Using Sqlite3 with CakePHP

Hello, I'm trying to run Sqlite3 with CakePHP. Yes, i know it's not officially supported, but this post here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1021980/cakephp-sqlite says it's possible. I've downloaded the new driver file "dbo_sqlite3.7.php" and put it in "cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo". Now I'm having trouble getting connected to the db. Things I'm confused on: Where should my database.sqlite file be kept What should my config file look like. Should I be referencing the full filename of the driver? Like 'driver' = 'dbo_sqlite3.7.php'? And can I use relative paths to the db file? Is there a difference in sqlite3 files and sqlite2 files by themselves, or is it just the way that you handle the files that makes the difference? Thank you for your help. I'm new to cake and I'm excited about learning more.

I wanted to check the status of running Django on the Google App Engine currently and what the benefits of running django on GAE over simply using Webapp. Django main killer feature, IMHO, is the reuseable apps and middleware. Unfortunately, most current Django apps use models or model forms (django-tags, django-reviews, django-profiles, Pinax apps). So what are the remaining features or benefits that django has that can still run in Google App Engine (other than what's disabled: the popular django apps, session and authentication middleware, users and admin, models, etc). Also, is there a list of the Django apps that work in App Engine as well?

Localize DisplayNameAttributes in ActionFilter?

Is it possible to access the DisplayNameAttributes that are used on my ViewData.Model so I can Localize them before sending them to the view? Something like this: Public Void OnActionExecuted(ActionExecutedContext: filterContext) { foreach (DisplayNameAttribute attr in filterContext...) { attr.TheValue = AppMessages.GetLocazation(attr.TheValue); } } What I'm missing is how to access the attributes. Is this possible at all? P.S: We're using vb.net at my job and it's infiltrating my brain. So apologies if my C# is a tad off.

Memory leak returning QIcon

I started using Qt but I'm facing a big problem: I implemented my custom model that inhrerits from the QAbstractListModel class. What I want to do is to display a list with icon. All works and the image is shown with my code but it creates a memory leak. Entity Framework, full-text search and temporary tables

I have a LINQ-2-Entity query builder, nesting different kinds of Where clauses depending on a fairly complex search form. Works great so far. Now I need to use a SQL Server fulltext search index in some of my queries. Is there any chance to add the search term directly to the LINQ query, and have the score available as a selectable property? If not, I could write a stored procedure to load a list of all row IDs matching the full-text search criteria, and then use a LINQ-2-Entity query to load the detail data and evaluate other optional filter criteria in a loop per row. That would be of course a very bad idea performance-wise. Another option would be to use a stored procedure to insert all row IDs matching the full-text search into a temporary table, and then let the LINQ query join the temporary table. Question is: how to join a temporary table in a LINQ query, as it cannot be part of the entity model?

code first CTP5 error message

I get the following error message with a new project I have set using code first CTP5. Can't find anything on the web about it. Has anyone encountered this error message? The context cannot be used while the model is being created. This occurs the first time my database context is called (code below): using (StaffData context = new StaffData()) { return context.Employees.Count(e = e.EmployeeReference) == 1; } At this point the database has not been created. I have a database initialiser DropCreateDatabaseIfModelChanges which I set in app_start.

DB2 Integrity Checks and Exception Tables

I am working on planning a migration of a DB2 8.1 database from a horrible IBM encoding to UTF-8 to support further languages etc. I am encountering an issue that I am stuck on. A few notes on this migration: We are using db2move to export and load the data and db2look to get the details fo the database (tablespaces, tables, keys etc). We found the loading process worked nicely with db2move import, however, the data takes 7 hours to load and this was unacceptable downtime when we actually complete the conversion on the main database. We are now using db2move load, which is much faster as it seems to simply throw the data in without integrity checks. Which leads to my current issue. After completing the db2move load process, several tables are in a check pending state and require integrity checks. Integrity checks are done via the following: set integrity for . immediate checked This works for most tables, however, some tables give an error: DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a valid Command Line Processor command. During SQL processing it returned: SQL3603N Check data processing through the SET INTEGRITY statement has found integrity violation involving a constraint with name "blah.SQL120124110232400". SQLSTATE=23514 The internets tell me that the solution to this issue is to create an exception table based on the actual table and tell the SET INTEGRITY command to send any exceptions to that table (as below): db2 create table blah_EXCEPTION like blah db2 SET INTEGRITY FOR blah IMMEDIATE CHECKED FOR EXCEPTION IN blah USE blah_EXCEPTION NOW, here is the specific issue I am having! The above forces all the rows with issues to the specified exception table. Well that's just super, buuuuuut I can not lose data in this conversion, its simply unacceptable. The internets and IBM has a vague description of sending the violations to the exception tables and then "dealing with the data" that is in the exception table. Unfortunately, I am not clear what this means and I was hoping that some wise individual knows and could help me out and let me know how I can retrieve this data from these tables and place the data in the original/proper table rather than these exception tables. Routing Users to single Models with Rails

I'm creating a Rails app for students and high schools and I'm having some trouble with my User.rb. I want to have a user model to be used for logging in, but having that user have many roles. The tricky part is that I want users that have a student role to have_one student page, and those that have a role of principal to have_one high_school page. The students and also nested in the high_school so the entire thing becomes a big mess. So my question(s): How do I limit a user to only creating one student / high school to represent them? Also how would I nest this student pages inside the highschool without screwing up the user system? My environment: Rails3 and Ruby 1.9.2dev Thank you!

Basic Ruby on Rails Question about routing

I have a controller without any related model. This controller is to span some informations from various models. I have lots of actions there, which define certain views on the page. What would be the best way to organize routes for this controller. What I would like is to have /dashboard/something point to any action in the dashboard controller. Not actions like new/edit but arbitrary (showstats, etc). With trail and error I made something like this: map.dashboard 'dashboard/:action', :controller => 'dashboard', :action => :action Now it is possible to access those url using helper: dashboard_url('actionname') This approch seems to be working ok, but is this the way to go? I am not quite sure understand, how are the helper method names generated. How to generate same helper names as in basic controllers "action_controller_url" ? That would be more generic and made the code more consistent. Thanks in advance.

Only show content when certain criteria is met?

I'm wondering if theres a best practice for what I'm trying to accomplish... First we have the model categories, categories, has_many posts. Now lets say, users add posts. Now, I have a page, that I want to display only the current user's posts by category. Lets say we have the following categories: A, B, and C User 1, has posted in Categories A and B. In my view I have something like: @categories.each do |category| category.name @posts.each do |post| if post.category_id==category.id post content here end end end The problem with this, is I'm going to show the empty category, as well as the categories that do have content. Is there a more efficient way of going about this? As I don't want to show the empty categories. Best, Elliot

Now I want to create a Method where the selected Rows (or the whole Line) will be copied into the QClipboard. After that I want to insert it into my OpenOffice.Calc-Document. But I have no Idea what to do with the "Selected"-SIGNAL and the QModelIndex and how to put this into the Clipboard. So can you please help me? Berschi

[Cocoa] CoreData bindings for NSPopupButton

I'm looking to use a dropdown menu (possibly an NSPopupButton object) to represent the hierarchical results of two Core Data entities (Genre and Movie) and their relationships. In my current data model, my Genre entity has a one-to-many relationship with my Movie entity. What I'm now looking to do is generate the contents of an NSPopupButton to show a hierarchical list of Genres and the Movies associated with them, like so: Genre 1 Film 1 Film 2 Genre 2 Film 3 Film 4 Note that, in the above example, only Movie objects are to be selectable by the user (Genre objects will appear, but be unselectable). Also, to complicate matters slightly, I have an additional NSPopupButton which lists Movie Rental locations. The location selected by the user ultimately impacts on the genres and films available in the second dropdown. I imagine that bindings will only take me so far with this problem and that, ultimately, I'll have to populate the contents of the dropdown menu myself. I'm posting here for thoughts and opinions on the best way to go about this.

MVC separation works in more complex way: while (game_loop) { game->cotroller->io_events(this); game->model->logic(this); game->view->rendering(); } So changing Game States becomes error prone task (switch 3 classes, not 1). What are practical ways of combining these 2 concepts?

I have my table like this Product (uuid, Name) and one datagridview to display this information ( dataGridView.DataSouce = Products which is assign on runtime) My problem is that I want to have "No" column on dataGridView which will show like below No | Name 1 | ProdctA 2 | ProductB 3 | ProductC What I do right now is create a "No" field on my product Model, and loop through all the row and assign value to it. C# settings using ApplicationSettingsBase - roaming and common

I'm using the Windows Forms Application settings architecture (or however you're supposed to refer to it) and am successfully saving user settings to AppData. What I want to do is have some settings common to all users of a particular machine and some settings which roam with users across machines. For example I have some settings relating to a peripheral attached to the computer (model, settings etc.) and some user preferences like user interface colours. The colours preferences should roam with the user, but the peripheral settings should stay on the local computer no matter who's logged on. How can I mark these types of settings so that some get stored in /AppData/... and some in /AppData? Note that I don't want Application level settings - each computer the app will be installed on will have different settings. I'm targetting .Net 3.0 if that makes a difference.

Hi All, I am developing my first rails site (yup, i am a rails idiot). I'm writing a blog, and i got to the comments part. I installed acts-as-commentable-with-threading ( GitHub ), i made and ran the migration like the install instructions said. I have added acts_as_commentable to my Posts model and i have a Comments controller When i add @comment = Comment.build_from(params[:id],1, params[:body] ) I get the error. undefined method `build_from' for # Clearly i am doing something terribly wrong, and i don't really get the example. What should i be feeding to build_from? Can somebody explain this plugin step by step? :) Or is there an easier way to get simple threaded comments?

Django Admin drop down combobox and assigned values

I have several question for the Django Admin feature. Im kind of new in Django so im not sure how to do it. Basically what Im looking to do is when Im adding information on the model. Some of the fields i want them to be drop-downs and maybe combo-boxes with AutoCompleteMode. ASP.Net security using Operations Based Security

All the security stuff I have worked with in the past in ASP.Net for the most part has been role based. This is easy enough to implement and ASP.Net is geared for this type of security model. However, I am looking for something a little more fine grained than simple role based security. Essentially I want to be able to write code like this: if(SecurityService.CanPerformOperation("SomeUpdateOperation")){ // perform some update logic here } I would also need row level security access like this: if(SecurityService.CanPerformOperation("SomeViewOperation", SomeEntityIdentifier)){ // Allow user to see specific data } Again, fine grained access control. Is there anything like this already built? Some framework that I can drop into ASP.Net and start using, or am I going to have to build this myself?

Custom broadcast events in AS3?

In Actionscript 3, most events use the capture/target/bubble model, which is pretty popular nowadays: When an event occurs, it moves through the three phases of the event flow: the capture phase, which flows from the top of the display list hierarchy to the node just before the target node; the target phase, which comprises the target node; and the bubbling phase, which flows from the node subsequent to the target node back up the display list hierarchy. However, some events, such as the Sprite class's enterFrame event, do not capture OR bubble - you must subscribe directly to the target to detect the event. The documentation refers to these as "broadcast events." I assume this is for performance reasons, since these events will be triggered constantly for each sprite on stage and you don't want to have to deal with all that superfluous event propagation. I want to dispatch my own broadcast events. I know you can prevent an event from bubbling (Event.bubbles = false), but can you get rid of capture as well?

Odd Drag and drop sorting error Rails for nested attributes

I've got this weird bug when trying to use drag and drag for two models (one nested within another). I've a category model which has many apps. In my category index page, I tried use "content_tag_for" to sort categories and apps within each category. But for some odd reason only the first element has drag, drop enabled. I can drag and drop categories all I want, but I can't drag the app in the second category, just the first category. Copy and paste gets ridiculously hopeless with HAML, so here's a Pastie instead. I made a sample app on heroku for you to check out here. Drag and drag work for both category and app, so I'm guessing it has to do something with the ul or li. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

How do I free SQLServerCE's COM instance from the current running process?

It's been a while since I touched COM so be nice ;) This is under WindowsCE 5.0 with SQLServerCE 2.0. After calling this to load SQLServerCE 2.0 : - IDBInitialize *pIDBInitialize = NULL; CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SQLSERVERCE_2_0, NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_IDBInitialize, (void**)&pIDBInitialize); Module load occurs for SSCE20.dll which obviously loads the SQLServerCE engine into the process space. What I don't understand is if I do this immediately after :- pIDBInitialize->Release(); I don't see a dll module unload, so that SSCE20.dll (and friends) are still loaded into my process. Now I tried CoFreeUnusedLibraries() which I figure forces COM to purge any unused libraries, but it doesn't seem to do the trick. At runtime I want to be able to completely unload the SQLServerCE 2.0 dll from the process to streamline an upgrade to 3.5SP1. I suspect this has something to do with the shared dll model that Microsoft use under WindowsCE... but, I might be wrong :) Thanks in advance, David.

Avoiding the Controller with Routing Rules in ASP.NET MVC

I've created a website with ASP.NET MVC. I have a number of static pages that I am currently serving through a single controller called Home. This creates some rather ugly URLs. example.com/Home/About example.com/Home/ContactUs example.com/Home/Features You get the idea. I'd rather not have to create a controller for each one of these as the actions simply call the View with no model being passed in. Is there a way to write a routing rule that will remove the controller from the URL? I'd like it to look like: example.com/About example.com/ContactUs example.com/Features If not, how is this situation normally handled? I imagine I'm not the first person to run in to this.

Asp.Net Program Architecture

I've just taken on a new Asp.Net MVC application and after opening it up I find the following, [Project].Web [Project].Models [Project].BLL [Project].DAL Now, something thats become clear is that there is the data has to do a hell of a lot before it makes it to the View (DatabaseDALRepoBLLConvertToModelControllerView). The DAL is Subsonic, the repositorys in the DAL return the subsonic entities to the BLL which process them does crazy things and converts them into a Model (From the .Models) sometimes with classes that look like this public DataModel GetDataModel(EntityObject Src) { var ReturnData = new DataModel(): ReturnData.ID = Src.ID; ReturnDate.Name = Src.Name; //etc etc } Now, the question is, "Is this complete overkill"? Ok the project is of a decent size and can only get bigger but is it worth carrying on with all this? I dont want to use AutoMapper as it just seems like it makes the complication worse. Can anyone shed any light on this?

MVC Design Question

On a MVC 2 website what I want to do is get a list of products / CategoryId. From that list, create a list of distinct CategoryId's. Then randomly pick a categoryId from the second list and use it to get all the products for that categoryId. I then want to store that CategoryId so that I don't display those products on the next run. I don't need any code examples to start. What I'm wondering is that I think I would put this code in a class in my model (Dll) and store the list of displayed CategoryId's in session. Is this a good solution or should I go another way?
