but I guess every company has it's quirks. • CentOS/Apache killing connections

  Getting a really strange error. Basically, whenever I browse to my server (http://[ip_address] or http://[hostname]), it doesn't load, and my active SSH connection drops out. I installed CentOS 5.5, and then httpd and PHP 5.3. No other applications where installed, so I can't imagine it's something else causing it. I also reinstalled CentOS 5.5 again, completely fresh, the only thing I did to it was yum install httpd, and it still caused this issue. I've changed nothing in the config or anything else. Driving me mad, has anyone heard of this? It's really frustrating since everytime I attempt to debug this issue, I get kicked off SSH and have to log back in. Theres nothing in the Apache error logs, and nothing in the access log recording my attempt. • How ReSharper saved the day

  The Back Story: As a Microsoft MVP awardee, one of the many benefits is free software, books, and various products.  Some of the producers/manufacturers ask for reviews in exchange, others just ask for a brief mention (nothing is ever really free).  But considering that some of the products are essential to my everyday computing, I never mind mentioning their names and evangelizing their products. One of these tools just happened to save me a countless number of hours.  With the release of Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2010, JetBrains released their new 5.0 version of ReSharper. The Story: My specialty is Visual Basic development.  I am not, and probably will never be a C# developer.  As such, trying to figure out how to debug a C# project, that was written 2 years ago by a contract developer, let’s just say it’s a painful process. I have a special class for config file reading and writing, written in C#.  I kept getting exceptions when the reader would get to a line that had an xml comment in it.  It took me a couple of hours to narrow down where it was happening and why, but I couldn’t figure out the best way to fix it.  It was a for loop that was implicitly casting the type of the variable.  I knew I need to explicitly cast the variable type, but only after the type was verified.  So after I finally got some of the code written, ReSharper gave me some suggestions on how to write the code better. One of the ways was to safely cast the variable into the type I wanted.  Blammo, no more exceptions in a way I hadn’t anticipated.  Instead of having to check the type before I cast it.  Beautiful, simple, and taught me a better way to code C#. Kudos JetBrains … now if it only worked better with VB (then it could be called ReBasic, ReVB, RE???)

I just don't know how to log into it. In fact, I'd just like to reboot it. That'd be fine. Thing is: it's across the ocean (I'm in the US, and the machine is in Europe). I'd run some hundreds of java threads at the same time and apparently that was too much for the host. How can I get back in?

• Cloned partition not seen correctly by disk utility & gparted

  Some days ago I cloned my /dev/sda1 partition with clonezilla in partition-to-partition mode to /dev/sda3. It worked, but now that I've finished the setup of system in /dev/sda3, I wanna reinstall /dev/sda1 for other stuffs. This partition is NOT mounted, but ubuntu's DISK UTILITY thinks it is, while it doesn't see as mounted the currently active / partition /dev/sda3. This is the df- TH output : Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda3 ext4 32G 6.2G 24G 21% / udev devtmpfs 2.2G 13k 2.2G 1% /dev tmpfs tmpfs 845M 906k 844M 1% /run none tmpfs 5.3M 0 5.3M 0% /run/lock none tmpfs 2.2G 115k 2.2G 1% /run/shm /dev/sdb1 fuseblk 321G 147G 174G 46% /Dati Gparted instead, sees /dev/sda1 as NOT mounted (checked with Information option), but it display the BOOT flag on this partition, while the real booted partition /dev/sda3, hasn't it.   For those that don’t know, you can download the W7 Phone developer tools now. It is available here. I have installed it and wanted to share my experience so far. You can read the pre-release documentation here. First, here is what it comes with the install: The Windows Phone Developer Tools CTP includes the following: Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone CTP Windows Phone Emulator CTP Silverlight for Windows Phone CTP XNA 4.0 Game Studio CTP First impressions: No ISO image install (Bad for me because I use multiple machine and have to install from a bootstrapper. Its around 228mb download. I already have the VS2010 RC, but it still makes me install the VS2010 Express Edition. Windows Phone Emulator will only work with VS2010. No support for 05/08. Need at least a DX10 graphics compatible card. Final Word: (you are probably going to need this info) To start a new project, go to Installed Templates and select Silverlight for Windows Phone and Windows Phone Application. Use Silverlight for WPF style applications or XNA for W7 Games.

• Why doesn't libxml2 support XPath 2.0?

  Libxml2 is the faster, stable and most popular "open DOM engine"... And the "XML C parser and toolkit of Gnome". The initial release of Libxml2 was September 1999, 13 years ago. XPath v1.0 was also released at 1999. XPath v2.0 became a recommendation on January 2007, 6 years ago. We can suppose that the Libxml2 community have time and people to develop a XPath2... So, what is the problem? Why doesn't libxml2 (or a "libxml2 fork" or an "experimental lib"!) support XPath 2.0? Some raised hypotheses to discussion at answers, Because Libxml2 community (and Gnome community) dislikes and have no motivation to develop something to XPath2 or xQuery. 1.1. XPath2 needs (by mathematical proof) a very heavy parser, much slower, etc. that is not suitable to real-world Libxml2 applications. 1.2. Other "ideologic" dislikes/motivations. Because it is written with C, and for XPath2 is better to develop with C++. Because the above hypothesis of "Libxml2 community have time and people" is false. Because XPath2 became stable in 2010 with its "Second Edition" release, and ~2.5 years is not (?) enough time.

• Almost time to hit the road again

  I’ve had a few months of not much traveling, but now that the weather is improving… conference season is starting up again. That means it’s time for me to start hitting the road. In June, I have Tech Ed 2010 in New Orleans, LA. I lived in New Orleans for several years, both as military and civilian and I have a few friends still down there. I haven’t been there since before Hurricane Katrina, so I have mixed feelings about returning… but I am still looking forward to it. Also in June, I have Codestock in Knoxville, TN. Codestock is one of my favorite events, primarily because of the excellent people that speak there and also attend sessions. It’s a great mix of people and technologies. Sometime in July or August, I’m headed to Austin, TX for a couple days. I don’t know the exact date yet, but if you have an event down there in that timeframe, let me know and maybe we can sort something out. In September, I’m heading to Seattle for my first PAX (Penny Arcade Expo.)  I’m going strictly as an attendee and it looks like a LOT of fun. Really excited to check it out. Also in September, I’m headed to Omaha for the Heartland Developers Conference. This is a FANTASTIC event, and certainly one of my local favorites. (I guess local is relative, it’s about a 6 hour drive.) In addition to speaking on WP7, I’ll be doing a series of hands on labs on XNA they day before the conference starts, so that should be a lot of fun as well.   In addition to all this stuff, I have my own XNA User Group to take care of. In August, Andy “The Z-Man” Dunn is coming to speak and check out the various food on a stick offerings at the Minnesota State Fair!

• A font like RomanS in appearance but with support for more characters (Autocad)?

  In a Autocad 2010 installation, the standard font used is RomanS. That font is so limited on characters, so when I use "text" command I cannot add "³" on text of cubic meters measures (a "?" is displayed instead of the "³" character - see isolated text on figure below and Font characters Latin Supplement range). When I use a dimension command, like multileader, Autocad "corrects" that issue using another font that support that missing character, resulting on an awful mixture (see text on multileader below - on multileader text properties, we can see 3m{\fArial|b0|i0|c0|p34;³}). I can easily change that font with another, like Verdana, Times New Roman... that have more characters than RomanS font, but I would like to use an alternative font more like RomanS in appearance. Any help?

• Refering to a Cell in a Different Workbook

  I work between different spreadsheets, and I like to have one main workbook that links to certain cells in other workbooks. For example, I will do a statement of business activities workbook that has all the business expenses listed, and then I will have individual workbooks for each expense account. In the old excel, I would just put =(and then go to the workbook that i wanted, and then select the cell i wanted and then hit enter) and it would put the amount from that specific cell in my statement of business activities. When I try to do that in excel 2010, I put the equals sign in the cell, and then go to the other workbook and find the cell I want, and when I hit enter, it just moves down a line and nothing happens in the other workbook. How can I get this to work again, what do i need to do??
