  • refresh user control inside multiview

    - by daisy
In my parentpage I have dropdownlist, multiview and button. Multiview has a user control. On click of the button i pass the selected value from dropdown to the user control and call the databind method to populate the user control with corresponding data. User control has gridview which is populated using objectDataSource. I'm using the ObjectCreating (ObjectDataSource) to set the objectInstance. 1st time everything works fine. But when the dropdown selection is changed and the button is clicked again then the user control does not refresh. What do I need to do so that the user control refreshed each time the drop down selection is changed. All the help is appreciated Thanks

  • naming conventions for buttons in user interface

    - by Samuel
User interface for web applications in general contain various buttons for performing CRUD operations. What would be the suggested naming convention for button labels while performing the following actions.. User creation (Add User... or Add User or Add user) Event creation (Add Event... or Add Event or Add event) View users button (List All Users or List All users or List all users ) Most of the sites seem to contain the last option (e.g. Add user) where the first alphabet in the word is capitalized and rest all are lower case). What would be a better practice here?

  • User management for custom application built on google apps

    - by Ali
Hi guys, I'm modifying our collaboration system so it can be listed on google applications. A small issue I'm facing is the registering of user details. By default whenever someone logs into their google Apps account they pretty much are logged into the application. For every action taken by a registered login in user I store the user ID of that signed in user whenever an update is made in the database. However the google apps user sign in process is different in this respect that there isn't anything visible as a user ID for me to work with. Any ideas?

  • django link to any user profile in social comunity

    - by dana
i am trying to build a virtual comunity, and i have a profile page, and a personal page. In the profile page, one can see only the posts of one user(the user whos profile is checked), in the personal page one can see his posts, plus all the posts he has subscribed to (just like in Facebook) it's a little confusing for me how i can link to the profile of one user, i mean when anybody clicks on a username, it should link to his personal profile page. for example, if someone searches name "abc", the rsult would be "abc",and link to his profile. How can i pass to one function the username or id of a linked user? i mean, showing the profile of the logged in user who is checking his profile is quite easy. But how about another user profile, if one wants to access it? thanks a lot!

    - by Nalaka526
Can I hide user account from Windows 7 welcome screen, without changing registry manually and without disabling the account? I've done this once by following instructions on a website, now I cant find that site. As I can remember I opened a window by executing a command in "Run". There was a list of user accounts in opened window, then selected a user account and unchecked some option then the user account was gone from welcome screen.. Does anyone aware of this method?

  • Getting started with Access Services —Part1

    - by ybbest
In SharePoint2010, we can publish the access database to SharePoint and make the access database accessible to users using SharePoint site. Today, I’d like to show you how to publish the access database to SharePoint. 1. Open the access2010 and click New>>Sample templates 2. And then select Issues Web Database (you can select any web database here, I choose the Issues Web Database here) 3. The next step is to publish this access database to SharePoint, you can do so by going to File>>  Save & Publish>> Publish to Access Services 4. Finally, fill in the details of the SharePoint site and site name and publish the database to SharePoint2010.If you need to publish the access database to https SharePoint site, check my previous blog here. 5. You will see the “publish succeeded” 6. Navigate to the site you will see now your Access Database is available online.

  • Configuring LiveID authentication with SharePoint2010

    - by ybbest
With the addition of the new claims based authentication framework in SharePoint 2010, SharePoint is now more loosely coupled to the authentication layer than ever. You’ve probably seen presentations or webinars where it was mentioned that you can use claims authentication against authentication providers such as Live ID and OpenID. In this blog I will show you the common problems while you configure you LiveID integration with SharePoint2010.The detailed configuration can be found in the following blogs. Part 1 – http://www.wictorwilen.se/Post/Visual-guide-to-Windows-Live-ID-authentication-with-SharePoint-2010-part-1.aspx Part 2 – http://www.wictorwilen.se/Post/Visual-guide-to-Windows-Live-ID-authentication-with-SharePoint-2010-part-2.aspx Part 3 – http://www.wictorwilen.se/Post/Visual-guide-to-Windows-Live-ID-authentication-with-SharePoint-2010-part-3.aspx Here are some problems I have following the instructions: Problem 1: If you had the following exceptions when you run the PowerShell scripts to create the new LiveID authentication provider New-SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer : Exception of type ‘System.ArgumentException’ was thrown.Parameter name: claimType At line:1 char:42 + $authp = New-SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer <<<< -Name “LiveID INT” -Description “LiveID INT” -Realm $realm -ImportTrustCertificate $certfile -ClaimsMappings $emailclaim,$upnclaim -SignInUrl “https://login.live-int.com/login.srf” -IdentifierClaim $emailclaim.InputClaimType + CategoryInfo : InvalidData:(Microsoft.Share…dentityProvider:SPCmdletNewSPIdentityProvider) [New-SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer], ArgumentException + FullyQualifiedErrorId :Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.SPCmdletNewSPIdentityProvider Solution: You need to Remove the existing the SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer.     1. You need to first get the existing TokenIssuer name by Get-SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer, and then run Remove- SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer to remove the existing TokenIssuer.     2. After that , you can re-run the script , everything should work fine now. Problem 2: Live INT automatically logs out Whenever I try to log in (https://login.live-int.com/login.srf), after entering valid email/password I get redirected to the logout page. Solution: You can find the solution in my previous blog.

  • Office 2010 Client &ndash; Should I go with 32 bit or 64 bit?

    - by Sahil Malik
Ad:: SharePoint 2007 Training in .NET 3.5 technologies (more information). As you know, Office 2010 client now comes in both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. The question is, should you go with 32 bit or 64 bit? 64 is bigger than 32 .. so 64 is better no? NO! Given a choice, or unless you have a very strong reason not to – GO WITH 32 bit. Why is that? Here is why - 32 bit apps actually work better on 64 bit OS’s in most scenarios due to WoW, and the additional 64 bit VLSW calculations. If you have 2007 installations to support, SharePoint designer 2010 cannot be used to work with SharePoint 2007 sites. So you will have to install SharePoint designer 2007 32bit side by side with SharePoint designer 2010 32 bit side by side. So you cannot mix and match 32 bit and 64 bit here. Of course you can virtualize and not have this problem to begin with :-D. 64 bit office will break many things on your SharePoint experience for that client – example, that fancy datasheet view won’t work on lists. 32 bit office apps don’t have this issue. There are some extreme situations where you DO want 64 bit client apps though. Specifically if you have HUGE excel sheets to work with, then 64 bit office client excel is much better than the equivalent 32 bit excel. Comment on the article ....

  • OCS presence in SharePoint AJAX-based web part

    - by Maksym Ozerov
I'm currently implementing AJAX-based web part which displays search result. This search result has user names and opposite to each name I'm rendering the OCS presence indicator. This indicator works fine in IE6 but I can't get it to work in IE7/8. Basically the problem in IE7/8 is that OCS is rendered but when you mouse over it nothing is shown. If you try to scroll page down then mouse over the OCS icon you will see the OCS actions menu in the bottom of the page instead of seeing it on the opposite to the user name. My AJAX-based web part uses jQuery post method to make a request to the server and receives json which is then rendered to the div. My HTML for the user name looks like this: <nobr> <span> <a target='_blank' href='/ViewExpert.aspx?uid=4'>Some Expert</a> <img height='1' width='3' border='0' alt='' src='/_layouts/images/blank.gif'><a class='ms-imnlink' onclick='IMNImageOnClick();return false;' href='javascript:'> <img height='12' width='12' border='0' id='3' ShowOfflinePawn='1' type='smtp' sip='[email protected]' src='/_layouts/images/blank.gif' valign='middle' name='imnmark' alt='No presence information' title=''> </a> </span> </nobr> After the HTML above is rendered on the page I call the following two lines of code: //have to reset this value, otherwise ProcessImn() fails after next AJAX request imnCount = 0; ProcessImn(); Any ideas why it doesn't work in IE7/8?

  • Why does MOSS sometimes delete an existing user from a site?

    - by Jesse
I'm experiencing an issue with a MOSS installation. I am using the Site Settings Permissions to add an Active Directory account as a valid user of a site. This entails validating that the user account name is correct via the 'Check Names' button, then giving them 'Contribute' permissions. Once this is done they appear as a user on the 'All People' page. This works fine and the user is able to access the site. At some point in the future (sometimes several days later) the user account is somehow removed as a valid user from the site. This site resides in a test environment so access is pretty well controlled; which has allowed us to rule out someone else going in and removing the user manually. This appears to be something that is being done by the system itself and we have no idea why. We can manually add the user back, but then it will eventually get removed again later. I have an admittedly limited understanding of SharePoint permissions, but I believe that SharePoint stores valid users in a SQL database and I would assume that when dealing with Active Directory accounts it would be storing the user name and probably the SID. It appears that for some reason this record is later getting deleted out of the database, as the users will suddenly disappear from the "All People" page and will start getting "Access Denied: You are not authorized..." messages when trying to access the site. Has anyone seen this behavior before?

When you first load it into a page, there's no value selected (even if the returned value is not properly null but one can check it with IsDateEmpty). How can i programmatically set it back to the initial, empty value? Thanks
