• Disable link in UIWebView in appearance and function

  Hello, I wish to disable the href links on a UIWebView. First, I want the look of the link to change so the user doesn't think it is clickable. Second, I want the actual link to not be able to be tapped. I do not want to try webView:shouldStartLoadWithRequest:navigationType: since that not change the appearance of my links. I found this answer: Disabling visible links in UIWebView But the above hasn't worked for me. • Obj-c Turning long string into multidimensional array

  I have a long NSString, something like "t00010000t00020000t00030000" and so on. I need to split that up into each "t0001000". I'm using... NSArray *tileData = [[GameP objectForKey:@"map"] componentsSeparatedByString:@"t"]; And it splits it up, but the "t" is missing, which I need (although I think I could append it back on). The other way I guess would be to split it up by counting 8 char's, although not sure how to do that. But ideally I need it split into a [][] type array so I can get to each bit with something like... NSString tile = [[tileData objectAtIndex:i] objectAtIndex:j]]; I'm new to obj-c so thanks for any help.

• iOS Development: Why isn't my try block catching the exception?

  Hi. I have an exception being thrown in my code, but when I wrap it in an try/catch block, it doesn't get caught. The NSLog statement is never called in the catch block. Here's the code... • UILabel with custom font displays *wrong* custom font

  I'm using this method to embed custom fonts in my iPhone app. The embedding works: When I run the following code, the fonts are listed. (Currently, I'm embedding all family members of Myriad Pro in OTF format) for( NSString *familyName in [UIFont familyNames] ){ for( NSString *fntName in [UIFont fontNamesForFamilyName:familyName] ){ NSLog(@"%@", fntName); }} When I try to set the font of a label to MyriadPro or MyriadPro-Bold, this works just as expected. However, when I set the font to MyriadPro-BoldCond, the label is still set in MyriadPro-Bold instead of the condensed version. (The font names are correct, I checked.) My Code: [recommendationLabel setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"MyriadPro-BoldCond" size:140]]; recommendationLabel.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = YES; What's the deal?

• GKSession sendDataToAllPeers getting invalid parameter

  This is my first post and I wanted to start it by thanking the many stackoverflow contributors who will never know how much they helped me out these past several days as I worked to complete my first iOS app. I am indebted to them and to this site for giving them a place to post. To 'pay off' some of that debt, I hope this will help others as I have been helped... So, my app uses the GKPeerPickerController to make a connection to a 2nd device. Once connected, the devices can send text messages to each other. The receiving peer has the message displayed in a UIAlertView. Everything was working fine. Then I decided to experiment with locations and added code to get the current location. I convert it into latitude & longitude in degrees, minutes, and seconds and put them into one NSString. I added a button to my storyboard called 'Send Location' which, when tapped, sends the location to the connected peer. This is where I ran into the problem. Both the send text and send location methods call the sendPacket method with a NSString. sendPacket converts the string to NSData and calls sendDataToAllPeers. When I learned how to capture the error, it was "Invalid parameter for - sendDataToAllPeers:withDataMode:error:". [.....pause.....] Well, this was going to be a question but in writing all this to explain the problem, the answer just dawned on me. Did a few tests and verified it now works. The issue was not in sendDataToAllPeers, it was in the conversion of the NSString (strToSend) to NSData: packet = [strToSend dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; Specifically, it was the degree sign character (little circle, ASCII 176). NSASCIIStringEncoding only includes ASCII characters up to 127 so don't use any above that. I'm sure there was a quicker way to find the problem, but I don't know Objective-C or Xcode's debugging facility well enough yet. Whew! Several hours to discover that little tidbit. I did learn a lot, though, and that's always a good thing!

"<Annotation: 0x586cdb0>" Now this is a weird question, but how do I get the info from this Annotation? I have lost my mind.   Hello all, I am trying this for an iPhone app in Xcode: create html code for a website on the fly sending it to a php-script and getting the response with this code: NSError * error = [[[NSError alloc]init]autorelease]; NSURL * phpURL = [NSURL URLWithString: @"http://www.mydomain.com/myscript.php?mywebsite= (...websitestring...) ];NSString * myResponse = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:phpURL encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&error]; It does not work. It should not be a problem of the php code because when I replace the websitestring which contains the html code with "hello" or something, this is accepted. (the script then creates a file "test.html" with the content I sent.) But when I put html code in it, I always get the error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=256 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (Cocoa error 256.)" UserInfo=0x322ec10 {} It seems that there are some things to consider when sending code to php? Thanks in advance!

  I have an class method which generates an UIView, like this: + (UIImage*)imageWithFileName:(NSString*)imgFile { UIImage *img = nil; NSBundle *appBundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *resourcePath = [appBundle pathForResource:imgFile ofType:nil]; if (resourcePath != nil) { NSURL *imageURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:resourcePath]; NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:imageURL]; img = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; // should be autoreleased!! [data release]; } return img; } However, when I use this, the image data is NEVER freed. There is definitely a memory bug with this, although I didn't break any memory management rule I am aware of. My guess is that because this is a class method which gets called from instance methods, There is no active autorelease pool in place or it's one that only gets drained when I quit the app. Could that be right?

  I've got a couple of Core Data-generated class files that I'd like to add custom methods to. I don't need to add any instance variables. How can I do this?   I have a method that returns an NSRange. When I call this method from outside the class I get a compile error. The compiler says 'incompatible types in assignment'. Can anyone explain this to me? I assume it has to do with returning an NSRange/struct type value generated outside the object, but I don't know why it works in one place and not the other.

  I have a picker that prompts the user to choose a gender and an age group (17-21, 22-26, etc.) These 2 choices determine which view the user will be brought to after pressing the button, but I am having troubles writing the method for that button.
