• How to bind a control to a singleton in Cocoa?

  I have a singleton in my FTP app designed to store all of the types of servers that the app can handle, such as FTP or Amazon S3. These types are plugins which are located in the app bundle. Their path is located by applicationWillFinishLoading: and sent to the addServerType: method inside the singleton to be loaded and stored in an NSMutableDictionary. My question is this: How do I bind an NSDictionaryController to the dictionary inside the singleton instance? Can it be done in IB, or do I have to do it in code? I need to be able to display the dictionary's keys in an NSPopupButton so the user can select a server type. Thanks in advance! SphereCat1

  Hey SuperUsers, is it possible to make some sort of change or add a plugin that allows me to make every 'external' link open in a new window? Just an example: if my blog was called http//timmy.com/ and I wanted to link to http//tom.com/, it would open a new window instead of the same window, but I wanted to link from http//timmy.com/ to http//timmy.com/somewhere/ in the same window. So I want all external link from my website to another in a new window/tab, but I want every internal link, from my website to somewhere else on my website, to be in the same window/tab. Is this possible?

  I'm looking for hosting for an ASP.NET MVC 1.0 app. I've narrowed down with research to either asphostportal, asphostcentral, godaddy, or 1&1. I've ruled out crystaltech and softsyshosting due to price with better plans. Will be running a small e-commerce site written with ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and want to be sure it will work, as well as looking for cheapest price with best value in regards to disk space/bandwidth. And bandwidth is basically how much data can be sent from your site per month right? Any opinions appreciated as I'm finding this tough to narrow down. I know you can bin deploy MVC but heard full trust mode is required as well as some routing rules in IIS. 1&1 says they can't enable full trust. • Upload using python script takes very long on one laptop as compared to another

  I have a python 2.7 code which uses STORBINARY function for uploading files to an ftp server and RETRBINARY for downloading from this server. However, the issue is the upload is taking a very long time on three laptops from different brands as compared to a Dell laptop. The strange part is when I manually upload any file, it takes the same time on all the systems. The manual upload rate and upload rate with the python script is the same on the Dell Laptop. However, on every other brand of laptop (I have tried with IBM, Toshiba, Fujitsu-Siemens) the python script has a very low upload rate than the manual attempt. Also, on all these other laptops, the upload rate using the python script is the same (1Mbit/s) while the manual upload rate is approx. 8 Mbit/s. I have tried to vary the filesize for the upload to no avail. TCP Optimizer improved the download rate on all the systems but had no effect on the upload rate. Download rate using this script on all the systems is fine and same as the manual download rate. I have checked the server and it has more than 90% free space. The network connection is the same for all the laptops, and I try uploading only with one laptop at a time. All the laptops have almost the same system configurations, same operating system and approximately the same free drive space. If anything the Dell laptop is a little less in terms of processing power and RAM than 2 of the others, but I suppose this has no effect as I have checked many times to see how much was the CPU usage and network usage during these uploads and downloads, and I am sure that no other virus or program has been eating up my bandwidth.   As we all known, when we call a constructor of a class like this: instance := TSomeClass.Create; The Delphi compiler actually do the following things: Call the static NewInstance method to allocate memory and initialize the memory layout. Call the constructor method to perform the initialization of the class Call the AfterConstruction method It's simple and easy to understand. but I'm not very sure how the compiler handle exceptions in the second and the third step. • LAN cable not connected, but it is

  I have a Windows XP SP2 desktop PC. It connects to the internet with a LAN cable (there's a wireless router for my laptop in between). The problem should be software because: when i tried connecting the same LAN cable to my laptop it works when i plugin the LAN cable (onboard) the green light is on and the orange light flickers when i tried the other cable (that feeds the wireless router) i have the same problem it worked a few days ago, nothing specific changed I tried removing the ethernet card from the device manager, and windows automatically reinstalled it. What could cause this? What can I try?

  I'm rewriting query strings to pretty URIs, example: index.php?q=/en/contact becomes /en/contact and all works nicely.. # httpd.conf # HANDLE THE QUERY RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA] Is it even possible to rewrite single queries to force https and force everything else onto http? I've tried many different approaches that typically end in infinate loops. I could write a plugin to do this in PHP but figured it would be more effecient to handle this in the server conf. I'd be greatful for any advice. EDIT: To clarify, I'd like to be able to rewrite the non SSL http://example.com/index.php?q=/en/contact to the SSL enabled https://example.com/en/contact and every query that is not /en/contact get written to http://example.com/...

  My problem is deleting a node from linked list. I have two structs : typedef struct inner_list { int count; char word[100]; inner_list*next; } inner_list; typedef struct outer_list { char word [100]; inner_list * head; int count; outer_list * next; } outer_list; My problem is in deleting a node from outer_list linked list. For example when user entered aaa to delete, delete function should find the node with outer_list->word = aaa and delete this node and reconnect the list again. I tried the below code to do this. but After finding and deleting I'm losing the list. I don't know what's wrong. • Why are there two types of Adobe Flash Player download / update?

  Adobe Flash Player checks for updates at startup. If updates are required the Adobe dialog pops up with a [Download] button. Usually when I hit the [Download] button it downloads it straight away with a progress bar that zips across the dialog. I then get the option to install it. All good. However, sometimes when I hit the [Download] button it takes me to the website: https://get3.adobe.com/flashplayer/update/plugin/ Which presents me with an [Update now] button (and to install McAfee!). What is this for? Why didn't it download and install in the "usual" way? So, why are there apparently two different update methods for what appears to be the same thing? One is nice and swish and integrated into the updater, the other more long winded. In fact, I don't [Update now] when it takes me to the website, because I'm like "Hey, what's this?!"

• Can installing URL Rewrite 2.0 on production IIS 7.5 have a negative impact?

  We have a Windows 2008 R2 server with IIS 7.5 and a lot of customer websites. Being no sys-admin but a developer, I hate to touch that wonderfully running system. However, I'd like to update the IIS plugin URL Rewrite to version 2.0 via Web Platform Installer. I do not want to do anything that might compromise the server, hence the question: can I expect it to work with at least a 99% chance? I did not find any bug reports or reviews on the web, so I'd like to hear an expert on that.

• Vim - dynamic list of open buffers in a window

  I've investigated a few ways to maintain a list of open buffers in Vim, and some of them are very good, but none of them seem to behave the way I'd like. It's very possible that nothing like what I want exists, and it can't hurt to ask. I've been using NERDTree in GVim, and I like the idea of putting the information in a slender left-hand window.   I'm attempting to place some embed code into a Premium WordPress Theme. NOTE: I'm not great when it comes to php. The embed code is produced by a video player called EasyVideoPlayer. (Basically it allows me to use Amazon S3 and gives me feedback on when people stop watching the video.) I tried to set that up but no luck. Did anybody do that and help me in that? • How do API Keys and Secret Keys work?

  I am just starting to think about how api keys and secret keys work. Just 2 days ago I signed up for Amazon S3 and installed the S3Fox Plugin. They asked me for both my Access Key and Secret Access Key, both of which require me to login to access. So I'm wondering, if they're asking me for my secret key, they must be storing it somewhere right? Isn't that basically the same thing as asking me for my credit card numbers or password and storing that in their own database? How are secret keys and api keys supposed to work? How secret do they need to be? Are these applications that use the secret keys storing it somehow? Thanks for the insight.

What will be the value which actually gets stored in the different fields of the front, say front-size ,front-start_addr. Is it 0 or something else. I have limited knowledge in this NULL thing. -2) If I do a free(front); It frees the memory which is pointed out by front. So what exactly free means here, does it make it NULL or make it all 0. -3) What can be a good strategy to deal with initialization of pointers and freeing them . Thanks in advance

  I am testing out Google App Engine as a free Content Delivery Network and it feels like it's taking a long time to serve up my content. Why does this gae page take a say a half a second to download, while your typical stack overflow page downloads much faster even with a ton more content? What am I missing here? All I have done is create an app and uploaded an image according to that tutorial, but content is being served very slowly it seems. Any suggestions? (Not considering Amazon or other CDNs right now, just looking for help with GAE). Note: I am using Safari when I visit those links, maybe safari is causing problems?

  Hi, I am trying to add my program run in Windows 7 startup, but it doesn't work. My program has an embedded UAC manifest. My current way is by adding a string value at HKCU..\Run. I found a manual solution for Vista from http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprosecurity/thread/81c3c1f2-0169-493a-8f87-d300ea708ecf Click Start, right click on Computer and choose “Manage”. Click “Task Scheduler” on the left panel. Click “Create Task” on the right panel. Type a name for the task. Check “Run with highest privileges”. Click Actions tab. Click “New…”. Browse to the program in the “Program/script” box. Click OK. On desktop, right click, choose New and click “Shortcut”. In the box type: schtasks.exe /run /tn TaskName where TaskName is the name of task you put in on the basics tab and click next. Type a name for the shortcut and click Finish. Additionally, you need to run the saved scheduled task shortcut to run the program instead of running the application shortcut to ignore the IAC prompt. When startup the system will run the program via the original shortcut. Therefore you need to change the location to run the saved task. Please: Open Regedit. Find the entry of the startup item in Registry. It will be stored in one of the following branches. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_USERS.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Double-click on the correct key, change the path to the saved scheduled task you created. • Change the audio output device in Firefox

  I'm trying to play music through Ventrilo and currently I use Virtual Audio Cable. The way it works is that in foobar2000 (a music playing program) I set the output device in preferences to Virtual Audio Cable. Then in Ventrilo I log in to another name and set the input device to Virtual Audio Cable. This routes the music through the Virtual Audio Cable and allows me to play the music through Ventrilo. However, I would also like to change the output device for Firefox (or any other browser) or "Plugin Container for Firefix" to Virtual Audio Cable so that I could play music from Pandora or YouTube on to Ventrilo. Unfortunately I could not find an option for this anywhere.

• How important is caching for a site's speed with PHP?

  I've just made a user-content orientated website http://www.humanisms.co.uk Its done in PHP, MySQL and jQuery's AJAX, at the moment there is only a dozen or so submissions and already i can feel it lagging slightly when it goes to a new page (therefore running a new mysql query) Is it most important for me to try and optimise my mysql queries (by prepared statements) or is it worth in looking at CDN's (amazon s3) and caching (much like the WordPress plugin WP Super Cache) which works by serving static HTML files when there hasnt been new content submitted. Which route is the most beneficial, for me as a developer, to take, ie. where am i better off concentrating my efforts to speed up the site?

  Code like on this page does not work in (my) Firefox 3.6 and also not in Fx4 (WinXPsp3) Works in IE8, Safari 5, Opera 11, Mozilla 1.7, Chrome 9 <meta http-equiv=refresh content="12; URL=meta2.htm"> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1; URL=http://fully_qualified_url.com/page2.html"> are completely ignored Not that I use such back-button killing things, but a LOT of sites do, possibly including my linux apache it seems when it wants to show a 503 error page... If I firebug or look at generated content, I do not see the refresh tag changed in any way so I am really curious what kind of plugin/addon could block me which is why I googled (in vain) for a known bug... In about:config I have accessibility.blockautorefresh; false so that is not it. I ran in safe mode and OH MY GOD, STACKEXCHANGE IS FULL OF ADS but no redirect
