  Scenario: Client (Mobile) - .Net CF 2.0, SQL CE 3.0 Server - .Net 2.0, SQL Server 2005, Web Service Client and Server database schemas differ. From server - only certain columns from certain tables need to be synced. From client - everything will need to be synced once client has made changes. Client will continually poll a web service to download and upload data. A framework will be developed to package and unpackage data, used by both client and server. How would you develop the packaging and unpackaging? Use datasets, serialise strongly typed objects? All suggestions welcome. Thanks

  I'm developing a communication API to be used by a lot of generic clients to communicate with a proprietary system. This proprietary system exposes an API, and I use a particular classes to send and wait messages from this system: obviously the system alert me that a message is ready using an event. The event is named OnMessageArrived. My idea is to expose a simple SendSyncMessage(message) method that helps the user/client to simply send a message and the method returns the response. As soon as the event arrived, checks if the message is the one I expect (checking the unique guid), otherwise continues to wait for the next event. This because could be (and usually is in this way) a lot of clients working concurrently, and I want them to work parallel. As I implemented my stuff, at the moment if I run client 1, client 2 and client 3, client 2 starts sending message as soon as client 1 has finished, and client 3 as client 2 has finished: not what I'm trying to do. • How to specify schema location in an xsd file?

  I have an xsd file Foo.xsd. I tried following ways to refer it in a WSDL file but it doesnt work. 1) placed the xsd file in local file system and imported it as <xsd:import namespace="http://ws.test.com/" schemaLocation="file:///D:/wsdl/Foo.xsd"></xsd:import> 2) Placed the xsd file in web root folder and imported as <xsd:import namespace="http://ws.test.com/" schemaLocation="http://localhost:8080/Xfire/Foo.xsd"></xsd:import> When I run the client I get null for the fields of response object. But this works when I embed the type definition inside the WSDL itself. How do we specify the path to external xsds? I am using xFire 1.2.6 for generating webservices. Client is generated using xFire WSGen ant task.

  the term "client" used here is not referring to client's browser, but client server Before cache workflow 1. client make a HTTP request --> 2. server process --> 3. store parsed results into memcache for next use (cache indefinitely) --> 4. return results to client --> 5. client get the result, store into client's local memcache with TTL After cache workflow 1. another client make a HTTP request --> 2. memcache found return memcache results to client --> 3. client get the result, store into client's local memcache with TTL TTL = time to live Is possible for me to know when the data was updated, and to expire relevant memcache(s) accordingly. However, the pitfalls on client site cache TTL Any data update before the TTL is not pick-up by client memcache. In reverse manner, where there is no update, client memcache still expire after the TTL First request (or concurrent requests) after cache TTL will get throttle as it need to repeat the "Before cache workflow" In the event where client require several HTTP requests on a single web page, it could be very bad in performance. Ideal solution should be client to cache indefinitely until further notice.   I've got OpenVPN set up between my windows 7 client and linux server. The goal is that I'll get secure access to a webapp running on the server from any computer on the client LAN. I'm using ccd to assign static ip addresses to each client connection, with key authentication. It's working on my client machine (10.83.41.9), and when you go to the gateway IP address (10.83.41.1), it loads up the webapp. Now I really need the other computers on the client LAN to be able to connect to the webapp as well, via the windows machine. The client has a static IP address of 192.168.2.100 on the LAN, and I've enabled IP forwarding in windows (confirmed by ipconfig /all). In my router I've forwarded 10.83.41.1 / 255.255.255.255 to 192.168.2.100. Is there something I'm missing, or anything I should need to know?

  Hi. So I am in need to learn how to use soapUI pretty quick. I'm finding it pretty tedious to start so I was hoping I might be able to get some help here. Here's what I need to do. Lets say we have Company A and Company B which is a subset of Company B. Now Company A offers a webservice accessible by Company B such that Company B can gather daily aggregated data from Company A's database. Now Company B wants to take this data and publish it on their website. What I'd like is a very basic overview of what I need to do to extract and parse the data onto a website. Just the outline of the process so I can get started. What languages should I be using at what stages and what not. Any help would be highly appreciated.

  I'm working on a project where I need to create a WSRP portlet webservice with ASP.net. My first question is what exactly is WSRP, and are there any good examples of it available? So far I have determined that it is a SOAP xml standard that defines how to create a portlet that can be embedded in an other portal. Is that correct? Also I was planning on using MVC to do this. Is this a good idea? Any thoughts on WSRP are welcome. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it is and how to create it.

  I am trying to build a webservice that manipulates http requests POST and GET. Most online references show making a website, but really, all I want to do is respond when an HttpPost is sent. I don't know what to put in the website, just want that code to run. • Parsing prototype AJAX.response XML in IE

  Hi I have an xml webservice which I'm fetching using PrototypeJS. The xml has the correct content type and is well-formed, and looks like this: <GetTokenResponse xmlns="http://tempuri.org/"> <GetTokenResult>F655100D64F098F0AC33AFF414A4A0D5</GetTokenResult> </GetTokenResponse> The AJAX request is completing successfully, and I can access the GetTokenResult node in both IE and FF but can only get the text content of the node in FF. My code is below: node = transport.responseXML.documentElement.getElementsByTagName('GetTokenResult')[0]; rawToken = (document.all) ? node.innerText : node.textContent; I've tried innerText and innerHTML, as well as children[0] and a few other chance guesses but IE returns 'undefined' when I access rawToken. Is JBehave a good choice for web service functional testing automation? We do use Soap UI to test manually. But we are planning to automate the functional and regression testing to reduce the release cycle time. Suggestions welcome.

• jsonp cross domain only working in IE

  EDIT: At first I thought it wasn't working cross domain at all, now I realize it only works in IE I'm using jQuery to call a web service (ASP.NET .axmx), and trying to us jsonp so that I can call it across different sites. Right now it is working ONLY in IE, but not in Firefox, Chrome, Safari. Also, in IE, a dialog pops up warning "This page is accessing information that is not under its control..." Any ideas? • SForceAPI : unable to find classes listed on API? (Account, Contact, etc)

  Hi, API referred : http://www.salesforce.com/us/developer/docs/api/index.htm subsection: reference-standard objects Client side details : partner.wsdl, Axis2 1.5, generated stubs using unpacked option (-u). I was hoping to find some basic objects like Account, Contact, etc (which were listed on above url) so that I can do something like - SObject[] sObjArray = queryResult.getRecords(); for(SObject sObj : sObjArray){ Account acc = [Account] sObj; } [used above approach successfully in another webservice - 'Zuora'] However, I could not find Account class in the generated classes. I guess I am into wrong approach, but atleast I should be finding the classes listed in the reference API. Please help.

  Hi All, I am new to web services. I have a requirement in my project. I have to consume the web services of our vendor in my project. All he has shared with me is a WSDL file and a document about the description of the the different operations. Question:- 1: What do I need to do consume these web services in my java project? I have been advised to use axis2, eclipse with tomcat6. 2: Do I need to ask for some other files/information from WS vendor OR wsdl file is enough to consume these web services? 3: Do I need to write a java WS client (using axis2 plugin) or another webservice which will talk to vendor web service? Please suggest the best possible way. I am sorry if the question sounds like a naive..

Could someone help me?

  I have the following test in my Rails Application: it "should validate xml" do builder = Builder::XmlMarkup.new builder.server(:name => "myServer", :ip => "192.168.1.1").should == "<server name=\"myServer\" ip=\"192.168.1.1\"/>" end The problem is that this test passes sometimes, because the order of the xml tag attributes is unpredictable. Is there a way to force this order? Is there any other easy way to build xml? This example is simplified, I have a big XML. My problem is that I want to do an integration test, which compares a WebService call with a fixed XML file. Otherwise, I would have to parse the xml and verify element by element in the XML.

I've seen many articles, that show example with IAsyncResult and BeginMyWebServiceMethod and EndMyWebServiceMethod, some using ThreadPool etc. I would just like to know what is the simplest way to make an asynchronous web service method call (ideally without having to implement other classes, if possible). To me it should be as simple as adding an attribute to the method (but I think that is wishful thinking), e.g. public SomeWebService : WebService { [Asynchronous] public static bool SomeCheck() { // code } } I'm open to using WCF if that makes it easier (we converted to ASP.NET 3.5 around Christmas time). Once I have the asynchronous web service created, what is the best way to call it from client-side script? Via jQuery's $ajax or ASP.NET's auto generated class for a web service that is script method?

• Consuming WCF REST service in multiple ways (.Net, plain XML)

  I have become quite frustrated of WCF as I just want to use this simple scenario: Provide a webservice using REST, with a UriTemplate like /method/{param1}/{param2}/ and a 3th parameter that is sent to the service as XML as POST data. Use just plain XML, no SOAP overhead. Be able to generate a proxy in Visual Studio so a .Net using client can easily use the service (don't care about SOAP overhead here). I can create 1. and 2. but no way I can use 3. I tried adding both webHttpBinding and basicHttpBinding endpoints in my services config; I fooled around with the <services/> tag, but I just can't get this working. What am I missing here?! N.B. I checked out this article: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/186631/rest-soap-endpoints-for-a-wcf-service but nothing what is described there seems to work here?!
