  • Problem searching a NSMutableArray

Basically, I have a UISearchBar searching an NSMutableArray of stories that make up an RSS feed, and when you select a story, it loads in my app's UIWebView. It's difficult to explain, but I have a list of entries 1, 2, 3, and 4 and you search for '4'. 4 will be the first entry in the now-filtered list of data, right? You'd think that by selecting 4, it would load in the UIWebView. Well, the app seems to not recognize that you're selecting the first entry in a filtered list of data, and instead thinks that you're selecting the first entry in the unfiltered array of data, so it loads entry 1. Everything looks right in my code, but obviously it isn't. I know it's a confusing problem, but I hope I made it somewhat clear. Anyway, here's the relevant source so that you may see exactly what I mean: Search.h: http://www.scribd.com/doc/13107802/Searchh Search.m: http://www.scribd.com/doc/13107812/Searchm

  • MPMoviePlayerView fade in/out of overlay

    - by therobot
I've got a MPMoviePlayerViewController, and I've added an overlay as a subview to the MPMoviePlayerController.view that it controls. Does anyone know if there's an easy way to make my added overlay fade in and out with the rest of the controls? My code to initialize and present the player is: LandscapeMPVC * theMovieViewController = [[LandscapeMPVC alloc] initWithContentURL:sourceURL]; MPMoviePlayerController * theMoviePlayer = [theMovieViewController moviePlayer]; [theMoviePlayer setRepeatMode:MPMovieRepeatModeOne]; [theMoviePlayer setScalingMode:MPMovieScalingModeAspectFit]; [theMoviePlayer setFullscreen:YES]; // Attemps at overlays MPViewOverlayController * overlayCont = [[MPViewOverlayController alloc] init]; [[theMovieViewController view] addSubview:overlayCont.view]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(resetToolbar:) name:MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification object:theMoviePlayer]; [self presentMoviePlayerViewControllerAnimated:theMovieViewController]; LandscapeMPVC is just a subclass of MoviePlayerViewController where I overwrite the orientation code. When the rest of the controls fade in the movie player, my custom overlay does not. Is there some code in the controller that I need to add, or some notification that is sent? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • handle when callback to a dealloced delegate?

    - by athanhcong
Hi all, I implemented the delegate-callback pattern between two classes without retaining the delegate. But in some cases, the delegate is dealloced. (My case is that I have a ViewController is the delegate object, and when the user press back button to pop that ViewController out of the NavigationController stack) Then the callback method get BAD_EXE: if (self.delegate != nil && [self.delegate respondsToSelector:selector]) { [self.delegate performSelector:selector withObject:self withObject:returnObject]; } I know the delegate-callback pattern is implemented in a lot of application. What is your solution for this?

  • Using CGRectIntersectsRect for collision detection

    - by user309030
Hi guys, I've got a long rectangular image which is rotated at different kind of angles. However the frame of the rectangular image does not rotate along with the image and instead, the rotation causes the frame to to become larger to fit the rotated image. So when I used CGRectIntersectsRect, the collision detection is totally off because the other image colliding with the rectangular image will collide before it even reaches the visible area of the rect image. In case you don't really know what I'm talking about, have a look at the ascii drawing: normal rectangular image frame, O - pixels, |, – - frame |----------| |OOOOOOOOOO| |----------| after rotation |----------| |O | | O | | O | | O | | O | | O | | O | | O | | O | |----------| I've read through some of the collision articles but all of them are talking about collision with a normal straight rectangle and what I really want is collision with a slanted image, preferably pixel collision detection. TIA for any suggestions made.

  • How can I detect device orientation going back and forth through tabs and views?

    - by JoshD
My application goes back and forth between Portrait and Landscape. I have all of my content(labels, uiimageviews, uilabels) lined up to relocate for both orientations. However, the only change when the device is actually rotated. When I cycle between tabs after it has been rotated it just shows up autosized and not the way I have it setup when the user rotates it. How can I detect the orientation of the device and display the view to reflect the orientation when the taps different tabs?

  • NSTimer freezes the app until it gets fired again?

    - by itai alter
Hello all, I have a simple app with a button, UIImageView and a NSTimer. The timer is fired up every 5 seconds repeatedly to update the ImageView with a new image, while the button simply stops the timer and switches to another View. The problem is that when I press the button, nothing happens for a few seconds (until the timer fires up again). Is there a way to cause the button to stop the timer and do its job at any given time instead of between intervals of the timer? Thanks!

  • UIPopover Sizing

    - by Echilon
I have a UIPopoverController which I'm trying to show from a UIBarButtonItem in a navigation bar. Despite setting the resizing mask for the tableview inside the popover's content viewController, it takes up the whole height of the screen. The only thing which has any effect on the content size is menuPopover.contentViewController.view setFrame:CGRect. I'm using the code below to show the popover inside the left hand side of a UISplitViewController // menuPopover and editVc are properties on the parent viewController menuPopover = [[UIPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:editVc]; [menuPopover presentPopoverFromBarButtonItem:btnMenu permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionAny animated:true]; [menuPopover setPopoverContentSize:CGSizeMake(400, 500) animated:true]; [menuPopover.contentViewController.view setFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,400, 500)]; Yet this is what I'm seeing. The arrow shows where the menu button was which showed the popover: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/545/screenshot20120312at191.png/ It's as though the content view is just expanding vertically.

  • Looking for Reachability (2.0) Use Case Validation

    - by user350243
There is so much info out there on using Apple's Reachability example, and so much is conflicting. I'm trying to find out of I'm using it (Reachability 2.0) correctly below. My App use case is this: If an internet connection is available through any means (wifi, LAN, Edge, 3G, etc.) a UIButton ("See More") is visible on various views. If no connection, the button is not visible. The "See More" part is NOT critical in any way to the app, it's just an add-on feature. "See More" could be visible or not anytime during the application lifecycle as connection is established or lost. Here's how I did it - Is this correct and/or is there a better way? Any help is Greatly Appreciated! lq // AppDelegate.h #import "RootViewController.h" @class Reachability; @interface AppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; UINavigationController *navigationController; RootViewController *rootViewController; Reachability* hostReach; // NOT USED: Reachability* internetReach; // NOT USED: Reachability* wifiReach; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UINavigationController *navigationController; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet RootViewController *rootViewController; @end // AppDelegate.m #import "AppDelegate.h" #import "Reachability.h" #define kHostName @"www.somewebsite.com" @implementation AppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize navigationController; @synthesize rootViewController; - (void) updateInterfaceWithReachability: (Reachability*) curReach { if(curReach == hostReach) { NetworkStatus netStatus = [curReach currentReachabilityStatus]; BOOL connectionRequired = [curReach connectionRequired]; // Set a Reachability BOOL value flag in rootViewController // to be referenced when opening various views if ((netStatus != ReachableViaWiFi) && (netStatus != ReachableViaWWAN)) { rootViewController.bConnection = (BOOL *)0; } else { rootViewController.bConnection = (BOOL *)1; } } } - (void) reachabilityChanged: (NSNotification* )note { Reachability* curReach = [note object]; NSParameterAssert([curReach isKindOfClass: [Reachability class]]); [self updateInterfaceWithReachability: curReach]; } - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // NOTE: #DEFINE in Reachability.h: // #define kReachabilityChangedNotification @"kNetworkReachabilityChangedNotification" [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver: self selector: @selector(reachabilityChanged:) name: kReachabilityChangedNotification object: nil]; hostReach = [[Reachability reachabilityWithHostName: kHostName] retain]; [hostReach startNotifer]; [self updateInterfaceWithReachability: hostReach]; [window addSubview:[navigationController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)dealloc { [navigationController release]; [rootViewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end

  • Class for move, scale and rotate, of a uiimageview

    - by David
Hi Everyone, I'm creating a subclass of UIImageView that detects touches, and will move, rotate and scale the image based on the touches. However, I really feel like I'm reinventing the wheel here, and it's driving me nuts. Shouldn't this already exist somewhere? Does anyone have any examples, or links to a class that is already doing this? Or if you have a class you've written, that'd be helpful too. Thanks a lot in advance.

  • POSTDATA, ASIHTTPrequest + instapaper

    - by Andrew
    Hi guys, I'm trying to use ASIHTTPRequest to submit links to instapaper (http://www.instapaper.com/api). I'm able to authenticate but I get a 400 response when trying to submit a link, so I'm clearly in need of figuring how to use postdata. Any help appreciated. Sample code attached. Thanks NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlInstapaperAddUrl]; ASIHTTPRequest instapaperAuthRequest = [ASIHTTPRequest requestWithURL:url]; [instapaperAuthRequest setDelegate:self]; [instapaperAuthRequest setRequestMethod:@"PUT"]; NSData temp = [[NSData alloc] initWithData:[@"url=http://www.redhat.com" dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]]; [instapaperAuthRequest appendPostData:temp]; [instapaperAuthRequest addBasicAuthenticationHeaderWithUsername:@"myusername" andPassword:@"mypassword"]; [instapaperAuthRequest startAsynchronous];

  • How should child views of UIScrollView report their bounds for contentSize?

    - by Mike
I'm looking more for advice on the correct design for a view. What I have is a UIScrollView that contains one or more custom Views I have created. My problem is, who reports to the scrollview what it's contentSize should be? I have the following: UIView +-UIScrollView +-CustomView 1 with dynamic height depending on data +-CustomView 2 with dynamic Height depending on data The UIViewController creates new instances of the custom views with data and then adds them as subviews to the UIScrollView. The problem I'm having is how to set the value of the scrollview's contentSize? Right now, I'm not doing that and the contents of the scrollview are clipped with no scrolling possible. Should the custom view call [parent setContentSize:] in its drawRect:? Should the UIViewController query the custom view after creation to get its bounds and then call setContentSize? Should I subclass the UIScrollView to override addSubView to query each subview's height? Is there something else I'm missing? I hope I explained that properly. I'm new to this and still getting a handle on things.

  • Shake to open view modally

    - by Vivas
Hi, I have my 'shake' working fine (using motionEnded), based off of Apple's GLPaint code. When the user shakes the device (running 3.0 and up) I want to open a view controller modally using presentModalViewController. In my appdelegate I have the notification (as per the GLPaint sample code): [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(shakeToOpenHiddenScreen) name:@"shake" object:nil]; In my shakeToOpenHiddenScreen I just want to open view 'x' modally but I don't think that my appdelegate will respond to presentModalViewController. Is there a way around this?

  • How to get the title and subtitle for a pin when we are implementing the MKAnnotation?

    - by wolverine
I have implemented the MKAnnotation as below. I will put a lot of pins and the information for each of those pins are stored in an array. Each member of this array is an object whose properties will give the values for the title and subtitle of the pin. Each object corresponds to a pin. But how can I display these values for the pin when I click a pin?? @interface UserAnnotation : NSObject <MKAnnotation> { CLLocationCoordinate2D coordinate; NSString *title; NSString *subtitle; NSString *city; NSString *province; } @property (nonatomic, assign) CLLocationCoordinate2D coordinate; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *title; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *subtitle; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *city; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *province; -(id)initWithCoordinate:(CLLocationCoordinate2D)c; And .m is @implementation UserAnnotation @synthesize coordinate, title, subtitle, city, province; - (NSString *)title { return title; } - (NSString *)subtitle { return subtitle; } - (NSString *)city { return city; } - (NSString *)province { return province; } -(id)initWithCoordinate:(CLLocationCoordinate2D)c { coordinate=c; NSLog(@"%f,%f",c.latitude,c.longitude); return self; } @end

  • Core Data Relationships in pre-populated SQLite database

    - by Cardinal
Hi All, I'm new to Core Data. Currently I have following tables on hand: tbl_teahcer tbl_student tbl_course tbl_student_course_map ----------- ----------- ---------- ---------------------- teacher_id student_id course_id student_id name name name course_id teahcer_id And I'm going to make the xcdatamodel as below: Course Teacher ------ ------- name name teacher <<----------> courses students <<---| | Student | ------- | name |----->> courses My questions are as follows: As I'd like to create TableView for Cource Entity, is it a must to create the Inverse Relationship from Teacher to Course, and Student to Course? What is the beneit for having the Inverse Relationship? I got some pre-defined data on hand, and I'd like to create a SQLite storage for pre-populated source. How can I set up the relationships (both directions) in SQLite? Thank you for your help! Regards, Cardinal

  • Why isn't my UITableView appearing in the correct scroll position?

    - by zbrimhall
I have a split view-based app that presents a master-detail interface, and uses a popover to present the master list when in portrait mode. The popover presents a sectioned table view that ultimately gets populated by a subclass of NSFetchedResultsController. I can tap the tool bar button to present the master list, scroll to whatever row, and tap the row to dismiss the popover. My problem is that if the table is scrolled past the top of the second section, when I dismiss the popover and then later tap the toolbar button to re-present it, the table's scroll position is always set such that the first row of the second section is at the top of the list. If I haven't scrolled past the top of the second section, it correctly remembers its scroll position when the table is presented again. Similarly, in landscape mode, if I scroll the table past the top of the third section and then rotate to portrait, when I come back to landscape the scroll position is always set such that the first row of the third section is at the top of the list. I tried calling -scrollToNearestSelectedRowAtScrollPosition:animated in both the master view controller's -viewWillAppear, as well as in the split view delegate's splitViewController:popoverController:willPresentViewController:, to no effect. Anybody have a clue what I might be doing wrong?

  • Why is forControlEvents UNDEFINED?

    - by munchine
    Hi Guys, I've got a simple question but it has got me confounded. The code below gets a UNDEFINED error for UIControlTouchUpInside. What do I need to include or import? If I comment out the line, it works. So that means forState:UIControlStateNormal is defined. I'm new so hope you can help. UIButton * button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; [button setTitle:@"Accept?" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(acceptTapped) forControlEvents:UIControlTouchUpInside]; button.frame = CGRectMake(225.0, 145.0, 80.0, 30.0); [self.view addSubview:button];

  • How to keep track of NSManagedObjects created in core-data persistently.

    - by KayKay
In my application i am using core-data to store information and saving these data to the server using web-connectivity i have to use MySql. Basically what i want to do is to keep track of number of NSManagedObject already created and Whenever i am adding new NSManagedObject, based on that counting it will assign the class a Int_value which will act as primary_key in MySql. For examaple, there are already 10 NSManagedobjects, and when i will add new one it will assign it "11" as primary_key. these value will have to be increasing because there is no deleting of NSManagedObject. From my approach its about static member in applicationDelegate whose initial value can be any integer but should be incremented by one everytime new NSManagedObject is created and also it should be persistent. I am not clear how to do this, please give me suggestions. Thanks in advance.

  • presentViewController or presentModalViewController not supporting orientation in iOS 6

    - by Prateek
I am new to this technology. I am using this code if ([self respondsToSelector:@selector(presentViewController:animated:completion:)]) { [self presentViewController:navigationControllerCustom animated:YES completion:nil]; } else { [self presentModalViewController:navigationControllerCustom animated:YES]; } My application has two orientation Portrait and Portrait upside down. This code works well with iOS 5.1, but orientation does not work on iOS 6 I have also added this code on my navigationControllerCustom class - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown); } -(NSUInteger)supportedInterfaceOrientations { return (UIInterfaceOrientationMaskPortrait | UIInterfaceOrientationMaskPortraitUpsideDown); } Please help me to solve this issue. Thanks in advance.
