• Does the Dalvik file format (*.dx) support more instructions than a Java .class file?

  Is there anything the Dalvik VM supports (in terms of bytecode) which is not used currently because the .class files don't have it? As an example, if people would write their own Source-to-DX converter for their functional language XYZ, would they be able to implement e. g. full tail calls although the .class file does support tail calls only under certain circumstances?

  I typically write my scripts with a structure like s #!/usr/bin/python import stuff def do_things(): print "FOO" def main(): do_things() if __name__ == "__main__": main() The problem I have is I'd like to have a logging function that is defined globally and I"m not really sure how to do this. I tried a decorator function but if I define it in main I can't call it from other functions in the script. It seems like something that should be easy to do but not something I have experience with.

  I have to fetch all the files from a folder and i am using the function GetFiles() like string[] dirImages = Directory.GetFiles(strPathYearImages + intYear , "*.png"); where strPathYearImages="Images\Holiday\2010\" but when i write the whole path like string[] dirImages = Directory.GetFiles(@"E:\IWP\Images\Holiday\"+ intYear , "*.png"); i get the required result. Just little things like adding regex pattern literals, or perhaps base-2 literals, or multiline strings, etc. Nothing major grammatically (at least for now). How would one go about doing this? Do I need to extend the bytecode compiler? (Is that possible?) Can I write Eclipse plugins to do simple source code transforms before feeding it to the standard Java compiler?

Should I write it as an XMLDocument first and transform using XSL or just use Streamwriter and skip transformation altogether?   I need to manage the trace files for a database on Sql Server 2005 Express Edition. The C2 audit logging is turned on for the database, and the files that it's creating are eating up a lot of space. Can this be done from within Sql Server, or do I need to write a service to monitor these files and take the appropriate actions? I found the [master].[sys].[trace] table with the trace file properties. Does anyone know the meaning of the fields in this table?

• Git: submodule init and update from different folder

  Trying to write a deployment script, working on a repo in a different path. The "git-dir" flag seems to work fine for most commands, but not for submodule work. Am I missing a path directive?
