• Ruby ActiveRecord + Mongrel going slow

  I have a class like this: class Router :: Mongrel::HttpHandler def process(req, res) status, header, body = [200, {"Content-type"="text/html"}, Model.all.to_xml] res.start(status) do |head, out| header.each_pair { |key, value| head[key] = value } out.write body end end end It's an server and I use an ActiveResource front end on the other side. Every 3rd request is very slow (about 5 seconds, 1st and 2nd is ok, about 0.01 sec). The problem in Model.all.to_xml (it is ActiveRecord - SQLite). Why it is too slow? It only happens when I use it in Mongrel::HttpHandler.. This 100.times do a = Time.now Car.all.to_xml puts "#{Time.now - a}" sleep(1) end is always works good.

  I'm making a vb.net application which interacts with a flash chat room. I was capturing http traffic with live HTTP header in Firefox but it is not HTTP traffic. How can I implement it so that it can interact with a flash chat room? For example in this site. When people enter here they are required to enter a nickname to chat with other people. So what I exactly want know is, when enter this site I want to input my nickname into this flash chat window and click 'Join' button within VB.NET How can i implement this program with vb.net? • JQuery .get() only passing first two data parameters in url

  I have a $.get() call to a PHP page that takes 4 GET parameters. For some reason, despite giving the $.get() call all 4, it only passes the first two. When I look at the dev console in chrome, it shows the URL that gets called, and it only passes action and dbname. • Redirect to hash URL

  I'm building a site with a hashchange on wordpress, all working good. It just loads a single.php template file into a div. The problem is that i can still access my single url (http://www.mydomain.com/my-single-post). Since its not having any head and style tags with it, i don't want people to go over there. Also google has picked up the direct links, because I use the href attribute to load content into the div. So my question is: If someone clicks a link lets say in a forum, http://www.mydomain.com/my-single-post , is it possible to redirect him instantly to http://www.mydomain.com/#my-single-post ? I have researched that it has something to do with .htaccess, but I also have Pages, where i don't want the hash infront of the page-name.

  I have http://example.com and a PHP routing class that checks if some URL exists. I want to make a new route, which is: http://example.com/foo/bar/123 but as long as I open it, the Apache redirects me to an error page. So I'm using a .htaccess. The code is: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*) /index.php [L] and it works, as long as I use http://example.com/foo, but once I add some other parameters, it redirects me to an error. I'm guessing that the rewrite code is wrong. Is it wrong? If yes, could you suggest me the good one? If no, where the problem could be located?

  Searching for some script or service for online image resizing. I should have the ability to throw my imagelink, like http://site.com/bigimage.jpg, and it must give me this image after resizing like http://site-were-image-resized.com/sdf4234f21f.png. It would be amazing, if I can give some values, like height and width. If I upload script on my own site, it should have the ability to resize external images from some domains. Tryed to use http://www.darrenhoyt.com/demo/timthumb/, but it doesn't work with external images.

• Fancybox2 Inline Content Gallery

  I am trying to create a gallery of inline content with Fancybox 2, and am failing miserably. I checked out some other resources online and they seem to indicate doing this relatively easily, yet, I cannot seem to get it to work.   Do you know of any open source code that would go beyond the basic exercises (aka demonstrations of how particular C# construct works), thus a C# code that would have some real world value? I did read similar threads ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1391909/as-a-net-beginner-what-should-i-learn-and-where-can-i-find-open-source-projects ) and the sites suggested (like http://www.codeplex.com and http://sourceforge.net), but all the apps I’ve found there are built using C# in conjunction with other technologies ( such as WinForms, Asp.Net, WCF, WPF, F#,Javascript ), while at the moment all I know is C#, a bit of Html and a bit of Ado.Net. I do plan to learn these technologies also, but that could take months while I’d like to create some useful C# apps right now. thanx

  I was curious if there was an equivalent technique in Chrome to do address bar param string replacement like you can do in Firefox. • IO::Pipe - close(<handle>) does not set $?

  My understanding is that closing the handle for an IO::Pipe object should be done with the method ($fh->close) and not the built-in (close($fh)). The other day I goofed and used the built-in out of habit on a IO::Pipe object that was opened to a command that I expected to fail. I was surprised when $? was zero, and my error checking wasn't triggered. I realized my mistake. If I use the built-in, IO:Pipe can't perform the waitpid() and can't set $?. But what I was surprised by was that perl seemed to still close the pipe without setting $? via the core. • ufw portforwarding to virtualbox guest

  My goal is to be able to connect using remote desktop on my desktop machine, to windows xp running in virtualbox on my linux server. My setup: server = debian squeeze, 64 bit, with a public IP address (host) virtualbox-ose 3.2.10 (from debian repo) windows xp running inside VBox as a guest; bridged networking mode in VBox, ip = 192.168.1.100 ufw as the firewall on debian, 3 ports are opened: 22 / ssh, 80 / apache, and 3389 for remote desktop My problem: If I try to use remote desktop on my home computer, I am unable to connect to the windows guest. If I first "ssh -X -C" into the debian server, then run "rdesktop 192.168.1.100", I am able to connect without issue. The windows firewall was configured to allow remote desktop connections, and I've even turned it off (as it is redundant here) to see if that was the problem but it made no difference. Since I am able to connect from inside the local subnet, I suspect that I have not setup my debian firewall correctly to handle connections from outside the LAN. Here is what I've done...   So I have to preface that I'm not familiar with tomcat/catalina, but trying to troubleshoot this anyway. • Extended URL php

  I have a problem with the extended url here in php. I'm not even sure if it's called extended url. I was wondering if someone can help me since i'm no good with PHP. I have a php page the careers.php it shows the career listing but when I click on Learn more link it goes to http(dot)localhost/houseofpatel/jobs/4/Career-4 but it outputs an "Object not found". Does xampplite have something to do with this? or is it just the codes? I also have the breadcrumb.php in here. • SSH-forwarded X11 display from Linux to Mac lost after some time

  I have a new and vexing problem with ssh forwarding my X11 connection when logging in from a Mac (10.7.2) to Linux (Ubuntu 8.04). I have no trouble using ssh -X to log in to the remote machine and starting an X11-based application from that shell. What has recently started happening is that additional invocations of X11 applications from that same shell, after a while (on the order of hours), are unable to start because the forwarded display is being blocked (I presume). When attempting to start xterm, for example, I get the usual message about a bad DISPLAY setting, such as: xterm Xt error: Can't open display: localhost:10.0 But the X11 application I started right when I logged in is still running along just fine, using that exact same display (localhost:10.0), just that it was started earlier. I turned on verbose logging in sshd_config and I see this in the /var/log/auth.log file in response to the failed xterm startup attempt: sshd[22104]: channel 8: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed If I ssh -X to the server again, starting a new shell and getting assigned a new display (localhost:11.0), the same process repeats: the X11 applications started early on run just fine for as long as I keep them open (days), but after a few hours I cannot start any new ones from that shell. Particulars: OpenSSH sshd server running on Ubuntu 8.04, display forwarded to a Mac running Lion (10.7.2) with the default Apple X server. The systems are connected on an Ethernet LAN with a single switch between them. Neither machine is running a firewall. Until recently (a few days ago) this setup worked perfectly so I am mystified as to where to look next. I am by no means an X11 or SSH expert but have good UNIX/Linux experience. Nothing obvious has changed in either client or server configuration although I have tried changing a few options to try to debug this, like setting sshd_config's TCPKeepAlive to no, and setting "host +localhost" (you can tell I've been Googling). When logging in from a Linux 11.10 laptop to the same remote host over the same network and switch, this problem does not occur -- an xterm can be invoked successfully hours later from the same ssh login shell while the same experiment from the Mac fails (tested this morning to be sure), so it would appear to be a Mac-specific issue.   I have a ispconfig server, and it seems that someone is using it to send spam. I got about 130 "Mail Delivery System" email about declined send email. This spammer uses my email address as sent from adress, so I get all these email adresses to my mail. I am using Postfix and Courier. I installed my server according to this guide: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-debian-lenny-ispconfig3-p3 I did this a few months ago. My question: Can I secure my server to require login to be able to send email, and if so... how? Thanks!   When a IP address gets banned how can I check if the banned IP address is from China. If yes, then add it to the permanent ban list. I have found this nice guide which write the banned IP to file. • Puppet gives SSL error because master is not running?

  I started with two clean machines this time.
