  • External WiFi Adapter for Eee PC 1000?

    I have an original Eee PC 1000 running the stock Xandros. I have run into problems where the internal WiFi card does not seem to have enough sensitivity to connect to a lot of access points. Although the computer will report APs in the area, unless the signal strength is over 80% (as reported by the Wireless networks application) I cannot seem get a connection. So is there a recommended USB WiFi adapter that is known to work with the Eee PC/Xandros system or in general with a Debian based system?

  • Wifi problems after upgrading to 13.10

    I just upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10, but since the upgrade I don't have internet access via wifi anymore. I can: See networks Connect to a network Ping myself (localhost, 192.168.0.103) I can't: Ping others (including other devices on the same wireless network, including the gateway/router) Resolve hosts Access any other external resource, whether on my own network or on the internet Using Wireshark, I noticed my computer is continuously sending ARP-requests like "Who has 192.168.0.1 [which is the gateway]? Tell 192.168.0.103". It doesn't get any replies though. When I ping another IP-address for which it knows the mac-address (from cache), it turns out a packet loss of 90% occurs, and even if a packet manages to arrive it takes around 3000ms.   • wpf: capturing mouse does not work

    hello I am developing an kind of outlook calendar application where I need to make the appointment resizable from mouse. My first try with a thumb did not work properly so I tried another way. What I did is that: 1) on the botton of the appointmennt panel I added a rectangle to figure out the resize zone (the thumb). The appointment panel is put on a grid panel. 2) I intercept down event on the rectangle and send event to this code: private Point startPoint; private void OnResizeElementMouseDown(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { e.Handled = true; this.MouseMove += new MouseEventHandler(ResizeEndElement_MouseMove); this.MouseLeftButtonUp += new MouseButtonEventHandler(OnResizeElementMouseUp); // some code to perform new height computation Mouse.Capture(this); } where this is the appointment panel that own the thumb. Decreasing height works well. But increasing is more difficult. If I move the mouse very very slowly it's OK, if I speed it up a little bit it tends to leave out the appointment panel and then all MouseMove event are lost. I thought Mouse.Capture() was propose to solve this kind of problem, but in fact not. Does anybody know what is wrong in my code?

  • Make Your Mouse Pointers Left-hand Friendly

    It’s a right-centric world, with everything from pencils to computer mice expecting you to be right-handed.  Here’s how you can train your mouse and cursors in Windows 7 and Vista to respect your left-handedness. Using your Left Hand the Right Way It’s easy to switch your mouse to left-handed mode.  Enter “mouse” in your Start menu search, and select the first entry. Check the “Switch primary and secondary buttons” box to make your mouse more left-hand friendly.  Now your primary select button is your right button, and the secondary button (commonly referred to as right-click) is the left button. But, it can still be awkward to select items on screen with your left hand using the default cursors.  MSDN has a free set of cursors designed for left-handed users, that can fix this problem for you.  These cursors are exactly like the default Aero cursors in Windows 7 and Vista, except they are reversed to make them better for left-handed use. The cursors are available in 3 sizes: normal, large, and extra large.  The normal ones are the same size as the default ones in Windows 7; feel free to choose the other sizes if you prefer them.  Click each link to download all 6 cursors for your size (link below). Click “I Agree” after selecting the cursors to accept the license agreement and download them. Once you have all 6 cursors downloaded, select the Pointers tab in the Mouse Properties dialog.  Click the cursor to change, and then click Browse to select the new cursor. Browse to the folder you downloaded your new cursors to, select the correct cursor, and click Open. Do this for each of the 6 cursors to be changed.  Strangely, the Busy cursor (the spinning blue orb) is a static cursor, so you may not wish to change it.  All the other ones look and act like their standard counterparts. Here’s the cursors to be changed, and their equivalents in the default cursors: Normal Select: aero_arrow_left.cur Help Select: aero_helpsel_left.cur Working in Background: aero_working_left.ani Busy: aero_busy_left.cur Handwriting: aero_pen_left.cur Link Select: aero_link_left.cur After changing all the cursors, click Save As… to save this mouse scheme so you can easily select it in the future.  Finally click Ok to close the Mouse Properties dialog and accept the changes. Now your pointers will be easier to use left-handed! Conclusion Whether you’re right-handed or left-handed, you can enjoy the Aero cursors in Windows 7 or Vista in the way that works best for you.  Unfortunately, many mice are still designed for right-handed people, but this trick will help you make the best out of your mouse.   • Getting Custom NSCell with NSButtonCell instance to handle mouse click/mouse events

    OK I'm really stumped on this one. I want to make a checkbox with a NSTextFieldCell combined together. It's important that the checkbox goes ON if the mouse hits the box, NOT the text. I've accomplished this, more or less, but the issue is receiving the mouse event because I click one checkbox in a row, but ALL of them turn to NSOnState. I will show what I've done and my various failed attempts in order to get this to work.   • Atheros 922 PCI WIFI is disabled in Unity but enabled in terminal - How to get it to work?

    I am trying to get my PCI Wireless Atheros 922 card to work. It is disabled in Unity: both the network utility and the desktop (see screenshot http://www.amisdurailhalanzy.be/Screenshot%20from%202012-10-25%2013:19:54.png) I tried many different advises on many different forums. Installed 12.10 instead of 12.04, enabled all interfaces... etc. I have read about the aht9 driver... The terminal shows no hw or sw lock for the Atheros card, nevertheless, it is still disabled. Nothing worked so far, the card is still disabled. Any help is much appreciated.   • Why does the mouse always move to the bottom left?

    In the course of doing stuff on the computer, the mouse always moves, by itself, to the bottom left of the screen - I'd say several times in the course of an hour. I thought this might be an issue with the driver, so I re-installed the driver, but the problem continued. Then thinking that the mouse is faulty, I replaced my Microsoft Wheel Mouse with a Dell mouse. The problem still continues. How can I fix this problem?

    I'm trying to write an application that connects to my company's wireless network automatically on windows XP. I've found the Wireless LAN API but it requires me to have some hotfix installed on the machine, and you need to have sp2 or higher(There are machines with SP1, and I'm required to support any XP machine). I've tried to find some samples about Wireless Zero Configuration on MSDN but with no luck, only samples I've found are for WinCE, I think Microsoft stopped supporting it. In addition I couldn't find where to download the dll and header file for working with the WZC. There must be a way to do it and work on any service pack because I've found Zwlancfg by ENGL

  • Mouse interaction in ListBoxItem children (WPF)

    I have a ListBox with an ItemTemplate that contains a control that interacts with the mouse. This interfers with the selection functionality of the ListBox, i.e. clicking a control does not select the item. This is because ListBoxItem sets the Handled property of the mouse event to true in OnMouseLeftButtonDown. I tried the following protected override void OnMouseLeftButtonDown(MouseButtonEventArgs e) { base.OnMouseLeftButtonDown(e); e.Handled = false; } but the ListBoxItem “takes over” the mouse and prevents the control from doing its own interaction. Then I had another idea protected override void OnMouseLeftButtonDown(MouseButtonEventArgs e) { base.OnMouseLeftButtonDown(e); ((ListBoxItem)VisualTreeHelper.GetParent(VisualTreeHelper.GetParent(VisualTreeHelper.GetParent(this)))).IsSelected = true; } which actually works, but feels more like an ugly kludge than an elegant solution. Are there any better solutions that don't rely on the exact contents of the visual tree?

    Different mouse models has been already discussed. But all these mouse got configurable buttons. Has a programmer, how do you set them? I use The Microsoft Intellimouse Optical. So set the Left side button to "Copy" and the Right side button to "Paste". I did not set the Wheel click to anything. I'm curious to see if there is any better setup? UPDATE : I'm trying to find some interesting key I could map to my mouse buttons. Copy & paste are the best I' found so far, but i just want to know if there is something that could be more useful when programming.

    I'm making a little bot in C#. At the moment it works pretty well, it can load text from a file and type it for you. But for now, I need to manualy click the textfield to put the focus on it, remaximize my form and then click the Type-button. After the typing, I need to manualy slide the scorebar and press submit. I'd like to know how I can move my mouse with C# and if possible, if possible I'd like to load the mouse positions from a xml-file. I've got 2 labels that show my X & Y coordinates. To capture them outside the form, I press and hold my Left Mouse Button and 'drag' it outside the form to the correct place.   • Why i disconnect every few seconds? using USB wireless adapter

    i know it's for ubuntu questions..but mint and ubuntu are very similiar and i had the same problem with linux ubuntu too..so i think this is the right place for my question anyway i don't have experience with drivers and other things,after installing Linux on my machine( i did dist-upgrade btw) everything seem to be great because i didn't have to install any driver, after a while i realized that my connection stop after few minutes(actually it shows that I'm connected but it's not) so i have to reconnect and after few minutes it disconnect again. When the network is like this then it is faultless.     I have two networks and I want to join them. Only one has a router. The other is currently just a bunch of computers joined via a switch. So it looks a little like this: 1. Router + comp1 + comp2 + wireless ap 2. comp3 + comp4 + Netgear WG602 Is it possible to use the WG602 to connect to the WIFI of the main network (the one with the router) and connect via wire to the 2nd network - therefore allowing the computers on network 2 to use the router on network 1?

  • I just ordered 70/10 line, and need a new router I think?

    Before I had the 25/5 line and the n standard router did just fine. Now it doesn't do the job. Online speedtest reads at 82 so I have the line. But my laptop is getting less than 30 in my room. My laptop has the following WiFi card: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/centrino-advanced-n-6205.html What is this talk about 2,5 and 5ghz? Can my laptop be connected at once over both bandwidths? And that would let me use the full 70Mb over wifi? Hope it's ok to ask network questions here.
