• mailman not relaying email to external address

  I have a setup of mailman with postfix on an ubuntu server 12.04. My problem is that mailing list emails are not forwarded to email addresses external to my institution. However the initial welcome email is received by everyone, internally and externally. in fact, a simple email from command line with mail is successfully sent to anyone after that, mailing list emails are only forwarded to internal addresses. the domain name I'm using for the server is not that of my institution who is hosting the server. • Live streaming external FLV files

  I want to broadcast live video from a playlist created by me, but the actual video files (.flv's) are stored in some external file hosting which I can't admin, but it's currently allowing the use of flash players for playing its contents (progressively). Which is the best solution for this? Can I use my current web server (Debian w/Apache) or should I use some specific server software? I've read some names such as Red5 and Wowza but I can't tell if those are solutions to my actual problem or how should I use them. Also, costs should be as low as possible for this project.

  I have a Thomson 585V6 router which has built in voip support. I want to be able to use a softphone to make calls. for example phone my dad's mobile. Any incomming calls to my normal bt number should be taken via my pc as well. What I have done so far: I've wired the pstn port on the router to the telephone jack. The router is connected to my pc. I have installed asterisk on the pc I want to take calls on. The sip client authenticates to the sip server. output from twinkle: Sun 22:46:45 home, registration succeeded (expires = 3600 seconds) how do I take external calls/ answer incoming calls from pstn?

  I have a 3 year old Dell inspiron 6400 with windows 7 and ubuntu 9.10 dual boot. I messed up my Laptop keyboard and hence my Fn key is not working and I need it to activate the wireless whose activation combination is Fn+F2. Is there any way I can emulate the Fn key or get my wireless to start in windows or ubuntu ? My bios has an option for Fn key emulation but that only supports external PS/2 keyboards and my laptop doesn't have a ps/2 slot. Any ideas would be appreciated ..

  I have a .Net web application that for performance issues gets all the static data (CSS, Images, JS) from an external server that is on different location and different hosting company. I want to enable SSL on my site without the users getting a message: "Page contains both secure and insecure elements" Does this means I’ll have to get two SSL Certificates one for each server? If I want the users to continue getting the static content from the external server what other options do I have? Thanks.

• Suggestions on providing HA access to an external (fibre) RAID subsystem

  We are looking at upgrading our storage capacity with an external RAID subsystem that has redundant (2) fibre controllers, each controller has 4 x 8 Gbps fibre ports. I would like to make access to this storage system occur via HA Linux. Ideally I would connect 2 fibre ports from each controller into each Linux server, and then export either NFS or iSCSI via a 10 Gbe interface. I have seen plenty of references to DRBD, however all of those references tend to use block storage that is solely attached to each machine, rather than having a shared block storage device, so I am unsure if DRBD could (or should) be used in this case. Ideas?

• Still no external sound after installing ubuntu 10.04

  As suggested I upgraded. Same as before except now not even the speaker control in the application bar. Please help. Background: I have Ubuntu 9.10. Headphones appear to work fine. External speakers - nothing. There are so many sound preferences I have no idea what or which combination. Went to terminal and ran alsamixer which seems to recognize my sound card, though the driver is not listed in System Administration Hardware Drivers; the only driver listed is my graphics card. Setup: I have a Dell 8250. Speakers are plugged into the SB live card. Woofer and 2 speakers using transformer.

  i have several subdomains(git.example.org, build.example.org, etc.), i have a router with an external ip and i have several virtual machines on a host computer with internal ips. Now i want to route git.example.org to internal ip 10.0.2.1 and build.example.org to internal ip 10.0.2.2. How can I do this? I setup in the Router that all traffic on port 80 is comming to my host computer with internal ip 10.0.2.3 and installed Squid on that computer. I added the following lines to the squid.conf file: cache_peer 10.0.2.1 parent 80 0 no-query originserver name=server_1 cache_peer_domain server_1 git.example.org cache_peer 10.0.2.2 parent 80 0 no-query originserver name=server_2 cache_peer_domain server_2 build.example.org But this is not working for me. :( Any help appreciated.   I have a FTP server (vsftpd) setuped on a Linux box (Ubuntu server). When I try to connect with a computer on the same network everything works fine as expected. But as soon the IP is external it won't connect..   I've got a little old server with CentOS 6.5 on it. The hardware is old and crappy, but enough for what it has to do. Which consists of SSH (+SFTP), Apache, PHP and MySQL. Still, I'm trying to cut away all that I can. One thing that it does not need to do is to be an SMTP server. There are no mailboxes on it and nobody will ever route mail through it. However I do want it to send me an email when something goes wrong. Also, the webpages will send emails from PHP. So that brings me to the question - can I set up the mail system in such a way that there isn't an expensive mailer daemon sitting in the background with queues and whatnotelse, but rather every email is directly and immediately delivered to an external SMTP server? And how do I go about it?

• Windows Server 2008 constantly spamming external IP's on outbound TCP port 445

  Hi Server Fault, I have a Windows Server 2008 box running as a Domain Controller. I have noticed in my Cisco ASA firewall logs that this box is continuously sending out (like a thousand requests a second) requests on TCP port 445 to external hosts. I have made an effort to deny this outbound traffic from getting on the internet (using the ASA), however I would like these requests to stop from even occurring at all. I have tried disabling TCP/IP over NetBIOS. I have even turned on Windows Advanced Firewall on the box itself to block outbound 445 but the ASA still detects this particular traffic hitting it. I have other DC's and similar type boxes which are not behaving the same way as this box. Is this normal? Is there a way to stop this spamming? Have I been infected? Thank you universe.

  I have a desktop PC running Windows 7. I have connected an external stereo receiver and speakers to it and everything works fine when I test it in the Realtek Audio Sound through the control panel. However, when I play a video or an audio CD, the stereo speakers do not work. I have line in, line out, and speakers connected to the receiver. I have been through the configure speakers portion also. Is there someplace else I need to configure?

• Mac firewall blocking nginx (port 80) from external side

  I installed nginx using ports and started it with sudo. Accessing the nginx welcome page from localhost works perfectly, however accessing it from an external computer fails. Doing an nmap on the computer from the outside reveals 80/tcp filtered http So clearly the mac firewall is blocking the port. I then proceed to add the nginx executable to the firewall exception list as seen in this image, however the nmap still shows up as port 80 being filtered and I'm unable to access the webpage. The exact binary that is in the list is /opt/local/sbin/nginx which to my knowledge seems correct Any ideas what I should do? Thanks! P.S. Turning the firewall off does allow me to access the website from the outside world, however that isn't an ideal solution.

• Make laptop boot to external monitor

  Hi all. Heres my setup: Dell 1737 2x Dell U2311H The laptop lid is always closed and is wall mounted behind the monitors. Every time i boot the laptop, i have to open the lid a little until it goes to the win 7 logon screen. Once there, i close the lid and both monitors get detected and the laptop screen switches off. As the laptop is wall mounted how ever, its really tedious to keep opening and closing the lid. Is there any way i can make it default to the external monitors permanently? Any suggestions are welcome, even hardware mods. Im willing to rip apart the laptop to install a switch or something if needs be lol

  We're in the process of setting up a Jabber server on Amazon EC2 right now, and we'd like to have our internal users authenticate via LDAP so we don't have to create/manage a separate set of user accounts than the master directory in the office. My question is: is there a way to copy, unidirectionally, a segment of our internal LDAP directory (the user accounts OU) to an external LDAP server and authenticate Jabber against that? We're trying to work around having our externally hosted machines out in the cloud accessing our internal network directly... If we can replicate in one direction only a subset of the user accounts, then if that gets compromised we don't necessarily have a critical security breach into our internal network.

  I recently installed Windows 7, all is well so far, apart from using RDP to access computers outside my domain. We use a datacenter, outside of our domain. I was using Windows Vista before (not sure if this is relevant) - I could RDP no problem to the machines (using their machine names - Web10 for example) I have changed my IP address to be the same as it was when i was using vista We use a draytek firewall - we use DMZ Host to map my IP to an external ip- which is allowed to access the datacenter I've disabled windows firewall When i try to connect in Remote Desktop client, using Web10, I can't connect, however, if I enter the actual IP address, i can.   Hello, I'm having a major problem and I really need your help! I have a MacBook Air which has the NVidia 9400M. The problem is, when I connect it to an external projector Windows 7 (and Vista) only allow me to connect at 640x480. I need it to use the laptop to present at conferences, as such I need it to work on a number of different projectors - at the moment I need to use OSX and VMWare but it's painfully slow and really doesn't work. At the moment, I'm considering buying a new laptop :( Is there any way to override the screen resolutions provided? I've saw some information around EDID? Thanks Ben

• iTunes + External Hard Drive problem

  Okay, so I've always stored my music on my external hard drive and run it from there with iTunes. Recently, however, it's being a little awkward. I think it was because I accidentally tried to run a song off my hard drive when it wasn't plugged in and, as would be expected, it said it couldn't find it. So I plug the hard drive in, locate the file and off it goes. But now it won't find any of the files... When I go to the "Get Info" page on the right click menu on a song I notice it has prepended file://localhost/ to everything, so my paths look like this: "file://localhost/E:/Sam/Media/Music/[song name]" I went into the iTunes Music Library.xml file and did a search and replace for file://localhost/ and replaced it with nothing and tried opening iTunes again and it just added file://localhost/ to every file again! Anyone have any idea why it does this and how to fix it without reimporting my library?

• EXT4 external hard drive for use with multiple systems

  I recently bought a external hard drive to store some data on. I use Linux but I am not a power user. If I format the drive to EXT4, is it possible for the permissions to ever screw up and I lost access to my data? I will be plugging the drive into several different linux based computers at work and I frequently hop distros on my main home machine. I need to make sure I don't lose any data because I overlooked something. I am not familiar with EXT 3 or 4. So far I have done this : Formatted drive to EXT4 ran gksudo thunar and changed the permissions to my user account and all settings to read/write Wrote all the files I need to the drive I really appreciate any help.
