  • This PHP/Smarty doesn't work in IE

    I'm starting to get sick of IE's random problems. Page link. (Add things to the cart with the kjøp button and handlevogn) I have this little tiny code here, {foreach $cart.taxes.$currency as $tax} <div id="subTotalCaption2"><p style="width:100px;">{$tax.name_lang}:</p></div> <div id="taxAmount2"><p>{$tax.formattedAmount}</p></div> {/foreach} That's meant to display the amount of total tax for each of the items in the basket. (MVA 25%) This works in every other browser but not IE. Why? Why not? Just why? Any help at all would be very much appreciated.

    Edit #1: I have just discovered this flicker bug affects IE8 (and therefore most likely IE7) as well. I am putting together a pure-CSS dropdown menu (mostly a learning exercise) and have hit a point in IE where the submenu items are flickering as the mouse moves around within the <li> but outside the inner <a>.   • I just don't know what it is, tried everything, IE 7 bug

    Has anyone seen this bug? I have a sidebar with a ul nav background image for the hover state, floated right, looks great in all browsers. Then...I added another div underneath it for ad space. inside, there's an anchored image. That image tucks underneath the background image of the nav, but only in IE7 (i abandoned trying to please ie6). So I took it out of the sidebar, played with float, display,height hacks, but nothing works I can declare a large top margin with some more top padding do get it to clear but it breaks the design. i even tried creating a div called clear and put a top margin there. so it displays with this huge gap in chrome, FF, safari but this tiny space between in IE. i even tried creating a div called clear and put a top margin there. I have spent hours trying to find someone with the same problem but to no avail. Any suggestions?   • IE7 is messing up the z-index property with my subnav (although I've already fixed that!)

    OK, so I had this issue with my jQuery subnav in IE7 where it was scrolling down behind the main content after the header. Did a fair bit of research and found a great fix involving simply applying a z-index value to the header, and one to the main content. All was well. Or so I thought. Turns out IE7 is still messing up the subnav z-index within the header itself. The subnav still drops down behind the tagline, which is also part of the header. Particularly when you hit the subnav on the "Help Now" tab. (again, IE7 only) http://betawww.helpcurenow.org I've applied z-index values to both the subnav and the tagline, but that did not resolve the issue as did adding z-index values for the header and maincontent divs. Any tips? Did I specify my z-index improperly with the subnav? (should I have applied to the parent element?)

  • IE7 & 8 not fireing jQuery click events for elements appended inside a table

    I have an IE bug that I'm not sure how to fix. Using jQuery I'm dynamically moving a menu to appear on an element on mouseover. My code (simplified) looks something like this: $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(document).ready(function() { //do something on the menu clicks $j('div.ico').click(function() { alert($j(this).parent().html()); }); setUpActions('#tableId', '#menuId'); }); //on mouseover set up the actions menu to appear on mouseover function setUpActions(tableSelector, menuSelector) { $j(tableSelector + ' div.test').mouseover(function() { //note that append will move the underlying //DOM element with all events from it's old //parent to the end of this one. $j(this).append($j(menuSelector).show()); }); } This menu doesn't seem to register events correctly for the menu after it's been moved in IE7, IE8 and IE8-as-IE7 (yeah MS, that's really a 'new rendering engine' in IE8, we all believe you). It works as expected in everything else. You can see the behaviour in a basic demo here. In the demo you can see two examples of the issue: The image behind the buttons should change on hover (done with a CSS :hover selector). It works on the first mouseover but then persists. The click event doesn’t fire – however with the dev tools you can manually call it and it is still subscribed. You can see (2) in IE8's dev tools: Open page in IE8 Open dev tools Select "Script" tab and "Console" sub-tab Type: $j('#testFloat div.ico:first').click() to manually call any subscribed events There will be an alert on the page This means that I'm not losing the event subscriptions, they're still there, IE's just not calling them when I click. Does anyone know why this bug occurs (other than just because of IE's venerable engine)? Is there a workaround? Could it be something that I'm doing wrong that just happens to work as expected in everything else?

  • No internet access when VPN connected

    I have an OpenVPN config that I use on my Windows XP box and on my Ubuntu machine. When I use it with my Windows machine, I can connect to the VPN and access sites on the VPN, and the internet as normal. When I use it on my Ubuntu box, when connected to the VPN, I can only access internal sites - No internet access at all. I'm sure there is a way to configure OpenVPN on Ubuntu to allow internet connections, but I can't figure out how.

  • Connected to Access Point but no internet connection?

    I am trying to use my school's WPA Enterprise network to access the internet with my Three-OS laptop. I currently have Windows7, Ubuntu11.10 and Backtrack5 installed. I can use my home's WPA2 network without any issues with the 3 OS. I can successfully connect to my school's network with the 3 OS but I can only browse the internet with windows7. Ubuntu network-manager and Backtrack WICD both say that I am connected to the Acces Point but I cannot browse the internet. I have tried uninstalling network-manager and installing WICD but it did not solve the problem. Every time I connect to the Access Point, I am able to browse the internet for about 10 seconds. I have tried disabling IPV6 I have tried changing DNS.

    The situation: There a collapsible advanced search box. It is made up of a search box div that contains a boxhead div and a boxbody div. Inside the boxbody div, there is a searchToggle div. When the user clicks "Show/Hide", the display style property of the searchToggle div is toggled between block and none. (The search fields are hidden and the search boxbody gets much smaller). The 2 background-images for the body of the search box are set via the css of the searchBox div and the boxbody div. In IE7, when the searchToggle div is hidden, the background-image from the searchBox div extends on the left more than it should (see Here). It shows up correctly when the display of the searchToggle div is block (see Here). Everything show up correctly, in both cases, in IE8 and FF.   • Internet Not Working... Initially Worked fine

    I am using an HP Pavilion desktop, not sure of exact model, etc. Initially saucy looked and worked great. It's my parents, and after two days of no issues, they started having more than a few. The mostly use the internet to access email and videos. I believe Google Chrome was the only application they used. Then, the internet stopped working. Restarting didn't fix it, neither did turning the internet on and off. The computer went from lightening fast to inexplicably slow. I've read some other posts about the internet not working, but none seemed applicable. Any suggestions?
