• Unable to access site over HTTPS using self signed certificate

  I am developing a REST API which I want to secure with SSL/TLS. I have implemented a large part of the API which I have tested over HTTP, however, I am now at the stage where I want to switch it over to use HTTPS. At the moment the API is hosted on a Windows XP professional SP2 box running IIS 5.1 (development environment only) and I used the SelfSSL.exe tool from the IIS 6.0 Resource Kit Tools to generate a server certificate. I then configured my API to use this certificate which all appeared to work fine as I attempted to connect to my API using HTTP and I get a 403 response saying "... must be accessed over a secure channel...". However, the problem is when I attempt to access the same the API over HTTPS it just appears to hang! As this is a development environment at the moment I don't have a domain name (just a static IP address) and the API is running on port 81. Also (incase it matters) the API is the default site (I replaced it). Any ideas why I can't connect using HTTPS?

• How to setup apache to catch a proxy_pass from nginx?

  I have a working apache vhost such as <VirtualHost localhost:10006> DocumentRoot "/home/pate/***/git/kohana_site/public/site/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:10006> ServerName api.* DocumentRoot "/home/pate/***/git/kohana_site/public/api/" LogLevel debug </VirtualHost> If i point to localhost:10006 I get my website and api.localhost:10006 I get my api. Then I have haproxy setup on top of that, that runs on port 10010 and both localhost:10010 and api.localhost:10010 have the expected behaviour. Now I have nginx setup on port 80 with this configuration. server { listen 10000; server_name api.*; location / { proxy_pass http://legacy_server; } } server { listen 10000 default; server_name _; location /nginx_status { stub_status on; access_log off; } # images are accessed via the CDN over HTTP (not https) location /n/image { proxy_pass http://image_caching_server; } location / { return 301 https://$host:10014$request_uri; } } upstream legacy_server { server localhost:10010 fail_timeout=0; } the problem is that apache does not recognize the vhost properly and redirects api.localhost to the website instead of the api. I tried playing with set_proxy_header Host $host but it doesn't seem to do anything.

• Gradle + Robolectric: Where do I put the file org.robolectric.Config.properties?

  I'm trying to setup a test using Robolectric to click on a menu button in this repository. Basic Robolectric tests will run, but I'm not able to run any project-specific test using resources because it says it can't find my AndroidManifest.xml. After running ../gradlew clean check, here's the standard output from the Robolectric html file: WARNING: No manifest file found at ./AndroidManifest.xml.Falling back to the Android OS resources only. To remove this warning, annotate your test class with @Config(manifest=Config.NONE). I found these instructions which indicate I should create an org.robolectric.Config.properties file, but I'm not sure where to put it. I've tried everywhere, pretty much, and despite moving the file, the path in the error message is always the same as above (./AndroidManifest.xml). This makes me think the build process has never picked up the settings in the file org.robolectric.Config.properties. I also tried the @Config(manifest="") directive but this gave me a cannot find symbol error. If I move the AndroidManifest.xml into my project directory, then I get an error about it not being able to find the path ./res/values and I wasn't able to resolve that either. Any ideas? Update 1 Thanks Eugen, I'm now using @RunWith(RobolectricGradleTestRunner.class) instead of @RunWith(RobolectricTestRunner). Is this true? Is there a way to take snapshots and back them up offsite easily? Can this be done incrementally as to save how much disk space is actually used? If a rollback needed to be done, how long does this typically take? Is a rollback also instantaneous? Thanks!

  Recently, the campus computers installed Google Toolbar in Firefox. Now, I have no use for this toolbar, so I don't want it there. For that and other reasons, I installed Portable Firefox on a USB stick and use that instead. Somehow, when I log into one of these machines and start Portable Firefox, guess what? "Thank you for installing Google Toolbar." No! I don't want some IT guy choosing what extensions to install on my personal Firefox on my USB stick. I can uninstall it but next time I log in, it comes right back. I suppose PF is for some reason reading things from the local disk, or there's some kind of background process installing it? How do I prevent extensions being installed without my consent?

  I have email accounts on several domains that use Google Mail, and thus far I've only ever used POP to send and receive mail from a single inbox. This is quite functional, and as long as I remember to select the appropriate FROM address when starting a new thread, mostly works without any additional thought: messages received on account A are replied to via account A, and so on. My only complaint is the lag -- I've seen sometimes as much as a half hour between messages arriving in an inbox before being imported into my primary inbox via POP. My question is this: Google also supports IMAP. Would that be in any way preferable over POP access? Reduced lag would be nice, but not at a general speed cost, if everything I do has to check another mailbox too.

• Using Dropbox API instead of a FTP server for backing up DB/Source in your application.

  This is a small aplication scenario. Usually, when you have to do some backups of source code/database on your server, you use a second ftp server, a cronjob to tar.gz your db dumps and source files, and send this file to your ftp server from your application server. Dropbox created an API to use it's infrastrucutre. Since they provide 2gb for free accounts, I thought about being able to upload to it instead of a ftp server. So, if you do some freelance work, you can create a free account for each client and use this approach, maybe encrypting the files you send. You even gain a revision for each sent file, like a revison control system, for free, from the last 30 days. What do you think of this approach? Is it possible? And, more importantly: what are the security risks involved? (That's why I'm asking this on serverfault, since this POV from sysadmins will be more accurate). Thanks!

I've followed several tutorials to create different layouts. I've even learned recently how to use radio buttons and verify which ones were selected. Now I need to create a service that downloads and updates an xml file within the application. I've tried to locate a simple tutorial for services on Google's developer site but so far, so bad. • Getting a domain sub-directory url for a new server

  I have an web application server running tomcat and i need to publish my APIs to internet users. However I don't have a domain name for this server and I can only put the ip address of this server (e.g. 145.XXX.XXX.XXX) to point out where my API xml files are located. I have another web server running with a domain name "http://www.webserver.com" registered on the internet and I want to make use of its domain name to server my web application server API xml files location. How can I do that? using "www.webserver.com/api" or using "api.webserver.com"? which is better? Also I wonder if I want to publish a "rstp://145.XXX.XXX.XXX" web link for video streaming purpose, can I use "rstp://www.webserver.com/api" to replace it and how to do it? I always thought the url contain domain sub-directory name cannot point to another IP address, it only can point to another folder location on the webserver itself.

In XP, Win7 (Win8 have this too, not removed) just select the file right click > send to and you can send this file to many places. In my menu it’s show me Skype because I have installed it. this skype confirm that we can add our own app here to make it more easy for user to send file in our app. Nowadays Many people use Cloud or online site to store the file. In case of html5 drag and drop you need to have site opened and have opened that page which is about file upload. You need to select all  and drag and drop. after drag and drop file is simply uploaded to server and site show you on list (if no error happen). but this file upload is seriously not worthy since I have to open the site when I do this operation.   Through this post I want to describe a feature that can make this thing better.  This API is simply called SASS FILE UPLOAD API Through This API when you surf the site and come into file upload page then the page will tell you that we also have SASS FILE API support. Enable it for better result.   How this work This API feature are activated on 2 basis. 1. Feature are disabled by default on site (or you can change it if it’s not) 2. This API allow specific site to upload the files. Files upload may have some rule. For example (minimum or maximum size of file to uploaded, which format the site allowed you to upload). In case of resume site you will be allowed to use .doc (according to code of site)   How browser recognize that Site have SASS service. This cookie will be accessible with the service so it’s security based safe. other cookie will not be shared.   The cookie will be post,put, get from this location. The all location will be simply about showing a whole list of file. This will gave a treeview kind of json to show the directories on sever.   for example example.com if you have activated the API with this site then you will seen a send to option in your explorer.exe when you send you will got a windows open which folder you want to use to send the file. The windows will also describe the limit and how much you can upload. This thing never required site to opened. When you upload the file this will be uploaded through FTP protocol. FTP protocol are better for performance.   How this API make thing faster. Suppose you want to ask a question and want to post image. you just do it and get it ready when you open stackoverflow.com now stackoverflow will only tell you which file you want to put on your current question that you asking for. second use is about people use cloud app.   There is no need of drag and drop anymore. we just need to do it without drag and drop it. we doesn’t need to open the site either. This thing is still in experiment level. I will update this post when I got some progress on this API.

But if I search in Google blog result then It is showing my webpages in Google blog results. I want to know what is problem with my webpages. Why they are coming in Google blog search instead of Google web search?
