  • Case-insensitive find_or_create_by_whatever

    - by Horace Loeb
    I want to be able to do Artist.case_insensitive_find_or_create_by_name(artist_name)[1] (and have it work on both sqlite and postgreSQL) What's the best way to accomplish this? Right now I'm just adding a method directly to the Artist class (kind of ugly, especially if I want this functionality in another class, but whatever): def self.case_insensitive_find_or_create_by_name(name) first(:conditions => ['UPPER(name) = UPPER(?)', name]) || create(:name => name) end [1]: Well, ideally it would be Artist.find_or_create_by_name(artist_name, :case_sensitive => false), but this seems much harder to implement

  • Creating a fixed formatted cell in UITableview

    - by Wes
    Hi, I want to have a tableview create rows that look like this: value1 item1 container1 value10 item10 container10 value100 item100 container100 value2 item2 container2 What I am trying to show is that the first word (value) will have a set length of 12 and then the second word (item) will have a set length of 10 and then the last word (container) is just tagged on at the end. I am pulling these from a SQLite database and don't want to use multiple lines, but read in a strictly formatted structure like this.

  • Visual Studio Question: When doing a compile/debug is VS suppose to delete existing files in the bin

    - by Greg
    Hi, Q1 - When doing a compile/debug is VS suppose to delete existing files in the bin\debug area? (for VS2008) if no then can I ask please: Q2 - My winforms checks for existance of a sqlite.db3 file and creates it if it needs to (programmatically). If the behavior I wanted was that each Compile/Debug I do is for the target Debug area to be clear, so that the program would exercise the code that builds the database file, how would I organise this? thanks

  • Adding a second table in a database

    - by MB
    Hi everyone. I used the code provided by the NoteExample from the developers doc to create a database. Now I want to add a second table to store different data. I simply "copied" the given code, but when I try to insert into the new table I get an error saying: "0ERROR/Database(370): android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: no such table: routes: , while compiling: INSERT INTO routes(line, arrival, duration, start) VALUES(?, ?, ?, ?);" Can someone please take quick look at my DbAdapter class and give me a hint or a solution? I really don't see any problem. my code compiles without any errors.. thanks in advance! • PHP sessions and class members.

    - by JDW
    Ok, messing about with classes in PHP and can't get it to work the way I'm used to as a C++/Java-guy. In the "_init" funtion, if I run a query at the "// query works here" line", everythong works, but in the "getUserID" function, all that happens is said warning... "getUserID" gets called from login.php (they are in the same dir): login.php <?php include_once 'sitehandler.php'; include_once 'dbhandler.php'; session_start(); #TODO: Safer input handling $t_userName = $_POST["name"]; $t_userId = $_SESSION['handler']['db']->getUserID($t_userName); if ($t_userId != -1) { $_SESSION['user']['name'] = $t_userName; $_SESSION['user']['id'] = $t_userId; } //error_log("user: " . $_SESSION['user']['name'] . ", id: ". $_SESSION['user']['id']); header("Location: " . $_SERVER["HTTP_REFERER"]); ? dbhandler.php <?php include_once 'handler.php'; class DBHandler extends HandlerAbstract { private $m_handle; function __construct() { parent::__construct(); } public function test() { #TODO: isdir liquibase #TODO: isfile liquibase-195/liquibase + .bat + execrights $this->m_isTested = true; } public function _init() { if (!$this->isTested()) $this->test(); if (!file_exists('files/data.db')) { #TODO: How to to if host is Windows based? exec('./files/liquibase-1.9.5/liquibase --driver=org.sqlite.JDBC --changeLogFile=files/data_db.xml --url=jdbc:sqlite:files/data.db update'); #TODO: quit if not success } #TODO: Set with default data try { $this->m_handle = new SQLite3('files/data.db'); } catch (Exception $e) { die("<hr />" . $e->getMessage() . "<hr />"); } // query works here $this->m_isSetup = true; } public function teardown() { } public function getUserID($name) { // PHP Warning: SQLite3::prepare(): The SQLite3 object has not been correctly initialised in $t_statement = $this->m_handle->prepare("SELECT id FROM users WHERE name = :name"); $t_statement->bindValue(":name", $name, SQLITE3_TEXT); $t_result = $t_statement->execute(); //var_dump($this->m_handle); return ($t_result)?   • Testing a db structure before beginnning to code the app

    - by driverate
    I'm in the beginning stages of writing (and learning as I go) a Python database app using SQLite. I have the db structure planned on paper, and I have the queries I'll need in mind, but before I start coding I want to fully test the db design so I know it's right and ready. What's the best free software to use to test the db structure quickest?

  • perl dancer: passing database info to template

How do I troubleshoot this as no clues come up in the console/cli? Thanks Bubnoff

  • Android App Widget: Data storage

    - by Jeffrey
    Hello everyone, I'm implementing a home screen app widget. I was wondering which is better to store/read data: SharedPreferences or a SQLite database? The data is accessed from an AppWidgetProvider (similar to a BroadcastReceiver), and any given instance of the widget displays different data based on appWidgetId. Is one way or the other frowned upon? Thanks for your time.

  • "Unable to find any mappings for the given content, keyPath=null" RestKit 0.2

    So I switched to using RestKit 0.2 and CoreData and I've been having a lot of trouble trying to get the mappings correct... I don't understand why. The JSON Response of my server is like this: { "meta": { "limit": 20, "next": null, "offset": 0, "previous": null, "total_count": 2 }, "objects": [{ "creation_date": "2012-10-15T20:16:47", "description": "", "id": 1, "last_modified": "2012-10-15T20:16:47", "order": 1, "other_names": "", "primary_name": "Mixing", "production_line": "/api/rest/productionlines/1/", "resource_uri": "/api/rest/cells/1/" }, { "creation_date": "2012-10-15T20:16:47", "description": "", "id": 2, "last_modified": "2012-10-15T20:16:47", "order": 2, "other_names": "", "primary_name": "Packaging", "production_line": "/api/rest/productionlines/1/", "resource_uri": "/api/rest/cells/2/" }] } Then in XCode I have: RKObjectManager *objectManager = [RKObjectManager sharedManager]; [AFNetworkActivityIndicatorManager sharedManager].enabled = YES; NSManagedObjectModel *managedObjectModel = [NSManagedObjectModel mergedModelFromBundles:nil]; RKManagedObjectStore *managedObjectStore = [[RKManagedObjectStore alloc] initWithManagedObjectModel:managedObjectModel]; objectManager.managedObjectStore = managedObjectStore; RKEntityMapping *cellMapping = [RKEntityMapping mappingForEntityForName:@"Cell" inManagedObjectStore:managedObjectStore]; cellMapping.primaryKeyAttribute = @"identifier"; [cellMapping addAttributeMappingsFromDictionary:@{ @"id": @"identifier", @"primary_name": @"primaryName", }]; RKResponseDescriptor *responseCell = [RKResponseDescriptor responseDescriptorWithMapping:cellMapping pathPattern:@"/api/rest/cells/?format=json" keyPath:@"objects" statusCodes:RKStatusCodeIndexSetForClass(RKStatusCodeClassSuccessful)]; [objectManager addResponseDescriptorsFromArray:@[responseCell, responseUser, responseCompany]]; [managedObjectStore createPersistentStoreCoordinator]; NSString *storePath = [RKApplicationDataDirectory() stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"AppDB.sqlite"]; NSString *seedPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"SeedDatabase" ofType:@"sqlite"]; NSError *error; NSPersistentStore *persistentStore = [managedObjectStore addSQLitePersistentStoreAtPath:storePath fromSeedDatabaseAtPath:seedPath withConfiguration:nil options:nil error:&error]; NSAssert(persistentStore, @"Failed to add persistent store with error: %@", error); // Create the managed object contexts [managedObjectStore createManagedObjectContexts]; // Configure a managed object cache to ensure we do not create duplicate objects managedObjectStore.managedObjectCache = [[RKInMemoryManagedObjectCache alloc] initWithManagedObjectContext:managedObjectStore.persistentStoreManagedObjectContext]; My request is: [[RKObjectManager sharedManager] getObjectsAtPath:@"/api/rest/cells/?format=json" parameters:nil success:^(RKObjectRequestOperation *operation, RKMappingResult *mappingResult) { RKLogInfo(@"Load complete: Table should refresh..."); [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:[NSDate date] forKey:@"LastUpdatedAt"]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize]; } failure:^(RKObjectRequestOperation *operation, NSError *error) { RKLogError(@"Load failed with error: %@", error); }]; And I always get the following error: **Error Domain=org.restkit.RestKit.ErrorDomain Code=1001 "Unable to find any mappings for the given content" UserInfo=0x1102d500 {DetailedErrors=(), NSLocalizedDescription=Unable to find any mappings for the given content, keyPath=null}** Thanks a lot!

    I want to write a database app in Python, using SQLite and wxPython. My only "experience" is 1 class on basic C++ console programming and OOP concepts. Which IDE would be best for my situation? In case it matters, I only need my new program to run on Windows, and I do want to make it "portable". Thank you.
