• BufferedInputStream.read(byte[]) Causes problems. Anyone have this problem before?

  Hello! I've written a Java program that downloads audio files for me and I'm using BufferedInputStream. The read() function works fine but is really slow so I've tried using the overloaded version using byte[]. For some reason, the audio becomes lossy and strange after download. I'm not totally sure what I'm doing wrong so any help is appreciated! Here's the simplified, sloppy version of the code. • PHP $_REQUEST doesn't contain all $_GET varaibles

  Until today I thought that $_REQUEST always contains all variables form $_POST and $_GET. But today I had the strange experience that one variable is part of $_GET but not part of $_REQUEST. I played a little bit around with the URL which hands over the parameters and it seems like always the fist parameter is missing in the $_REQUEST array. Do you have any idea why this could happen? • UIAlertView popups lock up keyboard actions

  I have a strange behavior where if a UIAlert fires (like the one below) all subsequent keyboard or press behaviors are disabled / non responsive. Scrolling the screen still works but no action is fired from any button or keyboard presses. • equivalent to getch(), mac/linux crash

  Hey guys. So I am using getch() and my app crashes instantly. Including when doing: int main() { getch(); } I can't find the link but supposedly the problem is, it needs to turn off buffering or something strange along those lines and I still want cout to work along with cross platform code. I was told to use std::cin.get(), but I'd like the app to quit when a key is pressed, not when the user typed in a letter or number then press enter to quit. Is there any function for this? The code must work under Mac (my os) and Windows.

• Button top increase with multiple lines

  Some very very strange behaviour was appearing in my Android application. I was extending Button to replace the standard. In my own button I set: - TextAppearence (text 16px, bold..) - BackgroundDrawable (to an selector that replaced the standard button, that used images of 60px) - Gravity: LEFT|CENTER_VERTICAL. Whenever the text was enough to make the button have 2 text lines, if it had the property Gravity.CENTER_VERTICAL, a top padding would appear! This kept me overflowing and googling for weeks... (set paddingTop, singleLine, and other simple solutions didn't work of course!) Finally got the solution!!! @Override protected boolean setFrame(int l, int t, int r, int b) { int fixedTopSize = 5; return super.setFrame(l,fixedTopSize, r, b-t); } By overriding this method on the extended Button finally i got it to work without the irritating top padding... still i don't understand why this happens. Any ideia?

• Why is Windows Update trying to install an update I don't need?

  I have a Windows 7 system that currently has a single update pending: Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems If I try to install the update, Windows Update will: Create a restore point Fail with the error: Code 9C48 Windows Update encountered an error. The event log for the event reads: Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems. If you search the web for that error, there are many other people with the exact same issue. Sadly, I am unable to apply the proposed solutions to my case, because I just installed this system. There is nothing on it, except Windows 7. I installed the system and ran through the updates. I also did the exact same process with this machine several times over the past few days due to a long-term test we just started. I didn't have any problems with any Windows Update on the previous installation runs and I know I didn't do anything different this time because I followed the installation procedures instructions which are to be used during the test. How did this happen and how do I solve it? Further Investigation So, as I always like to do, I ran the update again while running Process Monitor and dug up further details. WindowsUpdate.log First of all, there is a Windows Update log file located at C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log which I didn't know about. But whenever I bring up the soft-keyboard the button will be displayed above the keyboard. This is not what I want but it should become covered by the keyboard.   Right now I have a RadToolTip inside of a RadGrid. The RadGrid displays a field from the datasource called "Value". The RadToolTip displays the same thing. I want to add another RadGrid inside of the RadToolTip. The function setting up the datasource of that second RadGrid should take "Value" as a parameter? How do I do that?   I have a non-A2DP single ear BT headset (Plantronics 510) and would like to use it with my Android HTC Magic to listen to low quality audio like podcasts/audio books. After much googling I found that only phone call audio can be routed to the non-A2DP BT headsets. (I would like to know if you have found a ready solution to route all kinds of audio to non-A2DP BT headsets) So I figured, somehow programmatically I can channel the audio to the stream that carries phone call audio. This way I will fool the phone to carry my mp3 audio to my BT headset. If I remove the AudioManager calls in the above code, the audio plays from speaker and if I replace them as shown above then the audio stops coming from speakers, but it doesn't come through the BT headset. So this might be a partial success. I have checked that the BT headset works alright with phone calls. There must be a reason for Android not supporting this. But I can't let go of the feeling that it is not possible to programmatically reroute the audio. Any ideas? P.S. above code needs following permission <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS"/>

Most everything is working correctly, except when I try to set this option: 'watch: { options: {livereload:true},' If I add that, the terminal states: 'Fatal error: listen EACCES' I'm guessing I need to use the sudo command to run that and since c9 doesn't let you run sudo, the command fails. But why is livereload a feature that requires permission? And is there any way around it?

  I found one issue with InternalsVisibleTo attribute usage. The idea of InternalsVisibleTo attribute to allow some other assemblies to use internal classes\methods of this assembly. To make it work you need sign your assemblies. So, if other assemblies isn't specified in main assembly and if they have incorrect public key, then they can't use Internal members. But the issue in Reflection Emit type generation. For example, we have CorpLibrary1 assembly and it has such class: public class TestApi { internal virtual void DoSomething() { Console.WriteLine("Base DoSomething"); } public void DoApiTest() { // some internal logic // ... // call internal method DoSomething(); } } This assembly is marked with such attribute to allow another CorpLibrary2 to make inheritor for that TestAPI and override behaviour of DoSomething method. My steps to do it: Generate new assembly in runtime via AssemblyBuilder Get AssemblyName from CorpLibrary1 and copy PublikKey to new assembly Generate new assembly that will inherit TestApi class As PublicKey and name of generated assembly is the same as in InternalsVisibleTo, then we can generate new DoSomething method that will override internal method in TestAPI assembly Then we have another assembly that isn't related to this CorpLibrary1 and can't use internal members. Just for testing I stored it in Thread NamedDataSlot. It won't work in multithreaded applications, but it's just a sample. I know that we use Reflection to get private\internal members of any class, but within reflection we can't override them. But this issue is allows anyone to override internal class\method if that assembly has InternalsVisibleTo attribute. I tested it on .Net 3.5\4 and it works for both of them. How does it possible to just copy PublicKey without private key and use it in runtime?   I am having following problem with the location service with IOS on the simulator: using phonegap 2.2.0 with xcode 4.5.2, Cordova.plist EnableLocation = YES navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(myPositionSuccess, myPositionError, {maximumAge: 300000, timeout:10000, enableHighAccuracy : true}); myPositionSuccess is never called, with following error at navigator.geolocation locationManager::didFailWithError (null) I just tried it on the simulator. Any Idea?

  Hi. I am currently integrating a payment gateway into an application. Following a successful transaction the remote payment gateway posts details of the transaction back to my application (ITN). It posts to a HttpHandler that is used to read and validate the data. Part of the validation performed is a POST made by the handler to a validation service provided by the payment gateway. This effectively posts some of the original form values received back to the payment gateway to ensure they are valid. • Django flatpages raising 404 when DEBUG is False (404 and 500 templates exist)

  I'm using Django 1.1.1 stable. When DEBUG is set to True Django flatpages works correctly; when DEBUG is False every flatpage I try to access raises a custom 404 error (my error template is obviously working correctly). Searching around on the internet suggests creating 404 and 500 templates which I have done. I've added to FlatpageFallBackMiddleware to middleware_classes and flatpages is added to installed applications. Any ideas how I can make flatpages work?

  Hi, I have a WCF Service with the following requirements: a) The client requests a file from the server which is transferred as a Stream. Files may be 100MB or larger. I need streaming or chucking or whatever to make sure that IIS is not loading the whole package into memory before starting to send it. b) The client will transfer an ID to identify the file to be downloaded. The user should be authenticated by providing username/password. c) While the username/password part of the communication needs to be encrypted, encryption of the downloaded file is optional for our use case. My other services, where I am returning smaller files, I am using the following binding: <ws2007HttpBinding> <binding name="ws2007HttpExtern" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536000"> <security mode="Message"> <message clientCredentialType="UserName" /> </security> </binding> </ws2007HttpBinding> But, as I said, that is no good for streaming (Message encryption needs the complete message to encrypt and that is not the case when streaming). • Silverlight animation not smooth

  Hi, When trying to animate objects time/frame based in Silverlight (in contrast to using something like DoubleAnimation or Storyboard, which is not suitable e.g. for fast paced games), for example moving a spaceship in a particular direction every frame, the movement is jumpy and not really smooth. The screen even seems to tear. There seems to be no difference between CompositionTarget and DistpatcherTimer. I use the following approach (in pseudocode): Register Handler to Tick-Event of a DispatcherTimer In each Tick: Compute the elapsed time from the last frame in milliseconds Object.X += movementSpeed * ellapsedMilliseconds This should result in a smooth movement, right? But it doesn't. Here is an example (Controls: WASD and Mouse): Silverlight Game. Although the effect I described is not too prevalent in this sample, I can assure you that even moving a single rectangle over a canvas produces a jumpy animation. Does someone have an idea how to minimize this. Are there other approaches to to frame based animation exept using Storyboards/DoubleAnimations which could solve this?
