  • Is there a view for inputing integers in Android?

    - by J. Pablo Fernández
I'm looking for something like the individual parts of the date picker dialog. A view that allows you to input integers (and only integers) that you can limit (between 1 and 10 for example), where you can use the keyboard or the arrows in the view itself. Does it exists? It is for a dialog. A ready-made dialog to request an integer would also help.

  • iPhone SDK: Why is my view not lining up?

    - by iPhone Developer
When I run my app, for some reason the view is pushed up too far. The space it is pushed up too far appears to be the height of the status bar. ( I am using a NIB. I have verified that both MainWindow and this view has the simulated status bar checked. I'm not sure what could be wrong? Any help appreciated.

  • How can I pass information between 2 different View Controllers?

    - by sagiftw
Hi, This is a simple question: I have 2 different view controllers, and each one has its own data stored in its .m file. I want to take a value, for instance, an integer value (int i=3;) that is declared in ViewController1 and pass it to ViewController2, so I will be able to use that value in the second view controller. Can anyone please tell me how to do it? Thanks in advance, Sagiftw

  • MySQL VIEW vs. embedded query, which one is faster?

    - by Vincenzo
I'm going to optimize a MySQL embedded query with a view, but I'm not sure whether it will give an effect: SELECT id FROM (SELECT * FROM t); I want to convert it to: CREATE VIEW v AS SELECT * FROM t; SELECT id FROM v; I've heard about "indexed views" in SQL Server, but I'm not sure about MySQL. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • How does enterprise failover, such as with google.com, actually work?

    - by Alex Regan
We have a few fedora systems that are configured for web, FTP, and email services. We'd like to mirror these services, so that we can provide near 100% reliability for our users. I'm a fairly experienced Linux administrator, but don't have much experience with redundant systems. What is the best way to do this? How does google and amazon do it? Google.com resolves to multiple IP addresses, but if my local desktop caches one of the IPs that are unreachable, I'm going to get a failed connection message. How do they prevent that from happening? If one of their servers goes down, how is it automatically redirected to another system, without the end-user ever knowing it? I understand there are failover devices, but they're only for failing over the system itself, not a complete network. Let's say we have the worst-case scenario, such as my primary system becomes inaccessible. What are the fundamental components that are used on Linux systems to provide this capability? I'm looking for concepts, or approaches, not answers like "check out openstack". What are the actual pieces that make up the solution? What has to be done to implement this capability? Hopefully my question is clear. I'd like to know what the pieces are that make up a failover system and what approach is taken by successful organizations that implement it. Thanks again, Alex

  • On a failing hard drive, I am able to view data but unable to copy it - why?

    - by Tom
I have a 2.5" external hard drive that is failing. It's not making the expected 'clicking' noise that most hard drives and I am able to view the data, but I am unable to actually retrieve the data. I attempted to use SpinRite in order to access the data on the drive, but it didn't like the external drive. When I view the drive's property page, the drive shows that it's used space is at 100% and that it has 0 bytes available; however, the progress indicator under the drive icon in Windows Explorer shows that it's roughly 50% full (which is correct). When I attempt to run Windows' "Error Checking" tool and attempt to "scan for an attempt recovery of bad sectors," the tool begins to run then immediately closes with no error message. I am able to browse the contents of the drive using Windows Explorer. When I begin to try copying any given single file, the copy process begins, an indicator starts, and then the copy fails with no real error message. The Disk Management page in Computer Management under Control Panel also shows this drive has being 'Healthy.' I dropped the drive off at a data recovery store and they said that "The data seems to be intact, but an internal failure is preventing any information from being retrieved." They offered to provide me references to a data recovery specialist. I've also attempted to run CHKDSK on the drive (with and without arguments) but it returns the following error: The type of the filesystem is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives. Before going the route of more expensive data recovery, I'm wondering if these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? Other questions... I'm willing to continue trying tools such as TestDisk and/or PhotoRec (as the majority of the data that I'd like to salvage are photos) but how long I should expect either tool to run given approximately 400GB of data? I'm also comfortable using Linux so I welcome any suggestions for utilities or tools and strategies with which you've had success.

  • Etag configuration with multiple apache servers or CDN / How does Google do ETags?

    - by perrierism
I have an application which is served from two apache2 servers and I want to configure the ETags on static content. In the future I would also like to use a CDN. I see that this is supposed to be a problem because the Etag information will be different from server to server... The ETag format for Apache 1.3 and 2.x is inode-size-timestamp. Although a given file may reside in the same directory across multiple servers, and have the same file size, permissions, timestamp, etc., its inode is different from one server to the next. So if you're using more than one webserver to host your app (like 90% of the webapps you use everyday do), it's supposed to be an issue. However I see Google uses Etags, and certainly they use multiple servers and CDN and edge caching, etc... I get a 304 response for any cached Google content. How do they do it? How do you get around the multiple server issue? Is there a way to configure this with Apache?

  • How do I set up a Windows NFS share so that I can view it's contents on Linux?

    - by hewhocutsdown
My NFS server is a Windows XP SP3 box with the Microsoft Windows Services for Unix installed. I have a share configured under C:\NFS with the share name NFS and ANSI encoding. Anonymous access is enabled, with the anon UID/GID set to 0/0. Additionally, I've set ALL MACHINES to Read-Write, and checked the checkbox to Allow root access. My first NFS client is a Ubuntu 10.04 box, with nfs-common installed. Running sudo mount -t nfs 1.1.1.1:/NFS /home/user/NFS succeeds, but when I attempt to view the folder (even as root), it tells me that I do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of the folder. My second NFS client is an IBM iSeries box running OS/400 V5R3. I used the mount command below: MOUNT TYPE(*NFS) MFS('1.1.1.1:/NFS') MNTOVRDIR('/PARENT/NFS') OPTIONS('rw,nosuid,retry=5,rsize=8096,wsize=8096,timeo=20,retrans=2,acregmin=30,acregmax=60,acdirmin=30,acdirmax=60,soft') CODEPAGE(*BINARY *ASCII) which also mounts successfully. Attempting to WRKLNK '/PARENT/NFS' and use Option 5 to enter the directory yields a Not authorized to object error - even though I am a security officer with the *ALLOBJ special authority. My gut says that it's a problem with the Windows share, but I don't know what it could be. Do you have any suggestions?

  • Can I use multiple URLs in the URL field of KeePass?

    - by Sammy
I am using KeePass version 2.19. What I would like to do is have more than just one URL address associated with a given user name and password. The entry for a given website might look something like this... Title google User Name email Password pass URL https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?hl=en&continue=https://www.google.com/ https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?hl=sv&continue=https://www.google.com/ https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?hl=de&continue=https://www.google.com/ As you can see the ?hl=en changes into ?hl=sv and then to ?hl=de for the three different languages in which I wish to view the Google log-in page. But this of course could be something completely different, like different web services from the same provider like YouTube and Gmail by Google. Very much like SE where you have several websites but only use one user name and password. I imagine something along the lines of having multiple entries for one and the same website, where KeePass would actually prompt you to choose which one you want to use. So you have several user names and passwords that use the same URL. But is it possible to have several URLs using the same user name and password, so that KeePass asks me "to which of the following three URLs do you want to auto-log into with this password"?

  • I have finally traded my Blackberry in for a Droid!

    - by Bob Porter
Over the years I have used a number of different types of phones. Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Nokia, and now Android. Until the Blackberry, which was my last phone (and I still have one issued from my office) I had never found a phone that “just worked” especially with email and messaging. The Blackberry did, and does, excel at those functions. My last personal phone was a Storm 1 which was Blackberry’s first touch screen phone. The Storm 2 was an improved version that fixed some screen press detection issues from the first model and it added Wifi. Over the last few years I have watched others acquire and fall in love with their ‘Droid’s including a number of iPhone users which surprised me. Our office has until recently only supported Blackberry phones, adding iPhones within the last year or so. When I spoke with our internal telecom folks they confirmed they were evaluating Android phones, but felt they still were not secure enough out of the box for corporate use and SOX compliance. That being said, as a personal phone, the Droid Rocks! I am impressed with its speed, the number of apps available, and the overall design. It is not as “flashy” as an iPhone but it does everything that I care about and more. The model I bought is the Motorola Droid 2 Global from Verizon. It is currently running Android 2.2 for it’s OS, 2.3 is just around the corner. It has 8 gigs of internal flash memory and can handle up to a 32 gig SDCard. (I currently have 2 8 gig cards, one for backups, and have ordered a 16 gig card!) Being a geek at heart, I “rooted” the phone which means gained superuser access to the OS on the phone. And opens a number of doors for further modifications down the road. Also being a geek meant I have already setup a development environment and built and deployed the obligatory “Hello Droid” application. I will be writing of my development experiences with this new platform here often, to start off I thought I would share my current application list to give you an idea what I am using. • SQL SERVER – Expanding Views – Contest Win Joes 2 Pros Combo (USD 198) – Day 4 of 5

    - by pinaldave
August 2011 we ran a contest where every day we give away one book for an entire month. The contest had extreme success. Lots of people participated and lots of give away. I have received lots of questions if we are doing something similar this month. Absolutely, instead of running a contest a month long we are doing something more interesting. We are giving away USD 198 worth gift every day for this week. We are giving away Joes 2 Pros 5 Volumes (BOOK) SQL 2008 Development Certification Training Kit every day. One copy in India and One in USA. Total 2 of the giveaway (worth USD 198). All the gifts are sponsored from the Koenig Training Solution and Joes 2 Pros. The books are available here Amazon | Flipkart | Indiaplaza How to Win: Read the Question Read the Hints Answer the Quiz in Contact Form in following format Question Answer Name of the country (The contest is open for USA and India residents only) 2 Winners will be randomly selected announced on August 20th. Question of the Day: Which of the following key word will force the query to use indexes created on views? a) ENCRYPTION b) SCHEMABINDING c) NOEXPAND d) CHECK OPTION Query Hints: BIG HINT POST Usually, the assumption is that Index on the table will use Index on the table and Index on view will be used by view. However, that is the misconception. It does not happen this way. In fact, if you notice the image, you will find the both of them (table and view) use both the index created on the table. The index created on the view is not used. The reason for the same as listed in BOL. The cost of using the indexed view may exceed the cost of getting the data from the base tables, or the query is so simple that a query against the base tables is fast and easy to find. This often happens when the indexed view is defined on small tables. You can use the NOEXPAND hint if you want to force the query processor to use the indexed view. This may require you to rewrite your query if you don’t initially reference the view explicitly. You can get the actual cost of the query with NOEXPAND and compare it to the actual cost of the query plan that doesn’t reference the view. If they are close, this may give you the confidence that the decision of whether or not to use the indexed view doesn’t matter. Additional Hints: I have previously discussed various concepts from SQL Server Joes 2 Pros Volume 4. SQL Joes 2 Pros Development Series – Structured Error Handling SQL Joes 2 Pros Development Series – SQL Server Error Messages SQL Joes 2 Pros Development Series – Table-Valued Functions SQL Joes 2 Pros Development Series – Table-Valued Store Procedure Parameters SQL Joes 2 Pros Development Series – Easy Introduction to CHECK Options SQL Joes 2 Pros Development Series – Introduction to Views SQL Joes 2 Pros Development Series – All about SQL Constraints Next Step: Answer the Quiz in Contact Form in following format Question Answer Name of the country (The contest is open for USA and India) Bonus Winner Leave a comment with your favorite article from the “additional hints” section and you may be eligible for surprise gift. There is no country restriction for this Bonus Contest. Do mention why you liked it any particular blog post and I will announce the winner of the same along with the main contest. • how to code multiple button navigation with java activities [migrated]

    - by user1738212
Question 1: I have 2 activities. I was wondering how to optimize it. I can either create 2 activities with multiple listeners. Or create multiple java files for each button(onclick listener) Question 2: I have tried to create multiple listeners in one java but can only get one button to work. What is the syntax for multiple listeners in one java file? • How to filter Backbone.js Collection and Rerender App View?

    - by Jeremy H.
    Is is a total Backbone.js noob question. I am working off of the ToDo Backbone.js example trying to build out a fairly simple single app interface. While the todo project is more about user input, this app is more about filtering the data based on the user options (click events). I am completely new to Backbone.js and Mongoose and have been unable to find a good example of what I am trying to do. I have been able to get my api to pull the data from the MongoDB collection and drop it into the Backbone.js collection which renders it in the app. What I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do is filter that data and re-render the app view. I am trying to filter by the "type" field in the document. Here is my script: (I am totally aware of some major refactoring needed, I am just rapid prototyping a concept.) $(function() { window.Job = Backbone.Model.extend({ idAttribute: "_id", defaults: function() { return { attachments: false } } }); window.JobsList = Backbone.Collection.extend({ model: Job, url: '/api/jobs', leads: function() { return this.filter(function(job){ return job.get('type') == "Lead"; }); } }); window.Jobs = new JobsList; window.JobView = Backbone.View.extend({ tagName: "div", className: "item", template: _.template($('#item-template').html()), initialize: function() { this.model.bind('change', this.render, this); this.model.bind('destroy', this.remove, this); }, render: function() { $(this.el).html(this.template(this.model.toJSON())); this.setText(); return this; }, setText: function() { var month=new Array(); month[0]="Jan"; month[1]="Feb"; month[2]="Mar"; month[3]="Apr"; month[4]="May"; month[5]="Jun"; month[6]="Jul"; month[7]="Aug"; month[8]="Sep"; month[9]="Oct"; month[10]="Nov"; month[11]="Dec"; var title = this.model.get('title'); var description = this.model.get('description'); var datemonth = this.model.get('datem'); var dateday = this.model.get('dated'); var jobtype = this.model.get('type'); var jobstatus = this.model.get('status'); var amount = this.model.get('amount'); var paymentstatus = this.model.get('paymentstatus') var type = this.$('.status .jobtype'); var status = this.$('.status .jobstatus'); this.$('.title a').text(title); this.$('.description').text(description); this.$('.date .month').text(month[datemonth]); this.$('.date .day').text(dateday); type.text(jobtype); status.text(jobstatus); if(amount > 0) this.$('.paymentamount').text(amount) if(paymentstatus) this.$('.paymentstatus').text(paymentstatus) if(jobstatus === 'New') { status.addClass('new'); } else if (jobstatus === 'Past Due') { status.addClass('pastdue') }; if(jobtype === 'Lead') { type.addClass('lead'); } else if (jobtype === '') { type.addClass(''); }; }, remove: function() { $(this.el).remove(); }, clear: function() { this.model.destroy(); } }); window.AppView = Backbone.View.extend({ el: $("#main"), events: { "click #leads .highlight" : "filterLeads" }, initialize: function() { Jobs.bind('add', this.addOne, this); Jobs.bind('reset', this.addAll, this); Jobs.bind('all', this.render, this); Jobs.fetch(); }, addOne: function(job) { var view = new JobView({model: job}); this.$("#activitystream").append(view.render().el); }, addAll: function() { Jobs.each(this.addOne); }, filterLeads: function() { // left here, this event fires but i need to figure out how to filter the activity list. } }); window.App = new AppView; });
