  • JQuery UI tabs: How do I navigate directly to a tab from another page?

    - by Chris Simpson
JQuery UI tabs are implemented by named anchors in an unordered list. When you hover over one of the tabs you can see this in the link shown at the foot of the browser: http://mysite/product/3/#orders Above would be the "orders" tab for example. JQuery obviously intercepts the click to this anchor and opens the tab instead. However if I bookmark the link above or link to it from elsewhere in the site the page does not open on the specific tab. In the tab initialisation block I was considering putting in some code that looks for a named anchor in the URL and, if it finds one, does an index lookup of the tabs and calls the select on it. This would mean it will still work with JS switched off. But is there an easier/nicer/better way?

  • Highlight a word with jQuery

    - by nickf
I basically need to highlight a particular word in a block of text. For example, pretend I wanted to highlight the word "dolor" in this text: <p> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. </p> <p> Quisque bibendum sem ut lacus. Integer dolor ullamcorper libero. Aliquam rhoncus eros at augue. Suspendisse vitae mauris. </p> How do I convert the above to something like this: <p> Lorem ipsum <span class="myClass">dolor</span> sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. </p> <p> Quisque bibendum sem ut lacus. Integer <span class="myClass">dolor</span> ullamcorper libero. Aliquam rhoncus eros at augue. Suspendisse vitae mauris. </p> Is this possible with jQuery? Edit: As Sebastian pointed out, this is quite possible without jQuery - but I was hoping there might be a special method of jQuery which would let you do selectors on the text itself. I'm already using jQuery heavily on this site, so keeping everything wrapped up in jQuery would make things perhaps a bit more tidy.

  • asp.net mvc encode on form post

    - by Gidon
Hello, I'm using a rich text editor in my asp.net mvc form (nicedit with a textarea) and when I submit the form on post, because it is not html encoded I get the following message: "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client" . How can I html encode the textarea on post ? I don't want to cancel the validation. Is there a way to use the html.encode helper on submit? Thank you.

    - by armandfp
    i have a html code like this: <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> <div class="checkclass"></div> </div> <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> </div> <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> <div class="checkclass"></div> </div> <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> <div class="checkclass"></div> </div> <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> </div> and i need to add a div only on those divs that dont have that "checkclass", so it will like this: <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> <div class="checkclass"></div> </div> <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> <div class="newclass"></div> </div> <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> <div class="checkclass"></div> </div> <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> <div class="checkclass"></div> </div> <div class="someclass"> <div class="childclass"></div> <div class="newclass"></div> </div> i tried with jquery something like: $('.someclase:not(children(hasClass(checkclass))').append('<div class="newclass"></div>'); $('.someclass:not(:children(.checkclass))').append('<div class="newclass"></div>'); $('.someclass > :not(.checkclass)').append('<div class="newclass"></div>'); but still nothing, any ideas?

  • Hybrid static/dynamic Google Map

    - by jonathanconway
Ever noticed that when you go to maps.google.com and do a search (say, car wash), it renders a lot of results (represented by small circles) and a few prominent ones (seen as regular-size pins)? Notice how quickly it does this? From what I can tell from analyzing this in Firebug, much of this is generated on the server and sent to the client as a static image. However, it's still dynamic. You can still zoom in and out, or click on a result and see a dynamic InfoWindow rendered. Google have made the map quick and smooth using static images, while still making it flexible. Is there a way to do this kind of 'pre-loading' with my own Google Map (implemented with the Google Maps API)?

  • How to call function that inside JQuery Plugin From outside the plugin?

    - by CaTz
hi, i am using textarea elastic plugin JQuery. this is the plugin (function(jQuery){ jQuery.fn.extend({ elastic: function() { // We will create a div clone of the textarea // by copying these attributes from the textarea to the div. var mimics = [ 'paddingTop', 'paddingRight', 'paddingBottom', 'paddingLeft', 'fontSize', 'lineHeight', 'fontFamily', 'width', 'fontWeight']; return this.each( function() { // Elastic only works on textareas if ( this.type != 'textarea' ) { return false; } var $textarea = jQuery(this), $twin = jQuery('<div />').css({'position': 'absolute','display':'none','word-wrap':'break-word'}), lineHeight = parseInt($textarea.css('line-height'),10) || parseInt($textarea.css('font-size'),'10'), minheight = parseInt($textarea.css('height'),10) || lineHeight*3, maxheight = parseInt($textarea.css('max-height'),10) || Number.MAX_VALUE, goalheight = 0, i = 0; // Opera returns max-height of -1 if not set if (maxheight < 0) { maxheight = Number.MAX_VALUE; } // Append the twin to the DOM // We are going to meassure the height of this, not the textarea. $twin.appendTo($textarea.parent()); // Copy the essential styles (mimics) from the textarea to the twin var i = mimics.length; while(i--){ $twin.css(mimics[i].toString(),$textarea.css(mimics[i].toString())); } // Sets a given height and overflow state on the textarea function setHeightAndOverflow(height, overflow){ curratedHeight = Math.floor(parseInt(height,10)); if($textarea.height() != curratedHeight){ $textarea.css({'height': curratedHeight + 'px','overflow':overflow}); } } // This function will update the height of the textarea if necessary function update() { // Get curated content from the textarea. var textareaContent = $textarea.val().replace(/&/g,'&amp;').replace(/ /g, '&nbsp;').replace(/<|>/g, '&gt;').replace(/\n/g, '<br />'); var twinContent = $twin.html(); if(textareaContent+'&nbsp;' != twinContent){ // Add an extra white space so new rows are added when you are at the end of a row. $twin.html(textareaContent+'&nbsp;'); // Change textarea height if twin plus the height of one line differs more than 3 pixel from textarea height if(Math.abs($twin.height()+lineHeight/3 - $textarea.height()) > 3){ var goalheight = $twin.height()+lineHeight/3; if(goalheight >= maxheight) { setHeightAndOverflow(maxheight,'auto'); } else if(goalheight <= minheight) { setHeightAndOverflow(minheight,'hidden'); } else { setHeightAndOverflow(goalheight,'hidden'); } } } } // Hide scrollbars $textarea.css({'overflow':'hidden'}); // Update textarea size on keyup $textarea.keyup(function(){ update(); }); $textarea.focus(function(){ update(); }); // And this line is to catch the browser paste event $textarea.live('input paste',function(e){ setTimeout( update, 250); }); // Run update once when elastic is initialized update(); }); } }); })(jQuery); How can i call from the outside of the plugin to the update function that is inside?

  • Pass table as parameter to SQLCLR TV-UDF

    - by Skeolan
We have a third-party DLL that can operate on a DataTable of source information and generate some useful values, and we're trying to hook it up through SQLCLR to be callable as a table-valued UDF in SQL Server 2008. Taking the concept here one step further, I would like to program a CLR Table-Valued Function that operates on a table of source data from the DB. I'm pretty sure I understand what needs to happen on the T-SQL side of things; but, what should the method signature look like in the .NET (C#) code? What would be the parameter datatype for "table data from SQL Server?" e.g. /* Setup */ CREATE TYPE InTableType AS TABLE (LocationName VARCHAR(50), Lat FLOAT, Lon FLOAT) GO CREATE TYPE OutTableType AS TABLE (LocationName VARCHAR(50), NeighborName VARCHAR(50), Distance FLOAT) GO CREATE ASSEMBLY myCLRAssembly FROM 'D:\assemblies\myCLR_UDFs.dll' WITH PERMISSION_SET = EXTERNAL_ACCESS GO CREATE FUNCTION GetDistances(@locations InTableType) RETURNS OutTableType AS EXTERNAL NAME myCLRAssembly.GeoDistance.SQLCLRInitMethod GO /* Execution */ DECLARE @myTable InTableType INSERT INTO @myTable(LocationName, Lat, Lon) VALUES('aaa', -50.0, -20.0) INSERT INTO @myTable(LocationName, Lat, Lon) VALUES('bbb', -20.0, -50.0) SELECT * FROM @myTable DECLARE @myResult OutTableType INSERT INTO @myResult MyCLRTVFunction @myTable --returns a table result calculated using the input The lat/lon - distance thing is a silly example that should of course be better handled entirely in SQL; but I hope it illustrates the general intent of table-in - table-out through a table-valued UDF tied to a SQLCLR assembly. I am not certain this is possible; what would the SQLCLRInitMethod method signature look like in the C#? public class GeoDistance { [SqlFunction(FillRowMethodName = "FillRow")] public static IEnumerable SQLCLRInitMethod(<appropriateType> myInputData) { //... } public static void FillRow(...) { //... } } If it's not possible, I know I can use a "context connection=true" SQL connection within the C# code to have the CLR component query for the necessary data given the relevant keys; but that's sensitive to changes in the DB schema. So I hope to just have SQL bundle up all the source data and pass it to the function. Bonus question - assuming this works at all, would it also work with more than one input table?

  • finding "line-breaks" in textarea that is word-wrapping ARABIC text

    - by Irfan jamal
I have a string of text that I display in a textarea (right-to-left orientation). The user can resize the textarea dynamically (I use jquery for this) and the text will wrap as necessary. When the user hits submit, I will take that text and create an image using PHP, BUT before submitting I would like to know where the "line-breaks" or rather "word-wraps" occur. Everywhere I have looked so far only shows me how to process line-breaks on the php side. I want to make it clear that there ARE NO LINE-BREAKS. What I have is one LONG string that will be word-wrapped in different ways based on the width of the textarea set by the user. I can't use "columns" or any other standard width representation because I have a very complex arabic font that is actually composed of glyphs (characters) of numerous different widths. If anyone knows of a way of accessing where the word wraps occur (either in a textarea or a div if need-be), I'd really like to know. My only other solution is to actually store (in my DB) the width of every single character (somewhat tedious since there are over 200 characters in 600 different fonts, for a total of...some huge number). My hopes aren't high, but I thought I would ask. Thanks i. jamal

  • how callback a function on 404 on JSON ajax request with Jquery?

    - by shingara
I want made an Ajax request with response on JSON. So I made this Ajax request : $.ajax({ url: 'http://my_url', dataType: "json", success: function(data){ alert('success'); }, error: function(data){ alert('error'); }, complete: function(data) { alert('complete') }}) This code works good but when my url send me a HTTP code 404, no callbacks are used, even the complete callback. After research, it's because my dataType is 'json' so 404 return is HTML and the JSON parsing failed. So no callback. Have you a solution to call a callback function when a 404 is raised ? EDIT: complete callback don't call is return is 404. If you want an URL wit 404 you can call : http://twitter.com/status/user_timeline/jksqdlmjmsd.json?count=3&callback=jsonp1269278524295&_=1269278536697 it's with this URL I have my problem.

  • Is there a JS diff library against htmlstring just like google-diff-match-patch on plain text?

    - by Steve
Currently I am using google-diff-match-patch to implement a real-time editing tool, which can synchronize texts between multiple users. Everything works great when operations are only plain texts, each user's operation(add/delete texts) could be diff-ed out by comparing to old text snapshot with the helper of google-diff. But when rich format texts(like bold/italic) are involved, google-diff not working well when comparing the htmlstring. The occurrence of character of < and > messed up the diff results, especially when bold/italic format are embedded within each other. Could anyone suggest a similar library like google-diff to diff htmlstrings? Or any suggestions can get my problem fixed with google-diff? I understood google-diff is designed for plain text, but really didn't find a better library than it so far, so it also works if a doable enhancement to google-diff can help. Thanks for any comments. Regards, Steve

  • (interactive) graph as in graph theory on a web page ?

    - by LB
Hi, I have to integrate a graph with nodes and edges on a web page. Ideally, i would like to be able to interact with it (like moving the nodes around). Actually, i'm beginning by representing trees, so i would appreciate to be able to collapse subtrees. How can I do that ? I was considering google-visualization api but i wasn't able to find the kind of visualization i'm looking for (org chart doesn't allow to have multiple fathers, if i understood well) I've got no idea of the kind of technology so my tagging may not be really accurate :-). thanks

  • How to get target element of keypress in designmode iframe

    - by Tom
Is it possible to get the target element in a keypress event handler in a design mode iframe ? I know it can be done in the mousedown event handler (by accessing event.target), but in the keypress / keydown handlers event.target is always the iframe element. For example, with the following html, if the user types into the div where it says * key press here *, I would like in the keypress / keydown event handler to be able to determine that the target element is the div with id='b'. Is this possible ? <div id='a'> <div id='b'> *** Key press here *** </div> </div>

  • Binding elements when modal window loads from AJAX (jQuery)

    - by thinkswan
I'd like to set up a drag'n'drop list inside a modal window. The window's content is loaded via an AJAX call, so I believe I need to use jQuery's .live() method. Here is my current code: $('#cboxLoadedContent').live('load', function() { // Event for sortable page lists $('ul#pageList').sortable(); }); How can I set up bindings when the modal window loads? The modal window comes from the colorbox plugin. Note: I'm guessing that 'load' is not the right event to use, because if I throw a simple alert() in there, it doesn't even show up when the window loads.

  • Is there a built-in jQuery function for encoding a string as HTML?

    - by Ben McCormack
Is there a built-in jQuery function for encoding a string as HTML? I'm trying to take the text a user types into a text box and then put that text into a different area of the page. My plan was to take the .val() from the text box and supply that to the .html() of the <div> element. Perhaps there's a good jQuery plugin to help with this (if it's not built-in) or a better way overall to accomplish this goal.

  • Gmail like URL scheme

    - by Varun
I am working on a ticket system, having the following requirement: The home page is divided into two sections: Sec-1. Some filter options are shown here.(like closed-tickets, open-tickets, all-tickets, tickets-assigned-to-me etc.). You can select one or more of these filters. sec-2. List of tickets satisfying above filters will be displayed here. Now this is what I want: As I change the filters -- the change should be reflected in the URL, so that one is able to bookmark it. -- an ajax request will go and list of tickets satisfying the selected filters will be updated in sec-2. I want the same code to be used to load the tickets in both ways- (a) by selecting that set of filters and (b) by using the bookmark to reload the page. I have little idea on how to do it: The URL will contain the selected filters.(appended after #) changing filters on the page will modify the hash part of URL and call a function (say ajaxHandler()) to parse the URL to get the filters and then make an ajax request to get the list of tickets to be displayed in section2. and I will call the same function ajaxHandler() in window.onload. I feel this is what Yahoo maps does. What's the best way to implement such URL scheme? Am I headed in the right direction?

  • Stretch Background Image Resizes With Browser Windows

    - by user241673
I am trying to replicate the image resizing found at http://devkick.com/lab/fsgallery/ but with the code I have below, it is not working properly. When resizing the browser window to have small width and big height, white space shows up at the bottom of the page. feel free to see it & edit at http://jsbin.com/ifolu3 The CSS: html, body {width:100%; height:100%; overflow:hidden;} div.bg {position:absolute; width:200%; height:200%; top:-50%; left:-50%;} img.bg {min-height:50%; min-width:50%; margin:0 auto; display:block;} The JS/jQuery: $(window).resize(function(){ var ratio = Math.max($(window).width()/$('img.bg').width(),$(window).height()/$('img.bg').height()); if ($(window).width() $(window).height()) { $('img.bg').css({width:image.width()*ratio,height:'auto'}); } else { $('img.bg').css({width:'auto',height:image.height()*ratio}); } }); The HTML - (sorry for the formatting, had trouble getting "<" to show) [body] [div class="bg"] [img class="bg" src="bg.jpg" /] [/div] [/body]

  • How to show a progress report to the user in Google Apps Script?

    - by Jose M Vidal
I have a simple script that will send out a bunch of emails but these take time to send and I want to show the user a scrolling window with the emails addresses as they are sent (or, a progress bar would be good too). I believe this is possible with the new User Interface Classes, but I can't get it to work. The documentation is kinda sparse. Specifically, the problem is that the GUI window that pops up appears blank until all the emails have been sent (the script ends) and then the text appears. This happens even if I call show(myapp) after every time I update the Label.

  • Cufon JS is not loading

    - by UXdesigner
I've developed a website in html/css and it works perfectly fine. Now I'm working with the coder, integrating this to a .NET framework, changing the website to .apsx instead of html, but during the build of the website, the only error that is marked is the load of Cufon , it simply can't load and the structure and syntax of all the commands are the same I used with the html site that actually works. There are no path problems so far. What do you guys think would be this problem ? Thank you for your kind help.

  • Uncaught Error: INDEX_SIZE_ERR

    - by Gart
I am drawing on a canvas with the following line: ctx.drawImage(compositeImage, 0, 0, image.width, image.height, i, j, scaledCompositeImageWidth, scaledCompositeImageHeight); This code has executed error free on Safari, Chrome, Firefox (and even IE using google's excanvas library). However, a recent update to Chrome now throws the following error: Uncaught Error: INDEX_SIZE_ERR: DOM Exception 1 This code often positions part or all of the drawn image OFF the canvas, anyone got any idea what's going on here?

  • How to resize a Flot graph when its containing div changes size

    - by Will Gorman
I'm using the Flot graphing library jQuery plugin and I haven't found a good way to handle resizing the graph when it's containing <div> changes size (for example, due to window resizing). When handling the onresize event, I've made sure that the width and height of the containing <div>are updated to the correct size and then tried calling both setupGrid and draw on the plot object but with no effect. I've had some success with the approach of just removing and readding the containing <div> and replotting the graph in it. However, this seems to be prone to getting stuck in infinite resize event loops if I have to add other <div> elements to the document at the same time (like for tooltips for the graph) as I'm guessing those can trigger resize events as well? Is there a good way to handle it that I'm missing? (I'm also using ExplorerCanvas for IE in order to be able to use Flot, if that might have anything to do with it. I haven't really tried in any other browsers yet)
