  • Kernel source version number does not match

    I am using Ubuntu 11.10. When I type 'uname -r' in the terminal, I get: 3.0.0-15-generic I want to download the kernel source for the particular kernel version I am running. When I look on kernel.org, and then look inside kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.0/ I can only find source tarballs by the name of linux-3.0.x.tar.gz. My 'uname -r' has an extra '0' in it. Am I looking in the wrong place? Is my kernel not a mainline one?

  • Why use other number bases when programming

    My coworkers and I have been bending our minds to figuring out why anyone would go out of their way to program numbers in a base other than base 10. I suggested that perhaps you could optimize longer equations by putting the variables in the correct base you are working with (for instance, if you have only sets of 5 of something with no remainders you could use base 5), but I'm not sure if that's true. Any thoughts?

  • Can I set a hyperlink's display text from a document property?

    I'm trying to make a word document customizable through a document property that contains the base URL of all the links. I've managed to make the links themselves reference the document property like this: { HYPERLINK { QUOTE "http://{ DOCPROPERTY Host}/some/path" } } Changing the document property and updating the files makes the hyperlinks point to the correct URL. However, visually, nothing changes - the old URL is still shown as the display text of the hyperlink. Is there a way to make this work? Microsoft docs helpfully state You can edit the display text for the field by typing over it. but I can't figure out how that is supposed to work - even if I manually type over the hyperlink, it includes the edits in the field code instead of adjusting the display text. Currently attempting in Word 2002, but 2010 also available.

    Lately I've been doing a lot of debugging using the System Output tracing in WebCenter Content 11g.  This is built-in tracing in the content server which provides a great level of detail on what's happening under the hood.  You can access the settings as well as a view of the tracing by going to Administration -> System Audit Information.  From here, you can select the tracing sections to include.  Some of my personal favorites are searchquery,  systemdatabase, userstorage, and indexer.  Usually I'm trying to find out some information regarding a search, database query, or user information.  Besides debugging, it's also very helpful for performance tuning.   • Finding maximum number of congruent numbers

    Let's say we have a multiset (set with possible duplicates) of integers. We would like to find the size of the largest subset of the multiset such that all numbers in the subset are congruent to each other modulo some m 1. For example: 1 4 7 7 8 10 for m = 2 the subsets are: (1, 7, 7) and (4, 8, 10), both having size 3. for m = 3 the subsets are: (1, 4, 7, 7, 10) and (8), the larger set of size 5. for m = 4 the subsets are: (1), (4, 8), (7, 7), (10), the largest set of size 2. At this moment it is evident that the best answer is 5 for m = 3. Given m we can find the size of the largest subset in linear time. Because the answer is always equal or larger than half of the size of the set, it is enough to check for values of m upto median of the set. Also I noticed it is necessary to check for only prime values of m. However if values in the set are large the algorithm is still rather slow. Does anyone have any ideas how to improve it?

  • Split large file, have arbitrary start index number

    I do a lot of file manipulation on my system and in one particular batch job I end up with around 16 Gb file. I need to prepare this data into smaller chunks for another process. I split it into 10k lines per file and numeric index, padded to 5 digits split -a 5 -d -l 10000 large_input_file /out_path/out. This way I end up with files named out.00000 out.00001 ... The problem is that this way indexing always starts with 0. Is there a way to set it to arbitrary starting index? man reveals nothing ...

If not, how I found? I don't pretend to be general; booting my notebook will be good enough, without compromise further refinements.

    I have a very large SVN repository (working copy of several gb) that has just reached its 20,000th checkin. As a bit of an interesting statistic for our team (and to partly celebrate our 20,000th checkin) I'd like to make a graph showing which folders in the repository have had the most checkins. Is there any way to do this? We mostly use integrated SVN clients in our IDE and Tortoise SVN, but I'm willing to get other tools for this one-off thing.

    I have an animation of traffic. I have 20 cars in road network, each car have a starting node and end node. Each car know how much distance does it need to travel in order to reach the end node. I move cars each 20 ms for 10 px. To move all cars from their start node to end node I need 60 iterations. That is 60*20ms = 1200ms. Now I want to convert this time, or use data that I have, to a real time where car move 50km/h. How can I do that? Any idea?

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to indent a nested bullet point in a table cell the proper way?

    Open Word and insert a table (1 x 1 will work just fine). Right-click in the table and, in the context menu, select "Bullets" and a bullet image from the bullet library. Type something and press enter. Type something else, but, instead of clicking enter, right-click and select "Increase Indent" Notice something else moves into the proper indentation of a nested bullet: Outside of a Word table, you would simply press tab to get this behavior, but I want a keyboard shortcut (if available) to do this inside the table. This is what I've tried: Ctrl + Tab: Just indents the text, not the bullet Ctrl + T: Same as Ctrl + Tab Ctrl + M: Indents the text and the bullet but does not change the bullet style Can this be done outside the right-click context menu?

    Sometimes it can be for example 4500 requests, after a few hours it shows a few thousand less. What is wrong? It looks like analytics corrects itself. I changed from classic to Universal a few months ago, do not know if it has anything to do with this. Gnome3 offers the possibility to switch to (or start) an application by typing the app name. KDE allows this with krunner.     I am attempting to subtract two int arrays, stored as class members, using an overloaded - operator, but I'm getting some peculiar output when I run tests. The overload definition is Number& Number :: operator-(const Number& NumberObject) { for (int count = 0; count < NumberSize; count ++) { Value[count] -= NumberObject.Value[count]; } return *this; } Whenever I run tests on this, NumberObject.Value[count] always seems to be returning a zero value.     Ok right , i asked how to create a random number from 1-100 for android and i came to this TextView tv = new TextView(this); int random = (int)Math.ceil(Math.random()*101); tv.setText("Your Number Is..."+ random ); What this does is create the default kinda "hello world" style text view and says "Your Number Is.... [Then Random Number] My problem is that i cant change the layout of this text , because it is not defined in XML, if someone could tell me how to change the style , or like make the random number into a string so i could use it for any Textview layout that would be great .. Given this, i have 2 questions: Is there any other alternative for hosting a word document in a Windows Form apart from using the DSOFramer.ocx component? If i move to Windows 64 bit operating system, and run the windows form as a native 64 bit process, then how do I host the word document in a 64 bit process?
