• Global search box extension - how to make browser to start when suggestion picked.

  Hi, I'm implementing global search box extension (sth like SearchableDictionary sample in android sdk). Everything works fine - suggestions are displayed properly. Problem is that I want browser to start when user picks a suggestion. (each suggestion is a link) Columns of my cursor contain SearchManager.SUGGEST_COLUMN_INTENT_DATA, and I use that to pass http link. My searchable xml contains default intent action set to: android:searchSuggestIntentAction="android.intent.action.VIEW". But when user hits the suggestion, my application is started instead of browser. What am I missing? Regards!

• Downsampling the number of entries in a list (without interpolation)

  I have a Python list with a number of entries, which I need to downsample using either: A maximum number of rows. For example, limiting a list of 1234 entries to 1000. A proportion of the original rows. For example, making the list 1/3 its original length. (I need to be able to do both ways, but only one is used at a time). I believe that for the maximum number of rows I can just calculate the proportion needed and pass that to the proportional downsizer: def downsample_to_max(self, rows, max_rows): return downsample_to_proportion(rows, max_rows / float(len(rows))) ...so I really only need one downsampling function. Any hints, please? EDIT The list contains objects, not numeric values so I do not need to interpolate. Dropping objects is fine.

I have a SHA1 password and PasswordSalt in my aspnet_Membership table. but, when I run a query from the server (a Sql Query), the reader reveals that the pass has returned as its cleartext equivalent. • Visual Studio 2012 testing with csla and entity framework

  In VS2010 my MSTest test run just fine. When running in VS2012 I am getting an error. The test sets the Csla.ApplicationContext.User with a Custom Business Principal. When EntityFramework is asked to provide a new ObjectContext I receive a SerializationException saying that my Custom Business Principal type cannot be found. So far all tests that use EntityFramework fail when running through VS2012's test runner or Resharper7's test runner. I have tried NCrunch's test runner and they all pass. Thank you in advance.

• Why does this VBS scheduled task (to call a URL) not work in Windows Server 2008?

  This same script worked in older server OS environments, and even on my desktop; and allows me to kick off a nightly process on my website's URL. It simply will not execute the URL in my Windows Server 2008 environment. It does not generate any errors, claiming task completion I can pull the same URL up just fine in the server's web browser I have the script running with "highest privileges" I even tried to create a batch file which executes it, so I can explicitly "Run as Administrator" and it still will not execute the URL (but will not generate any errors either). I'm baffled as to why the task claims to have completed successfully, yet the script never reaches the URL. Call LogEntry() Sub LogEntry() 'Force the script to finish on an error. • Symfony2 & Twig - theming file upload widget

  I have an Symfony2 edit form for an entity and one of the fields is for the user's profile picture. I'm trying to theme the Twig file upload widget so that the current picture set for the field is displayed above the file input. So far, I have: {% form_theme edit_form _self %} {% block field_widget %} {% set type = type|default('text') %} {% if type == 'file' %} <img src="{{ value }}" /> {% endif %} {{ block('form_widget_simple') }} {% endblock %} All works well except that the value variable is blank (which makes sense I guess). My question is how can I get hold of the path to the file? Is there a way to pick it out of the form values for the field? Could I perhaps pass it through as an option to the field? Srz if this is a dumb question, still pretty new to Symfony and Twig..

  So this is probably really basic, but I'm fairly new to all this. I am using Entity Framework with POCO entities. I want to call a method when a class property is set. I am trying to build an advertisement platform. I have a Customer class, a Venue class and an Advertisement class. I have my indexes set up in such a way that I can call customer.venue. However, I want to be able to call Customer.Venue.CurrentAdvertisement and have it execute a method (if CurrentAdvertisement is null) and return the current advertisement. I know I can explicitly set it every time, but I want to be able to override my classes so that whenever the CurrentAdvertisement property is accessed via LINQ it runs that method to return an ad. In order to do this I need to pass the Venue class a variable (venue name).

• Need a push in the right direction, to write my first functional test in Rails

  I've read quiet a bit of documentation over the last few days about testing in Rails, I'm sitting down to write my first real test and not 100% sure how to tie what I have learned together to achieve the following functional test (testing a controller) I need to send a GET request to a URL and pass 3 parameters (simple web-service), if the functionality works the keyword true is simply returned, otherwise the keyword false is returned - its in only value returned & not contained in any <div>, <span> or other tags. The test should assert that if "true" is returned the test is successful. This is probably very simple so apologies for such a non-challenging question. If anyone could point me in the write direction on how I can get started, particularly how I can test the response, I'd be very grateful!

  Hi.. I have a UITableViewController. I want to pop the copy/paste menu up when the user touches a cell. How to implement this functionality. Can someone help me. I tried this code, UIMenuController *theMenu = [UIMenuController sharedMenuController]; [theMenu setTargetRect:CGRectMake(10, 200, 100, 40) inView:[self tableView]]; [theMenu setMenuVisible:YES animated:YES]; But it doesn't work. My question is, What CGRect I have to pass as the setTargetRect parameter? Do I need to call SetNeedsDisplayInRect in my TableViewController? What else to do to make this work?

• Multi-threaded downloader in C# question

  Currently I have multi-threaded downloader class that uses HttpWebRequest/Response. All works fine, it's super fast, BUT.. the problem is that the data needs to be streamed while it's downloading to another app. That means that it must be streamed in the right order, the first chunk first, and then the next in the queue. Currently my downloader class is sync and Download() returns byte[]. In my async multi-threaded class I make for example, list with 4 empty elements (for slots) and I pass each index of the slot to each thread using the Download() function. That simulates synchronization, but that's not what I need. How should I do the queue thing, to make sure the data is streamed as soon as the first chunk start downloading.

  I am trying to port my usage meter from a JavaScript Gadget (win) / Widget (OSX) to Android. Total newbie when comes to JAVA + Eclipse + Android 2.1 SDK. Essentially what I want to do is load a page, pass through a username and password and load the resulting page into a array that I can then run some regular expressions through. • Why does concatenating strings in the argument of EXEC sometimes cause a syntax error in T-SQL?

  In MS SQL Server Management Studio 2005, running this code EXEC('SELECT * FROM employees WHERE employeeID = ' + CAST(3 AS VARCHAR)) gives this error: Incorrect syntax near 'CAST' However, if I do this, it works: DECLARE @temp VARCHAR(4000) SET @temp = 'SELECT * FROM employees WHERE employeeID = ' + CAST(3 AS VARCHAR) EXEC(@temp) I found an explanation here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1044831/t-sql-cannot-pass-concatenated-string-as-argument-to-stored-procedure According to the accepted answer, EXEC can take a local variable or a value as its argument, but not an expression. However, if that's the case, why does this work: DECLARE @temp VARCHAR(4000) SET @temp = CAST(3 AS VARCHAR) EXEC('SELECT * FROM employees WHERE employeeID = ' + @temp) 'SELECT * FROM employees WHERE employeeID = ' + @temp sure looks like an expression to me, but the code executes with no errors.

• Force Decimal Regex

  Hi, I'm looking for a regex or a way to format the NumberValidator so that only decimal places are allowed. The domain="real" allows you to put integer values, but I need to force the user to but in 2.0 if they want an integer. This is because they pass through a Castor mapping file, it complains if it gets an integer when it expects a decimal. I dont want to restrict the number of decimal places, just insist that there must be a point, and a number after it. Any help would be much appreciated.

• Managing Data Prefetching and Dependencies with .NET Typed Datasets

  I'm using .NET typed datasets on a project, and I often get into situations where I prefetch data from several tables into a dataset and then pass that dataset to several methods for processing. It seems cleaner to let each method decide exactly which data it needs and then load the data itself. However, several of the methods work with the same data, and I want the performance benefit of loading data in the beginning only once. My problem is that I don't know of a good way or pattern to use for managing dependencies (I want to be sure I load all the data that I'm going to need for each class/method that will use the dataset). Currently, I just end up looking through the code for the various classes that will use the dataset to make sure I'm loading everything appropriately. What are good approaches or patterns to use in this situation? Am I doing something fundamentally wrong? Although I'm using typed datasets, this seems like it would be a common situation where prefetching data is used. Thanks!

• To trigger everytime with .click()?

  I tried to have a .click() on a <a> to find out it wont trigger every time I click, what it suppose to do is open a dialog. That is not the only problem I would need to pass a value to my jquery to. I just cant figure this one out. I need it to be a <a> because it's gone be in a dropdown menu.   I'm using .NET 4 System.Numerics.BigInteger Structure and I'm getting results different from the documentation. In the documentation of BigInteger.ToString() Method It says: The ToString() method supports 50 decimal digits of precision. That is, if the BigInteger value has more than 50 digits, only the 50 most significant digits are preserved in the output string; all other digits are replaced with zeros. I have some code that takes a 60 decimal digits BigInteger and converts it to a string. The 60 significant decimal digits string didn't lose any significant digits: const string vString = "123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890"; Assert.AreEqual(60, vString.Length); BigInteger v = BigInteger.Parse(vString); Assert.AreEqual(60, v.ToString().Length); Assert.AreEqual('9', v.ToString()[58]); Assert.AreEqual('1', v.ToString()[0]); Assert.AreEqual(vString, v.ToString()); All the asserts pass. • Security for web services only used from a Silverlight application?

  I have googled a bit for how I should handle security in a web service application when the application is basically the data repository for a Silverlight application, but have gotten inconclusive results. The Silverlight application is not supposed to have its own user authentication, since it will be reachable only through a web application that the user have already authenticated to get into. As such, I was thinking I could simply add a parameter to the SL application that is a cookie-type value, with a certain lifetime, linked to the user in the database. The SL application would then have to pass this value alongside other parameters to the web services. Since the web service is hopefully going to be a generic web service endpoint, few methods, adding an extra parameter at this level will not be a problem. But, am I supposed to roll this system on my own? It sounds to me as this isn't exactly new features that nobody has considered before, so what are my options?

• Rewriting usort function because of fatal error (PHP bug)

  The two following usort functions throw fatal error Base lambda function for closure not found in our productive environment (PHP 5.4). This seems to be a known PHP bug that should be fixed by now (https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=52144), but it still occurs for us. Anyway, we unfortunately don't have time to figure out what's wrong with our PHP configurations etc. We would like to rewrite these two functions without the use of anonymous functions, so that the error doesn't occur anymore.
