  Why does an ampersand in URL cause failure of the following command? I want to open a web page by running Safari in Terminal, placing the URL as an argument. This works as expected: open -a safari "http://endic.naver.com/search.nhn?sLn=en&searchOption=all&query=good" But once the quotes being removed, it wouldn't work as expected: open -a safari http://endic.naver.com/search.nhn?sLn=en&searchOption=all&query=good Instead, it returns: [3] 5395 [4] 5396 [1] Done open -a safari http://endic.naver.com/search.nhn?sLn=en [2] Done searchOption=all Seems like ampersand in the URL was treated as "running previous command in the background", though there is no space following the ampersand in the URL.

• Is there a way to "lock" the viewport in vim?

  I recently started using Vim with NERDTree. The annoying thing is when I close the buffer, NERDTree expands to fill the rest of the screen, and I have to open another file and reopen NERDTree to get it back to the old layout. Is there a way to "lock" NERDTree in place? Ideally, closing a buffer would replace it with another buffer that's hidden, or open a new blank buffer if no other buffers are open. Thanks!

• SFTP "Could not connect to server error"

  I'm having problems connecting to my server via SFTP. I can SSH in to the system perfectly fine, but for some odd reason, i'm not able to SFTP (which I used to be able to). I have cleared ALL my iptables rules iptables -F still no access. I have removed the sub system (to allow FULL access) still no access. I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is. Thus is therefore making a solution impossible.

• Send chrome tab from w7 laptop to w7 HTPC? (Like with iPad to AppleTV)

  For the last couple days I've been trying to figure out how to get open tabs syncing between chrome installs on different computers to no avail. (if it's supposed to work the way I think it should, that is.) I have a laptop that I do all my web browsing on. Once in a while I'll come across some video that's worthy of the big-screen and the surround sound and want to open that tab (or media) on the HTPC. It'd be nice if I could just 'Right click Send to HTPC' and it opens up there with no further hassle. But even opening chrome on the HTPC and finding all my current tabs waiting would be fine. Alas, open tabs syncing doesn't seem to actually open tabs on other devices for me. Has anyone come up with a way to accomplish anything similar? Thanks all!

I want to be able to configure a subpath to access to another app (in this case, monit). I want something like that: myapp.mycompany.com.br/monit access the monit app. Is it possible?

  I want to created vpn server on Windows Server 2012. First I installed Active Directory domain services, then Remote Access server role. Opened Gettng Started Wizard, entered configure just vpn. Then in Routing and Remote access selected Configure and Enable Routing and Remote Access. There selected custom configuration, vpn. Then created user in active directory and allowed network access permission. After this I tried to connect to vpn from windows 8. I get the following error: Error 720: A connection t the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection. What should I do?

  I have a CentOS server configured as a PPTP VPN Server. The client is a Windows 7 with "Use default gateway on remote network" in advanced TCP/IPv4 properties enable. He can connect to CentOS without any problem and can access to: The Box of his ISP (http://192.168.1.254/) The CentOS server The website which is hosted by the server (through http://) But he canNOT access any other web service (google.com or 74.125.230.224) I am a beginner with web servers so I do not know what can cause this problem. Note 0 : The Windows 7 user must be able to access the whole internet through the CentOS PPTP proxy. • mod_rewrite and Apache questions

  We have an interesting situation in relation to some help desk software that we are trying to setup. This is a web based software application that allows customers and staff to log into it and access tickets and supply updates, etc. The challenge we are having deals with the two different domains that we use and the mod_rewrite rules to make it all work with our SSL certificate that is only bound to one of the domains. I will list the use case scenarios below and the challenges that we are having. If you access http://support.domain1.com/support then it redirects fine to https://support.domain2.com/support If you access http://support.domain2.com/support then it redirects fine to https://support.domain2.com/support If you access https://support.domain1.com/support then it throws an error of "server cannot be found" If you access https://support.domain1.com/support/ after having visited https://support.domain2.com/support then you are presented with a "this connection is untrusted" error about the certificate only being valid for the domain2 domain instead of the domain1 domain name I have tried just about every mod_rewrite rule that I can think of to help make this work and I have not been able to locate the correct combination. I was curious if anyone had some ideas on how to make the redirects work correctly. In the end, we are needing all customers and staff to land at https://support.domain2.com/support regardless of the previous URL combinations that they enter, like listed above. • How Do I Get To Preferences In FireFox

  I'm currently trying to get to preferences in FireFox in Linux Ubuntu. Because I don't have 10 reputation, I can't post an image (otherwise I would). All I see in the browser is the Address Bar, Downloads and Home. If I right-click (or left click) on any of these, I don't have further options (other than Home, but it only allows me to add items to the toolbar, none of which are Preferences/Options/Etc). I tried vising a website to see if more options would open; nothing. I tried right clicking on the main page and each toolbar item (listed) to see if there was another options like "Preferences" or "Options"; nothing. I tried entering "Preferences" in the address bar, thinking maybe it would open automatically; nothing. I tried right clicking on FireFox on the Linux Menu to see if I could open options without opening the program (and tried this even when the program was open); nothing.

The locked folder should be displayed to user as password protected folder, when user try to open the folder, it should ask password. When the user enters correct password it should open, otherwise it should throw an error. Is there any application with this quality? I searched a lot, but I could not find any.

• Windows 7: Shared folder over wifi working for ONLY "Guests"

  Hi, I have a desktop and a laptop connected to same wifi router. Desktop is connected with wire and laptop with wifi. Both the system runs windows 7 and are on the same workgroup. I have shared some folders on desktop and can view the shared folder list on laptop under "network places". But when I try to open a folder, a prompt appears for username and password. When I enter BOTH username and password, It does not authenticate when I enter ONLY username, I get:- "Windows cannot access \WIn71\Setups you do not have permission to access ..." Now to get around this message I have to give access to "Guests" group on my desktop shared folder. Cant seem to figure out why It cant authenticate username with password. And giving access to "Guests" does not sounds safe!

• XP Filesharing works with IP's but not computer names.

  I recently ran into a problem where I was setting up a 5 person LAN. I enabled filesharing on the main computer and wanted to allow the other 4 computers to have access. 2 computers were able to access \expample without any issues. 1 computer would only connect if I uses the ip address \x.x.x.x\data. The third computer was able to access \example but required the user to login every time they tried to access the share. Why is there such inconsistency in these connections? All 5 computers are Windows XP Professional.

  I'm running Solr on Tomcat 8 on a Windows Server 2008 and I want to complete restrict all access to both except local. I've tried adding address attributes to <connector/> tags in the server.xml file and a couple of other things, but I noticed in each case the problem described was limiting access to a particular area, whereas I want a complete block. What is the correct (e.g. deepest/highest) place to set this access restriction within Tomcat?

  I have to support Sharepoint on a daily basis but do not have the equivalent of domain access so I'm constantly having to ask the guy in charge of Sharepoint to add me to a new security group to complete my task. Rather than having to bug him all the time (he is only somewhat technical) it would be easier to simply have the equivalent of domain admin access for Sharepoint (I'm a sys admin and have domain admin access already but this doesn't seem to carry over to FOSS). What is the equivalent of domain admin access on Sharepoint 2010? Thanks in advance.

The real code looks like this: DUT <- UART - testtool.exe My plan is to use create a test application (CodeUnderTest.out) on linux that forks to launch testool.out with two (read & write) named pipes as arguments. But I cannot figure out how to make all the pipe IO non-blocking! The setup would look like this:. CodeUnderTest.out <- named pipes - testTool.out (lauched from CodeUnderTest.out) I have tried opening the pipes as following: open(wpipe,O_WRONLY|O_NONBLOCK); open(rpipe,O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK); But the write blocks until the reader opens the wpipe.   One of the tasks involves me to retrieve the contents of Microsoft Word document (word2007 above). I try to search for some resources online with not much luck; most of the examples are for writing contents to word document using OpenXml. I decide to blog this as my reference and hopefully people who read this post will find it useful as well. To retrieve the contents of Microsoft Word document using XML is extremely simple. 1. Firstly, you need to download and install the Open XML SDK 2.0 for Microsoft Office. (Download link) 2. Create a Console application then add the DocumentFormat.OpenXml.dll and WindowsBase.dll to the project, you can find these dlls in the .NET tab of the Add Reference window. 3. Write the following code to grab the contents from the word document and display it on the console window. You can download the complete source code here.   Three-tier (layer) is a client-server architecture in which the user interface, business process (business rules) and data storage and data access are developed and maintained as independent modules or most often on separate platforms. Basically, there are 3 layers, tier 1 (presentation tier, GUI tier), tier 2 (business objects, business logic tier) and tier 3 (data access tier). These tiers can be developed and tested separately. 3 - Tier Architecture is like following : 1. Presentation Layer 2.Data Manager Layer 3. Data Access Layer  The communication between all these layers need to be done using Business Entities. 1. Presentation Layer is the one where the UI comes into picture 2. Data Manager Layer is the one where all the maipulative code is written. Basically in this layer all the functional code needs to mentioned. 3. Data Access Layer is the one which communicates directly to the database. Data from one layer to other needs to be tranformed using Entities.
