• Are there videocamera which geotag individual frames?

  I'm looking for a way to record live video with the specific requirement of having each frame georeferenced with GPS. Right now I'm using a normal video camera with a PDA+GPS that records the position, but it's difficult to sync both of these plus sometimes I've forgotten to turn the PDA+GPS or it has failed for some reason and all my video has been useless. Using google I found that about two years ago a company named Seero produced such video cameras and software, but apparently the domain doesn't exist any more and I only find references of other pages mentioning it. Does somebody know of any other product? I need to record this video in HD and have some way to export to Google Maps or other GIS software the positions of the frames in a way that I can click on the map and see what was being recorded in the video at that point. The precission of the GPS tracking is good enough as one position per second, intermediate frames of the video stream can be interpolated.

• Can Windows 7, Vista, or XP notify me after 30 minutes, or at 2:30pm?

  Come to think about it, since Windows 3.0, Windows 95, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, and Windows 7, does any Windows have a capability of giving a "beep beep" notification to me, let's say I need to go meet somebody after 30 minutes? Or give a "beep beep" at 2:30pm? I hope to hear some sound instead of a pop up window as I may be writing something on the desk instead of looking at the computer. I usually don't want to install 3rd party app for this purpose, as you never know what the app does or how trustworthy it is if it is not a popular app (like Firefox or Safari). Does any version of Windows come with that capability? I'd imagine it is an app that takes two days to write.

• Make a file non-deletable in USB

  Somebody used my USB drive and upon returning it to me, I found a autorun.inf that is undeletable. I tried changing it's file attribute which is only H (not even set as a system file) but it keeps on saying Access Denied. The USB is set on FAT32, upon asking my friend, he told me that he uses Panda USB Vaccine http://research.pandasecurity.com/Panda-USB-and-AutoRun-Vaccine/ How do they do this? Im trying to use some Disk Sector editor but have no idea which hex file they change to make this kind of file and make it deletable again. Formatting the drive removes it, but I'm curious as to how to be able to set those kind of file attribute.

• Owner of uploads directory is `www-data` but this prevents FTP access via PHP scripts

  To allow write access to Apache, I needed to chown www-data:www-data /var/www/mysite/uploads to my site's upload folder. This allows me to delete files from the folder via unlink() in a PHP script. Unfortunately, this prevents another PHP script, which uses FTP functions, from working. I think it is because the FTP user is mike and now that the uploads directory is owned by www-data, mike cannot access it. I added mike to the group www-data, but this does not fix the issue. Can somebody advise me on how to allow PHP FTP functions to work in addition to file deletion using PHP's unlink() function?

• X11 for apache user

  We are using inkscape to convert SVG images uploaded to our server via a web form. For this inkscape offers a batch mode via the -z option, but this batch mode has a flaw: When inkscape is run by the apache user, it breaks saying $ inkscape -z -W drawing.svg X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication. The application 'inkscape' lost its connection to the display localhost:11.0; most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed the application. If you do the same as a normal user you also get errors: Xlib: connection to "localhost:11.0" refused by server Xlib: PuTTY X11 proxy: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 data did not match (inkscape:24050): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_display_list_devices: assertion `GDK_IS_DISPLAY (display)' failed 301.27942 But at least inkscape gives the correct answer (here the number stating the width of the image). Does somebody know how to make this also work for the apache user? Does it make sense to authorize apache to use X (if so how)? In any case it doesn't feel like the right solution...

• Recycle remote IIS app pool from the command line?

  Is it possible to recycle an IIS7 app pool from the command line, on a different machine? I've found APPCMD (appcmd recycle apppool my-app-pool), but it only operates on the host it's run on, AFAICT. I heard a rumor there might be a way to do it with Powershell, but I know nothing about that, and I'm apparently not very good at googling for it. I'm using Vista / Server 2008, if that matters. EDIT: I found something called WinRM that somebody claims is able to run APPCMD itself, but I'm not sure exactly how, yet.

• How to make phone calls using a phone

  Hi, I have a phone landline connection and I DO NOT have a phone instrument. I connect the cable into my laptop, and want to make calls using my laptop. I have an HDA CX20561 modem. I seem to be able to dial number using dialer.exe, though nothing seems to happen. From Microsoft kb http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958143, it looks like dialer.exe alone is not enough for the call. Can somebody tell me how to make and receive phone call with whatever hardware I have, i.e. what software will I need. Thanks.

  hi,.. Can somebody help in understanding how Lun Provisioning is done in clariion based on client requirement. Say, a client needs one 50 GB space on the host( for application) ,two -350 GBs ( for DB and stuff) on the same host and i have 4 raid groups with space of 200 GB in one 50 GB in second and 400 GB and 400GB in rest two all having 5 disks. And , I 'm using Raid 5 only. How do i provision keeping performance in mind( so that performance hit is not there)?..And i need to understand the concept of meta head as well. Please help me by elaborating the above scenario..I am learning to provision storage in non productive environment( b'fore going ahead and working on client prod server) and i have been learning a lot from SF ...I request the seniors here to help me understand it better. • Canon LiDE 600F FAU on Snow Leopard?

  I have been able to use my Canon LiDE 600F scanner under Snow Leopard to scan paper sheet, after installing Canon's latest driver software. However, I cannot find a way to make the FAU (Film Adaptor Unit) to work: Canon's software want to calibrate it first and gives an error message "Calibration cannot be performed. Pull out the film. 182.0.0". (of course there is no film). Hamrick's VueScan doesn't seem to support the FAU Apple's Image Capture doesn't propose a film option either Did I miss something? Did somebody manage to scan film (positive or negative) using the LiDE 600F under Snow Leopard? Many thanks

• Thunderbird Reply2All mistake when having two addresses

  I have a Gmail account and a second email address. The mail from this second address is forwarded to the Gmail address. I use Thunderbird to read my email, but there's a little problem with the Reply2All feature. See, I have one of the addresses registered as my email address in Thunderbird. If somebody sends me an email on the other address, and I click reply 2 all, it doesn't recognize that address as mine, so it adds it to the recipient list - I am mailing myself. Anything I can do to fix this? Some way to let TB recognize both addresses?

• cannot install matplotlib, freetype2 headers are ignored

  I want to install matplotlib via pip. There is a problem with freetype2.h REQUIRED DEPENDENCIES numpy: 1.6.2 freetype2: found, but unknown version (no pkg-config) * WARNING: Could not find 'freetype2' headers in any * of '.', './freetype2'. Somebody had a similar problem ( How to install matplotlib on OS X?), and it was suggested to install pkg-config first. I did that with macports, but I still get the same warning. I used find to look for the headers, and they are definitely present in: /opt/X11/include/ft2build.h /usr/X11/include/ft2build.h How can I use those files to install matplotlib?

• Cannot access any remote resource after connecting to Cisco VPN on Vista

  I have installed Cisco vpn client version 5.0.07.0290 on Vista Business SP2. I am able to successfully connnect to the vpn. But after connecting I am not able to access any resource in the vpn (like database, other computers in the network etc.). I have tried the following without any success : Older versions of the client Other vpn clients like Shrewsoft : same issue as the cisco vpn client Disabled Internet Connection Sharing service Installed the client in the root administrator account Run the installer as administrator Run the vpngui and ipsecdialer in XP compatibility mode and as administrator I am not sure how to troubleshoot this issue. Can somebody please help me in troubleshooting this issue? P.S : I've Zonealarm firewall, can that be an issue?

• Check IMAP via PHP for mesages in order to interact with them via PHP?

  I use Google to administer my e-mails and I run Nginx + PHP. If I want to check incoming mail to interact with each message subject (to trigger an action), as far as I know, I have only two options: 1) access Google via IMAP PHP / cron job or 2) forward the messages to my server where I can have a subdomain set to pipe the messages to a PHP script. Frankly, I'd preffer the first option because I have already all the IMAP functions tested and done. And if the second solution is really the best, I'd preffer to use Postfix. However, id like some light grom somebody who has already browsed this unknown waters. Thank you.

• Host not visible in ECC after pushing master agent on server

  Hi all!! ECC master Agent has been pushed to one of the servers.. Once a Master Agent installed the host should appear within ECC.However, I am unable to see the host. I asked the Server team to stop and start the master agent ,and to check whether required port is enabled, so that server can talk with ECC server. After restarting the service I get an error.I even checked if the port is used by any other service ,it is not.. Somebody plz help what should done here..it’s a Windows server. Here's the error:- "The EMC control Center Master agent service on local computer atrted and the stopped.Some services stopped automatically if they 've no work to do,for example prformance logs and alert services" Thanks in advance!!

• Memeory Leak in Windows Page file when calling a shell command

  I have an issue on our Windows 2003 x64 Build Server when invoking shell commands from a script. Each call causes a "memory leak" in the page file so it grows quite rapidly until it reaches the maximum and the machine stops working. I can reproduce the problem very nicely by running a perl script like for ($count=1; $count<5000; $count++) { system "echo huhu"; } It is independent of he scripting language as the same happens with lua: for i=1,5000 do os.execute("echo huhu") end I found somebody describing the same issue with php at http://www.issociate.de/board/post/454835/Memory_leak_occurs_when_exec%28%29_function_is_used_on_Windows_platform.html His solution: Firewall/Virus Scanner does not apply, neither are running on the machine. We can also reproduce the issue on other Developer Machines running XP 64, but not on XP 32 Bit. The guilty guy for the allocation is C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs which runs all the basic Windows services. Does anybody know the issue and how to resolve it ?

• Users in ubuntu; Cant figure it out

  I am the only one who will have access to my website. Just installed my VPS and managed to get most stuff working. However, stuck on the "members" part. Currently, everything has been done as "root". I have read posts that I should create a user, because root isn't ideal. I have found thousand guides on how to create a user, but now what to do next. 1- Should I create a user with adduser username and then add the user to a group? But which group? 2- And will the user then be able to do everything as I have done logged on as "root"? 3- And somebody plz explain what "sudo" has to do with this? (if anything at all) Thanks

• Why does VirtualBox want my attention every morning?

  I'm running Vista 64-bit Ultimate on this PC. On it, I've installed VirtualBox, and in that I'm running Linux. Everything's working great. I leave it running all the time. When I come in in the morning, every time, the "Sun VirtualBox" item in the Windows taskbar is bright orange, like it's trying to get my attention. What would cause this? I'm curious both if somebody has an idea of something VirtualBox might do that warrants this attention-grab, or what to look for in the VB logs to find out what causes this. I'm sure it's harmless, but I'd like to stop it if I can.

• View another persons calendar details in Outlook 2010

  I know how to view somebody else's calendar - there are 100 walk-throughs like this one on Google. However, this feature has changed in Outlook 2010, and you no longer get prompted for rights to view another person's calendar, and Outlook just displays their "Free/Busy" information, which doesn't help me. I'd like to request permissions to view the details of their appointments, but I can't find any place to request permissions on their calendar - Outlook 2010 just gives me "Free/Busy" rights and then appears to have no option to request additional rights. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

  I have a apache server which uses Reverse Proxy to connect/direct to a tomcat server. I dont want the request to be received by the tomcat server and process it. For performance based concerns i want this request to be handled at apache level. with all the research i was still unable to get this to run; RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} OPTIONS RewriteRule .* - [R=200m] can somebody assist me with what rewrite rule should be there? or is there an alternative to RewriteEngine?   Somebody I know expressed irritation today regarding those of us who tend not to use spaces in our filenames, e.g. NamingThingsLikeThis.txt -- despite most modern operating systems supporting spaces in filenames. Are there technical reasons that it's still common to see file names without (appropriate) spaces? If so, what are these technical reasons that spaces in filenames are avoided or discouraged, and in what circumstances are they relevant? The most obvious reason I could think of, and why I typically avoid it, are the extra quotes required on the command line when dealing with such files. Are there any other significant technical reasons?

• Mounting both /dev/sda and /dev/sda1 - how can this be?

  I work on an Amazon EC2 instance that somebody else set up. We have an EBS volume mounted on /dev/sda, even though the root device is already on /dev/sda1, and we're also using `/dev/sda2' user@server:~$ mount /dev/sda1 on / type ext3 (rw) ... (snip) /dev/sda2 on /mnt type ext3 (rw) /dev/sda on /vol type xfs (rw,noatime) ... This doesn't seem to fit with what I know about the way /dev/ works. How is this possible, and more importantly: will this cause trouble in the future? I'm running ubuntu 9.04 jaunty.

  I have Asterisk/1.8.13.1 Asterisk GUI-version : SVN--r Yes, quite old one, but I can not update it since this is installed on my Synology NAS. NAS is connected to internet thru router Asus RT-N16. I should use the following data to connect to the server: Auth name – 7499952XXXX User name/User ID/Display Name – nickname Authorization user name - [email protected] Domain - sip.beeline.ru SIP proxy server - msk.sip.beeline.ru I've also found the following string: [email protected]:password:[email protected]@msk.sip.beeline.ru:5060/7499952XXXX I've tested the parameters on my PC thru X-Lite and it works well (so, assume there is no any problem with the router, no need to do anything with router's NAS settings). But since I am quite new to Asterisk, I can not understand where to input all these data. Asterisk GUI doesn't have fields for proxy: Can somebody please help me with step-by-step instruction?   Sorry the title couldn't be more specific. I installed Abyss Web Server. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and I have Wireless Mobile Broadband internet. I used to be able to access (and other people on other networks) my site by entering my ip address in the browser, but after I formatted, and the installed abyss web server again, this does not work anymore. There are no errors. I CAN visit my own site by entering my ip address BUT anybody else can't do the same, it just says "connecting" in the browser's statusbar and it never changes. I have consulted the docs and have found no help. Google hasn't helped with this problem either. Can somebody please help? Thank you :)
