  Hello, I have been writing articles on the wordpress.com blog, now i am looking to move it to self-hosted wordpress blog but i wonder: 1) Should i move all my articles on the new blog or just put an article on my last blog that more articles will be posted on my new blog? 2) If i move all articles on my new blog, i am not sure about how google will react to it because there are articles with good number of visitors, won't this be seo-un-friendly because i am not sure but google will re-create page reputation stuff, etc or those articles will have same popularity even if i move elsewhere? 3) What are the implications and side-effects in moving from wordpress.com blog to self-hosted wordpress blog? • Index page content identical to page 1 of a gallery-type website

  I have a gallery type website, e.g. a site that lists blog posts or pictures in a paginated manner. However, I have 2 pages that have identical content: example.com/index.html example.com/page/1 Page 2, 3 and so on have different content naturally. However, for SEO purposes, what is the best way of telling Google that page 1 is identical to index.html? Should I 302 redirect index.html to /page/1 so index.html is non-existent, so to say or should I put a canonical tag in /page/1 (but not on /page/2) that points to index.html?

• Would using AJAX only "Add to Cart" buttons be wise?

  I want to AJAX enable all of my Add To Cart buttons because search engine bots are indexing these and not paying attention to my robots file or site map. I just don't want to loose potential customers. I have seen a number of top sites using heavily JavaScript support content, including Amazon, is it OK to follow the trend? The rest of my site progressively degrades, but I would really like to implement this because of the benefits to the customer (instant satisfaction), my infrastructure (constant page rebuilds), and allowing me to use SEO tools to optimize without the tool picking up thousands of "Add to Cart" widgets in my catalog.   When linking pages, does google give higher value to href="http://www.mydomain.com" than href="/"? I am wondering because I have heard that (for SEO) it is better to provide the full http address when linking to the sites homepage. As I thought about it, I wondered why that would be. Would google really assign higher value to href="http://www.mydomain.com" instead of href="/"? They both mean the same thing. Do you guys know or have any resources on this?

• Do backlinks to blocked content add value?

  We've been debating the following SEO question at our office: If you block bot access to a page either via robots.txt or on-page noindex metadata, does that negate the value of any backlinks to that page? We have a client who wants to block some event booking form pages from being indexed as each booking form page has a unique URL parameter and the pages are "clogging up" the Google index; however lots of websites link to those booking form pages and we wouldn't want to lose the value of those links. Any opinions welcomed.

• Price comparison sites and its effect on Google ranking

  I am the webmaster of a website that contains roughly 10,000 products. I would be possibly interested to index those products in a price comparison site like PriceGrabber, Nextag, Shopbot, etc. The principle of price comparison sites is great for an actual user that want to compare prices but my main concern is the effect it could have on my actual ranking on Google... Since a site like Shopbot uses a CPC model (Cost-per-click), all the links on the website are builted to track clicks (IE: http://www.shopbot.ca/r.html?i=3&catc=2&refshop=5706&refshopcodeid=42587349), it uses redirection, no direct links (So no direct backlinking). In your opinion and/or experience, is this a smart, business wise, seo wise move or not? THANKS!

• To have multiple sites with similar content on the same server but different IPs?

  I have 7 different sites on the same dedicated server. Two major sites have different IPs, and 5 small share the same IP. About first 2 they have similar content, but not the same. Basically they have different: URLs Titles Meta Data But they both have the same niche. I was thinking about two strategies. One is to move one of the sites (from 2 first one) on different server or move 5 other sites on different server. But I'm not sure which way is better. My questions are: Wouldn't be better from SEO stand point, to move those 2 sites on different servers? Does it worth it to spend for additional server? Do you know if Google penalize sites for similar content on the same server with different IPs?

  I am reading documentation about my CMS and it states that an HTML page <title> tag is really important in SEO. It states that the Google Spider gives the most relevance to the first 68 characters of a site title. (68 characters being the number of characters that Google will display in it's search engine result pages,) Can anyone verify this is still true? I read in The Information Diet that content farms were getting too good at gaming Google's algorithm for collecting and posting SERPs and so google had to change the search algorithm.

• Which one is better? To have link on one page or on all pages?

  I have a website: http://www.amenajari-gradini-mures.ro and I will put links on http://www.casesigradini.ro . I would like to know which one is better from the point of view of SEO: - to have one single link on the homepage OR - to have a link on every page (about 48000 pages) ? Right now I got my link up on every page. But if it's better to have it on one page only (or maybe on few main pages ) then i'll take it out the rest. Please give some arguments for your answers. Each of those pages has many outlinks to other end-pages. Currently I have a XML sitemap which directs crawlers to all the end pages. I'm trying to add a silo sitemap directory to improve SEO. Assuming this is the right direction I have a couple of options: end pages sorted alphabetically. Pages by major search filters, and then divide alphabetically. Pages for every filter and cross option between them and the sort-by. Which would you recommend and why? NOTE: I'm not referring to a XML sitemap.

It gives a facebook like button, google plus button, etc... by default. were as in other articles of different modules i had integrated the facebook like by myself by following the documentation (including markup in the head section) What is the difference in adding manually with many markups and using third party code?   We have a large database of items which are viewable as individual items (they are plants) (url example http://www.plantify.co.uk/Abelia-chinensis/plant-5087) or in a list view (url example http://www.plantify.co.uk/page-1/plant). There is a link on the individual page to the list view. We want to index in google for the term Abelia chinensis. My question revolves around the list view and its impact on SEO. When I write a post on my blog, I automatically send trackback to my site from http://bitacoras.com. The above link is dofollow. Is it advisable to give relevance to this link in also handling dofollow link? For example any domain. on the homepage has pagerank 3. This site has a pagerank 0 of the internal page that I send trackbacks to. Is it convenient to send dofollow links to that page to increase the pagerank? Will they increase my pagerank if I perform this operation?

  As all SEOs know that google is trying its very best to kill SEO and linkbacks are quite a difficult task now. Although content is the key but my boss is still possessed with linkbacks. I can not do directory posting, link exchange, paid linking, web 2.0 and blog commenting as they are spam now. I do not see what other choice i have except forum posting and article posting. Can someone suggest new method to acquire link backs ?   My logs are full of bot visitors, often from Eastern Europe and China. The bots are identified as Ahrefs, Seznam, LSSRocketCrawler, Yandex, Sogou and so on. Should I block these bots from my site and why? Which ones have a legitimate purpose in increasing traffic to my site? Many of them are SEO. I have to say I see less traffic if anything since the bots have arrived in large numbers. It would not be too hard to block these since they all admit in their User Agent that they are bots.

  I'm considering implementing slugs in my blog. My blog uses MongoDB. One of the side-effects of using MongoDB is that it uses relatively long hex string IDs.   Currently we have Canadian versions of some websites. We are going to create some American versions, which essentially have everything the same, except the search results are geo-specific to the USA. The format for the results page title and descriptions will remain the same, ie {0} in {1} | Find more {0} etc etc etc... {1}. The search term will most-likely be the same between both sites. Will the relative similarity in the page titles and descriptions between the CDN and USA sites have any negative SEO impact, where the geo location would be the most significant difference?

Our company website is pretty awful, I'm currently redesigning the new one, the problem is they have a directory called regions, which contains page for around 200 different locations around the country, all stuffed to the brim with keywords and useless things. Some of these pages work and the traffic's good enough to keep a few of them. Apart from creating a page for everyone again, is there another way of targeting all these locations without having to create a new page for each or is the a more dynamic way to do it? Any ideas or suggestions?
