  • is i need to create UINavigationController for each Tabbar?

    i have a problem is i got UItabbarController it contain 3 Tabbars each tabbar need to create own UINavigationController for them? in IB it can only link UINavigationController to 1 navigationcontroller of tabbar only. it can't multiple link. how can i resolve for it. i want to hide and unhide my toolbar. i think it it a bad idea if i must create 3 uinavigationcontroller instance variable for each tabbar. how can i reslove this issue?

    Hi, I have a simple question regarding xcode coding but don't know why things are not performing as I think. I have an array of objects (custom objects). I just want to check if this one is within the array. I used the following code: NSArray *collection = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:A, B, C, nil]; //custom "Item" objects Item *tempItem = [[Fruit alloc] initWithLength:1 width:2 height:3]; //3 instance variables in "Item" objects if([collection containsObject:tempItem]) { NSLog(@"collection contains this item"); } I suppose the above checking will give me a positive result but it's not. Further, I checked whether the objects created are the same. NSLog(@"L:%i W:%i H:%i", itemToCheck.length, itemToCheck.width, itemToCheck.height); for (int i = 0, i < [collection count], i++) { Item *itemInArray = [collection objectAtIndex:i]; NSLog(@"collection contains L:%i W:%i H:%i", itemInArray.length, itemInArray.width, itemInArrayheight); } In the console, this is what I got: L:1 W:2 H:3 collection contains L:0 W:0 H:0 collection contains L:1 W:2 H:3 collection contains L:6 W:8 H:2 Obviously the tempItem is inside the collection array but nothing shows up when I use containsObject: to check it. Could anyone give me some direction which part I am wrong? Thanks a lot!

  • Custom cell and Delete/Move indicators

    Hello, I have a custom UITableViewCell. However, when I got in edit mode, I don't have any Delete and Move indicators appearing. The custom cell draws itself in the contentView. In layoutSubviews, I make sure there is space on the left and one the right of the contentView so that the controls can appear (if this was the problem). - (void)layoutSubviews { self.contentView.frame = CGRectMake(50, 0, self.frame.size.width - 100, sub.thumbnail.size.height + 20); } In the UITableViewController, I return YES in: - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canMoveRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { How could I solve this lack of interactivity.     I am using coredata framework. In my NSManagedObjectModel i am using three entities that are Class, Student and Score where class and student have one-to-many & inverse relationship and Student and Score have also inverse but one-one relationship. Score entity has all optional attributes and having default '0' decimalVaue, which is not assigned at the time new Student is added. But later i want to assign them score individually and also to particular attribute not all of score attributes in a go. I am able to create and add Students to particular Class but dont have any idea how to call particular student and assign them score. For example I want to assign Score'attribute "dribbling" [there are many attributes like "tackling"] a decimal value to Student "David" of Class "Soccer" ,how i can do that? (entity: Spot; id: 0x4b7e580 ; data: { CityToProvince = 0x4b7dbd0 ; Description = "Friend"; Email = "[email protected]"; Age = 21; Name = "Adam"; Phone = "+44175240"; }), How can i filter the array to remove anyone who is over a certain age? or use values in the array to make calculations? Please help i have been stuck for ages on this. Code would be gratefully appreciated.

  • Obj-C: Passing pointers to initialized classes in other classes

    Hey all. I initialized a class in my singleton called DataModel. Now, from my UIViewController, when I click a button, I have a method that is trying to access that class so that I may add an object to one of its dictionaries. My get/set method passes back the pointer to the class from my singleton, but when I am back in my UIViewController, the class passed back doesn't respond to methods. It's like it's just not there. I think it has something to do with the difference in passing pointers around classes or something. I even tried using the copy method to throw a copy back, but no luck.   • Why do I not get low memory issues until images are draw on the screen?

    I am able to load over 200 UIImage objects into a NSMutableDictionary without any memorry warning issues. When I start displaying them on the screen (after about showing 10-20 images) I get low memory warnings and an eventual crash. Only about 8 images are displayed at anyone time. Does it take additional memory to actually draw a UIImage on the screen? No memory leaks are showing up and i've reviewed code for leaks many many times.

  • Get unique artist names from MPMediaQuery

    I am using MPMediaQuery to get all artists from library. Its returning unique names I guess but the problem is I have artists in my library like "Alice In Chains" and "Alice In Chains ". The second "Alice In Chains" has some white spaces at the end, so it returns both. I dont want that. Heres the code...     Hello. I have a problem within my app. I'm trying to find the user's location to the best preciseness in order to determine their zip-code. Currently I have a button that, when pressed, starts a method named locateMe. -(IBAction)locateMe; { self.locationManager = [[CLLocationManager alloc] init]; locationManager.delegate = self; locationManager.desiredAccuracy = kCLLocationAccuracyBest; [locationManager startUpdatingLocation]; Then I've implemented didUpdateToLocation: -(void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation; { NSLog(@"Found location! %f,%f",newLocation.coordinate.latitude,newLocation.coordinate.longitude); } I had previously done much more complicated stuff in didUpdateToLocation but as I tested some things I realized that the first location it found was not precise in the least. So, I put the NSLog call in there and it gave me an output similar to below... Found location! 39.594093,-98.614834 Found location! 39.601372,-98.592171 Found location! 39.601372,-98.592171 Found location! 39.611444,-98.538196 Found location! 39.611444,-98.538196 As you can see, it first gives me a value which is not correct, which was causing problems within my app because it wasn't giving the correct location. So, here's my question. Is there any way I can wait for the location manager to finish finding the most precise location? Thanks in advance! EDIT: I'm wanting something like this: if (newLocation.horizontalAccuracy <= locationManager.desiredAccuracy) { } But it never gets called!

    My problem is since an enum in objective-c essentially is an int value, I am not able to store it in a NSMutableArray. Apparently NSMutableArray won't take any c-date types like an int.   • Why can't I store a float value - it's always zero!

    I have a view controller that is created by the app delegate - it's the first one shown in the app. In its interface I declare float lengthOfTime; I also set it as a property: @property (nonatomic) float lengthOfTime; And in it's implemetation: @synthesize lengthOfTime; In the class viewDidLoad method, I set the value: self.lengthOfTime = 3.0f; However, after this, the value is always zero. No errors, no compile warnings, nothing. Just zero. The class is instantiated, it is showing in the view, so I'm pretty sure it's not a nil reference. I've searched all over Google and can't figure it out. What's going on?!? :(

Where's the difference between UInt32 and unsigned int? And I assume that an unsigned long is bigger than an unsigned int?

  • strange memory error when deleting object from Core Data

    I have an application that downloads an xml file, parses the file, and creates core data objects while doing so. In the parse code I have a function called 'emptydatacontext' that removes all items from Core Data before creating replacements from the xml file. This method looks like this: -(void) emptyDataContext { NSMutableArray* mutableFetchResults = [CoreDataHelper getObjectsFromContext:@"Condition" :@"road" :NO :managedObjectContext]; NSFetchRequest * allCon = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; [allCon setEntity:[NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Condition" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]]; NSError * error = nil; NSArray * conditions = [managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:allCon error:&error]; [allCon release]; for (NSManagedObject * condition in conditions) { [managedObjectContext deleteObject:condition]; } } The first time this runs it deletes all objects and functions as it should - creating new objects from the xml file. I created a 'update' button that starts the exact same process of retrieving the file the preceeding as it did the first time. All is well until its time to delete the core data objects again. This 'deleteObject' call creates a "EXC_BAD_ACCESS" error each time. This only happens on the second time through. See this image for the debugger window as it appears when walking through the deletion FOR loop on the second iteration. Conditions is the fetched array of 7 objects with the objects below. Condition should be an individual condition. link text As you can see 'condition' does not match any of the objects in the 'conditions' array. I'm sure this is why I'm getting the memory access errors. Just not sure why this fetch (or the FOR) is returning a wrong reference. All the code that successfully performes this function on the first iteration is used in the second but with very different results. Thanks in advance for the help!

    I have other pages within my app preferences which are stored as separate files within the settings.bundle. It has come time to localize my app and I can only seem to get the Root values to localize. I was wondering whether there was a trick? The following image shows that my second screen is stored within a file called "MyPrefs.plist" and I have created a corresponding named file "MyPrefs.strings" in the en.lproj directory. Mirroring the same naming and location as the Root.plist and Root.strings. The values with the Root.plist are converted as expected but not in the extra screen. Is there any trick to localizing secondary screens with the settings.bundle?

  • UINavigationController crashes after pushing 3 views onto stack

    I have a navigation controller, which has the following structure: Category Item Item Detail I can choose a category, and then choose an item to see its details. I can do this twice, i.e. go Back to the list of items and select another item. If i try this a third time, the app crashes, I get objc_msgSend in stack but thats all. But, instead of choosing another item, i go to the list of categories, and choose a different category, I can select two items in that category, before it crashes also. What would be causing this? Following Scenario: I have a = UIViewController A that contains a UIScrollView I have a second UIViewController "B" (amongst other things it contains a button) and add it to the ScrollView of A myView *mView = [[myView alloc] init]; [myScrollView addSubview:mView.view]; Is there a way that once the button is pressed that it(view) removes itself from the scrollview? I thought in the direction of setting the delegate of mView to "A" ?! But not sure how that should work in detail.... Any suggestions? Thanks!
