• How to overcome politics of the net (Google translate code refuses to work from a specific region)

  According to the FAQ's I am not sure if my question is a ok to ask or will be closed or should I post it in the meta or even I would blame some one for downvoting it. However it is one that has been bugging me since the trouble strated. Let me explain. I have this Web Site. On the site you can see that I had to actually remove the above from here, here, and here while left it here, here, here and here. This is so because the the web site "refuses" to load at all with the pages that have the code (i.e., from this region.) If I use Firefox Stealthy Plugin and open the site in Firefox, It works like a charm without any problems. But with Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Opera Web browser, the site does not load/open at all because of the Google translate. (I know this because If I remove the Google Translate Code, the site works/loads fine) It was one thing to program for "cross browser compatability" and alltogether another to program for "cross region compatability". What can I do to make sure that the site works from anywhere? Do I completely remove the Google Translate code and just have to do without the additional functionality or Do I look for alternatives like this or according to this?

  I am working on a game, in which you can create mazes. You place blocks on a 16x16 grid, while choosing from a variety of block to make the level with. I tried shelving it to a .bin file, but it returns some error dealing with surfaces. How can I go about saving and loading levels? • Working with Reporting Services Filters–Part 5: OR Logic

  When you combine multiple filters, Reporting Services uses AND logic. Once upon a time, there was actually a drop-down list for selecting AND or OR between filters which was very confusing to people because often it was grayed out. Now that selection is gone, but no matter. It wouldn’t help us solve the problem that I want to describe today. As with many problems, Reporting Services gives us more than one way to apply OR logic in a filter. If I want a filter to include this value OR that value for the same field, one approach is to set up the filter is to use the IN operator as I explained in Part 1 of this series. But what if I want to base the filter on two different fields? I  need a different solution. Using the AdventureWorksDW2008R2 database, I have a report that lists product sales: Let’s say that I want to filter this report to show only products that are Bikes (a category) OR products for which sales were greater than $1,000 in a year. If I set up the filter like this: Expression Data Type Operator Value [Category] Text = Bikes [SalesAmount]   > 1000 Then AND logic is used which means that both conditions must be true. That’s not the result I want. Instead, I need to set up the filter like this: Expression Data Type Operator Value =Fields!EnglishProductCategoryName.Value = "Bikes" OR Fields!SalesAmount.Value > 1000 Boolean = =True The OR logic needs to be part of the expression so that it can return a Boolean value that we test against the Value. Notice that I have used =True rather than True for the value. The filtered report appears below. Any non-bike product appears only if the total sales exceed $1,000, whereas Bikes appear regardless of sales. (You can’t see it in this screenshot, but Mountain-400-W Silver, 38 has sales of $923 in 2007 but gets included because it is in the Bikes category.)

• One of the partion on a usb harddisk cannot automount

  It is a very strange problem. My usb harddisk has four partitions, one is primary, the other three are logical (contained within an extended partition). When I plug in the disk, three of the partitions are mounted automatically except one--the first logical partition in the extended partition. Initially I thought it is the problem of system (at that time I used Mint). But after I change to Ubuntu 12.04, the problem wasn't solved. I don't want to add a rule in fstab, and I want to know what happened. • How does a game developer get feedback from gamers (not developers) or start a forum community without paying for advertising or hiring Q&A teams?

  I am familiar with a lot of game developer forums, but I'd assume this is much less likely to attract more casual commentators. I also fear that feedback from a gamer's perspective would often be tainted by their game dev perspective. For example, if I were making a RTS game and wanted to get feedback from "The RTS gamers" where would I go? Is there a general idea of what type of website or forum to go to? Do you go to specific game websites, to try to "steal" attention? Would this not equate to spam or inappropriate posting? What is considered appropriate and inappropriate? I am not asking for specifics. I am asking how one "starts a community", or how one "gets feedback from gamers" without resorting to spamming forums or 'advertising' just to see what sticks. What TYPE OF PLACE does one go? Are there already sites designed for this purpose? I tried going to what was once a very popular forum for feedback from what I believed was a niche hardcore group of gamers in the genre, but its popularity seemed to have died significantly; Leaving only trolls and very young teenagers. The resulting feedback was quite disappointing, mainly for how little feedback it resulted. Many years ago, feedback would flood in by the hundreds so quickly. Without this website, I am at a loss as to where to go to see what people think of ideas, gather feedback from a gamer's perspective (not a developer's perspective), or where to pull from to start my own site's forum. I am out of ideas of what to do, short of going to various game forums to post in the off-topic sections there.

• Limitations of the SharePoint join using CAML

  Limitation One In SharePoint 2010, you can join the primary list to a foreign list and include more than one field from the foreign list. However, the limitation is that the included fields from foreign list have to be the following type: Calculated (treated as plain text) ContentTypeId Counter Currency DateTime Guid Integer Note (one-line only) Number Text The above limitation also explains why you cannot include some types of the fields from the remote list when creating a lookup. Limitation Two When using CAML query to join SharePoint lists, there can be joins to multiple lists, multiple joins to the same list, and chains of joins. However, the limitations are only inner and left outer joins are permitted and the field in the primary list must be a Lookup type field that looks up to the field in the foreign list. Limitation Three The support for writing the JOIN query in CAML is very limited.I have to hand-code the CAML query to join the lists,not fun at all.Although some blogs post mentioned about using LINQ to SharePoint and get the CAML code from there , but I never get it to work.You can check this blog post  for this.Let me know if it works for you. • QapTcha error issue. Works locally, not on live server [migrated]

  I am adding QapTcha (http://demos.myjqueryplugins.com/qaptcha/) to a website that I am working on and I'm getting the error "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'error' of null". What's weird to me is everything is working perfectly locally. No errors or anything. Once I uploaded via ftp to the live server, I get the above error. • Sharing an internet connection through the Ethernet port

  I have a small living room PC (Bohica, running fully-updated Ubuntu 10.10/Maverick) connected to my HDTV that I use for web browsing and media streaming. It connects via WiFi (wlan0) to my Fedora server (Snafu) that in turn connects to the internet. I use static addressing, and everything has been working fine. I just got a Blu-ray player, and I'd like to give it wired network access to the internet via Bohica's available wired ethernet port (eth0). So far, I haven't been to get eth0 and the network configured to get the Blu-ray player talking to the internet. Here's my wlan0 configuration: ip4 addr: 192.168.0.100 mask: /24 (255.255.255.0) gateway: 192.168.0.4 (fedora box) The Blu-ray player is set to an IP of 192.168.0.98/24, with the same gateway as above. I want eth0 set to an IP of 192.168.0.99/24, but when I do this using nm-connection-editor I lose internet access (the system tries to use eth0 as the default internet access interface). How do I get my blu-ray player to talk to the internet through Bohica, and do so without disrupting my current (working) network? Thanks. I have "solved" that issue, for the time being anyway, by loading alternative lighter weight desktops. This question was opened specifically to question the meaning of the documentation at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver . END OF UPDATE There it is, in Black and White: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver Fully Supported All these Radeon(HD) cards and derivatives have good 3D acceleration support. This is not an exhaustive list: ... RV610/RV630 Radeon HD 2400/2600/2700/4200/4225/4250 Yet in my case (the HD2400) this proves to be manifestly untrue, at least if "Fully Supported" means sufficient to run Unity in Ubuntu 13.04. It runs all the applications I can launch under Unity, but Unity itself is unbearably slow. It's quite striking really. Click on the "Dash" - go get a cup of coffee. Type a key in the Unity search box, wait five seconds for it to appear. Type Alt-tab and wait five seconds for the screen to finish painting. None of these issues appear outside of Unity components. As you all know, there are complaints about slow performance all over the Internet about Unity. Shouldn't this page somehow address this issue? Especially if "fully supported" doesn't mean sufficiently to run the default modern Ubuntu release. What does "fully supported" mean?

• How do you manage a complexity jump?

  It seems an infrequent but common experience that sometimes you're working on a project and suddenly something turns up unexpectedly, throws a massive spanner in the works and ramps up the complexity a whole lot. For example, I was working on an application that talked to SOAP services on various other machines. I whipped up a prototype that worked fine, then went on to develop a regular front end and generally get everything up and running in a nice, fairly simple and easy to follow fashion. It worked great until we started testing across a wider network and suddenly pages started timing out as the latency of the connections and the time required to perform calculations on remote machines resulted in timed out requests to the soap services. It turned out that we needed to change the architecture to spin requests out onto their own threads and cache the returned data so it could be updated progressively in the background rather than performing calculations on a request by request basis. The details of that scenario are not too important - indeed it's not a great example as it was quite forseeable and people who have written a lot of apps of this type for this type of environment might have anticipated it - except that it illustrates a way that one can start with a simple premise and model and suddenly have an escalation of complexity well into the development of the project. What strategies do you have for dealing with these types of functional changes whose need arises - often as a result of environmental factors rather than specification change - later on in the development process or as a result of testing? How do you balance between avoiding the premature optimisation/ YAGNI/ overengineering risks of designing a solution that mitigates against possible but not necessarily probable issues as opposed to developing a simpler and easier solution that is likely to be as effective but doesn't incorporate preparedness for every possible eventuality?

• MySQL - Configuration

  Having previously detailed how to install MySQL Server, the next step is configuring MySQL. The MySQL configuration wizard can either be run immediately following installation from the MySQL installation wizard or manually from the Start Menu. Following the splash screen you can then choose whether to run a detailed or standard configuration. The detailed configuration allows you to create the optimal configuration for your specific machine, whereas the standard configuration creates a general configuration that can then be manually tuned. I chose detailed.   You are then asked to choose the type of server instance that is being configured. In this case it is a developer machine. Following this you are asked to choose the type of database usage that you expect on the server. I opted for multifunctional. You must then specify the location of the InnoDB tablespace.   Next specify the number of concurent connections to the server.   Now you must configure the networking options. I left the Strict mode enabled as this is the recommended option, but I disabled TCP/IP networking as I wanted to restrict this MySQL installation to the local machine only.   Set the character set that is best suited to your use - for me this was the default standard character set. Next up is the option to run MySQL as a service and whether or not to include the mysql dircetories in the windows PATH. I kept the install as a windows service option enabled, but unchecked the Launch MySQL server automatically option. This is because I only wanted MySQL running when I specifically want to use it. I also enabled the include in windows PATH option.   You can then change the security settings for the mysql installation. I opted to change the root password, disable root from local machines and disable annoymous access.   You are now ready to execute the configuration.   Once completed you should hopefully see the completed screen with lots of nice ticks against the various configuration tasks.

• Should I stay in my degree or take an opportunity for management experience?

  I've read a couple other post along these lines and they've been helpful but I'm wondering if my case is any different. I've been working towards my CS degree while working part time in a programming job. I'm now about two years away from getting my degree and was just offered a management position at my job. This would mean that I have to work full-time at my job and I can't really work towards my degree anymore in person. My school doesn't really offer CS classes after hours nor online. It seems that getting a degree is very important from the other post that I read. Does having management experience trump that? I'm currently leaning towards taking the job and finding some sort of online degree. Also my school only offers a business degree online, could I just get this in place. Does the type of degree really matter? For some jobs it's not the type of degree just that you have one, is there any merit for this in the programming industry? Thanks :)

But with Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Opera Web browser, the site does not load/open at all because of the Google translate. (I know this because If I remove the Google Translate Code, the site works/loads fine) It was one thing to program for "cross browser compatability" and alltogether another to program for "cross region compatability". What can I do to make sure that the site works from anywhere? Do I completely remove the Google Translate code and just have to do without the additional functionality or Do I look for alternatives like this or according to this?

• Installing Ubuntu along with windows 7 on shrunk partition

  I am new to Ubuntu OS and ask Ubuntu community. First this is not a duplicate question. Actually this a question which is a summery of all solutions and questions were posted in this community, related to Install Ubuntu along with Windows 7. I have bought a new Hp laptop with its original windows 7.I want to install Ubuntu along with windows 7 64 bit. I ran the Ubuntu 12.4 Desktop installation CD. But Ubuntu installer doesn't show the "along with windows 7 option"only it is showing two options. I read some questions and answers posted on this community. Specially following link Ubuntu 12.04 does not see windows already install on my computer (dual installation) I tried following thinks, I ran the terminal in live CD and tried sudo dmraid -rE command and dmraid remove command .But terminals says there is no dmraid partitions. So I tried another scenario checked my partitions with g parted.There are some partitions labeled C,HP tools,Recovery and System. C is containing windows 7 Files. So I shrank the volume of C Drive. Now I have 50000Mb of unallocated disk. I tried with Gparted to create a partition on that allocated space.It says some thing that you can't create more than four primary partition.Of course all other four partitions were created on widows are actually type of primary partition. So I went back to Windows 7 and tried to create a new volume on unallocated space.But unfortunately it says,If i create a new volume it will be the type of Dynamic partition.It says we cant boot another OS from that partition. So i cancelled that step. Now i have 50000Mb unallocated space but how can i install Ubuntu on that partition without harming the existing Windows 7? Because still I have only two options: Erase and install Ubuntu. Try something else. (I can see my unallocated space by going to "something else" option.)

• If a library doesn't provide all my needs, how should I proceed?

  I'm developing an application involving math and physics models, and I'd like to use a Math library for things like Matrices. I'm using C#, and so I was looking for some libraries and found Math.NET. I'm under the impression, from past experience, that for math, using a robust and industry-approved third party library is much better than writing your own code. It seems good for many purposes, but it does not provide support for Quaternions, which I need to use as a type. Also, I need some functions in Vector and Matrix that also aren't provided, such as rotation matrices and vector rotation functions, and calculating cross products. At the same time, it provides a lot of functions/classes that I simply do not need, which might mean a lot of unnecessary bloat and complexity. At this rate, should I even bother using the library? Should I write my own math library? Or is it a better idea to stick to the third party library and somehow wrap around it? Perhaps I should make a subclass of the Matrix and Vector type of the library? But isn't that considered bad style? I've also tried looking for other libraries but unfortunately I couldn't find anything suitable.

The second major enhancement is the introduction of ListViewPanelItem. The ListViewPanelItem behaves exactly the same as it‘s predecessor, the ListViewItem, and in additon it has a Panel Control attached to it, seperate panel for each row in the ListView.   Hi, I am trying to design a database schema for a web app which has 3 subdomains: a) internal employees b) clients c) contractors. The users will be able to communicate with each other to some degree, and there may be some resources that overlap between them. Any thoughts about this schema? • Unwanted Chinese language got set in system settings

  I was discussing on the Ubuntu users list how to type in in Hindi (Indic language) in Libre Office and about a package installation problem. I have made some changes in system settings, following suggestions by some users. However, this morning when I did a reboot I am unable to see English as my default language. My system is showing some Chinese characters which I do not understand. All I wanted was to use Libre Office for a particular document in Hindi. What happened is that even Gmail is opening in Chinese. The system settings folder and others are also opening in Chinese. I am unable to use the system now. I have uploaded the snapshots here: please have a look. Upon a reboot, I was asked to rename all folders. Gmail opening in Chinese This is how menu on my system looks: half English and half Chinese Notice that in the third snapshot the calendar and menu are appearing in Chinese. I want the original US English menus and folder names back. I just wanted to type a document with Lohit Hindi font in Libre Office. I use Ubuntu 11.10. I do not use Unity, only Gnome desktop. I installed gnome-session-fallback a long time back and have been using that ever since. How do I get back to all English submenus and English folder names? I have a US English Keyboard and I use only US English. This thing which is now somehow set is unwanted.
