  I've been searching this up on google but I can't formulate my google search with the right terms to find an accurate answer to my question. Is it possible to have a super-fast connection at home to host a high traffic website? What is the generic term for that kind of connection? What's the major drawback of hosting at home? (I have no idea of the price range but it's probably quite expensive) Do you have to be a company to have the right to own such a connection?

• Google analytics/adwords account and leaking of private data

  I am frequently asked to log into clients google analytics and adwords accounts. If I forget to log out before visiting other google properties (google search, youtube etc), this leaves tracks of my views/searches etc, exposing my activities to the client. Summary: Client gives me access to their Google Analytics / AdWords account I log into clients Analytics account and do some stuff Then in another tab I perform some related google searches to solve some related issues Issues solved, I then close the Analytics tab I then visit google.com, perform some unrelated searches I then visit YouTube, view some unrelated videos All Web and YouTube searches are recorded in clients google account, thus leaking potentially sensitive data Even assuming that I remember to log out correctly at step 4 (as I do 95% of the time), anything I do at step 3 is exposed to the client. I would be surprised if this is not a very common issue. I'm looking for a technical solution to ensure that this can never happen. Any ideas?

  I have been working on my personal website for sometime, I think I have been doing a good technical job, but, unfortunately I did a terrible job while structuring the website because I didn't care about the keywords I was going to use. (chapter 34.4) Doesn't this lead to using one style of programming in every language out there, regardless of the particular strengths and weaknesses of the language at hand? Or, to put the question in a more answerable format: Would you propose that one should try to encode one's problem as neatly as possible with the particulars of one's language, or should you rather search the most elegant solution overall, even if that means that you need to implement possibly awkward constructs that do not exist natively in one's language?

• wrong SEO result for staging website

  Hi, We have a domain with URL, lets say: http://www.xxxxstaging.com/abc.php?id=10 which is having a pretty good ranking for some keywords in google. However, this is our staging website and due to some historical reason, it was exposed to public. Now we have a production domain (the one we want to be publicly available), say: http://www.xxxxproduction.com/abc.php?id=10 which have exactly the same html output as xxxxstaging.com our question is, for the exactly same keyword search, it never appear in any page of google. Is it possible for us to "switch" the ranking in google, either tell the robot that they are indeed the same website, or tell google to change it for us? Thank you.

• Shutdown, Restart, Halt issues, not powering off system

  Before any one says search around, I have, to no avail. I can't seem to get it working after trying every fix out there. So basically, when I turn off my laptop it shuts down fine but the last line is "System will now halt" but power never gets cut, I've tried shutdown -P and shutdown -h same result. Then when I try restart it goes through the same process but hangs on "System will now restart" But I can't figure it out, I am running full Ubuntu with no other Operating Systems. Any tips?

• What are some good, simple examples for queues?

  I'm teaching CS2 (Java and data structures), and am having some difficulty coming up with good examples to use when teaching queues. The two major applications I use them for are multithreaded message passing (but MT programming is out of scope for the course), and BFS-style algorithms (and I won't be covering graphs until later in the term). I also want to avoid contrived examples. Most things that I think of, if I were actually going to solve them in a single-threaded fashion I would just use a list rather than a queue. I tend to only use queues when processing and discovery are interleaved (e.g. search), or in other special cases like length-limited buffers (e.g. maintaining last N items). To the extent practical, I am trying to teach my students good ways to actually do things in real programs, not just toys to show off a feature. Any suggestions of good, simple algorithms or applications of queues that I can use as examples but that require a minimum of other prior knowledge?

  Authentication is such a general problem, which most websites have to implement. There are a few commercial solutions, but all lack sufficient functionality to customize the registration process. Therefore, I am looking for an open-source alternative. I am using PHP and with PostgreSQL as database, but as far as I understand one could utilize authentication solutions using other technologies and integrate them into our site in various ways. Therefore, I am looking for such solutions in any technology apart from those requiring Microsoft infrastructure...   Will changing links to remove query string parameters that are no longer used have any negative impact on search engine rankings? Say I have a page about.php on my site, and all of my links to this page are of the form http://www.example.com/about.php?foo=bar and I've made some changes to the script such that the parameter foo is no longer used. I would like to remove the unused parameter from the links so the URL will look cleaner, but I am concerned that this could cause problems with SEO. Is it safe to remove ?foo=bar from my links?

  So as I've described in a previous post about span tags within head tags, I'm practicing application of microdata via http://schema.org. Anyone who's browsed the documentation there knows that there's a lot of need for improvement for more clear understandings on use for each property. My question on this post is more about the "significantLinks" property and how it effects SEO for on page, in content anchored text. Does anyone have any more information regarding whether its good to use for link optimization? I understand what schema.org means that it's to be used on "non-navigational links" and those links should be relevant to the current page's meaning. But will using this property hurt SEO or make SEO better for each page? • Do wordpress websites get indexed quicker by SE than a regular website?

  I registered a couple of domains with the names of categories of products we sell. I then installed wordpress in one of those domains and played around with it for a bit, and left it alone for about a month. There was a link on my regular website to that secondary website and that website was also registered in google's webmaster tools, but that's that. I then searched on google last week for that product category, and to my surprise, that secondary website showed up in the 2nd or 3rd page on google. Now my question is: Do search engines index wordpress websites quicker? I had given up on using wordpress for that website, since it's so simple, but should i use it, would it give me better results? • Lost desktop settings in KDE

  After next unsuccessful attempt to install ATI fglrx drivers, when I also changed GRUB config a bit (GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="radeon.modeset=0 and GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nomodeset"). When I restored everything to default (uninstalled fglrx, restored default values in GRUB config and xorg.conf) KDE logged me into completely new desktop, with (I suppose) default configuration. Is there a way to restore my previous desktop settings? What could be the cause? SOLVED: Something was messed out with display settings. Search for 'Display Configuration' and there deselect one display. Or is there a better option?

• Adding a list of "recent articles" affects SEO

  We have a site which has a sidebar with sections (or "widgets" if you like) showing stuff like "Recent Articles", "Other Articles by this User", "Similar Articles" etc. The issue is, Google seems to take these links very seriously. In fact, if I have only a single article which is closely related to a certain phrase (and several other pages link to it in their sidebars), when I do a Google search, it lists all those other pages highlighting that one link to the page that should actually be the most relevant one. And these pages don't even mention the phrase anywhere else. It there a common approach with adding these sidebar links? For example, I might add them through ajax after the page is loaded, but then crawlers will have harder time finding them?
