Hi, I'm using the will paginate gem from http://github.com/mislav/will_paginate Routes: map.resources :post do |post| post.resources :comments end Post Controller: @post = Post.first @comments = @post.comments.paginate :page => params[:page], :per_page => 10 My problem lies in the view: <%= will_paginate @comments %> This generates links like /post/1?page=1 What I need is /post/1/comments?page=1 Is there a way to just tell will_paginate what url helper to use? • Clear form button in HTML...do we really need this?

    - by craigmoliver
I usually add the clear form button to HTML forms by default, but tonight I had what alcholics call a "moment of clarity". Why the hell do we add this? In all my years of using the internet I have never gotten to the end of the form and thought "crap!, I screwed up, I need to reset this!". Is this button actually necessary or a hold over from another time?

Hi, I am looking for ways to implement custom user-roles in windows application with vb.net. I got a database table called Roles with Administrator and User entries. User cannot see some of the form data. In ASP.NET MVC we can do like. [Authorize(Roles = "Administrator")] public function GetAccount() as Array End Function If it could be done this way that would be great. Thanks in advance.

    - by George Johnston
Why would my try-catch block still be throwing an error when it's handled? Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Try Here >> : _MemoryStream.Seek(6 * StartOffset, 0) _MemoryStream.Read(_Buffer, 0, 6) Catch ex As IOException // Handle Error End Try Edit: Cleaned the question up to remove the extraneous information.

  • Rails Tutorial Chapter 4 2nd Ed. Title Helper not being called with out argument.

    - by SuddenlyAwakened
I am running through the Rails Tutorial by Michael Hartl (Screen Cast). Ran into the and issue in chapter 4 on the title helper. I have been putting my own twist on the code as I go to make sure I understand it all. However on this one I it is very similar and I am not quite sure why it is acting the way it is. Here is the code: Application.html.erb <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <%- Rails.logger.info("Testing: #{yield(:title)}") %> <title><%= full_title(yield(:title)) %></title> <%= stylesheet_link_tag "application", :media => "all" %> <%= javascript_include_tag "application" %> <%= csrf_meta_tags %> </head> <body> <%= yield %> </body> </html> Application_helper.rb module ApplicationHelper def full_title(page_title) full_title = "Ruby on Rails Tutorial App" full_title += " | #{page_title}" unless page_title.blank? end end Home.html.erb <h1><%= t(:sample_app) %></h1> <p> This is the home page for the <a href="http://railstutorial.org/">Ruby on Rails Tutorial</a> sample application </p> about.html.erb <% provide(:title, t(:about_us)) %> <h1><%= t(:about_us) %></h1> <p> The <a href="http://railstutorial.org/">Ruby on Rails Tutorial</a> is a project to make a book and screencast to teach web development with <a href="http://railstutorial.org/">Ruby on Rails</a>. This is the sample application for the tutorial. </p> What Happens: The code works fine when I set the provide method like on the about page. However when I do not it does not seem to even call the helper. I am assuming that because no title is passed back. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Thank you all for your help.

I have the following snippet in application_helper.rb def title(page_title) content_for(:title) { page_title } end How should I write a helper spec on the code? Also if there's any open-source Rails app to show good helper testing/specing, do let me know.

  • Pickling a class definition

    - by Giorgio
Is there a way to pickle a class definition? What I'd like to do is pickle the definition (which may created dynamically), and then send it over a TCP connection so that an instance can be created on the other end. I understand that there may be dependencies, like modules and global variables that the class relies on. I'd like to bundle these in the pickling process as well, but I'm not concerned about automatically detecting the dependencies because it's okay if the onus is on the user to specify them.

  • Can Android OS be programmed to interface with a external device via the mini-USB port?

    - by user322865
Basic example, if I bought a chipset with a light socket and bulb soldered to the chipset; then put a USB cable with the mini-USB plug on the end to get plugged into the android phone. Can I write a Java application to turn on/off the light, get the status of the light(on/off) and maybe power a super-small led/bulb with power from the phone itself? Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
