  • Change default mouse cursor on OSX Mavericks

    Is there any way to change the default mouse cursor on OSX Mavericks? More precisely, I'd like to make it look like in windows, and even more precisely I want to move the 'point' where the mouse cursor actually 'clicks' - on windows it's on the very end of the arrow, even outside of it, and on mac it's a little inside the arrow. I've done some research, and all the websites either tell me to get Mighty Mouse, which doesn't work on my system, and other's tell me how to change the size of my cursor.

  • Chroot within chroot

    I'm using Centos 5.2 and when I try to make a chroot jail using the script, I get: Copying libraries for /usr/bin/scp. (0x00007fff17bfe000) cp: cannot stat `(0x00007fff17bfe000)': No such file or directory ... I am currently using on a rackspace cloud server so i suspect that these dependencies are outside of my own root. Does anyone have a better idea for jailing the sftp server on a cloud server using Centos 5.2?

  • Remapping the Windows key in Parallels

    I'm running XP on Parallels 4 for Mac, and it's working well enough, however one thing that's bothering me more and more as I go along is the way it constantly assumes every press of the command key means I want the start menu to come up. I've tried to remap it in the Parallels preferences, but all that does is allow me to create additional ways to call the start menu. Is there a setting either within XP or somewhere outside that I can set to discourage this behavior?

  • Apple Airport Extreme and PS3/PSP remote play

    I have not been able to get remote play over internet working through my AEBS. I have fiddled around with countless settings and also tried to telnet into the router, to no avail. The setup works fine inside the netowrk (I can remotely turn on my PS3 wirelessly using my PSP). However, outside the home network I cannot get it to work. Any help would be most appreciated.

    In a Port Forwarding guide I have read I should set port forwarding on my ADSL modem and disable its firewall. Until I did both of this, my torrent client was not visible as a server from outside. However, I am unsure what implications disabling firewall has and why it is needed. Can anyone explain this?

  • SBS domain name choice

    We are about to set up SBS 2011 at my small company < 10 users. My collaborator wants to name the SBS domain "example.local" . I'm of the opinion we should name the SBS domain "corp.example.com" and setup DNS so the "corp" record is a NS record to the SBS server's private IP. FYI: "Example.com" isn't the real domain name and while the website is hosted outside our office, email will be stored on the SBS server in our office after passing though a spam filtering smart host hosted elsewhere too.

  • Can't VNC into my OSX machine from my Windows machine

    Hi, I'm trying to access my OSX (snow leopard) machine from my Windows 7 machine. Both machines are within my local network I don't need outside access. I'm using Vine Server (OSXvnc) for OSX and TightVNC Viewer for Windows, but TightVNC keeps telling me that the host is unreachable. Any idea what could be wrong? how could I troubleshoot this kind of issue? Appreciate your help.

    is it possible to connect to an SSH server only accessible from inside a network, using a Windows machine without SSH as a gateway?. Let me clarify my question with a sketch: Me (Linux machine)--- WIN (Windows without SSHD)---LIN (Linux with SSHD). Machine Me, is the PC I'm using to connect to LIN through WIN. WIN is accessible from the outside, it has an RDESKTOP port open, and LIN is only accessible from inside the network. Hope you understand the question.

    Recently I've become very interested in setting up a fileserver, mostly for home usage but also because of the fact that I live in 2 places, I need to be able to access my files from both homes. I have already done some research into this but I am unclear about some things. My requirements are the following; Needs to work on both Mac and PC(only using Windows atm on PC but could be good if it supports more OS's to make it futureproof in case I need Linux or something else) Need to be able to set up a folder/drive/network space to act as a link to a certain folder on the fileserver All files should only be stored on the fileserver, e.g. no "shared" folders like in Dropbox where files are stored on the client computer Would prefer it if folders are password protected or that I can somehow specify what users can access the fileserver's shares Fileserver's OS most likely have to be Windows due to other factors outside of being just a fileserver I've already kinda figured out that I will need to set up a VPN so that I can access my fileserver from outside the local network. Probably going to use OpenVPN. Question 1: How would I go about to set up a VPN server so that I can connect to my local network at the fileserver's location? I know that since I'm on a dynamic IP I will have to get some sort of dynamic DNS server - I've already checked into this and I'm fairly sure I know how to fix that. I also know that I will have to forward the port OpenVPN uses in my router. Question 2: How would I actually share the folders on the fileserver so that I can access them on my other computers? I've researched into Samba but I'm uncertain if it needs to be run on a Linux OS. I know that the clients connecting to it can be Windows for example but can the Samba "server" be run on Windows? Also it appears that Samba shares a folder, meaning it works like Dropbox - I don't want that. So how would I share a folder in that case to make it work like I want it to? Sorry for the incredibly long question, I tried to structure it the best I could for easier read. Thanks in advance!

    I can record narration with PowerPoint 2010, but it seems that it will only embed it into the presentation file. Older versions of PowerPoint allowed the audio to be saved as external sound files. I'd like to perform noise-reduction and minor editing outside of PowerPoint. Has Microsoft removed the "link narrations" option from PowerPoint 2010?

    For testing purposes, I've found it's really useful to point whatever.machineIP.mydomain.com to 192.168.1.machineIP : that way we can test each other's code without fidgetting with hosts files. I'm aware that this identifies our local IP addresses to the outside world, but if someone could access the network, it'd be trivial to sniff which of the local IP addresses respond to port 80 anyway.     All I want is be able to use flash and javascript while using Tor (I don't intend to use it for torrents) Normally, using flash with Tor is not recommended because firefox plugins run outside of the sandbox, so the browser's proxy settings don't apply to them, and can reveal your real IP. But I think it should be possible to also redirect flash to the same socket as the browser, and block the other outgoing ports just in case. Any ideas on how to do this?

Everything else should only be accessibly via http://localhost/ for various privacy/security reasons. It is just a test server, don't want just anybody accessing my large batch files. How would you go about allowing only certain select files access to the internet and making everything else available only via http://localhost/?

  • Open ports broken from internal network

    Quick summary: Forwarded port works from the outside world, but from the internal network using the external IP the connection is refused. This is a simplified situation to make the explanation easier: I have a computer that is running a service on port 12345. This computer has an internal IP 192.168.1.100 and is connected directly to a modem/router which has internal IP 192.168.1.1 and external (public, static) IP 1.2.3.4. (The router is TP-LINK TD-w8960N) I have set up port forwarding (virtual server) at port 12345 to go to port 12345 at 192.168.1.100. If I run telnet 192.168.1.100 12345 from the same computer everything works. But running telnet 1.2.3.4 12345 says connection refused. If I do this on another computer (on the same internal network, connected to the router) the same thing happens. This would seem like the port forwarding is not working. However... If I run a online port checking service on my external IP and the service port it says the port is open and I can see the remote server connecting and immediately closing connection. And using another computer that is connected to the internet using a mobile connection I can also use telnet 1.2.3.4 12345 and I get a working connection. So the port forwarding seems to be working, however using external IP from the internal network doesn't. I have no idea what can be causing this, since another setup very much like this (different router) works for me. I can access a service running on a server from inside the network both through the internal and external IP. Note: I know I could just use the internal IP inside of the network to access this service. But if I have a laptop that must be able to do this both from inside and outside it would be annoying to constantly switch between 1.2.3.4 and 192.168.1.100 in the software configuration.   • Configure POP3 Connector for SBS 2008 (Exchange 2007)

    I have a client which has all his mail on server outside of his company. Right now his exchange server (on SBS 2008 is configured using POP3 connector but problem is mail gets deleted from server when downloaded by connector. Is there a way to make pop3 connector leave emails on server (external one) and download them as well for use within Exchange. Client wants to "feel" exchange before making the move totally so he would like to play with it for longer while without loosing mails he has on his server.
