  Hi, I need some "light" to get a solution. Probably there are tons of things that cause this problem, but maybe somebody could help me. Scenario: a Windows server running 24/7 a PostgreSQL database and others server applications (for processing tasks on database, etc...). There are differents servers scenarios (~30), with different hardware and windows versions (XP SP3/ WinServer, etc... all NT based). All aplications were written in Delphi7, and link to DLLs (in D7 also). After some days (sometimes a week, sometimes a couple of months), Windows begins to act strange, like not opening start menu, some buttons are missing in dialogs. And soon some applications do not open, raising a event on eventviewer: Faulting application x, version y, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5781, fault address 0x00012afb In mean while, others applications open fine, like notepad, iexplore, etc... but SOME of my applications don't, with only event log described above. But if we do not restart system, in a few days even cmd.exe stops open, (and all other applications) with same error on eventlog. I've tried to find 'what' can cause this, but with no sucess. So, and any advice will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

This fails with the error: mysql Fatal error encountered during command execution. Any ideas on why this would fail?

• Error Handling in T-SQL Scalar Function

  Ok.. this question could easily take multiple paths, so I will hit the more specific path first. While working with SQL Server 2005, I'm trying to create a scalar funtion that acts as a 'TryCast' from varchar to int. Where I encounter a problem is when I add a TRY block in the function; CREATE FUNCTION u_TryCastInt ( @Value as VARCHAR(MAX) ) RETURNS Int AS BEGIN DECLARE @Output AS Int BEGIN TRY SET @Output = CONVERT(Int, @Value) END TRY BEGIN CATCH SET @Output = 0 END CATCH RETURN @Output END Turns out theres all sorts of things wrong with this statement including "Invalid use of side-effecting or time-dependent operator in 'BEGIN TRY' within a function" and "Invalid use of side-effecting or time-dependent operator in 'END TRY' within a function". I can't seem to find any examples of using try statements within a scalar function, which got me thinking, is error handling in a function is possible? The goal here is to make a robust version of the Convert or Cast functions to allow a SELECT statement carry through depsite conversion errors. For example, take the following; CREATE TABLE tblTest ( f1 VARCHAR(50) ) GO INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('1') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('2') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('3') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('f') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('5') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('1.1') SELECT CONVERT(int,f1) AS f1_num FROM tblTest DROP TABLE tblTest It never reaches point of dropping the table because the execution gets hung on trying to convert 'f' to an integer. I want to be able to do something like this; SELECT u_TryCastInt(f1) AS f1_num FROM tblTest fi_num __________ 1 2 3 0 5 0 Any thoughts on this? Is there anything that exists that handles this? Also, I would like to try and expand the conversation to support SQL Server 2000 since Try blocks are not an option in that scenario. Thanks in advance.

• ASP.net FFMPEG video conversion receiving error: "Error number -2 occurred"

  Hello, I am attempting to integrate FFMPEG into my asp.net website. The process I am trying to complete is to upload a video, check if it is .avi, .mov, or .wmv and then convert this video into an mp4 using x264 so my flash player can play it. I am using an http handler (ashx) file to handle my upload. This is where I am also putting my conversion code. I am not sure if this is the best place to put it, but I wanted to see if i could at least get it working. Additionally, I was able to complete the conversion manually through cmd line. The error -2 comes up when i output the standard error from the process I executed. I should mention that the binaries are taken from the latest build of Castle though I have never worked with nant so I didn't bother re-compiling from source and just took the files in the bin directory. • Git checking out problem [fatal: early EOFs]

  Dear all, I'm running a Ubuntu (9.10) server with Git (latest from Ubuntu package manager) installed. Access to the Git is via SSH. On windows machines, I'm using Cygwin to push/pull code. I can push my project code onto the server but when I do a clone or pull, it returns a [fatal: early EOFs] error at about 75-80%. Upon further investigation, it seems like textual data has no issue when pulled/cloned but when the jar files and images are pulled from Git, the error will occur. Any suggestion/advice that can help to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

• SQL Server 2005 and 'General network error'

  I know there is a lot of information in the Internet about solving this problem, but it didn't help me. My Delphi application uses dbExpress controls to access the database and execute SQL queries. Once every couple of days, however, it stops working because the database connection fails. This happens on several different computers with different versions of Windows. MSSQL Server 2005 (version 9.0.4035) is installed on each of them. The above mentioned application executes queries every couple of seconds, and they are mainly insert commands. Every couple of days I get a series of exceptions like the following one: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (PreLoginHandshake()).]General network error. Check your network documentation. And then the SQL server becomes inaccessible until I restart it manually. The information I found in the Internet say that I should install some service packs, change some registry entries etc., but believe me, none of these helps and I don't know what else to do now. Could you please help me solve this problem? Any clues or ideas? I can give you some more information about the server or the application if necessary. Thank you very much in advance.

  So I'm using Visual C++ 6.0, and trying to compile some source code, but upon compilation I get this: Linking... LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file "Iphlpapi.lib" Error executing link.exe. I'm using the correct SDK, and the directories are correct. I've checked, double checked, and triple checked. The file is the specified directory. I can't figure out what the problem is. Any ideas? Service Pack 6 SDK for Windows Server 2003 SP1 //Sounds odd, since I'm running XP SP3, but this has worked for me in the past. Like I've said, it worked in the past for me, flawlessly. I don't understand why it won't work now.

  Hello, I am building a Codeigniter shopping cart. On the cart details page I have a form input field allowing the user to type in the quantity required of a product, and a submit button to post the information to the update function. When there is just one item in the cart, when updating the quantity everything works as it should. • FileSystem.GetFiles() + UnauthorizedAccessException error?

  Hello, It seems like FileSystem.GetFiles() is unable to recover from the UnauthorizedAccessException exception that .Net triggers when trying to access an off-limit directory. In this case, does it mean this class/method isn't useful when scanning a whole drive and I should use some other solution (in which case: Which one?)? • English Error Messages in German Visual Studio 2008 / ASP.NET

  This might be a bit weird question, but I'll give it a shot: HELP, my Visual Studio 2008 / ASP.NET is giving me GERMAN error messages. Besides the fact that translations tend to be not as good as the original text, I can't search for those and find relevant answers to my problems on the internet. So: How do I switch my German Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition to English locals? Update - Just to make it clear: I am a German developer, working with a German Windows Vista... I also have a German version of Visual Studio, so it is not surprising, that everything is German. Is just don't want it that way... There must be a way to install english locals into my Visual Studio, though? Or uninstall german ones, so that default english is used?!? (BTW: Same thing for SQL Server Management Studio, too. F**k "Sichten". I want "Views". That's how you really call them. No one says "Sichten", not even here in Germany, and not even though it is translated correctly).

• SharePoint 2007 Parser Error after updating master page

  A few weeks ago I was updating the master page for a SharePoint 2007 (WSS) site.  The client wanted the site updated to reflect the new look and feel that is being applied to another set of sites in the organization. I created a new theme and master page, which I already wrote about here and here.  It worked well, except for a few pages on a subsite.  On those pages, I got the following error: Server Error in '/' Application. Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Code blocks are not allowed in this file.   I decided to go comb through my new master page and compare it to the existing master page that was already working.  After going through them line by line several times, I had no clue what would be causing the error because they were basically the same! It turns out, it was a combination of two things.  First, on a few of the pages in the site, there was some include code (basically an <% EVAL()%> snippet).  This was the code that was triggering my error “Code blocks are not allowed in this file”. However, this code was working fine with the previous master page. I decided to then try doing a full deployment of the site with the new master page, and it worked fine!  Apparently, if the master page is deployed using a Feature, then it is granted permission to allow code blocks, but if you upload pages either using web UI or SharePoint Designer, then the pages won’t be able to use code blocks. I haven’t been able to pin down the rules or official info about this, but I thought others might find it useful anyway.

• How to diagnose and fix Kernel Panic Fatal Machine Check error?

  I have got a new Samsung Series 7 laptop with dual boot setup for Windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.10. A fine machine comparable to a Macbook Pro. The Ubuntu installation was quite a hassle, but with the help of Boot Repair finally it seemed to work. Or so I thought. Windows 8 starts fine, but if I want to start Ubuntu regularly the following Machine Check Exception error occurs, quite similar to this one [Hardware Error] CPU 1: Machine Check Exception: 5 Bank 6 [Hardware Error] RIP !inexact! 33 <00007fab2074598a> [Hardware Error] TSC 95b623464c ADDR fe400 MISC 3880000086 .. [similar messages for CPU 2,3 and 0] .. [Hardware Error] Machine Check: Processor context corrupt Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal Machine Check Rebooting in 30 seconds Kernel panic does not sound good. Then it starts to reboot, and the second boot trial often works. Is it a Kernel or driver problem? The laptop has an Intel Core i7 processor. I already deactivated Hyperthreading in the BIOS, but it does not seem to help :-( I also disabled the Execute Disable Bit (EDB) flag in the BIOS. EDB is an Intel hardware-based security feature that can help reduce system exposure to viruses and malicious code. Since I disabled it, the error did occur less frequently, but it still appears occasionally :-( It seems to be the same error as described here and here. Maybe a Samsung specific Kernel problem? A similar error also happens on a Samsung Ultrabook Series 9 (which seems to be kernel bugs 49161 and 47121). At my Samsung Series 7, it still occurs for instance during booting on battery after "Checking battery state". Perhaps anyone else has an idea? These Kernel Panic errors are reallly annoying..

  I cannot run an update or indeed run $: apt-get remove due to a dpkg error with a package that's a part of super-boot-manager. Running an update returns: dpkg: error processing burg-theme-minimal-sir (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 I tried removing this package alone, with the same error, also trying to remove super-boot-manager returns: (Reading database ... 225474 files and directories currently installed.)   I need to load a custom cell in a UITableView. I created a custom subclass of UITableViewCell named "CustomTableViewCell". I have added a UITabelViewCell to the tableview (using drag and drop) as shown in figure. Then in file inspector I set the class of that UITabelViewCell to be "CustomTableViewCell".   I downloaded Rhino Security today and started going through some of the tests. Several that run perfectly in isolation start getting errors after one that purposely raises an exception runs though. • Django 'ImproperlyConfigured' error after deployment on google app engine

  Hello, I'm currently trying to get my first django project running on Google App Engine. I followed the instructions given here http://www.allbuttonspressed.com/projects/djangoappengine as best I could. Unfortunately I have run into some issues. Locally everything runs fine, no problems. I then tried to deploy my project to the cloud. This is where I'm totally stuck. I always receive 500 Server Errors coupled with google.appengine.runtime.DeadlineExceededError's. Every now and then I get the following error message in my logs, which I think is the root of the problem : <class 'django.core.exceptions.ImproperlyConfigured'>: ImportError projectyalanda.pricecompare: No module named projectyalanda.pricecompare Obviously something is wrong in the way I reference my django app. Why this is only an issue in the cloud is a mystery to me. The interesting part in the settings.py file is setup as following: INSTALLED_APPS = ( 'djangotoolbox', # 'django.contrib.auth', 'django.contrib.contenttypes', 'django.contrib.sessions', 'projectyalanda.pricecompare', ) I absolutely can't figure out why django/appengine wouldn't be able to find the module, especially since everything works perfectly locally. So where else can I look? The local folder structure is of course also correct as automatically done by django, so maybe something is messed up during deployment? How would I be able to find out?   The situation is this: a friend of mine asked me to help her with a website she's working on called www.KeepsakePartyInvitations.com. Her original designer created this code but didn't finish the project. So here I am to help save the day. Now, once a photo has been added to the party template and the mouse is placed over the image, an alternate text message appears to the right. The message informs the visitor how to reposition and resize the image, if necessary. I'm testing the procedure in the invitation to reposition the image. I follow the directions about moving the picture, but the mouse does not let go of the photo. Where ever the mouse moves, so does the image. The same thing occurs if you want to resize the image, you follow the directions but the image does not resize. I check the error message in IE 8 and it states: Message: Object required Line: 873 Char: 3 Code: 0 URI: http://www.keepsakepartyinvitations.com/Includes/JCode.js When I checked the Javascript file, the Line 873 states: tempX = e.clientX + document.body.scrollLeft If you review the javascript file, the function where the line is located is called: function getMouseXY(e). Please help me, it has been a long while since I've worked with Javascript and I'm motivated to get this fixed. Thank you!

• Git fatal: remote end hung up

  So I thought I had finally got everything setup on Windows ... then ran into this issue. Current setup URL: ssh://user@host:port/myapp.git Already run Putty - and can connect using valid .ppk keys through the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys direct. In Git and TortoiseGIT - I set both to use "plink.exe". Putty works fine - no issues - but when I run that URL into bash I get for a git clone (url) fatal: the remote end hung up expectedly In a cygwin bash terminal - running "ssh user@host" - works no probs at all. Anyone suggest anything?
