• No network connectivity for my CentOS 6 installed in VMWare Fusion in MacOSX Lion

  I installed CentOS 6.2 (CentOS-6.2-x86_64-minimal.iso) with VMWare Fusion(Version 4.1.2). (Not with EasyInstall). I am using MacOSX Lion, connect to internet via WIFI. The centos installed does not have network connectivity. *How may I configure it to connect to wifi? * Thanks for any help. • Why does my MacBook Pro trackpad sometimes set its tracking speed to slow, all by itself?

  Every now and then, the trackpad on my MacBook Pro will seem to set its own tracking speed to slow. I’ll notice that the cursor is moving slowly, and when I check in System Preferences, the tracking speed is indeed at slow, even though I never set it to slow myself. This might happen before/after switching into a VMWare virtual machine, but I’m not sure. It doesn’t seem to happen on startup or anything, just during use. Anyone else seen this?

  So, my windows laptop is on its last legs and I'm thinking of shelling out for a Macbook Pro. However, I do some (but not a lot) of ASP.NET development, and so would need to install Visual Studio of some version using something like VMWare Fusion. Has anyone had any success doing this? I would like to give them solid reason behind the statement that snapshots are performance killers. • Do I dare clicking Delete Volume instead of Delete Partition?

That VM has a virtual disk which in windows is configured with two partitions and then a lot of slack space, as illustrated here: http://piclair.com/q8g5s What I want to do is delete the partition of 639 GB. However, since it's a dynamic disk, the right menu item says "Delete Volume" instead of "Delete Partition" (when I right click the 639GB space). My question is weather I dare to use "Delete Volume". I have read doing stuff like this on a dynamic volume can cause other partitions/volumes to go corrupt.

  I'm running Metasploit from Win 7 x64, and I've set up my Metasploitable 2 virtual machine on VMware Player. I can ping Metasploitable's IP address from the Metasploit console, however if I use nmap it says: Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probles, try -Pn I try it with the -Pn switch, it says Nmap done: 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 0.64 seconds I've disabled my Windows firewall and I'm running Metasploit as admin. Why can't I nmap my virtual machine?

• Provisioning desktop fails with App-v 4.5 client

  Did anybode tried to provisioning a Windows desktop with App-v 4.5 client in the image? I've tried it with Windows XP and 7 but after creating the desktop pool, provisioning fails. In the View Manager I see a error: View Composer agent initialization state error (6): Unknown failure (waited 0 seconds). We are using View 4 and also checked Vmware KB: 1011653. The App-v 4.5 client is installed before the View Agent.

• slow interactive response time

  VMWare ESXi4 with 2 VM's (FreeBSD-amd64). When doing a reboot on one of the VM's, the reboot is done in normal speed, but after that, the interactive response time on the other gets very slow: pressing return at the command prompt, takes serveral seconds to be exectuted. SSH-ing to the VM machine takes a long time before you are logged in. Only after 20 minutes or so, the situation is normalized. What's the reason and how to remedy?

  I'll have to deploy virtual machines on demo laptops, which will use Vmware player, but I've got some security concerns, as some data stored in the virtual machines are a bit sensitive. Is there a way to prevent the copy of these virtual machines ? Are the virtual hard drives encrypted, and if not is there a way to encrypt them ? In short, is there a way to lock down everything so that nobody could copy and or use these VMs in another computer ?
