  • jQueryUI Ajax.NET Postback Bug

    Hi, I have this ASP.NET page with ASP.NET UpdatePanel and jQueryUI droppable and sortable components. The page works fine in all browsers, but doesn't in Internet Explorer (IE8 tested). After I try to call ASP.NET AJAX event (by pressing my asp.net button inside the UpdatePanel) my sortable list stops working properly inside IE browser and the browser throws the following error: Message: Unspecified error. Line: 145 Char: 186 Code: 0 URI: http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js I found out that the problem is caused by the code on line 66: $("#droppable").droppable(); If I comment it out, the sortable list works fine after ajax postbacks. But it doesn't make sense. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks. P.S. I am using jQueryUI 1.8.1 and jQuery 1.4.2

  • jqGrid problem, expecting jQuery.jgrid but $.jgrid exists instead

    I'm using jqGrid for a JIRA plugin and have included the jquery and jqgrid libraries as web resources. I've set up a column in jqGrid as required and when I try to submit the form with the respective column empty I get an error in firebug: jQuery.jgrid is undefined jQuery.jgrid is null but $.jgrid has the correct data. Does anyone know how I can set up jqgrid so that it points to the $.jgrid without having to change all the source code? or any other way round this? Thanks

    I'm try to write a spec for a named scope which is date dependent. The spec: it "should return 6 months of documents" do Date.stub!(:today).and_return(Date.new(2005, 03, 03)) doc_1 = Factory.create(:document, :date => '2005-01-01') Document.past_six_months.should == [doc_1] end The named scope in the Document model: named_scope :past_six_months, :conditions => ['date > ? AND date < ?', Date.today - 6.months, Date.today] The spec fails with an empty array, and the query in test.log shows why: SELECT * FROM "documents" WHERE (date > '2009-11-11' AND date < '2010-05-11') i.e. it appears to be ignoring my stubbed Date method. However, if I use a class method instead of a named scope then it passes: def self.past_six_months find(:all, :conditions => ['date > ? AND date < ?', Date.today - 6.months, Date.today]) end I would rather use the named scope approach but I don't understand why it isn't working.

  • ASP.Net MVC2 Client and Server Validation sharing the same code - is it possible?

    With the excellent XVal by Steve Sanderson, it is possible to tell the client side validation to post the value being validated to the server using jquery. A method on the server then uses the same server side code you use for your server side validation, and returns simply a true or false to determine if the field is valid. The advantage of this method is that you write your complex validation logic once in C# code and then put some JQuery plumbing in to tell your client page where to go to access your server validation. I have been reading some blogs on MVC2 but no one seems to mention this functionality. Is it possible to tell the Microsoft MVC validation javascript to call a url validate data? Or do you have to write your own client side validation routines. I should note that using the xVal method a custom validation to say if an email address is in use or not can be run from the client via a JQuery post which accesses the server side validation logic.

  • ASP .NET MVC; return HTML along with JavaScript

    I have a partial view which renders a table. On page load, I am using JQuery to perform Zebra Stripping on it. Whenever ajax refreshes the table, DOM elements are updated, but since JQuery code to do the Zebra Stripping is not executed; table looks ugly. I have tried adding Javascript in my partial view if( Request.IsAjaxRequest() ) return PartialView( "AdministrationGrid", Users ); but javascript is not executed. I guess the only way to execute the Javascript as reply is to do: return JavaScript( "alert( '' )" ); Anyone with an idea how can I achieve this? I thought about JQuery Live, but it is used to bind itself to events.

    Maybe I'm seeing things.. In an attempt to turn a date with a format of "mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss PM" into military time, the following replacement of a row value does not seem to take. Even though I am sure I have done this before (with column values other than dates). Is there some reason that row["adate"] would not accept a value assigned to it in this case?     Hello World!! :D I had a question which is pretty easy if you know the answer I guess. I read about sorting ArrayLists using a Comparator but somehow in all of the examples people used compareTo which according to some research is a method working on Strings... I wanted to sort an ArrayList of custom objects by one of their properties: a Date object (getStartDay()). Normally I compare them by item1.getStartDate().before(item2.getStartDate()) so I was wondering whether I could write something like: public class customComparator { public boolean compare(Object object1, Object object2) { return object1.getStartDate().before(object2.getStartDate()); } } public class randomName { ... In this application, I have two databases selected by a radio button. Since jQuery loads and assigns this function when the document is loaded, the database name is whatever was checked at that momemnt. What I really need to pass to the php call is the following: database=$("input[name=rf_database_option]:checked").val(); Is ther ean easy to understand way to be able to pass a dynamic dom value?

    I'm using DateJS to parse user-inputted dates, and getting some strange results. Date.parse("15 Jan 2010") returns Fri Jan 15 00:00:00 EST 2010 (right) Date.parse("15-Apr-2010") returns Thu Apr 15 00:00:00 EDT 2010 (right) Date.parse("15 Apr 2010") returns Thu Apr 1 00:00:00 EDT 2010 (wrong) As far as I can tell, the d MMM yyyy input format works fine for every month except April and August; in those two cases, it returns the first of the month no matter what day is entered. Is this a bug, or is there a logical explanation I'm missing?
