  • Different values for Time.now when using activerecord

    I have this weird situation: When I do on rails console Time.now or Time.zone.now I get the same values (suppose they run at the sime time: 2014-06-05 23:38:06 -0300) But when I use Time.now in a query like: Match.where("datetime = ?", Time.now) it returns the time 3 hours ahead! .to_sql output: SELECT `matches`.* FROM `matches` WHERE (datetime = '2014-06-06 02:38:06') any thoughts on that?   • Android: how to get the walking distance between two geo coordinats?

    I used this query URL http://maps.google.com/maps?q=from+A+to+B&output=kml ,which is given in the answer to this question. But after I tried it, it doesn't work with coordinates. It works with address names tho. I guess I could use google's geocoding to get the addresses first. But I wonder if there is another way to get the walking distance between two coordinates?

  • How do I use cvs to compare two points in time on a branch?

    I can use something like: cvs.exe rdiff -D2010-03-23 -D2010-03-24 -s "ProjectName" to get the changes which occurred on the 23rd. But I want to get the changes that were checked in on the 23rd on a specified branch - and if I add in a -v branchv1-0-0-0 into that it tells me I can't have more than two dates/revisions in one query. Any suggestions?

For example, from a web application, each user has files they can upload, but how do you limit access so only that user has access to that file? It seems like the query string authentication requires an expiration date and that won't work for me, is there another way to do this?

    POSTGRESQL 8.4.3 - i created a function with this signature CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION logcountforlasthour() RETURNS SETOF record AS realised i wanted to change it to this CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION logcountforlasthour() RETURNS TABLE(ip bigint, count bigint) record AS but when i apply that change in the query tool it isnt accepted or rather it is accepted, there is no syntax error, but the text of the function has not been changed. even if i run "DROP FUNCTION logcountforlasthour()" between edits the old syntax comes back if i edit the body of the function, thats fine, it changes but not the signature is there something i'm missing thanks

Any good login system, however, should also hash (and possibly salt) every password before it goes into an SQL query, so is it still necessary to worry about SQL injection attacks in passwords? Doesn't a hash completely eliminate any possibility of an SQL injection attack on its own?

There doesn't seem to be a field that explicitly says whether a column is UNUSED, or any view I can join to that lists the unused columns in a table. How can I easily find out which are the unused columns, so I can filter them out of ALL_TAB_COLS?

    Using python and wsgiref.handlers, I can get a single variable from a form with self.handler.request.get(var_name), but how do I iterate through all form variables, be they from GET and POST? Is it something like this? for field in self.handler.request.fields: value = self.handler.request.get(field) Again, it should include both fields included in the POST and fields from the query string, as in a GET request.
