• How to configure SoapUI with client certificate authentication

  SoapUI is one of the best free tools around to test web services. Some time ago I was trying to send a soap message towards a SSL web service that was set up for client certificate authentication. I pretty soon got stuck at the “javax.net.ssl.SSLException: HelloRequest followed by an unexpected handshake message” error, but after reading several posts on the internet I solved that issue. It’s not really that complicated after all, but since I could not find a decent place on the internet that explains this scenario in a proper way, here’s a list of steps that you need to do to make it work. Note: this following steps are based on a Windows environment   Step one: Export your certificate (the one that you want to use as the client certificate) using the export wizard with the private key and with all certificates in the certification path: Give it a password (anything you want): And export it as a PFX file to a location somewhere on disk: Step two: Install the newest version of SOAP UI (currently it is 3.6.1) Open the file C:\Program Files\eviware\soapUI-3.6.1\bin\ soapUI-3.6.1.vmoptions and add this line at the bottom: -Dsun.security.ssl.allowUnsafeRenegotiation=true This is needed because of a JAVA security feature in their newest frameworks (For further reading about this issue, read this: http://www.soapui.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4089 and this: http://java.sun.com/javase/javaseforbusiness/docs/TLSReadme.html).   Open SOAPUI and go to preferences>SSL Settings and configure your certificate in the keystore (use the same password as in step one): That should be it. Just create a new project and import the WSDL from the client authenticated SSL webservice: And now you should be able to send soap messages with client certificate authentication. The above steps worked for me, but please drop a note if it does not work for you.

  Quick question about how to get weather alerts with conky. I'm using the following bit of code: ${execpi 3600 ~/.conky/scripts/conky-rss.sh "http://www.weather.gov/alerts/wwarssget.php?zone=MDZ006"|sed '1,3d'|fold -sw 62} This (correctly) display a message to the effect "There are no weather alerts for ...." when there are no weather alerts. However, when there is an alert, it simply displays a message like "Short-term forecast for ..." with no further information. Any suggestions? How are other people getting weather alert info in their conkys?

• 2D Side Scrolling game and "walk over ground" collision detection

  The question is not hard, I'm writing a game engine for 2D side scrolling games, however I'm thinking to my 2D side scrolling game and I always come up with the problem of "how should I do collision with the ground". I think I couldn't handle the collision with ground (ground for me is "where the player walk", so something heavily used) in a per-pixel way, and I can't even do it with simple shape comparison (because the ground can be tilted), so what's the correct way? I'know what tiles are and i've read about it, but how much should be big each tile to not appear like a stairs?Are there any other approach? I watched this game and is very nice how he walks on ground: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmSAQwbbig8&feature=player_embedded If there are "platforms" in mid air, how should I handle them?I can walk over them but I can't pass "inside". Imagine a platform in mid air, it allows you to walk over it but limit you because you can't jump in the area she fits Sorry for my english, it's not my native language and this topic has a lot of keywords I don't know so I have to use workarounds Thanks for any answer Additional informations and suggestions: I'm doing a game course in this period and I asked them how to do this, they suggested me this approach (a QuadTree): -All map is divided into "big nodes" -Each bigger node has sub nodes, to find where the player is -You can find player's node with a ray on player position -When you find the node where the player is, you can do collision check through all pixels (which can be 100-200px nothing more) Here is an example, however i didn't show very well the bigger nodes because i'm not very good with photoshop :P How is this approach?

  I'm having a complete 'mare of a time trying to use my schools Digital Blue cameras. We've got the model 3 ones, but can't find the driver disc and using the Windows Hardware Installation Wizard gets me no where! Can you help me to find the driver? When I've used it at my old school it had a piece of software called the Digital Movie Creator, which I've heard you can use to make stop-motion films, which is what I want to do! • Apache Options -Indexes give me 404 instead of 403, why?

  I have an Apache/2.2.21 (Debian) webserver, which I disabled directory listing with Options -Indexes but now I got 404 error for a directory, but I think I should get a 403. I have no idea why I get 404, rather than 403. What should I check? I have disabled autoindex module, after it I got a 404 for every URL that request a directory listing (eg: www.somesite.com/dir ). How can I get a 403 for this. (The dir does exist) As a try I also put Options -Index in the end of main config file (apache2.conf).

• Planning for the Recovery

  As we plan for 2011, there are many positive signs in the global economy, but also some lingering issues. Planning no longer is about extrapolating past performance and adjusting for growth. It is now about constantly testing the temperature of the water, formulating scenarios, assessing risk and assigning probabilities.  So how does one plan for recovery and improve forecast accuracy in such a volatile environment?  Here are some suggestions from a recent article I wrote, which was published in the December Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) newsletter from the AFP (Association of Financial Professionals): Increase the frequency of forecasting Get more line managers involved in the planning and forecasting process Re-consider what's being measured - i.e. key financial and operational metrics Incorporate risk and probability into forecasts Reduce reliance on spreadsheets - leverage packaged EPM applications To learn more about these best practices, check out the FP&A section of the AFP website and register to receive the FP&A newsletter.  AFP recently launched a new topic area focused on the FP&A function and items of interest to this group of finance professionals.  In addition to the FP&A quarterly newsletter, AFP will be publishing articles, running webinars and will have an FP&A track in their annual conference, which is in Boston next November.  Brian Kalish, AFP's Finance Lead, is hoping this initiative creates a valuable networking and information-sharing resource for FP&A professionals. • Ubuntu Upstart script hangs on start and stop

  I have an upstart script that will start a custom jetty server. When I do sudo start [myservice] nothing happens. Subsequently, sudo status [myservice] show it as: [myservice] start/killed, process 3586. Here's the script in /etc/init/[myservice].conf: description "[description]" author "[my name and email]" start on runlevel [2345] stop on runlevel [016] respawn expect fork script sudo -u www-data /path/to/grafserv-start.sh >> /tmp/upstart.log 2>&1 end-script And here is grafserv-start.sh: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/java -Djetty.port=3070 -jar /path/to/grafserv/trunk/start.jar echo "Done starting GrafServ" I've tried redirecting the output of the script command to a tmp logfile, but that file is never created. When I start it, I just get a hang, until I ^C. Also, I tried running it with strace but that gave me a lot of stuff about sockets.

• Does JAXP natively parse HTML?

  So, I whip up a quick test case in Java 7 to grab a couple of elements from random URIs, and see if the built-in parsing stuff will do what I need. Here's the basic setup (with exception handling etc omitted): DocumentBuilderFactory dbfac = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder dbuild = dbfac.newDocumentBuilder(); Document doc = dbuild.parse("uri-goes-here"); With no error handler installed, the parse method throws exceptions on fatal parse errors. When getting the standard Apache 2.2 directory index page from a local server: a SAXParseException with the message White spaces are required between publicId and systemId. The doctype looks ok to me, whitespace and all. When getting a page off a Drupal 7 generated site, it never finishes. The parse method seems to hang. No exceptions thrown, never returns. When getting http://www.oracle.com, a SAXParseException with the message The element type "meta" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</meta>". So it would appear that the default setup I've used here doesn't handle HTML, only strictly written XML. My question is: can JAXP be used out-of-the-box from openJDK 7 to parse HTML from the wild (without insane gesticulations), or am I better off looking for an HTML 5 parser? PS this is for something I may not open-source, so licensing is also an issue :(

• How to use NTFS-3G installed using MacPort?

  After upgrading to Lion I'm having problem mounting NTFS drives in read/write mode. This is because NTFS-3G distributed by http://www.tuxera.com does not work with Lion. As far their suggestion I installed NTFS-3G using MacPort. But as far as I can see it does not come with the usual preference pane. Its not enabled by default. Do anyone know how to enable it? Or how to have the Preference Pane for the NTFS-3G from MacPorts.

  Hello I didn't find the answer in Clonezilla's site/mailing list archives. Maybe someone has already seen this issue and knows how to recover from it: On a test host, using www.partedmagic.com, I created two partitions: One to hold an OS I wish to use for testing (/sda1), and a second partition to hold images (/sda2) After trying out Windows7, I used CloneZilla to restore an XPSP3 image, but I get the following error message when rebooting: "Reboot and select proper boot device" Could it be that Clonezilla didn't save/restore the MBR? Gparted didn't let me set a partition as "active", so it could also be this, but I have no idea. Thank you for any help.

• Securing ClickOnce hosted with Amazon S3 Storage

  Well, since my post on hosting ClickOnce with Amazon S3 Storage, I've received quite a few emails asking how to secure the deployment. At the time of this post I regret to say that there is no way to secure your ClickOnce deployment hosted with Amazon S3. The S3 storage is secured by ACL meaning that a username and password will have to be provided before access. The Amazon CloudFront, which sits on top of S3, allows you to apply security settings to your CloudFront distribution by Applying an encryption to the URL. Restricting by IP. The problem with the CloudFront is that the encryption of the URL is mandatory. ClickOnce does not provide a way to pass the "Amazon Public Key" to the CloudFront URL (you probably can if you start editing the XML and HTML files ClickOnce generate but that defeats the porpose of ClickOnce all together). What would be nice is if Amazon can allow users to restrict by IP addresses or IP Blocks. I'd sent them an email and received a response that this is something they are looking into...I won't hold my breadth though. Alternative I suggest you look at Rack Space Cloud hosting http://www.rackspacecloud.com they have very competitive pricing and recently started hosting Windows Virtual Servers. What you can do is rent a virtual server, setup IIS to host your ClickOnce applications. You can then use IIS security setting to restrict what IP/Blocks can access your ClickOnce payloads. Note: You don't really need Windows Server to host ClickOnce. Any web server can do. If you are familiar with Linux you can run that VM with rackspace for half the price of Windows. • Solaris Administration Web GUI?

  I recently installed Solaris 11 x86 text install (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/solaris11/downloads/index.html?ssSourceSiteId=ocomen) to be used as a file server running ZFS. I noticed that I'm given the bare minimum in terms of packages. Is there an official oracle web GUI for managing ZFS? I ran a netstat and it doesn't appear to have installed any webserver thats listening. I saw something from a couple years ago, but apparently it's not packaged or maintained anymore (https://blogs.oracle.com/talley/entry/manage_zfs_from_your_browser). I tried pkg install network-console, but it says that the package isn't available for my platform. Any ideas? I'd like to stick with Oracle Solaris instead of the open source alternatives, if possible.

This is not on a single computer this happens on systems isolated from each other(Try it, avast blocks it) . The site is runing joomla 1.5.25 . I deleted .htacces, put fresh index.php and index2.php files. and still get the same results. Any ideas?

When I type: dir *number* (where number represents any number from 0 to 9 and with no spaces between the asterisks and the number) at the cmd.exe command prompt, it returns various files do not appear in any to fit the search criteria. What's weird, is that depending on the directory, some numbers will work and not others. An example is, in a directory associated with a website, I type the following: dir *4* and what is returned is: Directory of C:\Ampps\www\includes\pages 04/30/2012 03:55 PM 153 inventory_list_retrieve.php 06/18/2012 11:17 AM 6,756 ix.html 06/19/2012 01:47 PM 257,501 jquery.1.7.1.js 3 File(s) 264,410 bytes 0 Dir(s) 362,280,906,752 bytes free That just doesn't make any sense to me. Any clue? The question is posed on stackOverflow because the DIR command is often combined with FOR in batch programs. The strange DIR behavior would seem to make batch programs potentially unreliable if they use the DIR command.

• 32bit domU on 64bit dom0

  I'm using 64bit Centos Dom0 with: 2.6.18-164.15.1.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Mar 17 12:04:23 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux recently i migrated some 32bit Centos domUs on this node. As by specs 32bit domUs should work with 64bit dom0. DomUs are paravirtualized, and everything works, except iptables limit. Anyways runing csf on domU will return following messages in dmesg: ip_tables: (C) 2000-2006 Netfilter Core Team Netfilter messages via NETLINK v0.30. ip_conntrack version 2.4 (2080 buckets, 16640 max) - 304 bytes per conntrack ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 ip_tables: limit match: invalid size 40 != 28 Doing lsmod on both dom0 and domU is listing all iptables modules required as loaded.
