• Magento - Data is not inserted into database, but the id is autoincremented

  I am working on a new payment module for Magento and have come across an issue that I cannot explain. The odd thing here is that I have checked the database, and the autoincrement value is incremented on every run of the code. However, no rows are inserted in the database. I have verified this by adding a die(); statement directly after the first write. Any ideas why this would be occuring? • L2S DataContext out of synch: row not found or changed

  The Problem I am getting a number of errors that imply that the DataContext, or rather, the way I am using the DataContext is getting out of synch. The error occurs on db.SubmitChanges() where db is my DataContext instance. The error is: Row not found or changed. The problem only occurs intermitently, for example, adding a row then deleting it. If I stop the dev server and restart, the added row is there and I can delete it no problem. Ie, it seems that the problem is related to the DataContext losing track of the rows that have been added. IMPORTANT: Before anyone votes to close this thread, on the basis of it being a duplicate, I have checked the sql server profiler and there is no "Where 0 = 1" in the SQL. I have also recreated the dbml file, so am satisfied that the database schema is in synch with the schema represented by the dbml file. Ie, no cases of mismatched nullable/not nullable columns, etc. My Diagnosis (for what it is worth): It seems to be a problem related to how I am using the DataContext. I am new to MVC, Repositories and Services patterns, so suspect that I have wired things up wrong. The Setup Simple eLearning app in its early stages. Pupils need to be able to add and delete courses (Courses table) to their UserCourses. To do this, I have a service that gets a specific DataContext instance Dependency Injected into its constructor. Service Class Constructor: public class SqlPupilBlockService : IPupilBlockService { DataContext db; public SqlPupilBlockService(DataContext db) { this.db = db; CoursesRepository = new SqlRepository<Course>(db); UserCoursesRepository = new SqlRepository<UserCourse>(db); } // Etc, etc } The CoursesRepository and UserCoursesRepository are both private properties of the service class that are of Type IRepository (just a simple generic repository interface). • (SQL) Selecting from a database based on multiple pairs of pairs

  The problem i've encountered is attempting to select rows from a database where 2 columns in that row align to specific pairs of data. IE selecting rows from data where id = 1 AND type = 'news'. Obviously, if it was 1 simple pair it would be easy, but the issue is we are selecting rows based on 100s of pair of data. I feel as if there must be some way to do this query without looping through the pairs and querying each individually. I'm hoping some SQL stackers can provide guidance. Here's a full code break down: Lets imagine that I have the following dataset where history_id is the primary key. I simplified the structure a bit regarding the dates for ease of reading. table: history history_id id type user_id date 1 1 news 1 5/1 2 1 news 1 5/1 3 1 photo 1 5/2 4 3 news 1 5/3 5 4 news 1 5/3 6 1 news 1 5/4 7 2 photo 1 5/4 8 2 photo 1 5/5 If the user wants to select rows from the database based on a date range we would take a subset of that data. SELECT history_id, id, type, user_id, date FROM history WHERE date BETWEEN '5/3' AND '5/5' Which returns the following dataset history_id id type user_id date 4 3 news 1 5/3 5 4 news 1 5/3 6 1 news 1 5/4 7 2 photo 1 5/4 8 2 photo 1 5/5 Now, using that subset of data I need to determine how many of those entries represent the first entry in the database for each type,id pairing. IE is row 4 the first time in the database that id: 3, type: news appears. So I use a with() min() query. In real code the two lists are programmatically generated from the result sets of our previous query, here I spelled them out for ease of reading. WITH previous AS ( SELECT history_id, id, type FROM history WHERE id IN (1,2,3,4) AND type IN ('news','photo') ) SELECT min(history_id) as history_id, id, type FROM previous GROUP BY id, type Which returns the following data set. history_id id type user_id date 1 1 news 1 5/1 2 1 news 1 5/1 3 1 photo 1 5/2 4 3 news 1 5/3 5 4 news 1 5/3 6 1 news 1 5/4 7 2 photo 1 5/4 8 2 photo 1 5/5 You'll notice it's the entire original dataset, because we are matching id and type individually in lists, rather than as a collective pairs. The result I desire is, but I can't figure out the SQL to get this result. history_id id type user_id date 1 1 news 1 5/1 4 3 news 1 5/3 5 4 news 1 5/3 7 2 photo 1 5/4 Obviously, I could go the route of looping through each pair and querying the database to determine it's first result, but that seems an inefficient solution. I figured one of the SQL gurus on this site might be able to spread some wisdom. In case I'm approaching this situation incorrectly, the gist of the whole routine is that the database stores all creations and edits in the same table. I need to track each users behavior and determine how many entries in the history table are edits or creations over a specific date range. Therefore I select all type:id pairs from the date range based on a user_id, and then for each pairing I determine if the user is responsible for the first that occurs in the database. If first, then creation else edit. Any assistance would be awesome.

• Muti-Schema Privileges for a Table Trigger in an Oracle Database

  I'm trying to write a table trigger which queries another table that is outside the schema where the trigger will reside. Is this possible? It seems like I have no problem querying tables in my schema but I get: Error: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist when trying trying to query tables outside my schema. EDIT My apologies for not providing as much information as possible the first time around. I was under the impression this question was more simple. I'm trying create a trigger on a table that changes some fields on a newly inserted row based on the existence of some data that may or may not be in a table that is in another schema. The user account that I'm using to create the trigger does have the permissions to run the queries independently. In fact, I've had my trigger print the query I'm trying to run and was able to run it on it's own successfully. I should also note that I'm building the query dynamically by using the EXECUTE IMMEDIATE statement. EDIT I have done some more research and I can offer more clarification. The user account I'm using to create this trigger is not MAIN_SCHEMA or any one of the OTHER_SCHEMA_Xs. The account I'm using (ME) is given privileges to the involved tables via the schema users themselves. For example (USER_TAB_PRIVS): GRANTOR GRANTEE TABLE_SCHEMA TABLE_NAME PRIVILEGE GRANTABLE HIERARCHY MAIN_SCHEMA ME MAIN_SCHEMA EVENTS DELETE NO NO MAIN_SCHEMA ME MAIN_SCHEMA EVENTS INSERT NO NO MAIN_SCHEMA ME MAIN_SCHEMA EVENTS SELECT NO NO MAIN_SCHEMA ME MAIN_SCHEMA EVENTS UPDATE NO NO OTHER_SCHEMA_X ME OTHER_SCHEMA_X TARGET_TBL SELECT NO NO And I have the following system privileges (USER_SYS_PRIVS): USERNAME PRIVILEGE ADMIN_OPTION ME ALTER ANY TRIGGER NO ME CREATE ANY TRIGGER NO ME UNLIMITED TABLESPACE NO And this is what I found in the Oracle documentation: To create a trigger in another user's schema, or to reference a table in another schema from a trigger in your schema, you must have the CREATE ANY TRIGGER system privilege. With this privilege, the trigger can be created in any schema and can be associated with any user's table. In addition, the user creating the trigger must also have EXECUTE privilege on the referenced procedures, functions, or packages. Here: Oracle Doc So it looks to me like this should work, but I'm not sure about the "EXECUTE privilege" it's referring to in the doc.

• JDBC Lock a row using SELECT FOR UPDATE, doesn't work

  I am having issues with MySQL's SELECT .. FOR UPDATE, here is the query I am trying to run: SELECT * FROM tableName WHERE HostName='UnknownHost' ORDER BY UpdateTimestamp asc limit 1 FOR UPDATE After this, the concerned thread will do an UPDATE and change the HostName, which is then it should unlock the row. I am running a multi-threaded java application, so 3 threads are running this SQL statement, but when thread 1 runs this, it doesn't lock its results from thread 2 & 3. Therefore threads 2 & 3 are getting the same results and they could update the same row. Also each thread is on its own mysql connection. I'm using Innodb, with transaction-isolation = READ-COMMITTED, and the Autocommit is off before executing the select for update may I miss something? OR perhaps there is a better solution? • Search multiple datepicker on same grid

  I'm using multiple datepicker on same grid and I face the problem to get a proper result. I used 3 datepicker in 1 grid. Only the first datepicker (Order Date)is able to output proper result while the other 2 datepicker (Start Date & End Date) are not able to generate proper result. There is no problem with the query, so could you find out what's going on here?   In Silverlight project I have this exception when I tried to Add a new object to a DataGrid when a button is clicked. In the DomainService class.. I know I have to implement the Add operation for the new Entity I'm putting, but how can I do that?   This seems like it should be pretty straight forward, but I'm apparently confused. I have a List view that displays a paged list. When the first URL is routed, it completely loses the query string - if I look at Request.QueryString by the time it gets to the controller, it's null. If I enter the second URL (with the trailing slash), it comes in properly (i.e., QueryString of "page=2"). So how can I either get the ActionLink helper to generate the right URL, or get the Routing to properly parse what ActionLink is generating? Thanks.

The range is a sliding window, and should be recomputed as it might be using a loop. Here is an example of what I'm trying to do, much simplified from my actual problem.   I installed OpenNebula 3.2.1 following the guide found under http://opennebula.org/documentation:rel3.2:ignc on a Debian 6.0.4 machine. Everything seemed fine until trying to execute the command onevm list Then I always get this: oneadmin@opennebula-master:~$ onevm list [VirtualMachinePoolInfo] User couldn't be authenticated, aborting call. The file one_auth exists. I even gave the oneadmin user a password although it doesn't seem to be required according to the guide. I copied the password hash from /etc/shadow to the one_auth file. Still no success. Any ideas are appreciated.

• Entity Framework with MySQL - Timeout Expired while Generating Model

  I've constructed a database in MySQL and I am attempting to map it out with Entity Framework, but I start running into "GenerateSSDLException"s whenever I try to add more than about 20 tables to the EF context. An exception of type 'Microsoft.Data.Entity.Design.VisualStudio.ModelWizard.Engine.ModelBuilderEngine+GenerateSSDLException' occurred while attempting to update from the database. The exception message is: 'An error occurred while executing the command definition. See the inner exception for details.' Fatal error encountered during command execution. Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. There's nothing special about the affected tables, and it's never the same table(s), it's just that after a certain (unspecific) number of tables have been added, the context can no longer be updated without the "Timeout expired" error. Sometimes it's only one table left over, and sometimes it's three; results are pretty unpredictable. Furthermore, the variance in the number of tables which can be added before the error indicates to me that perhaps the problem lies in the size of the query being generated to update the context which includes both the existing table definitions, and also the new tables that are being added to it. Essentially, the SQL query is getting too large and it's failing to execute for some reason. If I generate the model with EdmGen2 it works without any errors, but the generated EDMX file cannot be updated within Visual Studio without producing the aforementioned exception. In all likelihood the source of this problem lies in the tool within Visual Studio given that EdmGen2 works fine, but I'm hoping that perhaps others could offer some advice on how to approach this very unique issue, because it seems like I'm not the only person experiencing it. One suggestion a colleague offered was maintaining two separate EBMX files with some table crossover, but that seems like a pretty ugly fix in my opinion. I suppose this is what I get for trying to use "new technology". :(

• Multi-level navigation controller on left-hand side of UISplitView with a small twist.

  Hi. I'm trying make something similar to (but not exactly like) the email app found on the iPad. Specifically, I'd like to create a tab-based app, but each tab would present the user with a different UISplitView. Each UISplitView contains a Master and a Detail view (obviously). In each UISplitView I would like the Master to be a multi-level navigational controller where new UIViewControllers are pushed onto (or popped off of) the stack. This type of navigation within the UISplitView is where the application is similar to the native email app. To the best of my knowledge, the only place that has described a decent "splitviewcontroller inside of a uitabbarcontroller" is here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2475139/uisplitviewcontroller-in-a-tabbar-uitabbarcontroller and I've tried to follow the accepted answer. The accepted solution seems to work for me (i.e., I get a tab-bar controller that allows me to switch between different UISplitViews). The problem is that I don't know how to make the left-hand side of the UISplitView to be a multi-level navigation controller.   Hello, I'm trying to select and de-select dates on a C# Web Calendar control. The problem I have is that I can select or deselect dates except when there is only a single date selected. Clicking on it does not trigger the selection changed event, so Ineed to do something on the dayrender event but I'm not sure what or how. Any ideas?
