  • Reading URL Anchor on IE

    - by tominated
Hi, I've got a page full of links to another page with anchors on the end (like this: index.html#anchor). On the page they point to, I have a script that is supposed to read where the anchor points to in order to display something. On firefox it works perfectly, But I've noticed that IE seems to remove the #anchor from the end of the url, so the script can't grab the text. Is there a way around this, without any server side code?

  • Creating a notification system using a firefox extension

    - by user303052
I am creating a firefox extension that should give a notification when the user hits specific sites. I do not want the same kind of notification that firefox gives for pop-ups. I don't want the user to have to go through the hassle of clicking the X in order to close the notification. Instead, I would like it to look like what happens when a normal firefox download is completed - a notification comes up, and automatically goes after a few seconds. On a mac, it looks like a growl notification, and I love the way it looks. Is there an easy way to implement this feature? Thanks

  • TinyMCE is modifying the XHTML 1.0 Strict HTML I input. How can I stop it?

    - by Matt
    The code I want to have saved through TinyMCE is as follows: <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="550" height="90" id="homepage-banner"> <param name="movie" value="/images/header.swf" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <!--[if !IE]>--> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="/images/header.swf" width="550" height="90"> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <!--<![endif]--> <img src="/images/header.jpg" width="550" height="90" alt="" border="0" /> <!--[if !IE]>--> </object> <!--<![endif]--> </object> Sadly, what I end up with is: <object data="/images/header.swf" height="90" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="550"> <param name="id" value="homepage-banner" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="src" value="/images/header.swf" /> </object> The purpose of the stripped parts of the code is to provide a fallback image if flash is not available on the client. In my tinyMCE.init({ ... }); I am using verify_html: true and valid_elements is set as per this forum topic whereby all valid XHTML 1.0 Strict elements are allowed. I have checked and the above code does comply with the XHTML 1.0 Strict standard. I have tried just setting verify_html to false but it had no effect. How can TinyMCE be configured to leave my HTML alone?!

  • HTML5 Cache manifest file itself is not cached, and called at each resource load

    - by Mic
We have a web app that runs on the iPhone. The manifest file is ok, and the resources(html, css, js) are cached correctly. The page sits in the home screen. The trouble is, when the page loads a resource from the cache, there is as well a GET call to the server to read the Cache Manifest file. The server is configured to send the correct header (max-age=31536000; public, etc...) and caches well all other files except the cache manifest itself. Is this a normal behavior? It looks there is a slight lag, because of that call, for each resource load.Any idea, if these multiple calls can get a status 304 or even better avoided?

  • How to give CSS3 support to IE?

    - by metal-gear-solid
I use IE7.js but it doesn't have CSS3 support. I use jQuery always in my projects. What is the best lightweight way to give all CSS3 selectors and properties support to IE 6,7,8? I'm not asking for HTML5 support only asking to give CSS3 support in as much as light on performance way.

  • How can I create an HTML text field that has scrolling background images before it is clicked?

    - by Jeffrey
I'm looking to add a textbox on my website that captures a single email address. Behind it, I would like a scrolling (or sliding) images to be a "hint" for what the field should be. Example: http://steamboat.com/ - the "Newsletter sign up" toward the top of the page. I can find plenty of jQuery plugins that provide a plain text "hint". Where should I start looking to add this additional affect. Note: I do not want to add any flash elements on the page.

  • jEditable - how do I get the edited textfield variable?

    - by Forkrul Assail
I have a table that I use jEditable with. Saving to the server works, but the callback for refreshing my table element (that I just edited and saved to the server) does not work. /* Apply the jEditable handlers to the table */ $('#example tbody td').editable( '<%= url_for :controller => 'impact_matrix', :action => 'post', :scenario => params[:id] %>', { "callback": function( sValue, y ) { ^ goes missing var aPos = oTable.fnGetPosition( this ); oTable.fnUpdate( sValue, aPos[0], aPos[1] ); }, "submitdata": function ( value, settings ) { temp = value return { "row_id": this.parentNode.getAttribute('id') }; }, sValue (that I point to in the code) - seems to be blank. I do get values for aPos[0] and aPos[1], but not sValue. Could someone please explain to me 'what triggers the callback function?' Or, if I could just see where to get the 'newly edited text' and then just run fnUpdate() on that, I'd be fine. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • IE7 Animated GIF Appears as a Static Image?

    - by Abs
Hello all, After a button is clicked to start a process on my web app, I show a small loading gif (animated) that rotates to indicate to the user something is happening. I put the gif img in place of the button like this using JQuery: $('#btn_holder').html('<img src="images/loading2.gif" style="margin-left:40px; margin-top:7px;" />'); This works great in all browsers (Firefox, IE8, Chrome) except IE7 on a windows server 2003. In IE, the gif appears but it is not animated. What's going on with IE7? How can I test what the problem is? Thanks all

  • Figuring out if overflow:auto would have been triggered on a div

    - by jerrygarciuh
Hi folks, // Major edit, sorry in bed with back pain, screwed up post One of the ad agencies I code for had me set up an alternate scrolling solution because you know how designers hate things that just work but aren't beautiful. The scrolling solution is applied to divs with overflow:hidden and uses jQuery's scrollTo(). So, this is married in places to their CMS. What I have not been able to sort yet is how to hide the scrolling UI when overflow:auto would not have been triggered by the CMS content. The divs have set heights and widths. Can i detect hidden content? Or measure the div contents' height? Any ideas? TIA JG

  • iframe.document.body.scrollHeight is double the correct value

    - by Dean J
    <iframe name="asdf" id="asdf" onload="change_height(this)" src="asdf.jsp" width="250" scrolling="no" frameborder="0"></iframe> function change_height(iframe) { if (document.all) { // IE. ieheight = iframe.document.body.scrollHeight; iframe.style.height = ieheight; } else { // Firefox. ffheight= iframe.contentDocument.body.offsetHeight; iframe.style.height = ffheight+ 'px'; } } ieheight is twice the actual height when this runs in IE7; haven't tested on IE6. It's the same value if I use scrollHeight or offsetHeight. It's the correct height in Firefox. Before I patch this by just dividing the IE value /2, what's the right way to do this?

  • twitter bootstrap typeahead (method 'toLowerCase' of undefined)

    - by mmoscosa
I am trying to use twitter bootstrap to get the manufacturers from my DB. Because twitter bootstrap typeahead does not support ajax calls I am using this fork: https://gist.github.com/1866577 In that page there is this comment that mentions how to do exactly what I want to do. The problem is when I run my code I keep on getting: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toLowerCase' of undefined I googled around and came tried changing my jquery file to both using the minified and non minified as well as the one hosted on google code and I kept getting the same error. My code currently is as follows: $('#manufacturer').typeahead({ source: function(typeahead, query){ $.ajax({ url: window.location.origin+"/bows/get_manufacturers.json", type: "POST", data: "", dataType: "JSON", async: false, success: function(results){ var manufacturers = new Array; $.map(results.data.manufacturers, function(data, item){ var group; group = { manufacturer_id: data.Manufacturer.id, manufacturer: data.Manufacturer.manufacturer }; manufacturers.push(group); }); typeahead.process(manufacturers); } }); }, property: 'name', items:11, onselect: function (obj) { } }); on the url field I added the window.location.origin to avoid any problems as already discussed on another question Also before I was using $.each() and then decided to use $.map() as recomended Tomislav Markovski in a similar question Anyone has any idea why I keep getting this problem?! Thank you

  • JS: I'm not getting the scope

    - by Manuel
Hi there, I'm trying to modify CouchDB's JS API to work asynchronous, but there is an error I cannot solve: Please find my JS API find at pastebin. If I call (new CouchDB("dbname")).designDocs() (line 193) I get an error because the okCallback function is not defined in the callback function. I don't know why; it should be defined in this scope.. Any hints are very welcome! Cheers, Manuel

  • How to create a jpeg using set of div with backgrounds - PHP/jQuery

    - by Dasun
The final output of the image looks like this below. If you look into html parts, It's create using different divs as below. All the div are placed one on one using CSS and making the position to absolute. <div id="tproduct" class="timage" style="z-index: 30; background-image: url('main-mask.png') ;"></div> <div id="tdesign1" class="timage" style="z-index: 20; background-image: url('design1.png');"></div> <div id="tdesign2" class="timage" style="z-index: 20; background-image: url('design2.png');"></div> <div id="tmaincolor" class="timage" style="background-color:blue;"></div> <div id="tembellishment" class="timage" style="z-index: 10; background-image: url('flower.png');"></div> If we look at separately it will look like this below. etc My question is how can I create a single image using above set of divs and images? • jQuery offset() not working in some browsers, on some computers

    - by Peter Di Cecco
I have a problem positioning an element in certain browsers. I'm using the jQuery autocomplete found here. The div containing autocomplete values should be directly under the text box, and line up perfectly. The code sets the css left property of the div by using the left property generated by $(textbox).offset(); After un-packing the code to try and fix my problem, I get this: var a = $(textbox).offset(); element.css({ width: typeof e.width == "string" || e.width > 0 ? e.width : $(textbox).width(), top: a.top + textbox.offsetHeight, left: a.left }).show(); This seems like it should work, and it does work in Firefox. It doesn't work in IE8, Chrome. The top position is always correct, but the sometimes the div is too far to the left, or too far to the right. On different computers (all with Windows XP), it works in IE8... how can this be? I've also tested it on my Mac, OS 10.5. It works in Firefox, but not Safari. I've disabled plug-ins, changed screen resolutions, re-sized windows... It just inconsistently works in some places sometimes. Can anyone think of something I'm missing?

  • jQuery Address changed event

    - by Dustin
I'm trying my hand at jQuery Address http://www.asual.com/jquery/address/ On a click event I set $.address.value(mypath); This fires off the $.address.change() event. When I click a link I want the behavior to be slightly different than when this event is fired by clicking the back/forward button or with a bookmark or link. Is there a way to distinguish between the two events. I've looked at the event object passed to $.address.change() and they seem to be identical in both situations.
