• can't load/read yahoo geocode as xml and read it in jquery

  Hi, I'm populating a listview with a list of databases on a selected SQL instance, then retrieving a value from each database (It's internal product version, column doesn't always exist) I'm calling the below function to populate the second column of the listview: item.SubItems.Add(DBVersionCheck(serverName, database.Name)) Function DBVersionCheck(ByVal SelectedInstance As String, ByVal SelectedDatabase As String) Dim m_Connection As New SqlConnection("Server=" + SelectedInstance + ";User Id=sa;Password=password;Database=" + SelectedDatabase) Dim db_command As New SqlCommand("select Setting from SystemSettings where [Setting] = 'version'", m_Connection) Try m_Connection.Open() Return db_command.ExecuteScalar().trim m_Connection.Dispose() Catch ex As Exception 'MessageBox.Show(ex.Message) Return "NA" Finally m_Connection.Dispose() End Try End Function This works fine except it's creating a connection to each database and leaving it open. My understanding is the close()\dispose() releases only the connection from the pool in ado rather than the actual connection to sql. How would I close the actual connections after I've retrieved the value? Leaving these open will create hundreds of connections to databases that will probably not be used for that session.

The function should return the entire post, no matter if it has such kind of strings. is there another way Django offers? Thank you

• Problems using wxWidgets (wxMSW) within multiple DLL instances

  Preface I'm developing VST-plugins which are DLL-based software modules and loaded by VST-supporting host applications. To open a VST-plugin the host applications loads the VST-DLL and calls an appropriate function of the plugin while providing a native window handle, which the plugin can use to draw it's GUI. I managed to port my original VSTGUI code to the wxWidgets-Framework and now all my plugins run under wxMSW and wxMac but I still have problems under wxMSW to find a correct way to open and close the plugins and I am not sure if this is a wxMSW-only issue. Problem If I use any VST-host application I can open and close multiple instances of one of my VST-plugins without any problems. As soon as I open another of my VST-plugins besides my first VST-plugin and then close all instances of my first VST-plugin the application crashes after a short amount of time within the wxEventHandlerr::ProcessEvent function telling me that the wxTheApp object isn't valid any longer during execution of wxTheApp-FilterEvent (see below).   I'm working on an application that needs to display a context menu on screen in various scenarios. In the function I'm writing, I don't have access to any NSWindows or NSViews. I'd like to use popUpMenuPositioningItem:atLocation:inView as this function works perfectly for me in 10.6. However, we have a requirement to support 10.5, so this function isn't available to me. The feature I'm most interested in, as stated in the documentation is: If view is nil, the location is interpreted in the screen coordinate system. This allows you to pop up a menu disconnected from any window. Basically, I need to display the context menu given a location on screen, but without any associated view. Is there any way to achieve this on 10.5?

  I have a Windows Mobile 6 ARMV4I project where I would like to get the value of the program counter. The function is declared like this: extern "C" unsigned __int32 GetPC(); My assembly code looks like this: GetPC FUNCTION EXPORT GetPC ldr r0, [r15] ; load the PC value in to r0 mov pc, lr ; return the value of r0 ENDFUNC But, when I call the GetPC() function, I get the same number every time.   Hello ::- ). I'm playing with some Opera User JS. I included "1jquery.min.js" in my User JS folder (1 in front because Opera loads them alphabetically). Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be working. window.onload = OnWindowLoad; $(document).ready(function() { alert ($('#area_19')); }); function OnWindowLoad () { alert ($('#area_19')); alert(document.getElementById("area_19")); } What's interesting about this code is that the first two alerts come back in NULL, but the last one does find the object! So the element definitely exists in the page, but my jQuery seems unable to get it. What's even stranger is that the jQuery "ready" function works, indicating that I do have jQuery capability. I'm quite puzzled about all this ::- /. Hopefully somebody can give me a clue ::- ).

  Hi, I am a Javascript/jQuery/Prototype newcomer and I have a page that has a Prototype function to get info from a database and put it into some input fields. This was made before I came to work on this site and now I've been asked to add a hide/show div function. I tried it in jQuery and there were clashes with the two frameworks, (as found in my previous question). My question now is, how would I go about building a show/hide function in Prototype?   I have a custom ListBox which uses a custom Panel as ItemsHost. I want to have control over mouse wheel input, so that turning the wheel changes the single selected item. I believe that the best method to do so is to handle the OnPreviewMouseWheel event (although this is only have what I want since it doesn't provide horizontal wheel data). Now the big question: Is there a best practice where to handle OnPreviewMouseWheel? In ListBox (which by default doesn't have a clue about the arrangement of the Panel's child elements) or in Panel (which by default doesn't have a clue about the "IsSelected" property of it's child elements)?

• Limit a user to view only associated records in rails

  I have an application with three Models (Profile - SubModel - SubSubModel) chained together with has many relationships. I am trying to limit a user, after logging in, to only retrieving records that are associated with their Profile. I am very new to rails and this is what I had been trying in the Profile model has_many :submodels, :conditions => {:profile_id => self.id} but this is returning an empty data set when calling with Profile.find_by_id(1).submodels, how else could I achieve what I am trying to do. Or should I handle this in the controller or view instead, I thought it sounded well suited for the model to handle this.

Below is what I have so far but I doesn't fully work. I need to have the values in array so that I can display them in a table with a column Id and another column text. My problem is that Im not able to retrieve each and every value separately. • Surgical slave reads for Ruby on Rails, mulitple databases.

  Greetings, I'm currently working on a multiple database rails application. I want to off load the SELECT queries on to the slave databases for only SOME of the databases or specific models. The issue is that in places, we swap out the current database connection and put in a different one for a short time; to load fixtures or to handle sharding. Does anyone have any recommendations on a ruby gem that 1. will split select/(sql writes) with a considerable amount of control. We want to handle just some models and we are looking for a neat surgical fix. 2. does not monkey around with activerecord. 3. is still being maintained. TIA -daniel
