Eclipse C++ on WinXP - Type `::iterator' has not been declared

I'm new to C++/Eclipse. I'm trying to get it working to get a new perspective on a problem with a program I wrote in DevCPP. The program is simple and builds fine in DevCPP. In Eclipse, I get hundreds of errors like the one above. I assume the compiler can't see my include files. I've checked that the project settings - GCC C++ compiler - directories contains the location for my include files (D:\MinGW\include\c++\3.4.5). I've prowled around and tried to change 'Discovery Options' to 'GCC C++ Compiler' from 'GCC C Compiler' but it keeps changing back. I guess this is not the problem. Any help would be very welcome. I'm on a tight deadline with many interruptions and this is cracking me up.

Ubuntu 12.04 installation on GPT + RAID going into grub rescue

I have two 2TB disks. I am installing Ubuntu 12.04 using the alternate version of the server cd. On the partitioning page I have done my partitioning as follows /dev/sda1 - 32 MB - bios_grub /dev/sda2 - 50 GB -raid device /dev/sda3 - 8 GB -raid device /dev/sda4 - Balance full GB - raid device /dev/sdb1 - 32 MB - bios_grub /dev/sdb2 - 50 GB -raid device /dev/sdb3 - 8 GB -raid device /dev/sdb4 - Balance full GB - raid device After this I have setup raid devices /dev/md0 for /(/dev/sda2 + /dev/sdb2) for / ext4 /dev/md1 for swap( /dev/sda3 + /dev/sdb3)for swap /dev/md2 for /home(/dev/sda4 + /dev/sdb4)for /home ext4 The installation finishes it shows that it is installing grub to /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. But once the system reboots it falls into grub rescue mode. on doing ls I can not see the md devices only hd once. I also tried booting into rescue mode with the install cd and doing grub-install /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. What am I doing wrong ? Why is grub2 not detecting the raid revices ? UPDATE: I just did the same steps with Ubuntu 10.04 and it worked perfectly fine. I wiped out the RAID and partitions and everything and did it from scratch. I think the issue is with Ubuntu 12.04 and the way it partitions 2 TB disks

Code Completion -- Aptana Eclipse Plugin

I have been doing javascript development for the last couple weeks and have tried JSDT and Aptana to assist in code completion. JSDT wasn't very good at all, but I did have more luck with Aptana (used as eclipse plug-in, not the standalone product). The problem I'm encountering is that when I create javascript classes I cannot get code completion to work. For example, if I use the following then code completion doesn't work: var foo = new function(value){ this.myMethod= function(){ } } I have also verified that the following won't work: function foo(value){ this.myMethod= function(){ } } I have found that using a JSON style does work: var foo = { myMethod: function(){ } } Does anyone know why Aptana works for the last style, but not the first? Using the JSON style won't work for me because I have to have seperate instances of the class in question. Also, I am not very successful in getting code completion to work across files. For example, if I have 3 files in the javascript directory then I usually cannot get Aptana to pick up the JSON style markup in the other two classes. This DID work at one point (for the first 2 classes I created), but since then whenever I add new classes they aren't picked up. Thank you very much for you assistance. Jeremy

Presumably, that should make them available on the classpath when I select the java module that contains "main" and do a "run as" application. What's the problem? I suspect it may be related to 64-bit vs 32-bit VMs....

PHP Error handling in WordPress plugin

I am a newbie to both PHP and Wordpress (but do ok in C#), and am struggling to understand the error handling in a custom plugin I am attempting to write. The basics of the plugin is to query an exsiting MSSQL database (note its not the standard MYSQL db...) and return the rows back to the screen. This was working well, but the hosting provider has taken my database offline, which led me to the error handling problem (which I thought was ok). The following code is failing to connect to the database (as expected), but puts an error onto the screen and stops the page processing. It does not even output the 'or die' error text. Why does first call to java.io.File.createTempFile(String,String,File) take 5 seconds on Citrix?

While debugging slow startup of an Eclipse RCP app on a Citrix server, I came to find out that java.io.createTempFile(String,String,File) is taking 5 seconds. It does this only on the first execution and only for certain user accounts. Specifically, I am noticing it Citrix anonymous user accounts. I have not tried many other types of accounts, but this behavior is not exhibited with an administrator account. Also, it does not matter if the user has access to write to the given directory or not. If the user does not have access, the call will take 5 seconds to fail. If they do have access, the call with take 5 seconds to succeed. This is on a Windows 2003 Server. I've tried Sun's 1.6.0_16 and 1.6.0_19 JREs and see the same behavior. I googled a bit expecting this to be some sort of known issue, but didn't find anything. It seems like someone else would have had to have run into this before. The Eclipse Platform uses File.createTempFile() to test various directories to see if they are writeable during initialization and this issue adds 5 seconds to the startup time of our application. I imagine somebody has run into this before and might have some insight. Here is sample code I executed to see that it is indeed this call that is consuming the time. Why is /dev/rfcomm0 giving PySerial problems?

I am connecting my Ubuntu box to a wireless readout setup over Bluetooth. I wrote a Python script to send the serial information through /dev/rfcomm0. The script connects fine and works for a few minutes, but then Python will start using 100% CPU and the messages stop flowing through. I can open rfcomm0 in a serial terminal and communicate through it by hand just fine. When I open it through a terminal it seems to work indefinitely. Also, I can swap the Bluetooth receiver for a USB cable, and change the port to /dev/ttyUSB0, and I don't get any problems over time. It seems either I'm doing something wrong with rfcomm0 or PySerial doesn't handle it well. Even when the BluetoothError arises, the "connected" light on the receiver stays illuminated, and it is not until I power-cycle to receiver that I can reconnect. I'm not sure how to approach this problem. It's odd that the connection would work fine for a few minutes (seemingly a random amount of time) and then seize up. In case it helps, the Bluetooth receiver is a BlueSmirf Silver from Sparkfun. Do I need to be trying to maintain the connection from the receiver end or something?

LTSP: flash plugin crashes after updates

I am running an alternate install 64 bit Ubuntu 12.04 with ltsp-server-standalone. I recently ran a few updates, including adding wine from the repos, adding Medibuntu, and adding google earth, all on the server, which runs as a user workstation. Before the updates, the flash plugin ran fine in thin clients. However, it now crashes. No problem with running the flash plugin on the server / workstation. I have since followed the LTSPManual pdf to copy over my sources list, add Medibuntu in the chroot, update and upgrade, and then update the image, but the flash plugin still crashes. How to uninstall a firefox plugin?

I was trying to play minecraft in the browser, and I got asked to install a plugin called "IcedTea-Web Plugin (using IcedTea-Web 1.2 (1.2-2ubuntu1))" (something related to Java 6), which I can see now in Tools Addons Plugins. There was another plugin to install (for Java 7), I didn't know if I had to select one, so I just clicked Install or Accept. Now the game or java app only shows a black screen, so I thought I should uninstall the plugin and try installing the other one. But there doesn't seem to be a way to uninstall plugins through the firefox GUI. Any ideas?

I'm interesting in using this Deskew plugin which appears somewhat old, with broken links in the gimp registry. https://github.com/prokoudine/gimp-deskew-plugin How do I go about installing it on Ubuntu 64-bit 12.10 running Gimp 2.8? I can't figure what I have to "configure" or "make" to compile the plugin. I understand the end result should be placed Noob-level: I know how to get around in a terminal, but that's about it. RAID degraded on Ubuntu server

We're having a very weird issue at work. Our Ubuntu server has 6 drives, set up with RAID1 as follows: /dev/md0, consisting of: /dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1 /dev/md1, consisting of: /dev/sda2 /dev/sdb2 /dev/md2, consisting of: /dev/sda3 /dev/sdb3 /dev/md3, consisting of: /dev/sdc1 /dev/sdd1 /dev/md4, consisting of: /dev/sde1 /dev/sdf1 As you can see, md0, md1 and md2 all use the same 2 drives (split into 3 partitions). I also have to note that this is done via ubuntu software raid, not hardware raid. Today, the /md0 RAID1 array shows as degraded - it is missing the /dev/sdb1 drive. But since /dev/sdb1 is only a partition (and /dev/sdb2 and /dev/sdb3 are working fine), it's obviously not the drive that's gone AWOL, it seems the partition itself is missing. How is that even possible? And what could we do to fix it? Problems with shutting down JBoss in Eclipse if I change JNDI port

1st phase I have a problem shutting down my running JBoss instance under Eclipse since I changed the JNDI port of JBoss. Of course I can shut it down from the console view but not with the stop button (it still searches JNDI port at the default 1099 port). I'm looking forward to any solutions. Thank you! gwt maven war plugin configuration problem

I am developing a gwt application in maven. In this I am using maven war plugin. Everything works fine. When I give mvn install command it builds abc.war file in target folder. But it is not copying compiled javascript files ("module1" and "module2" directories present in target) to war directory. I want to get newly compiled javascript files in war directory. Custom initrd init script: how to create /dev/initctl

I have a virtual machine (VMM is Xen 3.3) equipped with two IDE HDD's (/dev/hda and /dev/hdb). The root file system is in /dev/hda1, where Scientific Linux 5.4 is installed. /dev/hdb contains an empty ext2 file system. I want to protect the root file system from writes by the VM by using aufs (AnotherUnionFS) to layer a writable file system on top of the root file system. The changes to / will be written to the file system located on /dev/hdb. (Furthermore, outside the VM, the file backing the /dev/hda will also be set to read-only permissions, so the VMM should also prevent the VM from modifying at that level.) (The purpose of this setup: be able to corrupt a virtual machine using software-implemented fault injection but preserve the file system image in order to quickly reboot the VM to a fault-free state.) How do I get an initrd init script to do the necessary mounts to create the union file system? I've tried 2 approaches: I've tried modifying the nash script that mkinitrd creates, but I don't know what setuproot and switchroot do and how to make them use my aufs as the new root. Apparently, nobody else here knows either. (EDIT: I take that back.) I've tried building a LiveCD (using linux-live-6.3.0) and then modifying the Bash /linuxrc script from the generated initrd, and I got the mounts correct, but the final /sbin/init complains about /dev/initctl. Specifically, my /linuxrc mounts the aufs at /union. The last few lines of /linuxrc effectively do the following: cd /union mkdir -p mnt/live pivot_root . mnt/live exec sbin/chroot . sbin/init </dev/console >/dev/console 2>&1 When init starts, it outputs something like init: /dev/initctl: No such file or directory. What is supposed to create this FIFO? I found no such filename in the original linuxrc and liblinuxlive scripts. I tried creating it via "mkfifo /dev/initctl", but then init complained about a timeout opening or writing to the FIFO. Would appreciate any help or pointers. Thanks.

Since Handbrake can't be installed in Oneiric, I decided to try and build it from source instead. The build is interrupted because it complains glib is not installed, so I thought I better install the glib development package.
